Chapter 31: For Better or Worse, till Death Do Us Part, I’ll Love You with Every Beat of My Heart
∞♥♥∞
I woke up feeling refreshed. The day had finally arrived. I woke up, and looked at the clock. I had two hours to get dressed and down to the harbor. I stretched, then got out of bed, and ordered room service. I knew I might as well eat breakfast. My parents always said that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Well, there ya go. I wanted to make sure I had my strength for the day—especially after the night Chris had given me the night before. I was going to need the strength. Ha!
Anyway, practically as soon as I had hung up the phone, there was a knock on my door.
“Well that was fast,” I said, amused with my own joke. I opened the door, and there were the girls.
“Hey. What are you ladies doing here so early?” I asked.
“We have less than two hours to get you ready for the wedding, so we had better get cracking,” Gina said.
They all walked into the room without waiting for me to invite them in.
“Come on in,” I said, even though it was pointless. I closed the door behind them.
“Do you need to shower?” Kristi asked me.
“No, I did last night,” I said.
“Good. That will save us some time. We have to get some breakfast into you for starters,” Andrea said.
“I already ordered room service. Had I known you were coming, I would have ordered you guys something as well,” I said.
“We already ate on the way here. Now go to the bathroom and get your outfit on, then I’ll do your hair,” Gina ordered.
I smirked. “Do my hair? I can style my own hair, no offense.”
“Boy, listen to the girl. I am sure she can make our hair look nicer for the wedding that you could. No offense.” LaKisha gave me a warning glare, and I knew by now not to mess with her. She could break me—girl or not!
So, I grabbed my outfit, which I had hanging up neatly in the closet, and I headed into the bathroom to change.
When I came out, everyone said how nice I looked.
“You look great! I’m glad you and Chris decided not to go with the traditional tuxes. Those are so boring. This outfit is much nicer than any tux would look,” Shyamali said.
“I also like that you’re dressed similar to how you dressed on the show and on tour, when you first met Chris. It’s so romantic!” Kristi cooed.
I fought to not roll my eyes. Girls could be so gushy when it came to romance—especially when it came to two men. That is how men differ from women. When men see two women together, it’s hot. We don’t go saying how sweet or cute they look together.
“Sit down and let me do your hair before your food gets here,” Gina ordered, motioning to the vanity chair in front of the mirror. She already had the styling supplies lying across the vanity, I saw.
I sat down, knowing there was no arguing with these girls. "I want it styled in the bed head way that Chris loves.”
“Don’t worry. I know. I’m just going to make it look a little bit more stylish instead of so messy. You’re getting married—not going to some casual event. It will still have that bed head look though, so don’t worry.” Gina took some mousse, and put a medium-sized dollop in her hands. She then spread it through my hair.
“Don’t put too much in. I don’t want hard hair,” I said.
“I could make a really crude statement about that comment, but I won’t,” Ginger said.
I laughed. “I only need my dick hard, right?”
Ginger rolled her eyes, but smiled nonetheless. “Leave it to the king of crude to say it anyway.”
I grinned proudly. I looked in the mirror so watch Gina styling my hair. She was picking through it now. It was starting to look nice. I could see what she meant about still being the bed head style, just a little less messy, and more formal looking.
“There,” she said after a moment. “I’m all finished. “Do you like how it looks?”
I examined myself in the mirror and nodded. “I love it! Thanks, Gina.” I kissed her quickly on the lips.
She ginned. “You’re welcome!”
There was a knock on the door then. “Room service!”
Shyamali answered for me, and LaKisha paid and tipped the guy.
“Thank you,” the guy said, pocketing the money, and then leaving.
“My wallet is over there,” I told LaKisha, nodding towards the dresser.
“That was on me,” she said. “You can’t pay on your wedding day.”
“Really, you don’t have to do that,” I told her.
“Let me pay boy,” she said giving me that glare again. That woman scared me for some reason.
“Well, thank you.” I hugged her, and kissed her cheek.
“You’re welcome,” she said, patting my back. “Now eat up.” She pulled my chair out for me at the room’s table.
I sat down, and she even pushed my chair in for me.
“Don’t spill anything,” Kristi ordered.
“Yes, mother,” I joked as I dug into my food. Why was it that I was suddenly starting to feel like a child? I wondered if Chris was being treated the same way I was.

I woke up feeling really good. The night before had been amazing. It should have made me feel tired today, but instead, it made me feel rejuvenated.
I headed down the stairs, and smiled when I saw that my mother already had breakfast waiting for me at the table. Everyone was already there, digging in.
