All too soon Louisa’s time in Los Angeles ended and Sunday morning Charlotte and Georgia drove her to LAX to see her off.

‘See you again soon, remember you and Josh are welcome to stay at the farm’ Charlotte said hugging her friend ‘keep doing what you’re doing and you’ll be an official World Record holder’

‘I will and let me know what you fancy doing for our spot on the show’ Louisa said ‘I’m leaning toward something by Lady Gaga, Bad Romance or Poker Face’

‘I’ll ring you in the next few days and we’ll talk more’ Charlotte said as Louisa turned to hug Georgia ‘you’re really in with a chance of doing this Louie I’m not kidding you. I really think you can do it’

‘I hope I can’ Louisa said ‘I’ve done better so far than I thought I would and has boosted my confidence no end. Thanks for the support girls’

‘No problem now go and catch your plane home we’ll see you in September’ Georgia said pushing her friend toward the line of passengers waiting to board the flight to New York ‘have a safe flight and great sex when you get home’

Louisa giggled.
‘I will’ she said ‘see ya girls!’

Five hours later Louisa’s plane landed at La Guardia airport. She grabbed her Violin, Viola and handbag from the overhead storage compartment and disembarked the plane as soon as she was able. She hurriedly walked up the sky bridge and into the arrivals lounge immediately looking for Josh, Josef, Ben and Sam.

‘Loo Boo!’ came Josef's voice.

Louisa turned around and saw Josef, Ben and Sam standing with Josh she crouched down and the three boys rushed toward her wrapping their arms around her neck and engulfing her in a collective crushing hug.
‘Ah m’boys it’s so good to see you!’ she exclaimed hugging them all hard in turn ‘I missed you lots and lots and lots’

‘We missed you too Loo Boo!’ Ben said his blue eyes alive with excitement ‘We spent three whole hours at the park with Mockie today and she’s wreally wreally tired. She was sleepin’ in her snuggie bed when we came to the airpowt’

‘That’s good. Did you bath her?’ Louisa asked ‘she’s not stinky?’

‘Nope Daddy and Josef bathed her and Sam an’ me rinsed her’ Ben said ‘we got as wet as she did and we had to have a bath too!’

‘Did you give her one of those doggy breath mint things?’

‘Yup and she ate it wreally wreally fast. I think she’s a piggy’

‘Good he’s been sleepin’ in me, Sam an Josef’s room he spen’s one night on my bed one night on Sam’s and one night on Jo’s then one on Daddy’s’

‘Yup Daddy grumps an’ says he takes up more of the bed than you do’ Sam said with a toothy grin ‘I think he was jokin’ tho

‘I hope so’ Louisa said flashing Josh a wink as he approached them ‘and tell me Jo have you been practicing on the violin every day?’

Josef nodded so hard he looked like a bobble headed doll.
‘Yup Daddy reckons I’m getting really good and I wanna play for you soon’ Josef said brightly.

‘How about tonight after dinner at the Burger Pit?’ Louisa suggested ‘maybe I can show you what I played for the World Records people in L.A’

‘We can put on a concert?’

‘Maybe if we don’t get home too late from dinner’ Louisa said brushing Josef’s fringe out of his face ‘if we don’t do it tonight definitely tomorrow okay?’

Josef grinned.
‘Okay!’

Louisa stood up and smiled as Josh arrived wrapping his arms around her

‘Welcome home’ he whispered kissing her hungrily ‘missed you’

Louisa let out a little squeak as Josh pressed his tongue against her lips wordlessly asking her to open them. She did and immediately their kiss became more intimate and needy.

‘Hmm that kiss is full of promise’ she whispered when they eventually drew apart ‘or am I guessing?’

‘Yeah you’re guessing but correctly’ Josh murmured pressing his forehead against hers and kissing her again ‘good to have you home’

‘Good to be home’ Louisa said running her fingers through his hair ‘have you been a good boy?’

‘No very bad’ Josh whispered in her ear as he lowered his lips to her neck and suckled on the hollow there.

