The Ordinary Prince
Part II:
Swinging his small travel sack over his shoulder, the small blond turned around and looked up at the castle that had been his home for the last 20 years.
'Good-bye, Prince Tooru,' the blond thought to himself before turning on his heels and walking away.
[Flashback]
"Who the hell are you?" the Prince demanded angrily.
"Hello, Prince Tooru," the blue-clad stranger greeted the angry prince with a smile. "My name's Toshiya, and I've come to help you!"
"Help me?! How the hell can you help me?" Tooru screamed in frustration, destroying random things within his reach, a reach that Toshiya made an effort to evade. Once the Prince calmed down somewhat from his temper tantrum, Toshiya spoke again.
"I'm a fairy," the blue-haired man informed.
Tooru stilled suddenly at the new information (and the poor pet scorpion took that time to quickly crawl off its precarious position on its master's head and back into its cage), "…fairy…?"
"Mmhmm!" the blue fairy nodded enthusiastically.
"I KNEW YOUR NAME SOUNDED FAMILIAR!" Tooru screamed, charging at the blue-head. "YOU'RE THE ONE WHO MADE ME ORDINARY!!!!"
"Meep! O_O;;;…" was all Toshiya able to let out before he was tackled by the blond.
"THANK YOU!"
"HUH? @______@;;;;;;;……" but as it turns out, the 'tackle' was really just a very big hug! ^_^
"ThankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouTHANKYOU!" Tooru continued to chant happily, tightening his already rib-cracking hug.
"Can't… breathe…!" the blue-haired fairy (who's also beginning to turn blue in the face) managed to wheeze out.
"OH!" Tooru exclaimed, releasing the Toshiya immediately. "Sorry 'bout that, guess I got carried away."
"That's okay," the fairy answered after he caught his breath. "So… you're not mad about the whole 'ordinary' thing?"
"Hell no! It's probably the best thing that'll ever happen to me!"
"Don't bet on it," Toshiya mumbled, a mischievous smile forming on his face.
"What was that?" Tooru asked.
"Nothing, nothing!" the blue-haired fairy answered quickly, causing the blond to raise a suspicious eyebrow at him. "Erm… I was just… Wondering why you would say that?"
Still not convinced, Tooru answered, "I don't believe you, but I'll answer your question anyways: my parents are gonna make me marry some idiotic, high-born lady, and they're gonna keep calling me Tooru even when I threatened to keep calling them Yoshi and Shin-chan!"
"Ouch…" Toshiya winced sympathetically. "That IS harsh. But, no matter, I'll help get you outta this mess!" he declared, jumping off the bed and began tearing up the sheets.
"Actually, I think you making an even bigger mess," Tooru uttered under his breath. "What the hell is tearing up the sheets gonna do?…Well, minus the purpose of venting frustration," he added after a short pause.
"Well, your room's on the third floor," Toshiya explained while tying the strips of cloth together. "So I'm making you a rope to climb outside and thusly, run away from home!"
"WHAT? Running away isn't gonna solve my problem! "
"You're right, running away isn't gonna solve your problem," the blue-head agreed, "But it's a short-term solution!" he continued, securing one end of the hastily made rope to one of the bedposts. "Done!"
"Okay, so I my rebellious side agrees with you about running away," Tooru admitted, crossing his arm. "But WHY do I have to climb down, and to make matters worse: on THAT???" the blond demanded, eyeing the flimsy stretch of knotted white material dubiously. "You're a fairy! Can't you just sortta wave your wand around a little and then 'poof' we'll find ourselves outside?"
"That would ruin your image! ORDINARY people don't travel in little magic poofs!" Toshiya argued, all the while pushing the blond prince to his doom… erm.. I meant freedom.
"I swear I won't mind that minor trespassing of my ordinary-ism!" the blond insisted, struggling against the blue-fairy's incessant pushing.
"Of course you will!" the fairy said cheerfully, handing the prince a part of the makeshift rope. "Now, grab on!" the fairy commanded, and then promptly picked up the pint-sized prince and tossed him, along with the rest of the "rope," over the balcony railing.
"AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH~~~~~~!!!!!!!!!!!"
Half an hour later…
"I can't believe you did that to me!" the shorter man hissed at the fairy as they snuck around the royal gardens.
"Oh, give it a rest, will ya?" the blue-head whispered back. "You're fine!"
"Just barely!" the prince snapped back, unconsciously rubbing his sore bottom. "Where are we going anyways?"
"To get you a whole new wardrobe."
"CLOTHES??? NOW?!?"
