Chapter Thirty-Five ~ Wanna be starting something
~*~*~*~
Wayne came into the large hotel room his eyes directly on his boss.
“Yo, ready to go MJ?” Wayne asked, his eyes finally glancing at me. “Actually, I want to go back to the states…” Wayne’s eyes widened with shock. “What!?!? You can’t! You have to finish the album! What will Sony think?” “I don’t care what they think…Crystal…” Wayne’s eyes narrowed at me, something in his eyes snapped. “Oh her, she’s nothing but trouble. She‘s no reason to interrupt your plans MJ--” Something inside me snapped. I wasn’t about to keep quiet this time. “How dare you!?!? I am not some damn groupie who worms their way into Michael‘s life!” I closed the distance between Wayne and I as I pushed my forefinger into his chest. Sure, he was three times the size of me, but that wasn’t going to stop me. I held up my left hand and showed the ring that I had accepted the night before when I accepted Michael’s marriage proposal. “Do you see this ring? Do you see it?” I asked angrily pushing my hand up to Wayne’s face so that he could see the ring. “Do you even realize what it means?” “I-I’m sorry, why didn’t you tell me Mike?” Wayne asked, his face flushing with embarrassment. His eyes looked at Michael who had faded into the background, not wanting to get in the middle of my rant. “I tried before you interrupted me.” “So in the car last night…you two…” “We’re engaged, yes.” “Mike man, I-I’m sorry…” “Don’t apologize to me, apologize to her. She’s the one you hurt.” Michael said, his eyes meeting mine. He mouthed an ‘I love you.’ I nodded in acknowledgement. Wayne swallowed hard. “Miss. I’m sorry. Please forgive me, I didn’t realize that Mike loved you that much. I just don’t want to see him get hurt again you know. He’s been my friend and boss for years…and--” I put my hand on his shoulder and nodded. “Wayne it’s okay. I understand what it must have looked like. I’m sorry for snapping at you like that…” “Don’t apologize, I was being a real asshole to you and I had no reason to be.” “Wayne.” Michael scolded. “Mike, don’t scold me, you have a worse mouth than I do when you’re angry…” Wayne teased looking at Michael. Michael rolled his eyes. “Yeah, whatever.” Michael said, kicking in Wayne’s direction, Wayne dodged Michael’s foot. All three of us laughed a little before silence enveloped the room again. “So, does um…” “Crystal.” Michael said softly. “Huh?” “That’s her name, Crystal.” Michael said, looking at Wayne before winking at me. Wayne cleared his throat. “Of course…my bad. So does Crystal need to get anything from her friend’s house?” Wayne asked looking at Michael, then at me. “Yeah, I need to pack my stuff up…babe, what about your flight back to Ireland…” “Flight?” Wayne looked at Michael he was perturbed. “What else are you not telling me man! I ought to knock your head in…” Michael did a back flip off the back of the chair and began to run as Wayne began to chase him. Michael was way faster than bulky Wayne however. It was a fun sight to see. “I thought you wanted to go sight seeing!” “I do!” “What’s this about a flight then Mike? Huh?” Wayne said, as Michael used a chair to block Wayne temporarily before diving around the chair. Wayne had anticipated this through and caught Michael before hanging him upside down over his back. “Wayne!!!! LET ME DOWN!” “Not until you tell me!” Wayne demanded. “I told Crystal about us going to the airport so I could get her spend the night with me! Okay?!?! LET ME DOWN!” Michael said, giving in. I laughed at the display of chivvying. Wayne finally put Michael down, satisfied at his Michael’s answer. “Why didn’t you tell me man?” “If I told you the whole plan would’ve been ruined.” Wayne shook his head. “I can keep a secret,” Wayne looked at me and winked. My cheeks flushed with blood. “Well, its too late, obviously my plan worked the way it was.” Michael said looking at me and winking. A bright smiled lined my lips. Michael sat on the couch resting his head on the back of the chair, closing his eyes. “So, you’re telling me that there’s no plane?” “Not until tomorrow anyway.” Michael said, his eyes shot open and met mine. “Unless, you’d like to stay for a couple more days…” “Oh, my ticket is for a round trip…” I said, my eyes meeting his. Then I had to dig in my purse to make sure. “…At least I think it is…” “It is. The only thing I changed on it was the class that you would be seated in.” Michael said, his eyes closing again. “Oh…” I said, sitting in a chair adjacent to the couch, Michael was now seated in. Wayne, probably feeling like an odd third wheel, asked if there was anything that we needed. Michael shook his head and said no. Wayne walked out of the hotel room. I was tired and felt like I would fall into a deep slumber any second. “Come lay with me.” Michael said, as he stretched out across the couch. He held his arms out. The space looked smaller then I could fit in. I looked at Michael doubtfully. “Are you sure both of us will fit?” “Trust me.” Michael said, his eyes scanning over me. “You will.” A small smile curved upon my lips. “Okay.” I agreed, as I got up off the chair and stretched out on the couch. Michael pulled my body against his as we spooned. Michael’s lips nuzzled my ear then went down to my neck when he lightly kissed the sensitive skin. Chills ran down my spine as my heart beat accelerated. I bit my lip to keep from moaning but a small moan escaped. Michael laughed, his hot breath landing upon my neck and going through the fabric of my sweater. “Relax, I’m not going to have my way with you.” Michael said, sounding a bit amused. “Although the idea is tempting, I’m exhausted.” Michael said, his stubble tickling my neck again. I snuggled into him and readjusted the pillow that was now underneath both of our heads. I closed my eyes and slowly drifted off to sleep. The next time I woke up, there was such horrible racket that I couldn’t sleep. Michael slowly roused not long after I did. Somehow through all the racket, we heard pounding at the door. My stomach was twisting into a million knots again. Something was wrong. Michael groggily got up and opened the door and Wayne came storming in. “We gotta go like NOW! It’s a frenzy outside…” “What’s going on?” I asked, my mind not really processing the information. “Look Crystal, help Mike pack, we have about…” Wayne glanced at his watch. “…eight minutes before we are to meet a helicopter on the roof.” “A helicopter? Why?” “About 300 screaming fans broke through the police barricades and in about five minutes they’ll be trying to tear down this damn door!” Wayne said, pointing to the hotel room door. “Oh Jesus!” I said as I began to throw Michael’s stuff into a empty trash receptacle. Michael was still trying to process everything in as he sat on the couch. Once I had made sure that I had picked up everything, I grabbed the bag out of the receptacle. Wayne stopped me from leaving. Michael looked at me as he picked up a few of my clothes from the night before. “What about your stuff?” Michael asked, his eyes meeting mine. “What about it? Let’s go. I don’t want anyone getting hurt.” I said looking at Michael. Michael looked at me not believing me as he put my clothes in the bag along with his. “Michael seriously, I have other clothes…” “We’re not leaving anything behind.” Michael said, kissing my cheek and lacing my fingers with his own. “Now, lets go.” Michael said, as he began to follow Wayne’s lead. He lead us up a ladder that led to the roof. Once on the roof, Wayne ushered us into the helicopter. He didn’t get on however. “I’LL MEET YOU TWO AT THE PICK UP POINT! OKAY?” Michael simply nodded as he squeezed my hand. Wayne closed the door to the helicopter. Michael looked at me. “Are you okay?” Michael asked, whispering into my ear. I nodded. “What a rush!” I said, as I dropped the bag onto the floor. I leaned over a placed a soft kiss upon Michael’s lips. Michael squeezed my hand again. We continued holding hands as I gazed out the window and watched the buildings become smaller and smaller. While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