‘Aw Dad d’ya haff ta do that in the airpowt?’ Josef groaned ‘it’s yucky!’

Josh pulled away from Louisa and scooped Josef up onto his shoulders.
‘You’re a nosey young men Josef Bell’ he said ‘c’mon who’s hungry?’

‘Mee!’ Josef, Ben and Sam chorused.

‘You three are always hungry’ Louisa joked holding her hands out to the twins ‘doesn’t your Dad feed you?’

‘You wouldn’t think I did’ Josh said dryly as they headed for the luggage collection hall.

‘You’re thilly Dad!’ Sam said with a toothy grin.

Louisa collected her luggage from the carousels then followed Josh and his sons outside to where her SUV was parked.

‘It’s clean!’ she exclaimed in surprise.

‘Yup Daddy and us washed it after shampooin’ Mockie!’ Ben said proudly ‘he hosed us and we got soakin’ wet!’

‘So how big is my water bill going to be this quarter?’ Louisa asked Josh dryly as he opened the trunk and hoisted her suitcase up into it.

‘Ah not much’ Josh said cheerfully stowing Louisa’s Violin and Viola inside the trunk.

‘You’ve got a shit eating grin on your face what’s up?’ Louisa asked in amusement as Josef and his brothers scrambled into the car.

‘Who said this is a shit eating grin?’ Josh asked brightly slamming the trunk shut ‘I’m just glad my woman is home’

‘Uh huh sure’ Louisa said dryly ‘you’re up to something Joshua Bell I know you too well. You’re planning something I know it’

‘You’re far too suspicious sweetheart’ Josh said checking his sons were secure in their seats ‘I think L.A has been a far to bad an influence on you’

‘Oh you’re full of it’

Half an hour later Josh pulled into the driveway of Louisa’s house. Immediately upon entering the house Mocha raced out of the lounge room and bounced around her yapping excitedly.

‘Oh calm down you airhead I was only gone for three and a half days’ Louisa said to her dog scratching her back with her nails as Josh made his way up the stairs ot the second landing ‘what have the boys been doing to you? You’re nuts!’

‘We’ve not been doin’ anything to her Loo Boo she just missed you’ Josef said with a giggle as Mocha flopped onto her back and lolled her tongue out ‘just like Daddy did he was sad when you were gone’

Louisa felt her tummy flutter.
‘He was?’

‘Uh huh he was still Daddy but not as happy, when you’re home he’s happy an’ cheery and makes jokes and pways on the Stwad more’ Josef said ‘and he sighed a lot. When we were at the airpowt waitin’ for you he was bouncin’ up and down like Mockie does when waiting’ for us to fwow her ball’

‘Really? He was? So he was excited for me to come home?’

‘Yeah lots and lots’ Ben said nodding furiously.

‘You boys stay down here and keep Mocha company for a bit I’m going to go upstairs and help Dad put away my things’ Louisa said standing up ‘don’t stir her up too much’

‘Okay!’

Louisa kicked off her sandals and jogged up the stairs to the master bedroom. Josh was busily storing her violin and viola in the vault deep within the walk in robe. She walked in pushed him up against the wall wrapping her arms around his waist and bestowing upon him the most passionate and heated kiss she could manage. Josh’s eyes flew open in surprise but he quickly melted into her embrace returning the kiss hungrily.

‘Wow that was a kiss and a half’ he whispered when they eventually pulled apart ‘where did that come from?’

‘The boys told me you were pining for me when I was away’ Louisa said kissing him again ‘they said you were down the entire time I was away and when you were waiting for me at the airport was bouncing up and down like Mocha does when she’s waiting for someone to throw her ball’

Josh turned a magnificent shade of scarlet.
‘They really said that huh?’ he muttered ‘God I must be obvious’

‘So did you pine for me while I was away?’ Louisa asked softly.

Josh went if possible even redder.
‘Yeah I did’ he mumbled avoiding her gaze ‘I don’t like it when we’re apart Louie. Whenever you have to go away for work or I have to go away for recitals or teaching appointments it's hell. I hate it’

‘Well you’re not touring for a little while yet and I don’t have to go away for anything work related til the equine dentistry seminar in Kentucky in October you’re more than welcome to come over whenever you want. Even if it’s in the middle of the night. My home is your home’

‘Even in the middle of the night?’ Josh asked with a raised eyebrow.

