Chapter 32

++++++++

The girls all laughed as Kelly threw a skittle, hitting Mary in the forehead.

"What?" Mary asked. "I swear I totally saw him slip you the tongue one time."

"He did not," Kelly argued, her cheeks a light red as she stood. "Now, I'm going get some more coke. Anyone want some?"

Carrie immediately hopped to her feet.

Kelly shook her head, laughing softly as she took her arm, "Come on."

Carrie followed her out of Lyndsey's room and down the hall to the kitchen.

"You doing ok?" Kelly asked curiously, digging in the fridge for something to drink.

"Yea."

"You've barely said two words," she pointed out.

"But they were both good words."

Kelly smiled, turning to her, "No need to be nervous around them, Care. I promise they like you. You're one of us now, k? Just relax."

Carrie nodded, "Ok."

"Good, here," Kelly handed her a Sprite. "You ready?"

"Yea."

Kelly followed her back to the room, sitting back down in their previous spots on the floor, "So, what's next?"

"Truth or Dare!" Lyndsey cheered.

"Yes," Mary agreed.

"No," Ashley replied quickly.

"Yea, come on, Ash," Kelly grinned.

"I don't know," Jessica said carefully.

"It's up to you, Carrie," Lyndsey smiled. "What's it gonna be?"

"Oh, well, I don't know...I mean, it is your house, so..."

"The yeses have it," Lyndsey nodded, rubbing her hands together.

"Oh, me first!" Mary raised her hand.

"Ok, Mary first."

"Kelly, truth or dare."

Kelly smiled, "The night's still young, I'll start with truth."

"Eric...did he or did he not slip you the tongue during the play tonight?"

"No!" Kelly exclaimed.

"Liar!" Mary teased, ducking as Kelly threw another skittle.

"Ok, Lyndsey," Kelly grinned. "Truth or Dare."

"Truth."

Jessica narrowed her eyes as she towel dried her hair, sitting in a pair of dry pajamas, "Y'all are wrong."

"What?" Mary asked innocently.

"Skinny dipping...really?"

"You said dare."

"Oh, it's totally on, now," Lyndsey's eyes lit up. "Carrie. Truth or Dare."

"Huh?" Carrie asked nervously.

"Guys, I don't know," Kelly frowned, seeing Carrie grow nervous.

"It's all innocent," Lyndsey insisted.

"Innocent my ass," Jessica replied.

"You're white ass," Mary corrected, sending all six girls into fits of giggles.

"Ok, ok," Lyndsey settled them down finally. "Carrie...truth or dare."

"Um, truth...no dare, I mean dare."

"Dare?" Lyndsey's eyes got wide.

"Dare?" Kelly questioned.

Carrie nodded, not wanting to seem like the wimp of the group. By then, all the other girls had already done some sort of dare.

"Hm..." Lyndsey looked at Carrie thoughtfully. Her eyes lighting up as Mary whispered something into her ear. Her gaze turned to Kelly. "Carrie...I dare you to kiss Kelly."

"What?" Kelly's jaw dropped. "This isn't my dare."

"For ten seconds," Lyndsey finished.

"Ten?" Carrie swallowed hard.

"Yea, we figure we'd help Kelly along in the kissing department. I mean, really now, a senior in high school and she's only kissed one person?"

"Um...I..." Carrie turned to Kelly.

Kelly gave a slight nod, realizing why Carrie had taken the dare in the first place.

"O-ok," Carrie agreed.

Kelly took a deep breath as Carrie scooted closer to her.

"You ok?" she whispered softly.

Kelly nodded, closing her eyes as Carrie leaned forward, pressing their lips together. She could feel her face turning bright red, and was sure the Oklahoma native's was too. She felt Carrie's hand on her arm, squeezing gently as their lips brushed together. She placed her hand on Carrie's shoulder as she took Carrie's bottom lip in between her own, sucking gently. Carrie's hand squeezed her arm a little harder, and Kelly pulled back apologetically. "Sorry."

"No, no," Carrie shook her head, but was cut off.

"That wasn't ten seconds," Lyndsey protested.

"It was plenty long enough," Jessica frowned, glancing over at Ashley. "I think it's time we did something else."

"But Ashley didn't do a truth yet," Mary pointed out.

Carrie still sat frozen, studying Kelly carefully, her heart echoing in her ears as the Texan looked away shyly.

"Carrie," Lyndsey called her back to reality.

"Huh? Yea?" she asked, turning to them.

"It's your turn. Ashley needs a truth."

"A truth?" Carrie asked, turning to Ashley. She felt bad as she saw her trying to cover the look of hurt on her face. "Um, don't y'all think it's time we did something else?"