“I was just about to wake you, but I wanted to let you sleep in for a bit. I know you got in late last night,” my mom said with a knowing wink.
I blushed. I still felt uncomfortable with her knowing what Blake and I do behind closed doors. “Thanks. I actually feel awake today. I guess it’s just because I’m so excited about the wedding,” I said. I sat down next to Jordin.
“Hey,” she said, kissing my cheek. “Did you sleep well?”
I nodded. “Oh yeah! I slept great, thanks.” I took a sip of my orange juice, and then started my breakfast.
“I can hardly wait until you and Blake are finally married. “You two are just so cute together,” Haley said.
I grinned. “Thank you.”
“It’s almost sickening,” Sanjaya quipped.
Jordin gently pushed him. “Aw, quit. You know you like those two together as much as us girls do.”
He sighed. “I suppose so. But don’t tell Blake!”
I laughed. “I won’t. I promise.” I winked at him,
After breakfast, the girls helped my mom clean off the table and rinse and load the dishes, while I got dressed.
It put on my clean underwear, and then took my outfit out of the closet and put it on. I had chosen to wear green cargo pants, an untucked green dress shirt, and a green suit jacket. They were all a hunter green shade. I also had a hunter green bowler hat that had silver pinstripes. I figured it was my alternative to a wedding veil. Ha!
I put on some hunter green socks, for I had gone all out when buying the outfit, and finally, I put on my black dress shoes.
I had just finished dressing, then there was a knock on my bedroom door. I opened it, and smiled when I saw not only Jordin, Melinda, Haley, and Sanjaya, but MaDookie and Antonetta as well.
“You look so good!” Jordin said, running her hands over the lapel of my jacket.
I grinned. “Thank you.”
My friends walked into the room.
“So, are you going to do your faux hawk?” Antonetta asked.
I shook my head. “I’m going to have my hat over it anyway.”
“Aw, do it up! That way in case your hat blows off, your hair won’t look a mess,” MaDookie said.
“All right,” I agreed. I took my hat off, and set it down on the bed. “I’ll be back in a minute,” I said, heading to the bathroom to do my hair.
It took me a couple minutes to do my hair, and then I went back into my bedroom. There, I saw my friends all smiling at me, their hands behind their backs.
“What?” I asked with a smile, knowing something was up.
“We have to give you your something new, blue, old, and borrowed,” Jordin said.
I laughed. “But I’m not really a bride.”
“Well you’re the one walking own the aisle, so that makes you the bride,” Sanjaya said. “But Blake is definitely the more girly one.”
I smirked. “Blake would love to hear you say that,” I said sarcastically.
He grinned.
“Anyway, first is your something blue.” Jordin said.
“Wait. I already have a blue. He’s my best man!” I laughed at my own joke.
Everyone groaned.
“Hey, it’s my wedding, the least y’all can do is laugh,” I teased.
They all laughed fakely, and then we all laughed for real, not being able to resist.
“Here,” Jordin said, handing me a bouquet of blue flowers. “They’re called delphinium. I figured it would be easiest to have your blue in your bouquet.”
I smiled, and took the flowers, smelling them. They smelled great. I would feel a little weird walking down the aisle with flowers, but I didn’t want to hurt Jordin’s feelings.”
“It was either that or a blue guarder, so feel lucky,” Antonetta said, as if reading my thoughts.
I laughed. “I prefer the flowers, thank you.”
“This is your something new,” MaDookie said, handing me a green rubber bracelet. I found a site that allows people to design their own.”
I took it from her and read it, smiling when I saw what it said. It read, Cake Infinite 11-11-10.
“I figured I might as well get your wedding date put on it. I know you always used to wear those rubber bands around your wrist, so I figured that was appropriate. I got a tan one for Blake that says the same thing,” MaDookie explained.
I grinned. “Thank you!” I hugged. Her. “This is great!” I put it on. It was really unique. I really loved it.
“Here is your something borrowed,” Melinda said, hanging me a cross necklace. “Obviously it’s a woman’s necklace since it’s mine, but I think you can wear it without anyone noticing it’s a woman’s. Cross necklaces are pretty much gender neutral anyway.”
I smiled. “It’s perfect. It doesn’t look too girly. “Thanks, Melinda!” I hugged her.
She ginned. “You’re very welcome.”
“Your something old is a present from your grandmother. She wanted me to give this to you as a surprise. It used to be your grandfather’s,” Antonetta said, handing me a silver watch, which I remembered my grandfather wearing. I almost got tears in my eyes. “Thank you,” I said, taking it and putting it on. I didn’t day much more, for I was afraid I’d break into tears. I hugged her.