Louisa kissed his forehead.
‘Even in the middle of the night’ she said ‘now how about we head out to dinner? I don’t know about you but I’m starving’

‘I’m starving too’ Josh said squeezing her backside.

‘Later when the boys are in bed’ Louisa said with a giggle playfully slapping his hands away ‘come on I can do the laundry when we get back. All that matters is that my instruments are away and safe’

‘A dirty euphemism just popped into my head then’ Josh said with a laugh as they walked out of the walk in robe and into the spacious bedroom itself.

Louisa rolled her eyes.
‘I bet it did’ she said dryly ‘c’mon I need food!’

Three hours later Louisa, Josh, Josef, Sam and Ben returned to Long Island.

‘Okay pal you get your violin and come back down’ Josh said to Josef ‘remember what we’re going to play?’

Josef nodded enthusiastically.
‘Uh huh’ he said ‘you going to play wif me?’

‘Of course but you’re going to show Louie how you’ve been going with Lightly Row first alright?’

‘Okay!’

‘He’s keen’ Louisa said with a giggle as Josef raced up the stairs ‘I’ve never had a student as keen as him’

‘He wants to show you he’s been practicing’ Josh said with an amused shrug of his shoulders ‘but I need to get the Strad out I’ll be back in a minute’

‘Well guys it’s just us now isn’t it?’ Louisa said to Ben and Sam as they walked into the lounge room ‘any clues as to what your father and brother are up to?’

‘We’re not allowed to tell’ Ben said jumping up onto the lounge ‘Daddy and Jo made us keep a secret’

‘Can you tell me if it’s a good secret?’

Sam grinned and crawled into her lap.
‘It’s good’ he said wrapping his chubby arms around her waist and giving her a squeeze ‘I missed you Loo Boo’

Louisa returned the hug.
‘I missed you too mischief’ she said ‘I’ll try not to go away too often. I like being with you guys too much’

‘So not just Daddy then?’ Ben said with a grin.

Louisa held out an arm to Ben and allowed him to join his brother in her lap.
‘Nope I love your Daddy lots and lots but I love you boys too’ she said giving the two boys a big squeeze ‘even when you’re being naughty and won’t go to bed or are up early in the morning telling each other to shut up’

‘We won’ do that tomorrow Loo Boo’ Sam promised as Josh and Josef came down the stairs ‘pwomise’

‘How did I know you two would be in Louie’s lap?’ Josh said dryly putting the Strad on top of the piano ‘you two sit on her lap so often there’s no time for me to sit on her lap’

‘Don’t listen to him boys he’s just jealous’ Louisa said with a grin flashing Josh a wink.

‘And that’s going to be once Jo and I have finished’ Josh said firmly ‘it’s late you know I’m only letting you stay up late because Louie came home today and it’s the weekend. Tomorrow night it’s much earlier alright?’

‘Alwright’

Louisa watched in interest as Josh crouched to help Josef set up his violin then stand up to set up the Strad.

‘Alright you show Louie how you’ve gone with the music she’s set you first then we’ll do our bit alright?’ Josh said sitting down on the piano stool and tucking the Strad under his arm.

‘Um alright’ Josef said nervously tucking his violin under his chin.

‘Ladies and gentlemen Mr Josef Bell!’ Josh said with a grin.

Louisa, Sam and Ben applauded enthusiastically. Josef grinned then poised the bow over the strings and began playing.

From the first note that rang out Louisa knew Josef had been practicing hard. Although she had set him a relatively easy tune to learn in Lightly Row and knew he would pick it up quickly the sound he was producing was pitch perfect. Each note was strong and meaty and filled every corner of the room. Louisa closed her eyes and let a smile drift across her face. She had only set the piece for Josef a week earlier but it sounded like he had been playing it for years.

Upon finishing Louisa, Sam and Ben applauded enthusiastically.

