Disclaimer: This is a work of fiction. I do not know Robbie Williams. I do not make any money from the writing of this story. |
Robbie found it hard to keep his eyes on the stage; he had lost count of the number of times he had turned his head to look at Cole. He couldn't get over how gorgeous she was. He recalled Rupert Everett's strange behaviour. He had looked so sad when Cole had left to go and sit.
It took Robbie several, hellos, before Rupert took his eyes off Cole and responded. "Oh hello Rob. How's things?" He said looking back at Cole.
"Pretty good. Are you alright Rupert?" Robbie thought he was acting very strange.
"Look at that slut." Rupert hissed.
"Who's a slut?" Robbie said, looking around with interest.
"Christina Aguilera." Rupert spat out her name. What was his problem with her? Rob saw she was sitting with her arm around Cole, whispering in her ear. "She it totally throwing herself at Cole. As if Cole would be interested in her. That dirty little skank. And look at her outfit. What, did she forget to buy a dress and then decided to wrap dental floss around her body instead? I should go over there and rescue Cole." Rupert started to walk there.
"Rupert the show is starting you had better sit down." Robbie said. Rupert frowned and walked over to his seat.
Now sitting in his chair, he found it almost impossible to pay attention to the Show. As he turned yet again to look at Cole, he noticed several other people were looking at her. What was going on here? He thought about Cole's question as to Rupert's gayness. Had Rupert come on to her? But that didn't make any sense. Rupert Everett was gay, he always had been. And what was up with Christina? She was hanging all over a very noticeably uncomfortable Cole. Justin Timberlake was in front of them and he kept turning around to talk to Cole. Robbie wondered where Vin Diesel was, he had seemed pretty interested in Cole yesterday. He saw Vin sitting several rows back and farther down from himself. But he could see Vin was looking at Cole as well. He looked like he wanted to tear Timberlake's head off. He wondered to himself, is it just me? Or has the whole fucking place gone mad?
"You smell nice. And your hair looks so pretty." Christina giggled into Cole's ear.
“Thanks." Cole mumbled and saw that Justin was once again turning around and smiling at her.
"Cole, are you going to the after party?" Justin whispered. Cole wanted to go straight home, but she knew Brian would skin her alive is she didn't go.
"Yes." She whispered back.
"Cool. I have a surprise for you." His smile was so wide, she could almost count all his teeth.
"Great." She mumbled again. Christina narrowed her eyes at Justin and said
"Shhh." She didn't like Justin talking to Cole or planning surprises for her. "Cole, you should come back to my place after the party. We can hang out and stuff." Christina said while she rubbed her hand along Cole's bared shoulder. And stuff? Cole was pretty sure she didn't want anything to do with Christina's stuff.
"I already have plans. Thanks anyways." Cole lied.
"Plans with who? Justin?" Christina asked. Justin heard his name and turned around again.
"Did you guys call me?"
"No." They both said at the same time. Justin pouted as he turned back around. What is wrong with me lately, he thought to himself. Up until yesterday everything was fine, I had a girlfriend who I was madly in love with, what is her name again? Now all I can think about is Cole. He was so engrossed in his thoughts that he didn't feel the tapping on his arm.
"Mr. Timberlake, its almost time for your performance." Justin got up and waved to Cole as he left.
'Well, Cole thought, he's gone. Now if I could figure out a way to get rid of Christina.' Cole was trying to figure out a reason to give to Brian to go backstage and get away from Christina when Justin came on and began to sing. She picked up the mic,
"Brian. Are you there?"
"Yeah I'm here. How's the show look?" He asked.
"It looks great. Can I come backstage now?" She asked.
"Not yet. The show is almost over. Just stay there." He told her.
"Fine but can I change seats?" She asked. She was sick of Christina playing with her hair and touching her bare skin.
"And where would you sit? All the seats are assigned. Just stay where you are." Brian ordered her.
