"We can understand the sentiment you’re saying to us.
Oh, but sensible sells so could you kindly shut up,
And get started at keeping your part of the bargain.
Aw please little darlin,
You’re killing me sweetly with love."

"I don't wanna," Carrie pouted, making Ann, her assistant laugh.
Laura, her manager, looked at her crossly.
"What?" Carrie asked innocently. "Don't I get a say in what I want and don't want to do?"
"Of course you do," Laura nodded. "It's just that lately, you've actually chosen to use that choice."
"I just don't see why I can't wear jeans, or like a nice sundress or something."
"Because it's a fitness magazine," Laura reminded.
"So?"
"So, what's the point if people can't see how fit you are?"
"But a bikini?" Carrie frowned, crossing her arms over her chest subconsciously.
"I don't see what the problem is," Laura replied. "You're looking great right now, and any little spot that doesn't, they'll just airbrush anyway."
"I don't care how good I look, that's not the point."
"You've worn a bikini before in front of people. How is that any different than this?"
"Easy. I wore a bikini to actually go swimming. Not to parade around in in order to show off my body. Plus, that was in front of friends. This is in front of the entire world!" she exclaimed, waving her arms for emphasis.
Several heads in the small cafe turned their way, and Laura pulled Carrie's arm down, shushing her.
"It's not the entire world. It's just a couple photographers."
"The entire world is gonna see the pictures though," Carrie's voice softened.
Laura sighed, "Are you really this against the photo shoot?"
Carrie looked up at her nervously.
"Fine," she nodded. "Don't worry about it. I'll see if they can change the concept, if not, we'll just cancel it altogether. How's that sound?"
"Good," Carrie smiled.
"Good," Laura smiled back, patting her arm. "You know I'm only looking out for you, right?"
"And thank God for that," Carrie nodded, picking up the check, ignoring the other two's protests.

Jason laughed as he walked into the control booth in the studio, bringing Kelly a couple more bottles of water. He found his sister, laying upside down in the chair, her legs straight up in the air, and her head hanging over the seat.
"Hardly working?" he smiled, handing her a bottle.
"Working hard," Kelly corrected, opening it.
Jason's smile grew as he watched her trying to figure out the best way to drink it in her current position.
"I'm trying to get my creative juices flowing," Kelly explained, giving up on drinking the water, and focusing her attention on how to get out of the chair.
Jason shook his head, leaning over to help her, pushing her feet over her head as she rolled backwards onto the floor.
"There," Kelly grinned, sitting back in the chair the proper way and drinking the water her brother had brought.
"So how's it going?" Jason asked, pulling over the other chair and sitting next to her.
"Good, I think," she nodded.
"You think?"
"Honestly, I'm spitting out more songs right now than we can take. I mean, we want to get this record out and finished, but we can't do that until we're sure we have the best songs, and the majority of the new ones are really good."
"Well, have you figured out the theme or whatever you want for this album?"
"Yea," she nodded again.
"Then why don't you just start narrowing down the songs you have right now. You have to start making final decisions. I mean, do you think you have enough great songs to make a complete album?"
"Definitely."
"Then just work with what you got."
"What about the new ones?" Kelly asked.
Jason looked at her apprehensively, "How soon are you willing to make an album after this one?"
"What do you mean? I mean, I have to do promotion, then you have a single, then I have to tour, then hopefully I'll have more than one single..."
"Now, don't get upset, this is just a suggestion," Jason began, taking a deep breath. "But how many albums are you under contract for?"
"Five," Kelly replied surely. Her eyes grew wide as she repeated her answer more slowly this time, "Five."
"Now, I'm not saying do this album, then spit another one out like two months later. It's just...would it be terribly bad to have two albums closer together than the last two. I mean, let's say you get this album finished and released by the end of the summer, right? That was the original plan, right? Then, in like a year and a half from now, you could be free from all this crap."
"But what if this album blows up like Breakaway? I'm gonna need more than a year for it."
"You think they'll let it?" Jason asked bluntly.
Kelly sighed, "What do you think will happen when my contracts up?"
"My guess is, when the fifth album rolls around they'll be waiting on you hand and foot because the bottom line is, no matter how much they refuse to admit it, you're their top money making female pop artist."
"But what should I do?" Kelly asked. "I mean, do I stay with them? I know that sounds like a dumb question, but at least with them I know I have the tools to work with the best of the best."
"What good is it to work with the best of the best if nobody ever hears what you work on?"
Kelly shrugged.
"You don't have to worry about any of that now, anyway. Like I said, you've got a least a year and a half until then, depending on what you decide. So much is going to change between now and then, so don't stress. I'm just saying, this way you'll at least have the option sooner in case it gets worse."
Kelly nodded, running a hand through her hair.
Jason smiled, squeezing his sister's shoulder gently.
"Have I ever said you're the best personal assistant slash schedule maintainer slash body guard slash level headed person slash big brother ever?"
"At least once a week, yea," he laughed.
"Yea, well it'll be twice a week this week," she smiled. "Thanks."
"You too," Jason nodded.