"SHHHH~~~!!! >_<" Toshiya hissed. "Look at what you're wearing, you'll never pass for a commoner in THOSE! Come on, this way!" he motioned towards the servants' quarters.
One hour later…
-cak-caked and wearing the patched-up clothes of one the stable boys, Tooru picked up the small sack that Toshiya filled (with a set of spare servant clothes and the blond's own princely garb, as well as some cheese and bread) for him and said, "Well?"
The blue-headed fairy was silent, as he looked the Prince over from head to toe. "You look very… ordinary!" the fairy said with a broad smile, to which the small blond responded with a sigh of relief. "Come on! You're all set to go now!" the blue-head huffed impatiently, when he saw the blond was actually looking through his bag to make sure nothing was missing. “Come on---!”
“CRAP!” Tooru exclaimed, cutting the fairy-man off. “I knew I forgot something! >_<”
Toshiya was silent for a minute before he started to count off, “Erm… I packed your fancy clothes, I packed you extra stolen clothes, and I packed you stolen food… WHAT ELSE COULD I HAVE POSSIBLY FORGOTTEN??”
"Are you sure this will work?" Tooru asked, following the blue-head.
"Definitely! You now look like ANY stable-hand, so the guards won't suspect a thing. And IF they do ask you why you're all packed up, just say you're going home or that you're fired. Any excuse will work, really, since the guards are usually too stuck up to deal with the little people," the Toshiya explained, earning himself a dangerous sounding growl from the pint-sized Prince. "Which was a comment on the class of people you're pretending to be, not yourself personally," the blue-head quickly amended (although Tooru's assumptions were correct).
"Suuuuuuuuuuure…."
"Oh LOOK! The gates! ^^;;;;" the fairy said suddenly, obviously changing the subject. "Now remember, Prince Tooru, once you're out, head east for the country called Dir en grey, the royal palace there is hiring stable-hands. But---"
"But I don't know the LEAST thing about being a stable-hand!" the blond cut in. "And don't call me Tooru! >_<"
"Fine! Then what do you want me to call you?" the blue-head snapped, annoyed at being interrupted.
"Kyo! Call me Kyo!"
"Okay, Kyo! There, are you happy now?"
"Quite."
"Grrrr…," Toshiya's patience with 'Kyo' is beginning to run short. "Anyways, AS I was about to say before I was so RUDELY interrupted, don't worry about the stable-hand work it easy to learn."
'Not to mention the fact that once your talent is discovered, you won't be a stable-boy for long,' the fairy finished mentally, unconsciously allowing a mischievous smile to form on his lips.
"What are you smiling about?" the blond demanded to know.
"I was smiling? Oh shit!"
"You know something that I don't but should, don't you?"
"Toor-- Kyo, I'm a fairy, I know EVERYTHING, which includes things that are for me to know and for you to find out," was Toshiya's smart reply.
"Smartass…" Kyo muttered.
"More like 'kick-ass'," Toshiya bantered back with a wink, and did just that: kicked Kyo in the butt, causing him to stumble out of his hiding place and straight to gat gates.
Toshiya remained in his hiding place, watching the soon-to-be-ex-prince argue with the guards (who, no doubt, are poking fun of his small stature) for a good 15 minutes before they let him through the gates.
"Well, the easy part's done, now for the hard part," Toshiya said to himself. "Good luck, Kyo!" And with that said, the blue-headed fairy made his exit in a poof of sparkling, blue, fairy-dust cloud.
[End flashback]
"GODDAMMIT!" the screamed curse seems to echo forever on the empty forest road.
Kyo's been walking for six hours straight ever since he woke up at the crack of dawn (which was done with a great effort on his part). Though he's left the borders of his kingdom two days ago, there was still no sign of anything that can tell him how much farther till he gets to the Dir en Grey kingdom.
"DAMDAMMDAMMIT DAMMIT! I KNEW I shouldn't have taken that last turn! Now I must be lost! >_The blond was about to let out another string of curses when a deer suddenly dashed past him, startling him.
"What the fuck?" he wanted to say, but never got the chance because, just as suddenly as the deer disappeared, he suddenly found his right shoulder pierced through by an arrow. The sounds of galloping horses getting nearer, and a man shouting, "OH MY GOD! Kaoru, you were supposed to shoot at the deer! Not a boy!" was the last thing Kyo heard before his world blacked-out.
'I'm gonna get that bastard who shot me!' was Kyo's last conscious thought.
TBC…
A/N#2: YES! I reached my goal! Enter Kaoru! LOL, can you guess who yelled at KaoKao? ^_~
