The phone vibrated in his pocket. "Moshi moshi."
"You are never going to guess what Hahuei just asked me!" the excited voice, and very loud music, proclaimed through the speaker. Kisaki pulled it away from his face and turned the volume down slightly.
"Tsukasa? Is that you? Where are you?"
"I'm huddling in the back of the bar; supposed to be working but I just had to share the good news!"
Kirito looked over to the chuckling man in his passenger seat, one eyebrow raised. Kisaki shrugged. "Ok, so what's the news?"
"Hakuei just asked me to live with him!"
The redhead blinked in shock several times, then grinned. "You're kidding! Congradulations! But.. when? How? Surely not at the bar." Now both Bou, leaning forward from the back seat, and Kirito, one eye on the road, where giving him curious looks. Kisaki covered the phone with his hand. "Hakuei asked Tsukasa to move in with him!" he whispered.
"So Haku's going to start looking for a small apartment near campus tomorrow since we both have the day off..." Tsukasa paused. "Hey... I just got an interesting idea..."
Kisaki frowned. "What....?"
"Well, since I'll be moving out, and won't be using my room anymore, and Tora really shouldn't be left alone too much since he's so weak.. why don't you ask him to take my place?"
Kisaki nearly choked as he laughed. "Don't you think that's a bit.. forward?" he gasped out. "I mean, I appriciate the thought, but so soon-"
"No, I think he'd be up for it! I mean, him moving in doesn't have to impact your relationship too much, though it certainly would make things easier!"
"I don't think he'd go for it. We barely know each other!"
Tsukasa snorted. "Chicken. You know him plenty, and he knows you. Hell, you guys slept together just the other day!"
Kisaki's face reddened slightly. "Tora just got an apartment-"
"Easy! Hakuei and I could take over the lease!"
"I don't know..."
"Well, it was just a thought. Talk it over with him when Mana releases him. You might be surprised." There was a pause. "He really has fallen in love with you, Kisaki-kun. Tora wouldn't just sleep with anyone, especially with.. the way things have been..."
Kisaki frowned, though the corners of his mouth refused to lower too far down. "I'll think about it, ok?"
"Good! I better get back, it's starting to get busy. Ja!"
He redhead shook his head slightly and pocketed his phone. He jumped slightly as Bou's platinum blonde head suddenly appeared by his shoulder.
"What was that all about?" he asked excitedly. "Is Tsukasa really moving in with Hakuei?"
He shrugged. "Hakuei just asked him, I guess while they were on their way to the bar." His face turned thoughtful, voice almost wistful. "Tsukasa suggested... that they take over Tora's lease and he move into Tsukasa's old room, that way I could keep an eye one Tora's health until he recovers." He shook his head. "But that's not a very smart idea. I mean, we've just now started a relationship.. sort of..."
Kirito glanced at his lover, the two men exchanging knowing smiles, but said nothing as they made their way home.
The cool night air whipped around Kisaki as he sat on the balcony off his bedroom, a blanket wrapped around his shoulders, eyes staring off into the sky. This was one of his favorite veiws, favorite places to be, just to think, high above all the bustle and earthly trivalties.
He sipped from the small wine glass in his hand, unable to sleep, dark eyes lost in thought....
Rose sat on the couch, knees bouncing up and down as the phone rang in his ear, black painted nails drumming lightly on the armrest of the chair. Kiyoharu graced him with an amused smile before his eyes returned to the book in his lap.
"Kisaki?"
The voice on the other end of the phone groaned slightly. "Hmmft, yes?"
"Oh, gomen. I guess it is a little early in the morning..."
Kisaki snorted. "It's barely 6am, Rose..."
The blonde rolled his eyes. "Well, I thought you'd be used to getting up early in the morning, what with school and all."
"I have just under 3 weeks left before I start classes again," the other huffed, though Rose could tell he really wasn't a mad as he sounded, "and I plan on sleeping in every day until then."
Rose grinned, "Well, then , I appologize, but I couldn't wait anymore!"
"What?"
"We need to start planning birthdays!" Rose bouncing in his chair in a very Bou-esque manner. "Two people have a birthday just a day apart, and we need to do something!"
Rose could hear the other man yawn and the sheets rustle as he climbed out of bed. "Who.. Oh, right, I know Bou's is on the 16th, but who else..?"
"Tora! His is on the 17th. They both will be turning 22!"
"Eh? Souka..." More shuffling. "So what was it you had in mind?"
"Well, we only have a little over two weeks, and I..." the blonde frowned. "I'm not sure. We're having everyone come over to Kiyo's in a bit so we can plan more.. thoroughly..." He grinned. "Ok, I didn't have any real plans, but I wanted to make some...."