“Thank your grandma,” she said, smiling, and hugging me nonetheless.
“Well, you’re all set now.” Haley looked at her watch. “Now. The girls and I are going to get ready, but don’t worry; we’ll get you to the boat on time.” She winked at me.
I smiled. “Thanks!”
The girls all hugged me, and then left my room to get ready.
I looked in the mirror while holding my bouquet. I did look pretty good, if I did say so myself. I just hoped Blake thought so too.
B∞C
I arrived at the harbor, and saw that the boat was waiting for the wedding party to board. I got on board with the girls, and we walked to the area that Chris and I would be getting married, which was the top deck. We took our places in front. Cisco, Ethan, Phil, an Sligh were standing there all ready. I exchanged hugs and pats on the back with them.
I then faced forward, and saw most of our friends and family sitting in chairs in front of us. Mine and Chris’ friends and family were mixed. We had so many mutual friends that there was no use in separating the sides, we had figured.
I saw Brandon and Ace, who we had asked to be ushers. They smiled and waved at me, and I smiled and waved back.
I hoped the wedding would start soon. I was eager to have it over with so that I could finally say Chris was my husband.
I didn’t have to wait long, for soon the music had started. It was a recorded playing of “Jesu Joy of Man’s Desiring”. Gina, Haley, Jordin, and LaKisha had dealt with the music, and Chris and I had approved it. We basically approved everything they had brought to us. Though some of the music they chose wasn’t normally my taste, I had to agree that it was good music for our wedding.
Anyway, Chris’ nice and nephew came down the aisle first. They were the flower girl and ring bearer even though they were slightly old for the roles. Morgan threw white rose petals from her basket, while Jackson walked along beside her, holding a white velvet pillow with the rings on top. They were adorable.
Next was Jordin, looking stunning as ever, with Blue by her side. Their arms were linked. Right behind her were MaDookie and Antonetta side by side, followed by Michelle and her husband Lee side by side, followed by Melinda and Haley side by side, followed by Jorge and Sanjaya side by side. Every one of them was holding a small bouquet of wild flowers. They all looked great. They stood to the right side (facing the audience) since my friends and I were on the left side.
Finally, the song ended, and Pachelbel's Canon (which is basically the Trans Siberian Orchestra’s “Christmas Cannon”—the part before the singing begins) began to play.
There was Chris, looking as beautiful as ever. His mother was on his left, and his father was on his right. He was carrying a bouquet of blue flowers. He looked so beautiful. He smiled as he walked down the aisle to me, and I smiled back, brightly. The only complaint I had was he was walking far too slow for my taste. I just wanted to hold him in my arms and kiss him right then.
Finally, after what seemed like forever, he arrived at my side, and the music stopped.
“You look so beautiful,” I whispered to Chris, who was still grinning at me.
“So do you,” he whispered back, grinning as well.
The ceremony began, and when the pastor got to the part where he asked who was giving Chris way, his parents both spoke up that they were. Then they sat down next to my parents. I couldn’t help but smile at this. Chris and I had agreed to him being given away. We wanted it to be like a traditional wedding. He didn’t mind, and I thought it was funny, but at the same time, nice.
The ceremony continued, and soon it was time for our vows. I went first. Chris and I had decided to say our own vows. We hadn’t written them down though, for we wanted to recite from our hearts; not just rehearse some scripted thing.
I took his hands in mine, and looked into his eyes. “You know, before meeting you, I never in a million years would have admitted that I had feelings for a man. I tried so hard to be straight no matter how many times I’d been asked if I was gay or not. I loved women, and that was all I cared to know. However, the moment you walked over to me that day in the Hollywood round… I knew then that I was definitely feeling something more than just friendly feeling towards you. I wanted to kiss you and hold you and—” I paused, smiling and blushing a bit. “Let's just say I could no longer hide the fact that I sometimes found men attractive. You weren’t just attractive to me. I wanted you. Badly. When I got to know you… I just saw how much alike you and I were. I swear you are like me, only you’re not me. I know I’m not making sense.” I stopped, thinking that maybe I should have written something out after all.
“You’re making perfect sense to me,” Chris said, still smiling at me.
I smiled back, that giving me what I needed to continue. “The bottom line is, I loved you then, and I love you even more now. I am just so grateful to have met you. You are my best friend, my lover, and soon to be my husband. I love you so much it hurts, and I promise that I am going to love you far after I die. I don’t know how I’m going to do that, but I know I will. I promise, I’m going to be the best husband I can be to you. You deserve nothing less.” I stopped, figuring that should do. I took the ring from Jackson, and saying the traditional, “With this ring, I thee wed,” I slipped the gold band on Chris left ring finger. We had engraved Cake infinite on the inside of the bands with two hearts between two infinite signs before and after the words.