"Damn it." She whispered. Before Justin left the stage, Christina was called to go and get ready for her part. Cole knew Christina was presenting Best New Artist. 'At least I have a few minutes of peace.' Cole thought relaxing in her seat. Leaning back she closed her eyes, then she felt it. Someone was staring at her. She opened her eyes and looked around. Justin was still backstage it wasn't him, Vin was actually facing forward. Rupert wasn't anywhere she could see, so she figured he must have been backstage. So who was staring? She glanced over at Robbie, he was looking at the stage, she hadn't thought it was him, but a girl could wish. So who was staring? She took another look and met dark brown ones. Holy shit its Keanu Reeves. He smiled a slow sexy smile and nodded. She couldn't help herself, she smiled back. He raised one eyebrow and turned his attention back to the stage.
Christina's name was announced. She sauntered over to the podium and before she began to read she waved at Cole. Cole groaned and sank into her seat wishing she could disappear. Would this night ever be over? When Christina returned she immediately began to flirt with Cole again. Cole felt like slapping her hand away, but she didn't, she was nice to Christina. It wasn't Christina's fault that she was under a spell. She didn't deserve Cole's anger. So Cole just smiled and pushed Christina's hand away when it got to close to places it shouldn't be touching. And then she heard Robbie's name being announced. He was closing the show with his medley of greatest hits. He was incredible. She couldn't take her eyes off of him. When the crowd jumped to its feet to dance she danced too. And when he finished off his medley with Angels, the crowd was roaring. Cole left immediately for the backstage to talk to Brian. She wanted to hurry up and get to the party so she could get home. Then she was going to avoid celebrities for the rest of her life.
"You sure are popular tonight. Is that why you are hiding behind this plant?" Robbie's voice said from the other side of the plant.
"I'm not hiding." Cole said. "I was trying to fix my pantyhose." She lied.
"You aren't wearing panty hose." He said looking down at her legs.
"Oh yeah." She said blushing.
He noticed that the blush was all over her face and her chest. How far down did that blush go he wondered?
"I just needed to get away from.." She didn't finish her sentence.
"From who?" He asked.
"No one, in particular. I need to use the ladies room. I'll see you later" She said as she slipped past him and headed for the ladies room.
He watched her walk away, was she avoiding him too? He had watched her since she had arrived at the party. It seemed that half of the men and several of the women had at some point spoken to her and several seemed to flirt with her. Sure she was beautiful, but what was it about her that had everyone acting like she was a goddess? Cole never made it to the ladies, she had been side tracked by Justin.
"Cole. I missed you. Did you miss me?" He asked.
"Uh, sure." She said half-heartedly.
"Really. I have that surprise for you. Here." He reached into his pocket and pulled out a tiny stuffed giraffe. "Remember you told me giraffes were your favourite animal?" He was still holding the toy.
"I did? Oh yeah. Thanks." She grabbed it and walked away. She went into a small office that was unoccupied. "Jesus, what a night. Is it too early to leave yet?" She asked herself.
"Its way too early to leave." Robbie said from the door. "Cute giraffe." He said coming in and shutting the door behind him.
"What are you doing in here?" She asked him.
"What are you doing? You told me you were going to the ladies. You lied to me." He said stepping towards her.
"I didn't lie." She whispered as he stepped even closer. There were only a few steps separating them, her back was against the wall. She could smell his aftershave.
"You know, you should ditch those weird clothes and the wigs. You look beautiful like this." He touched one of the messy curls. She could feel the heat from his hand, she fought the urge run away. He stepped closer. Running his hand down the side of her face and resting it on her bare shoulder.
"I like those weird clothes." She whispered just before his lips touched hers. His hand slid around to the back of her neck, holding her in place. Cole sighed and gave into the kiss. Opening her lips and deepening the kiss. He pressed his body into hers and she clutched his shirt in her hands. God this man is so sexy, I could shag him right here. She thought to herself. Then her mind had to go and ruin things. Its not real Cole. It’s the spell. Why would a man like him want you? If you shag him, you would be taking advantage of him.
"Stop." Cole said pushing against his chest.
"Why? Nicole, I don't want to stop. Can you say you don’t want this?" He was kissing her neck and bare shoulder.
Oh God how she wanted this. She felt tears welling in her eyes. "No. It’s not real. Its the spell." She shoved him away. Running out the door.
"Cole can I talk to you?" Justin said running beside her.
"No." She kept going. She saw Christina blocking her way, with a sexy smile. "Fuck off." Cole said as she passed her.
In the office Robbie was perplexed. What did she mean it wasn't real? That it was a spell? All he knew was that he had to see her again.
