Celebs featured: Meg Turney, Jessica Nigri
Meg and Jessica Nigri are the resident cosplayers. A female character in anything even remotely nerdy and they can make a costume of it. Whenever they do, they like to consult Gordon’s opinion. This is for two main reasons. First, he doesn’t preoccupy himself with something being male gaze-y. Sure, he’s not so averse to fun that he can’t appreciate some nice T&A, but since he’s gay, he doesn’t get the urge to act on that. Second, he’s a fan of Japanese culture. He’s not quite an “otaku” - he doesn’t consume Japanese media exclusively, for one thing - but he’s definitely the kind of guy who could give you a list of ways the Akira manga is better than the movie. And because a bunch of nerdy stuff these days comes out of Japan, Gordon’s the guy Meg and Jessica consult for basically half of their costumes.
One day, Jessica Nigri had a costume to show him. He went into her room and waited on the bed with Meg while Jessica was changing in the bathroom. Eventually, Jessica stepped out dressed as 2B from Nier: Automata. She skipped on the sword and the robot, so the costume was mostly pretty easy: white hair dye, stockings, knee-high boots with heels, translucent fabric for the blindfold, etc.
Meg and Gordon gave an enthusiastic golf clap with Gordon clapping more slowly. Jessica proceeded to do some poses for a minute before asking Gordon’s opinion.
“It’s really good,” he said, then pointed to her boots. “But can you run in those?”
That was kind of an inside joke with the three of them. Even Gordon knew shoes with heels weren’t made for running. He liked to say that the most ridiculous thing in Jurassic World wasn’t the bad guy’s plan to weaponize genetically engineered dinosaurs, but the part where Bryce Dallas Howard runs in high heels.
Gordon then asked about the skirt, arguably the most notable thing about 2B. Without wishing to spoil, there’s a feature in the game where you hold down a button, and something happens that makes 2B’s skirt disappear. She has clothes on underneath her skirt, meaning that if someone so chooses while playing Nier: Automata, they can wallow in existential dread and ogle 2B’s butt at the same time. It’s a strange game (in a good way).
Jessica had lined the skirt’s waistband with button clasps for easy removal and reattachment. She removed the skirt, folded it, and put it on the dresser. Jessica then turned around to show how it looked from the back; Meg whistled. Gordon was about to say something, but before he could open his mouth, he received a text from Captain.
Come to the lobby. You need to see something
Gordon took a photo of Jessica, then excused himself and stepped out of the room. He texted Captain the photo he just took with the caption, “Do you think it’s more interesting than what Jessica Nigri’s doing right now?”
Captain responded, “Tell you what. I’ll meet you in front of her room and let you be the judge.”
Gordon chuckled, then replied, “Sure thing.”
He knocked on the door and called in to ask Jessica to keep the costume on for a few minutes.
“Should I put the skirt back on?” she questioned.
“Well, Captain’s coming up here.”
“Guess I’m keeping it off. Thanks, Gordon.”
Gordon leaned against the wall and hummed to himself as he waited for Captain to come up, which he figured would surely not take more than two or three minutes. Sure enough, Captain came through the elevator with his phone in hand.