"Yep, see, it's her turn...it's her call," Jessica nodded. "And I fully agree."

"Party pooper," Mary tossed a piece of popcorn at her.

Jessica laughed, throwing it back, "How about a movie?"

"Oh, a scary one, definitely," Lyndsey nodded, jumping up to go get one.

"Hey," Carrie greeted softly, as she entered the kitchen where Kelly was sitting on the island, eating a bowl of cereal.

"Hey," Kelly offered a smile. "Couldn't sleep either?"

"You stepped on my arm."

Kelly laughed, "I've never woken you once, climbing over you in a little bitty bed, but give us an entire room, and I step on you...my bad."

"It's ok," Carrie shrugged, pouring her own bowl of cereal. "So, why are you awake?"

"I suck at sleeping."

Carrie laughed, "I've seen you sleep for ten hours straight."

"Not on a hard ass floor."

"Um, yea, actually once when we fell asleep in front of my t.v."

"Yea, but I totally had you as a pillow."

"True," Carrie nodded, hopping onto the island to sit beside her. "I am glad you woke me, though."

"Yea?"

"I kinda wanted to talk to you."

"About what?"

"The kiss."

"Yea, about that, I'm sorry. I mean, I'm still new at this, and learning, so I'm not always quite sure if what I'm doing is right."

Carrie smiled, "I figured that's what you were thinking when you apologized after. That's why I wanted to talk to you. Why'd you pull back?"

"You squeezed my arm, and you kinda breathed in sharply; I thought you didn't like it, or I hurt you or something."

"Kell," Carrie began carefully. "When it comes to squeezing or breathing or whatever, there's a difference between being in pain and maybe being a little surprised, but feeling very good."

"You were surprised?"

"You just hadn't taken control like that before."

"Sorry," she apologized.

"Did you miss the part where I said felt very good?"

"It felt good?"

Carrie nodded.

"This kissing thing is way more complicated than I thought," Kelly sighed.

Carrie studied her carefully, "How about I show you?"

"Show me?"

"What it felt like."

Kelly looked at her, confused.

"Can I kiss you?" Carrie asked.

Kelly bit her bottom lip, nodding.

Carrie brought a hand up, cradling her face, bringing her thumb just below the short Texan's bottom lip, getting her to release it. She took a steadying breath before leaning forward and pressing their lips together. Her head tilted as Kelly's lips parted slightly, and she captured her bottom lip in between her own, sucking gently. She felt Kelly's hand that was resting on her knee, squeeze her leg softly. Carrie let her go, placing a chaste kiss against Kelly's lips before pulling back. "See?"

Kelly nodded, going back to biting her own lip.

"What's wrong?" Carrie asked, worriedly.

"Nothing," she shook her head.

"Then what do you want to ask?"

Kelly laughed softly, "You know me well."

Carrie nodded, sitting patiently.

"Do you think, maybe, that you could, you know, kinda, maybe teach me?"

"Teach you?"

"How to kiss?" Kelly looked at her nervously.

"Really?" Carrie asked. "I'm not like an expert or anything, you know."

"But you're really good," Kelly pointed out bluntly, making Carrie blush. "Plus you could tell me what I'm doing wrong or what works. I can't figure that out by myself. Everybody else has like years on me when it comes to this. I don't want to be known as the crappy kisser."

"Crappy kisser?" Carrie laughed. "That won't happen."

"Please?"

Carrie took a deep breath, thinking for a moment before nodding, "Alright."

"Cool," Kelly grinned.

++++++++++

"Hey Ash," Kelly smiled, bouncing onto the sofa next to her. "Slept good?"

"Sure," she nodded. "Heard you get up though...then Carrie. Everything ok?"

"Yea, everything's perfect."

"Perfect?"

"Yea, why wouldn't it be?"

"I don't know. I just wasn't sure...with the kiss. I mean, I didn't know how you felt about that."

"It was just a kiss," Kelly shrugged. "Totally innocent, right?"

"Yea," Ashley nodded as Carrie walked into the room.

"Ready to go, Bambi?"

"Yep," Kelly nodded, standing with a smile. "See you at school, Ash."

"See you," Ashley gave a short wave.

Kelly turned, following Carrie to the door. "Bambi?"

"It's the innocent thing," Carrie shrugged with a teasing smile as she held the door open for her, not adding that next to her own mother, Ashley was the last person she wanted to call Kelly baby in front of.

"Since we're on a Disney theme, can I call you Bashful?"

"The shy thing?"

"Yep," Kelly grinned.

Carrie laughed as she reached out, ruffling her hair.
