Everlasting Love(Pt35)
“These stairs are going to be the death of me.” Sav grumbled.
“Bit your tongue.” Joe scoffed back at him, supporting Sav on the left side as he slowly and cautiously made his way down the stairs.
“By the time I get to the bottom, I’m too tired to do anything other than go right back up to bed and sleep.”
“Then let me carry you.”
“No!...I have to do this. Or I’ll never get better…let me sit down here and rest.”
“It’s not that much further, come on you can do it.” Joe encouraged him.
“No…I don’t want to, hate these stairs.” Sav pouted.
Joe rolled his eyes. “Stop your whining Sav, you do this every night.”
”With good reason Joe, these stairs wear me out.”
“Ok fine, I’ll sell the house and buy one without stairs.” gently pulling on Sav’s arm to get him moving again.
“You can’t sell the house, you’ve lived here for…for…ah hell along time.”
“If it will make it easier on you, I will.”
“You can’t sell it, I love this house.” Sav paused again.
“You just said you hated it.”
”Nooo….I hate the stairs, love the rest of it.”
“Make up your mind.” Joe gently tugged him again. “Ok, we’ll do this. Have a room built off the patio and move you down here, that way you won’t have to go up and down the stairs.”
”No….I don’t want to do that either.” Sav continued to pout.
”Why not?”
”I would still have to go up and down. You’re up there, me down here…no that wouldn’t work either. I should have gone back to the Underground, there isn’t any stairs there.”
“Do you want to go back?”
“No…I would miss these hated stairs.” Sav huffed.
“No!...is that the only word you know these days?”
“No.” Sav turned a cheeky grin to him.
“Oh geeze….ooook…why don’t I have one of those chair lifts installed on the stairs. You can ride on your butt up and down them.”
“Naa, that wouldn’t work either.”
“Why the hell not!?”
“It’s too slow.”
”Too slow! It would move faster than you are Rick!” Joe yelled.
Sav stopped again. “Why are you yelling at me?”
“I’m not!!...” Joe caught himself, took a deep breath. “I’m not yelling, just trying to make it easier for you.”
“On you, you mean. Why don’t I just roll down the stairs? You can pick me up at the bottom.” Sav let go of his cane and flung his arm out in front of him, indicating the stairs and quickly grabbed the banister to keep from falling “…or slid down on my butt.”
“You could or would get hurt doing that.” Joe told him.
“It would save you the hassle of doing this every night.”
“It’s not a hassle.”
“You act like it is.” Sav mumbled and went down another step. “I’m too tired now, I want to go back to my room.”
”Oh good grief Rick!” Joe growled. Wrapping his arms around his waist, Joe picked him and flew down the rest of the way, straight into the living room. Sitting him on the floor, Joe pushed him onto the couch.
“I want to go back to my room Joe.”
Placing his arms on the back of the couch, Joe leaned within inches of his face. Sav dropped his head back and looked up at him.
“You are down here now and you are going to stay. So sit there and be quiet.”
“Fine.”
“Good…” Joe smiled broadly. “I’ll be right back with our dinner.” Kissing him firmly on the lips, he straightened and left the room.
“Grump.” Sav mumbled.
“I heard that.” Joe called back. “You’re the grump!”
”I’m not!”
”Are too!”
“I am not!” Sav yelled.
“Yes you are!”
”Shut up Joe!....or I’ll….”
”Or you’ll what.” Joe whispered in his ear.
Sav shivered from the cool breath that blew across his ear. “Um…di...did you bring my dinner?”
A deep chuckle resounding in Sav’s ear, turning his head to see Joe disappear around the corner.
Going into the kitchen, Joe sighed with relief upon seeing Evelyn sitting at the table eating her dinner.
“Evelyn I…”
”Oh no you don’t.”
“You don’t even know what I was going to say.”