Kisaki chuckled. "Alright, I'll be over after I shower, alright?" Rose could hear water running in the background. "But I want to see Tora as soon as visiting hours are open."
"Hai, hai, later then!" Rose replaced the phone on the reciever and smiled brightly to himself.
Kiypharu shook his head, not looking up. "You are a nut sometimes."
"What? Because I want to do something special for my friends birthdays?" He crawled across the couch to the man sitting on the other end. He crawled ontop of him, straddling the other man's lap and leaned close, warm breath tickling Kiyoharu's ear. "Wouldn't you like something special for your birthday?" he said in a low voice, tongue flicking out the tease the star tattooed on his neck.
Kiyoharu dropped the book he had been trying to read, hands delving under the loose t-shirt the other was wearing before Rose backed off, grinning evily.
"Fucking tease." Kiyoharu growled as the other continued to step backwards grabbing the phone once more
"I have to call the others." Rose said innocently.
"Kirito's gonna kill you, waking him up this early after having to close at the bar."
The blonde shrugged. "It's for Bou, so he'll forgive me..eventually!"
By the time Kisaki pulled into the driveway of Kiyoharu's tiny little townhouse, Kirito's black Civic, Tsukasa's Acura and Hide's Sunny already crowded the street. He grabbed his jacket from the seat next to him and hurried inside, the front door having been left unlocked. Seven familar faces greeted him, several smiling, one decidedly frowning, though his discontent was not really directed towards Kisaki, and he knew it. After a round of good mornings, and a healthy snort from Kirito, he plopped down on the couch beside the dark-haired man, crossing his long legs. As Rose ran off to get glasses of water, Kisaki leaned over towards this friend sharing the seat next to him.
"I'm surprised you're here," he murmered, "I figured you'd still be in bed."
The dark haired man frowned and crossed his arms. "I should be, but..." Kirito sighed. "But unless I left while Bou was still asleep, I know he'd be begging to come over too, and that would just be pointless, now wouldn't it." Kisaki grinned as Kirito rolled his eyes. "I left him a note saying I couldn't sleep was out getting groceries."
Rose returned and handed a glass to Kisaki and Kirito, before settling down on the floor in the middle of the small, crowded livingroom.
"So," he said cheerily, "what should we do?"
Kirito rolled his eyes again. "You mean you didn't have any ideas?"
"Well, not as such, but I figured now that we are all gathered, and the two lovers, and former lovers, of the men whom we are planning this for are here..." he looked a little sheepish, "I figured they would have more insite than I would."
"A surprise party might be nice." Tsukasa said from his perch across Hakuei's lap. "I mean, they haven't said anything so far as to what they might want," he cast a glance at Kirito, "which surprises me in Bou's case, but I'm suer they'd love it and Tora definatly won't be expecting it."
"And hopefully by that time he'll will be closer to recovery." Kisaki spoke up and the others nodded.
"Ok, thats a start." Rose rubbed his chin. "Where do we want to have this little party? At one of our homes? The bar?"
"Definatly the bar." Hakuei said. "I mean, it would fit all of us comfortably, and we could pick a day just before their actual birthdays, maybe in the middle of the week when things are more quiet."
"But then we'd have to be out of there before it opened or there would still be alot of people there, especially just as schools starting again." Hide reminded them ."I say we have it in the park. It's beautifl, and if we have it during the day, it won't be too cold."
"Oh!" Toshiya bounced in his seat. "There's this waterfall not too far in, and it has such a gorgeous view, and plenty of space for a picnic-"
"And the place is secluded enough for-" Toshiya slapped a hand over Hide's mouth, fearing what would come out next. Hide peeled his lovers hand away and gave him a sly grin. "I was going to say 'secluded enough for other people not to be bothered if we play music loudly'." He wiggled dark eyebrows hiding under fruchia pink hair. "What did you think I was going to say?"
"uh..." the other man blushed, "never mind. I think this sounds like a plan!"
Tsukasa stood behind Kisaki as the nurse gathered the` new vase of roses and an overnight bag, handing them both to the other men, then helped Tora into the wheelchair. The younger man still looked quite pale, but better, so Mana had kept his word and released him from the hospitals care. After a moment, the two men wordlessly followed the nurse as she pushed Tora's wheelchair out of the room, down the hall and through the lobby. Kisaki handed the roses to Tsukasa and jogged ahead, pulling the car around to the curb. Tora stood and thanked the nurse.
Kisaki opened the back door for Tsukasa, who's hands were now full, and then the passenger's side door, helping the frail looking Tora into the seat. He quickly ran around the front of the car and jumped behind the wheel. As he pulled away from the curb, Tsukasa leaned forward between the two front seats.
"SO Haku-chan found a few possible houses in the classifieds the other day," he turned his head towards Tora. "Did Kisaki tell you that Hakuei asked me to live with him?"