‘That was really, really good Jo really clear’ Louisa praised ‘pitch perfect and you used vibrato too well done!’

‘Fanks’ Josef mumbled going bright red ‘Mommy and Daddy are teachin’ me the wibrato. It’s hard though. I wiggle my fingers and they slip’

‘That’s alright vibrato can take a long time to get perfect’ Louisa said ‘but you did really really well. Let’s try finding a new piece tomorrow alright? Maybe something a bit harder, I think you’re ready’

Josef grinned toothily.

‘D’you want to go straight onto what we’ve been working on?’ Josh asked his son ‘are you confident?’

‘Okay then you take the melody and I’ll take the harmony, like we practiced okay?’

‘Okay’

‘One....two....three!’

Louisa kept her eyes open this time and an immediate and wide smile spread across her face when she recognized Josh and Josef playing Puff the Magic Dragon. Josh had made the wise choice to let his son take the melody of the simple tune to allow his son’s confidence grow. Inwardly she sang the song ad outwardly she hummed along softly as Josef played each note. Josh played the harmony softly and in an understated way that allowed his son to shine.

Louisa could immediately feel Sam and Ben become sleepy as the song progressed. The twins snuggled into her and were sound asleep by the time the last note rang out.

‘I think you just played your brothers to sleep Monster’ Louisa whispered softly applauding Josef ‘that was really really good I’m proud of you’

Josef lit up.
‘Wreally?’

‘Yup how long have you been learning that?’

‘Since Daddy came home fwom the tour’ Josef said ‘every day we pwacticed. He asked me what I wanted to learn and I picked Puff’

Ben and Sam may be twins but they’re different too both mischeif makers but Sam is the slightly more mellow one. He’s more likely to sit back and relax than Ben is though when they team up look out’

Josh rolled his eyes.
‘You’re not kidding’ he said dryly sipping his drink carefully ‘I’m dreading the day they discover girls’

Louisa giggled.
‘Why? Because they’ll all turn into wild bachelor mustang stallions and bring a different girl home each week?’ she said with a snort.

‘Ha ha’ Josh said dryly ‘I think it’s every parent’s fear that their kids will eventually one day discover the opposite sex’

‘Point’ Josh said with a smile ‘Rachel reckons it was fate we met. I don’t know about that but whatever it is I’m glad of it’

Louisa smiled.

After they’d finished their drinks Louisa dropped her mug in the kitchen sink and laced her fingers through Josh’s with a ‘follow me’ gleam in her eyes.
‘I think it’s time we went to bed don’t you ?’ she whispered in his ear nipping at his earlobe and squeezing his backside ‘I’m a bit tired you see’

Louisa ran up to the second landing with a playful giggle.

Louisa grabbed the bedhead and totally gave into the sensations of Josh suckling on her clit and pumping his fingers in and out of her. Soon the climax she’d been holding back peaked and her moment of ectasy arrived crashing over her violently.

Josh chuckled.

Louisa smiled.
‘I have a question for you’ she said ‘you don’t have to answer me straight away but it’s something I’ve been thinking of since we got home from the Easter trip and in particular since I left to go to L.A on Thursday’

Louisa took a deep shuddering breath.
‘How would you like to come and live with me?’ she said ‘I really love you J and want you around whenever you’re not away on tour or on teaching trips. I need you around. I know you’ve got the loft in Manhattan and I’m not asking you to give it up. But come live here. There’s plenty of room for all your most special bits and peices and room for the boys when you have them. They’re here so often I’ve thought about redecorating that room they sleep in anyway. There’s a secure vault for the Strad and plenty of room for us to get away from each other if we piss each other off. You can lock your car in the garage and you’d be closer to J.F.K and La Guardia for when you travel. I know you’d be further away from the Conservatorium but it’s not that far to drive an-‘

Josh suddenly cut Louisa off by kissing her hungrily.
‘You talk too much you know that?’ he said when they eventually pulled apart ‘that’s one thing I’ve noticed about you right from the day we met you do tend to go off’

‘Oh get stuffed I do not’ Louisa said ‘I was nervous and I bang on when I’m nervous’

‘You don’t have to be nervous about asking me anything you know that’ Josh said stroking her hair ‘you should know by now I don’t bite. Unlike you’

Louisa went bright red.
‘Yeah sorry about that’ she mumbled ‘moment of passion ya know?’