”Yes I do. ‘Could you help me with Sav?’ “ She told him, mocking his voice. “The answer is no. You’re the one that agreed to take care of him while everyone else took a break and I will not….don’t you dare bat those green eyes at me Joe Elliott, it’s not going to work.”
Joe growled deep in his throat, spinning toward the refrigerator to snatch a bottle of Juliana's blood for Sav. “You sure have gotten ornery in your old age.”
Evelyn smiled at him. “Better take that to him before he starts…”
“I’m going to die of hungry in here!” Sav’s voice yelled from the other room.
“…yelling for it.” Evelyn finished.
Joe grabbed a glass from the cabinet. “Thanks for your help.” He huffed and stomped from the room.
Evelyn giggled, shaking her head. “Those two are going to be at each others throat before weeks end.”
Joe came back into the living room to find Sav flipping through the channels on the TV. “Why do you even bother paying for this crap, there is nothing on?”
“Maybe if you slowed down that finger of yours on the button and leave it on the channel longer than a milla second, you might have better luck.”
“Ah, what’s the use, nothing on.”
Joe handed him his glass. “Give me that, I’ll find something to watch.” Sitting beside him, he flipped the TV, going much slower.
“uugg…yuck.”
Joe turned to see what the problem was. Sav was frowning and looking in his glass. “What, is it bad?”
“No…you didn’t warm it up, it’s cold, really gross.”
“Just drink it.” Joe told him.
“No…its cold, here, you drink it, see if you like it.”
“It’s the same temperature as your body.”
”No it’s not, this is colder, go warm it up or I won’t drink it.”
Taking the glass back, Joe got up and went back to the kitchen, stuck it in the microwave and turned it on. Leaning back against the counter, arms folded across his chest. “Why did I agree to this again?”
“You love him.” Evelyn smiled.
“How many days have they been gone?”
”4.”
”How many days until they get back?”
“6.”
Joe groaned and dropped his head.
“Don’t let it get too hot and it’s time for his medicine.”
Opening the microwave, Joe held the glass in his hand, trying to gage if the contents was to hot and grabbing the needle with Sav’s medicine from the drawer. “Thanks for reminding me about this.” Holding the needle up as he left the room.
Going back to the living room, Sav was flipping through the channels again. “Commercial…commercial….commercial….you pay for…comm…”
“Just turn it off.” Joe said holding the glass out.
“What are you going to do with that?” Sav asked seeing the covered needle in Joe’s hand.
“It’s time for your medicine.”
”You are not going to do it.” Sav whined. “It hurts when you do it…Evelyn!” he yelled.
”I do not…here take this.”
“You’re not doing it Joe.” Sav reached for the glass, it slipped from his finger, spilling in his lap. “aahh…shit…ouch!!”
“Goddamnit Rick!...you ruined the couch…pay attention ne….”
”I was! You didn’t let me get my hands on!….oh shit this is hot…” Sav hissed through his teeth, swiping his hand over his sweats.
“It wasn’t that hot.” Joe told him.
“Then ask my leg why it’s stinging from the heat.”
Joe reached down and held the material away from his legs until it cooled off. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to get it that hot.” he whispered.
“Now I’m all sticky and I won’t be able the sleep sticky.”
”Then I’ll give you a bath.”
“No…I don’t want you too, you might get the water to hot on purpose and I don’t want to go up those blasted stairs again.”
Joe stuck the needle in his back pocket, scooped Sav from the couch.
“Hey wha…what are you doing?”
”Carrying you upstairs to give you a bath.”
“I’d rather go to bed sticky.”
Joe ignored him and continued up the stairs, down to the master bathroom with a bigger tub. Putting Sav on the floor and helped him to sit down on the small chair. Turning the water on to fill the garden tub, he adjusted it to his liking. Grabbing the peach smelling bubble bath and poured a generous amount into the water.
“Take your shirt off.” Joe told him as he left the room. He came back a few minutes later with clean fresh clothes for Sav and himself.
“The water is too hot Joe.”