He smiled, and gently squeezed my hands.
“Christopher, you may give your vows now,” the pastor said.
Chris looked into my eyes as he spoke. “As you know, I grew up in a good Christian home. I was almost afraid to love you, for I had grown up hearing that a man and man being in a relationship together is wrong. But I couldn’t help it. Just the sight of you made my heart pound and my palms sweat. I wanted to be with you all the time. I never felt that way about anyone in my life—not even for Gayle. It was then that I knew I had to examine my feelings for you. It didn’t take much examining though. The more I got to know you, the more I knew that I was falling hard for you. And that day we kissed for the first time? I was completely smitten. What I felt then… I knew it could never be wrong because I loved you. How could love ever be wrong? It’s one of God’s greatest gifts, and I know that you are one of God’s greatest gifts to me. I love you, and just like I know you’ll be to me, I am going to be the bet husband I can be to you. You deserve to be loved unconditionally, and I promise you that I’ll love you unconditionally, Blake. I love you, and I thank God every day for you. I’m going to love you even after I die as well.” He took the remaining ring from Jackson, and slipped it on my left ring finger. “With this ring, I thee wed.”
We were both tearing up as he ended his vows. I could expect it from Chris. But from me? No way. I guess it showed how much I loved him.
“All right. Now Christopher would like to sing a song he wrote for Blake. You may do that at this time, Christopher,” the pastor said, turning to Chris.
I smiled at Chris, who smiled and winked at me in return. I hadn’t known he had written a song for me! The funny thing is, I had written one for him too. Like the proposal, he had gotten to it first. We really were alike.
A stool was brought over with Chris’ guitar. He sat down on the stool and took his guitar, faced me, and began to play the song he wrote for me. It was beautiful. It was about a love that is supposed to be forbidden, but could never be wrong—just like in his vows. It was called, “Never Wrong”. When he finished, I smiled at him, and told him how much I loved him. I was saving the kiss for our first kiss as husbands.
“Now, Blake also has a song that he wrote. He wrote it for Christopher, and would like to sing that now,” the pastor said. He turned to me. “You may sing it now, Blake.”
I looked at Chris, who was grinning at me. “Great minds think alike,” he said with a wink.
“And once again, you got to do yours first. I guess I’m a born second, huh?” I asked him.
Chris shook his head and smiled. “You’re first in my heart.”
I gave him another smile, and then sat in the stool that was now offered to me. Then, taking my guitar and facing Chris, I began to play my song. It was called, “I’m Forever Yours”, and it was about how no one could ever be good enough for me, but Chris. I figured it would make him feel better about his worries if he ever still had them.
When I finished, he had tears in his eyes. “I want to kiss you so badly right now,” he said with a smile.
I smiled too.
“Wait until the end of the ceremony please,” the pastor joked.
Chris and I both grinned at the pastor, and then turned to him.
“I’d like to take this time to ask if any one objects to the joining of these two men in holy matrimony. If any one does object, I ask that you speak now, or forever hold your peace.”
No one dared to speak. I had been worried that Sanjaya was going to pull some prank on me and object, but thankfully, the kid kept his mouth shut.
“Well then. By the powers vested in me, I now pronounce you husbands. You may kiss your groom,” the pastor finally pronounced.
“With pleasure!” I exclaimed.
Everyone laughed, then cheered and cooed as Chris and I kissed passionately, so happy to finally be married.
I was so happy. The moment had finally arrived, and I was going to cherish it every day of my life from then on.
“Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to introduce to you, Mr. And Mr. Lewison!” the pastor said.
Chris and I took hands and bowed towards everyone.
Everyone stood up and cheered.
We then headed down the aisle and to a more private part of the deck.
“We finally did it, baby. We’re married. I love the song you wrote for me so much! What a nice surprise. I love you so much!” I said.
“Thank you for the song you wrote for me! I love that too,” he said. “And most of all, I love you, Mr. Lewison.”
I licked my lips. “Mmm… Mr. Lewison. I like the sound of that.”
We grinned at each other, and nuzzled noses before kissing.
Suddenly, a whole bunch of bubbles were blown at us.
We both whipped around to see our wedding party blowing heart-shaped bubbles at us.
“We couldn’t use rice. The birds would be all over the deck if we did,” Melinda explained.
Chris and I laughed, and then kissed again, allowing the bubbles to surround us.
I even ignored Sanjaya, who was trying to blow the bubbles right into my face. I’d throw him overboard later. Right now, all that mattered to me was my new husband.