Josh chuckled.
‘I totally understand’ he said ‘I’ll regard it as a reminder of my abilities’

Louisa let out a great snort of laughter.
‘I didn’t bite you that hard’ she said with a giggle ‘it might be red for a couple of days that’s it. But if you do to me what you did five minutes ago I’ll make it a little longer lasting’

‘As long as my shoulder is the only thing you bite’ Josh said with a chuckle ‘Now are you going to let me answer your question Little Miss Distraction?’

Louisa rolled her eyes.
‘Just answer the question’ she said ‘we can discuss nicknames later’

Josh brushed her bottom lip with the pad of his thumb.
‘I’d love to’ he said ‘but I need to talk to the boys first and make sure they would be alright with coming here instead of the loft when I have them over. I won’t do it if they’re not alright with it. You know the boys happiness is paramount to me and I won’t do anything that will upset them even if it would make me happy. If they’re cool with me coming to live with you I would love to be able to wake up to you every morning’

Louisa lit up like the Vegas Strip.
‘I understand about the boys really I do’ she said ‘you can tell them from me my home is their home too. They’re welcome here anytime just like you are. In fact I don’t think this place is a home without you four’

‘You really think so?’

‘Yeah I really think so. It has more soul when the boys are racing about or you and Jo are playing and even when we’re all lounging about downstairs watching a movie or playing on the Wii. Even now at eleven at night there’s a different vibe, a good one I feel like the world is at peace. My world anyway’

Josh smiled softly.
‘So that feeling is not just me then?’ he said resting a hand on her hip and lazily tracing circles around the Hibiscus flower tattoo there.

‘Apparently not’ Louisa said dropping her shoulder to allow Josh to nibble on her neck ‘I hope we can do this J, I haven’t lived with a partner for years and years and the last one didn’t have kids. This is a whole new experience for me. I just hope we don’t end up killing each other or have the sort of arguments you and Lisa do. It’d kill me if that happened’

Josh pulled her close.
‘We’re not going to have arguments like Lisa and I because I love you not her’ he said ‘and this is a new thing for me too. Sure it’s not going to be smooth sailing no relationship is but we’ll work it out. And as you said if we piss each other off too much there’s room where we can go off and stew. This place is huge bigger than the loft’

‘What about the little recitals you like putting on?’ Louisa said.

‘I can still hold them at the loft’ Josh murmured nibbling on her earlobe ‘or if you’re okay with it we can do it here. Whatever you’re comfortable with’

Louisa grinned.
‘This is kinda exciting isn’t it ?’ she said ‘moving in together. I’m much more excited about you coming to live here than I was when I asked the ex the same question’

‘You so look like a kid in a candy store’ Josh said in amusement ‘the expression on your face is exactly the same one Jo had on his face on Christmas morning when he unwrapped the tip truck I gave him’

Louisa giggled.
‘I feel like a little kid in a candy store’ she said ‘and just think I’ll get to unwrap you every morning if you come and live here’

‘And wouldn’t I look forward to that?’

The following morning after Louisa departed for work Josh was sitting down at the dining table doing some paperwork for the Conservatorium while his sins were in the loungeroom watching Happy Feet when his Blackberry rang.

‘He rocks in the tree tops all day long,
Just hoppin’ and bopping and singin’ his song....

Smiling and knowing it was Rachel he picked up his phone and pressed ‘answer’

‘Joshua Bell best big brother in the world what do you want?’ he said with a great snort of laughter.