Tora nodded. "Yes, he told me yesterday. Congradulations."
Tsukasa grinned. "Eh, I suppose the real question is wether he told you about my idea..."
"Tsukasa!"
Tora half turned in his seat to see the other men better. "What?"
The sly grin continued as Tsukasa spoke. "Well, I thought since Haku and I are looking for an apartment near campus, boht for my benifit and his since he wants to start school back up in a few weeks, I was wondering if maybe you wanted to switch!" He squeezed Tora's arm in excitement. "We could take over your lease and you could live in my old room with Kisaki."
Tora stared at Tsukasa, then turned his gaze towards Kisaki, who was doing his best to keep his eyes firmly on the roade ahead of them. "And when did you suggest that, Tsukasa-kun?"
"Oh, the same night Hakuei asked me to live with him, while you were in the hospital." Tsukasa shrugged his shoulders and leaned back in his seat. "I don't know, it was just a thought..."
Tora's eyes flickered towards Tsukasa a moment, then moved back to the other man. "Why didn't you ask me?"
Kisaki frowned slightly as he turned into the parkinglot of the bar and grill. "I didn't think you would be interested."
"Why do you say that?"
Kisaki shot his lover a surprised look as he stopped the car infront of the door, killing the engine.
"Well," he began slowly, hands resting lightly on the wheel, "considering the fact that we've only just begun a relationship and don't really know each other all that well..."
"That's not true." Tora corrected, reaching out to take one of Kisaki's hands. "We do know each other well, intimatly so." He smiled gently at the older man. "Do you really want me to move in, or was this something dear TSukasa contrived-"
"Hey!"
"-to keep us together?"
"No." Kisaki said quickly, surprising even himself. "I mean, it was his idea, yes, but.. I certainly wouldn't be apposed to the idea." He glanced sideways at the other man. "I like having roomates.. and I like you. Alot. I think it would be.. nice, if you took Tsukasa's place."
Tora smiled. "Then it's settled. I'll take over Tsukasa's lease and he'll take mine."
There came a squeel from the backseat, startling the other two up front. Tsukasa leaned forward, hugging the two men, then kissing Tora briefly on the lips in one, fluid motion.
"This is so exciting!" Tsukasa cried. "I'll go tell Hakuei now and then call you guys later to figure out how we are going to go about doing this!" His face nearly splitting with a grin, he climbed out, waved goodbye and trooted up to the door to the bar, letting himself in with a key Hakuei had made for him.
Kisaki and Tora exchanged amused looks.
"I just want to say," Kisaki began slowly, "that I have never heard him make a noise quite like that before." He chuckled slightly. "I think he's been spending a bit too much time around Bou and Rose lately."
"That's because he's finally happy." Tora said quietly, leaning his head on the other mn's shoulder and closing his eyes. "He can be his silly, carefree self again."
Kisaki raised a hand, slowly massaging the exposed side of Tora's neck. "Are you sure this arrangement is ok with you?" he asked quietly. "You living in the same aparmtent as myself doesn't have to have any barring on our relationship, if you would rather it-"
"I wouldn't have agreed to this if it didn't appeal to me." Tora whispered, leaning up to kiss him. He unbuckled his seatbelt and slid closer to Kisaki, nearly sitting in the older man's lap. Kisaki groaned as a good portion of the young man's weight pushed almost painfuly on a very sensitive, and very recpetive, part of his body. He leaned into the kiss a moment, savoring the feel of Tora's tongue battling his own, then pulled back.
"You know what the doctor's said." he murmered, a bit breathless. "Nothing too strenuous until you've had time to heal."
Tora closed his eyes, an odd look crossing his face before leaning close to Kisaki's ear. "I can think of a few things that might not be considered too strenuous."
Kisaki sighed, his hands traveling up Tora's torso, one haulting on his neck, the other cupping his smooth, cheek. Kisaki frowned slightly, looking the man over closely.
"Your face is so flushed already." He said quietly. "And I can feel your heart beating so fast under my fingertips." Tora's face fell as he leaned forward, resting his forhead heavily on Kisaki's chest. "You're not feeling well." Kisaki continued, more os a statement than a quiestion. The other man paused a moment, then slowly nodded his head.
Kisaki wrapped both arms around the younger man, holding him close.
"Let's get you home," he whispered. "Our home."
Author's Note: Thus completes New Beginnings. If you liked what you read, and I certianly hope you did after getting through 30 chapters of this, you can go on to Twisted Harmony, the sequel. Originally, this fic was not supposed to be this long before getting to the contents that unfold in TH, but since it did (don't they always end up growing/changing when you actually type them up?) I decided to split it in two parts.
Until Next time...