“Not its not.” He replied and knelt down in front of him. “Lift up so I can pull your pants off.”
Sav did as Joe asked just as Evelyn came in.
“I’ll give him the shot Joe.”
Sav smiled up at her and twisted a bit in the chair. Joe handed her the needle. Evelyn pulled the waistband down on is underwear and stuck the needle in the fleshiest part of his butt.
“mmm a woman’s touch is better for this.”
“All done.” Evelyn kissed his cheek, then Joe’s. “I’ll bring him another glass, then I’ll be downstairs reading, if you need anything.” She pulled the door halfway closed.
“Ok.” Joe said, helping Sav up and off with his underwear. Once he was in and settled, Joe removed his clothes and got in behind him. Putting his legs on either side of Sav, Joe pulled him against his chest so he could stretch his legs out in front of him.
“We’ll be peachy clean at least.” Sav chuckled. “Are you mad?”
“No…I’m really sorry for getting your drink too hot. I saw the red marks it left on your thigh.”
Sav bent his knee, lifting one of his legs out of the water. “It’s not too bad, just stings a little bit from the hot water.”
Evelyn came in with his drink, sitting the glass just behind Joe on the ledge. “Fresh warm glass Sav, be sure you drink it all.”
“Yes ma'm.” Sav winked and smiled up at her.
When Evelyn was gone, Joe sighed heavily and rested his head back against the ledge around the tub, propping is elbows on the side. Letting the heat of the water warm his cool body. Sav was wiggling in front of him playing with the bubbles, his lower back rubbing against his groin.
“Where is Nick?” Sav suddenly asked, breaking the long silence.
Joe was surprised by his question, he hadn’t asked about Nick since he got there three weeks ago. “Why do you ask?”
“Um…well, I figured he would have stayed here while I was gone, but I haven’t seen him yet.”
“He’s in Wales. Nick has been busy the last couple of years, rebuilding his childhood home.”
“His childhood home was a castle.” Sav raised his head from where he had been resting it on Joe’s shoulder. “Have you been there, seen it?”
“I’ve been there a lot of times.”
“Oh.”
Joe grabbed the medium sized sponge from its holder, dipping it into the water. “Set up and I’ll wash your back.” He pushed Sav’s hair over his shoulder, running the sponge slowly over his back.
“Ha…have you...did you…um…did you sleep with him again after you left the Underground?”
Joe’s hand stilled on his back. “Yes.” He resumed washing his back, letting the water run down.
“Oh.”
“Does it bother you that I did?”
Sav shrugged his shoulder. “In some ways I guess, but I won’t hold it against you. Look how many times I did it, not just with Nick, but other men as well and you don’t hold that against me.”
”No I don’t.” Joe replied, sitting up a bit, he brought his knee out of the water to lean against the side, pulling Sav back against his chest. Moving the sponge to the front, Joe started washing his chest, dipping below the water line each time he moved it downward. Squeezing the water out as he ran it along his shoulder, down to the water and up to the other side, doing that several times before he let it go and used his bare hand. The bubbles and water making his skin slick, his hand softly glided over his nipples. Joe leant his head down, barely touching the skin with his lips as he moved along his shoulder to his neck.
Sav nearly jumped from the tub, when Joe’s hand lightly grazed over his groin, only to move back up his chest. He could feel Joe’s growing hardness pressed into his back.
“Joe…” he said in a breathless whisper.
“Hum.” Nipping the skin on Sav’s neck, his hand disappeared under water to gently stroke him.
“mmm…we ca…”
Joe gently grabbed his chin, tilting Sav’s head up, covering his mouth with his cutting off any more words from Sav. Joe groaned deep in his throat as he wrapped his fingers around Sav’s cock.
Sav tore his mouth away from Joe and stopped the movement of his hand with his. “Stop!” Grabbing the edge of the tub he pulled himself to a sitting position.
“What’s wrong?” Joe reached out to touch his shoulder, Sav cringed away from him.