‘Ha ha’ Rachel said dryly ‘I don’t want anything, I just felt like ringing up my schmuck of a big brother. I tried the loft but it went straight to the answering machine and you know I hate those things’

‘I’m at Louie’s with the boys’ Josh said getting up and making his way into the kitchen ‘they’re in the living room watching Happy Feet at the moment while I’m finishing up onn some paperwork for the Conservatorium’

‘Gawd you spend more time at her house than you do at the loft’ Rachel said in amusement ‘you may as well live with her’

‘Actually she asked me last night to move in’ Josh said preparing a mug of coffee.

‘Really?’ Rachel exclaimed ‘oh that’s lovely, are you going to?’

‘Yes if the boys are alright with it’ Josh said spooning sugar into his favourite mug ‘I’m not going to do anything that’s going to upset them’

‘Oh God Josh of all the things you could do moving in with Louie would upset them the least !’ Rachel said dryly ‘they love her and I reckon they’d love it if you and Louie lived together’

‘Yeah that’s what I’ve been thinking’ Josh said ‘and as you said I spend more time here than at the loft it sort of feels like home already’

‘Well I think you deserve all the happiness that comes your way J move in with Louie I think it’ll be good for your headspace and soul’ Rachel said.

‘You really think so?’

‘I know so’ Rachel said ‘God J you and Louie are so made for each other it’s ridiculous. Of all the women I’ve seen you with she is the one meant for you. T.J was over last night and she reckons you two ought to get married and settle down. Create a life for yourselves after all the heartbreak you two have suffered you both deserve some normality’

‘T.J reckons we should get married?’ Josh asked in amusement ‘Hmm actually Jo asked me on Friday wether I was going to propose to Louie or not’

Rachel laughed.
‘Aw that’s cute’ she said ‘what did you say?’

‘I asked him if he wanted me to and the answer was a strong unequivocal yes’ Josh said ‘then Ben and Sam joined in and said they reckon I should propose too’

‘And what did you say?’ Rachel asked softly ‘do you want to?’

There was a long silence.

‘Helloooooo? Rachel said ‘wakey wakey is anyone there?’

‘Yeah I’m here’ Josh said ‘just thinking about that answer. I’ve only considered proposing one other time in my life and we all know how that ended’

‘Josh Louie isn’t Lisa she’s a totally different person inside and out’ Rachel said ‘she’s your total match, your soul mate’

‘Yeah I know she is on every level’ Josh said ‘physically, emotionally everything and she puts up with my shitty moods like a trouper. Lisa used to bait me’

‘You sound like you’re seriously considering popping the question’ Rachel said ‘I know you Josh I can hear it in the tone of your voice. You want to marry Louie don’t you?’

Josh exhaled in a rush.
‘Like you wouldn’t believe’ he said as the kettle finished boiling ‘god I’ve been thinking about it every second ever since she asked me to move in and probably been thinking about it subconsciously the whole time I was away on the latest recital tour’

‘Well I don’t want to tell you what to do but it seems to me you know what the next step is’ Rachel said softly ‘but if you did ask Louie to marry you no one in this family would be unhappy about it. We love her and the boys love her. YOU love her. Let your feelings for her govern your actions J and you’ll be fine’

‘Why did you go into teaching and not psychology like Mom and Dad?’ Josh said dryly ‘You sound like Mom when she’s analysing someone’

Rachel let out a great snort of laughter.
‘I’ve picked up some tips from her’ she said with a chuckle ‘plus I’m your baby sister and I love you it’s my job to tell you all this sort of stuff. Plus I’m a chick we’re good with feelings and love and fluffiness and all that crap. T.J and Terry would tell you the same thing’

Josh chuckled.
‘I suppose there’s an advantage to being in a family full of girls huh?’ he said in amusement.

‘You got it J whenever you need some advice on love and fluffiness come to your sisters we’re experts and are happy to help you out anytime’

‘Thanks Rach. How’s James?’

‘Brilliant sleeping like a log’ Rachel said with a happy sigh ‘much quieter than the girls ever were’

‘Well tell him Uncle Josh says hello’ Josh said with a chuckle ‘I’ll be down again for the Jacobs recital season at the end of September and I expect some Uncle Nephew time’

‘Sure as long as that includes diaper changing’ Rachel said with a snort.