B∞C
We headed inside the boat for our reception lunch. Everything was good. Sligh had chosen to have a spaghetti lunch, complete with salad and garlic bread. There were sodas, coffees, teas, and alcoholic drinks, so everyone was covered there.
I swear Blake and I had to kiss like fifty times with all the times someone clinked their glass. Not that he and I were complaining.
When it cam time to cut the cake, Blake and I both grinned. There were two grooms on top that looked just like us.
“I had them special ordered,” Jordin said.
“They're awesome! Thank you,” Blake told her
“Yeah,” I said, hugging her.
“Now cut the cake, Cake!” Sligh yelled out. “I’m hungry!”
Blake and I both laughed, and then cut the cake together. It was white frosted, but chocolate on the inside. It looked so good.
When Blake and I went to feed each other, we both grinned mischievously at the other. We both knew what was coming.
We smashed the cake into each other’s face.
Blake went one step further, and began to lick the mess off my face, so I returned the favor and did the same to him. The cake was as good as it looked.
“Gosh, that’s hot!” Gina said.
Haley nodded.
Blake and I rolled our eyes and smiled.
Next, was the dances on the top deck. The chairs had been moved away, and now it was free to dance on.
I danced with my parents to a new song that was Maroon 5’s new single. Maroon 5 were so nice to play for free. I was glad that Blake and I were friends with them.
Next was my dance with Blake. We danced to our song, “She Will Be Loved”. That song had been playing the night Blake first made love to me, and had been our song ever since. They even changed the lyrics so that “beauty queen” was now “beauty king”, “seventeen” was “twenty-three”, the age I had been when Blake and I first made love, and finally “She will be loved” became “He will be loved”.
“I love you,” Blake whispered in my ear as we danced.
“I love you too,” I whispered.
When the song ended, we danced with various people. Jordin and I danced to “This Love”, and I saw Blake dancing all the girls in his wedding party at once. I shook my head and smiled. That was Blake for ya.
Finally, it was time for the bouquet toss. I had all the single women line up behind me, and then I tossed the bouquet over my shoulder, not looking.
Jordin let out a squeal, and I looked to see that she had caught it.
I laughed, and hugged her. “Good for you, girlfriend,” I told her.
She grinned. “Now if only I could find a nice boy. The best ones are always gay.”
I laughed again.
“Now you have to wear the guarder we got you so that Blake can take it off you and toss it to the single guys,” Gina said.
“What? You got me a guarder? No way!” I said.
“Yes, way!” Haley came over with a green guarder and handed it to me. “Pull your pant leg up and put that on.”
“You’ve got to be kidding me,” I said.
“Just do it, huh?” Michelle pushed.
“You guys are crazy,” I said. But, I did it anyway to make everyone happy. I then sat on a stool, and Blake came over.
“The guarder thing? Gina is crazy,” Blake said, getting down on one knee in front of me, and pulling up my pant leg anyway.
“Aw, quit your whining and take it off,” Gina said.
Blake rolled his eyes, but did so, taking it off with his teeth.
The girls all catcalled. And they thought guys were the perverted ones!
Anyway, Blake stood up with the guarder, and turned his back. “All right, all the single men line up please!”
They did, and he tossed it. Sanjaya caught it.
“So, when is the wedding guys?” Blake asked, placing an arm around Jordin and another one around Sanjaya.
“Shut up!” they both said gently pushing him away.
I laughed.
It was time to go then, for the boat had docked back at the harbor, and Blake and I had a flight to catch to Jamaica for our honeymoon. We were going to be staying at the Sandal’s resort.
There was a limo parked in front, ready to take us to the airport. It had cans and a just married sign attached to the back.
“Those are compliments of your fellow top ten,” Sligh said to me and Blake when he noticed us looking at it.
Blake and I both grinned, and then hugged every one of the people in our wedding party, kissing the girls. We also hugged our families, and thanked Maroon 5 for playing for us and everyone else for coming.
Next, we got our stuff from our cars (we had both decided it would just be easier to do it that way instead of going back for it) and the limo driver loaded our bags into the trunk, and then let us in the limo.
As the driver drove us towards the airport, our friends and family waved goodbye to us until we were out of sight.
“I love you so much. I promise I’m going to love you forever,” Blake said to me, his eyes lowering.
“You better,” I said, my eyes lowering as well. “And I promise to love you forever too.”
“You better, he said, taking my line before giving into the inevitable kiss. The kiss lasted the whole ride to the airport, well with a few short breaks to breathe of course. I had never been happier, And I knew without having to ask him that Blake felt the exact same way.