“Rick…”
”I want to get out now.”
“Did I do something wron…?”
“Could you get Evelyn to help me out?”
”She’s not strong enough to hel…”
”Evelyn!!” Sav yelled.
Joe quickly stood and stepped out of the tub, snatching his rob from the hook on the back of the door, going back to help Sav out.
“Don’t touc…EVELYN!!…get away Joe.” Sav scooted as far away as he could get.
“Rick...what did I do?”
Evelyn came through the door to see Joe leaning over the tub and Sav cringing away from him. “What’s going on?”
Joe stood up and faced her. “I don’t know…I was washing his chest an…and my hand went to his um….you know and now he won’t let me touch him.”
“Evelyn could you help me out, I…I don’t want Joe…get him out.”
Joe turned back to Sav dumbfounded. “Rick please…”
”No.” Sav slapped his hands over his ears. “I don’t want to hear it.”
“Philip just came home…” Evelyn started and took Joe’s arm pulling him to the door. “…go get him and he can help me.”
“o-ok” Joe mumbled, looking over to Sav.

Little over an hour later, Evelyn found Joe sitting on the patio off from the kitchen, nursing a stiff bottle of blood wine.
“He’s resting comfortably.” She told him sitting in the chair beside him.
“I’ve been sitting here trying to figure out what I did wrong and I can’t come up with anything.”
”You didn’t do anything wrong Joe.”
“I did or he wouldn’t have acted that way. I started washing him like I have been doing every night.”
”This is the first time you got in the tub with him.”
“That shouldn’t have made a difference, he was fine until my hands got a little carried away and started rubbing his…”
”You don’t have to tell me anymore.” Evelyn laced her fingers with his.
“Did he talk to you, tell you anything?” Joe turned worried eyes to her.
”He’s afraid.”
“Afraid of what? That I don’t love him anymore, because of the way he looks. I told him it doesn’t matter what he looks like. I wouldn’t have tried to start something in the tub if that were the case.”
“That’s not what he’s afraid of.”
“Then what is it then?”
“He hasn’t had sexual intercourse with anyone in over 4 years, other than Juliann that one time, getting it on tape for you.”
”He told you about that?”
“For a vampire that has very little coloring, he blushed and fidgeted with his fingers the whole time.” A soft smile played on her lips. “But that isn’t what set him off Joe. Sav is afraid that you will get sick when you take his blood when you need too during sex.”
“The poison is still in his blood, he told me that.”
“Right. Couldn't you take yours if...”
“It wouldn't be the same...intensity.”
“Oh.”
“What could it do…make me throw up? I think I can handle that.”
”He doesn’t know what it will do really and he doesn’t want to take the chance, that’s why he acted that way.”
”He told me that too, taking the chance, but he doesn’t know what it will do either, just because the poison is still there, doesn’t mean it’ll make me sick.” Joe looked down at his glass. “I’ve waited over 4 years to have him home where he belongs, to be with him again…intimately. Nobody told me I couldn’t take his blood.” Joe sat his glass down and stood up.
Evelyn stopped him before he went inside. “What are you going to do Joe?”
“I’m going to find out if Rick’s blood will make me sick.”
Evelyn jumped from her chair and ran after him. “Joe wait, you can’t do that, wait for Malvin to get back first.”
Joe stopped at the bottom of the stairs. “I have waited Evelyn…4 long years I’ve waited and then some. Well I’m not waiting any more and don’t even try to talk me out of doing this.” he spun on his heels, taking the stairs two at a time.
Evelyn knew she would be fighting a losing battle if she did try talking to him. Thinking quickly she ran for the phone and punched in Malvin’s number, briefly telling him what Joe was attempting to do. Malvin told her they would leave right now, heading back to the house and hung up.
Evelyn knew they would never make it in time to stop Joe from completing what he set out to do. She ran upstairs to try and stall him, but the door to Sav’s room was locked.
