Jordan stood on the patio in complete disbelief. He didn't know what to do. He actually turned to rush after her and then stopped himself. She had gone. He had lost her. And all of it was thanks to that fucking bitch. He curled his hands into fists. Why did he have to make that stupid comment about Kristy. All he was worried about was keeping Evelyn happy so she wouldn't bitch at him relentlessly. He never even considered Kristy's feelings. He wanted to pound something. He wanted to.... he didn't know what he wanted anymore. Emotions seemed to engulf him and he felt woosy with the surge. His head was spinning and he could feel the rise of bile in his throat. He fell to his knees with weariness, ran his hands over his tired face and rammed them threw his hair sending it in every direction. He wanted to scream. He wanted to just curl up in a ball right there and die. He slowly got to his feet feeling all the weariness of his years weighing on him. His life was a complete mess. One of the few people that gave him true happiness in his life up until now had just walked out and he wasn't sure if he could ever get her back. He went to the balcony and looked down at the street. Somewhere out there the distance between them was steadily growing and he could feel their bond slipping helplessly threw his fingers. He reached into his sweaty jeans pocket and pulled out the small silver K he always kept with him. It shown in the lights like a talisman. The tears swam into his eyes as he remembered the morning he took it from her. She never knew and she had never asked about it. It was so obvious that she had no clue what she meant to him. How he so desperately needed her. Why hadn't he ever told her. He barked out a small laugh with no real feeling behind it. Maybe for once he just couldn't put it into words. He couldn't believe that she thought that she was just a shadow to him. She actually thought that she was just someone who stood beside him and could be replaced. He groaned in complete frustration. He was different now in every concieveable way because of her and what her love gave him. He pulled out his cell phone and stared at her number on the screen. He wanted to call her, wanted to beg her to come back but he knew in his heart that it wouldn't be fair. She was right, he needed to straighten out his life once and for all. He was done with Evelyn, he had never been more done in his life. Now all he had to do was to insure the bitch got what she deserved and the life he had built wasn‘t left in ruins. He slid the K back into his pocket. The exhaustion was catching up with him. He figured that he would use his long trusted escape, sleep. He turned and went back through the bar. He didn't even register the glances from the people sitting around. He met Bubba on the way to the elevators and his heart lightened.
"did you see...." Jordan began with excitment
"Yeah" Bubba said wiping at his face. He didn't look up and the small flicker of hope died as he heaved a heavy sigh. Still not looking at his face Bubba threw his arm around Jordan and walked into the elevators.
"Bubba.... I ....." Jordan began
"Listen J, it will all work out eventually" Bubba said heavily starring at the polished floor.
Jordan said nothing. The lump in his throat seemed to be preventing him from breathing good much less talking. They walked silently in to the suite of rooms. Every step that Jordan took seemed to feel like his feet were made of lead weights. Bubba said nothing as he went straight into his room. Jordan paused by the sofa to watch him. He had never seen Bubba that dejected before. Walking into his own room he felt the lump get bigger as he saw the empty hangers in the closet. Some were crooked because of her hastiness to leave. He threw himself face down on to the bed and screamed into it. The muffled sound filled his ears with a roar.
There was a small knock at the door and he sat up quickly almost hoping that she would be standing there. Chad looked back at him in concern.
"What the hell happened to you tonight" he said with a frown
"Go away I am not in the fucking mood" Jordan murmered with his face down in the bed.
"Come on man, I have some people you need to meet" Chad said with a gesture to the door.
"You have got to be fucking kidding me" Jordan said jerking his head up
Chad laughed "No I'm not, come on this will cheer you up"
"Chad nothing could cheer me up at the moment so fuck off" Jordan said putting his face back into the bed
Chad walked over and pulled at Jordan's leg "come on man, this is important" Chad almost whined
Jordan gave a noisy frustrated sigh into the bed. He slapped his hands down in anger as he pushed himself up glaring at Chad.
"This better be good" he hissed at Chad has he dragged himself to the door.
Jordan stopped dead in his tracks. He couldn't believe what he saw. He slowly turned to look at Chad who was grinning, so please with himself.
"This is what was so fucking important" Jordan said through clenched teeth, "You have got to be out of your fucking mind" he said as heat radiated off him in violent waves.
"what’s wrong with it?" chad said with a sly grin as he walked over to the sofa.
Jordan watched in fury as Chad picked up a beer from the six pack on the table and sat down in between two random girls. Jordan stood in utter disbelief. What the fuck did Chad think he was playing at. Did he actually think that alcohol and random girls he couldn't give a shit about were the solution to his problem.
"Hey Jordan come over here" the lanky blonde said with a seductive smile and a gesture.
Disgust waved through him as he saw her apparent easiness. His mind flashed back to the night he met Kristy and how he had needed to actually walk over and introduce himself. She had actually ignored him. Ice filled his heart with shocking speed.
"Jordan?" the blonde said again.
"Sorry guys I am so beat, have fun" he said with a slight wave in their direction.
"Come on man" Chad said
"This is more up your alley" Jordan said as he went back in to his room and closed the door with a frustrated snap. He kicked at the bed. Where did that bastard get off thinking that was what he needed. A fucking divorce is what he needed. He fell back on the bed and just stared at the ceiling. What in the hell was he going to do now? He pulled out his cell. He wanted so desperately to call her, needed to her hear the sound of her voice for comfort. He settled for a message. He texted in his phone, please remember that i love you no matter what. He sighed as he got up to empty his pockets. The silver K seemed to scream at him from the dresser. He pulled off his sweaty clothes and left them where they lay as he fell back into bed. He reached out his arm to turn off the light and the last thing he remembered before he fell into an unconcious sleep was hearing giggles from the living room.