‘That’s one of my many services sister dear’ Josh said with a laugh ‘I’m not just talented on the violin you know’

‘Oh pull your head out your fat ass’ Rachel said with a laugh ‘I’ve gotta go but you take care yeah?’

‘Yeah you too Rach behave now’

‘See ya later brother’

‘Bye’

Josh hung up and with a chuckle pocketed his phone.
‘Alright boys it’s time to go and meet Louie for lunch time to go the bathroom if you need to!’ he called packing up his paperwork ‘if the movie’s still running press pause we can watch it after we’ve gotten home from the park’

‘We gon a take Mockie Dad?’ Josef asked coming into the dining room.

‘Yep I’ll get her lead and our lunch you take your brothers to the bathroom alright? Go to the downstairs one it’s quicker’

‘Awright’

Josh put away his briefcase then collected Mocha’s lead and the lunch he'd made for himself his sons and Louisa earlier. He then called Mocha and the red and white dog belted down the hallway and skidded to a stop banging into the front door with a thunk.

‘When are you going to learn that you shouldn’t do that?’ he said with a snort of laughter as Mocha shook herself ‘I thought dogs like you were supposed to be smart?’

Minutes later Josef and his brothers emerged from the downstairs bathroom and followed their father outside to the Porsche. Josh tied Mocha up in the foot well of the front passenger seat then saw his sons were securely belted up.

‘I have a question for you three’ he said as he started the engine and began reversing down the drive.

‘What’s that Dad?’ Josef asked.

‘How would you feel if in future when you come to stay with me you come here to Louie’s house instead of the loft?’

‘Oh wow wreally? That’s be fun!’ Josef said lighting up ‘we could go swimmin’ in the pool al the time and take Mockie to the doggy park and camp out in the RV and sweep in the bean bags and all the fun stuff’

‘Yup you would be able to do that’ Josh said ‘well last night Louie asked me if I would like to come and live with her. That would mean I would be living here and sleeping here at night instead of the loft. What do you reckon about that?’

‘Yay!’ Ben and Sam chorused clapping happily.

‘Would we sweep in the same woom?’ Josef asked hopefully.

‘Yup and Louie said she would redecorate the room especially for you three so you can make it exactly like your room at the loft’ Josh said.

‘Would we ever go back to the loft Daddy?’ Ben asked.

‘Yeah pal we would’ Josh said pausing at a red light ‘I’m not selling it I would just be living with Louie instead of in Manhattan. You know those little recitals I have at home?’

‘Uh huh’

‘Well I would still have them at the loft ad you guys, Louie and I could still stay there especially for the Macy’s Parade, you like that don’t you?’

‘Yeah it’s fun the Wiggles were in it this year!’

‘Well we can still see if even with me living over here with Louie’

‘When are you going to move Dad?’ Josef asked.

‘Dunno pal I would have to work that out with Louie’ Josh said ‘probably not until you go back to Mommy’s on Friday’

‘Mommy’s not going to like it is she?’ Josef said perceptively.

Josh sighed afraid this would come up.
‘Probably not Jo but your Mommy knows I love Louie and people who are in love live together’ he said ‘like your Mommy and I did when you were really little remember?’

‘Uh huh you and Louie aren’t goin’ to fight like you and Mommy are you?’

‘No pal definitely not’ Josh said ‘Louie and I have argued and we will argue in the future but out arguments are different to the ones your Mommy and I have. People that love each other argue occasionally no one in the world never has an argument. You understand?’

Josef furrowed his brow as he deciphered his father’s explanation.
‘Yup’ he said eventually ‘are you still gonna ask Louie to marry you?’

‘Maybe one day kiddo’ he said ‘I’ve thought about it but asking someone to marry you is a big deal and it has to be done for the right reasons. But when I do I’ll let you know alright? Until then top top secret’

Josef grinned.

And as he drove toward Leacham and Byley Josh thought back to his conversation with Rachel. He did sound like he was ready to propose. He was ready to propose. After almost a year with Louisa he knew he was healed emotionally but would leave it at moving in with her first before he finally popped the big question.
