(Ok I'm gonna skip a little bit, ok?) Chapter 4 I've been keeping track of how long we've been on this island by writing in my journal. I've been writing down pretty much everything. Why you never know that people might be interested in it. We've been here already about three weeks, The cut on my head healed and even though I have a scar from the plane crash, it’s going to be a reminder of it. I'm just lucky to be alive and I think Christian feels the same way. Christian and I mastered a few skills. I was working on the house, making certain adjustments and adding things. It kept me busy and from thinking about home too much. Christian of course used the time to practice his hunting and fishing skills. He managed to find us a lot of fruit and besides fish we started eating crab, lobsters and even peacocks.
He seems to enjoy practicing his new skills, which came in handy when he had gotten a peacock. I also managed to stop hiding behind my glasses and only wore them when I needed to weave or read, because they were in the way when I went swimming. I even went snorkeling with Christian and we found some interesting shells and coral. I ended up making a shell necklace for myself and he took the peacock feathers and made me a fan to use to cool myself off when I needed to. I had a lot of ideas to make us at least comfortable and that was important I guess. I even came up with bath wash and shampoo, which wouldn't harm the water or the things that lived there. I loved the waterfall and only washed my hair three times a week, since it only was chin length right now. Clothing was another thing we had to take care of. I washed and hung them up. We also were careful about a lot of things, especially in the jungle, we never explored it alone and we were careful about not getting lost. We didn't know what lived on the other side and we didn't want to take the chance of finding out right now. I tried to stay out of the sun at a certain time, but it was hard, because we had a lot to do. I ended up getting tan as of course Christian got very dark and his hair was growing out, it even had gotten lighter from the sun and he had stubble, he had his black bag with him so he was able to shave if he wanted. He was also trying to adjust. I wanted to open up to Christian and tell him things, but I wasn't sure if I should, so I didn't. We both didn't at first. I finally told him something I was keeping to myself. "Christian I just wanted to say that I'm glad I met you." Christian smiles. "Well I'm glad I met you too, I mean I'm not that great with the whole celebrity thing." I smile. "I already knew that, besides we might get a little annoyed that you keep your private life private, but we understand why, I mean I've been a fan of yours since you were in Empire Of The Sun and it wasn't until years later when you did Newsies that I got to know more about you." I'm even a balehead if you think about it, even though the name was invented years later in your career." Christian smiles. "I've waited all these years to finally meet you and I even won a contest to meet you and even get a small role in your movie." Christian nods, "Yeah, some contest, now you're stuck here with me." I smile, "Well I was asked if there was any actor I'd like to get stuck on a deserted island with and my answer was Jerry O'Connell or you." I lean in to whisper. "I guess you won huh?" Christian chuckled. "Yeah I guess so." I also tell him, "I personally don't want to know much about your private life, I'd rather go see you in a movie and watch you act, because I'd rather see you as the character you become and you are very convincing as the character are in the movies." Christian smiles widely. Later that night as we eat our last meal for the day I wonder about a few things. I wondered if we were ever going to be rescued and what was happening back home since we probably should have shown up already. I'm very quiet and I'm usually very talkative. Christian must have noticed. "What are you thinking about?" I sigh, "Well I'm just wondering if we're ever going to be found, I mean we should have arrived already where we were suppose to be right?" Christian nods. "Yeah." I finish my meal and brush my teeth. I had found a mosquito net and Christian made poles so we could use the ties on the mosquito net to cover our sleeping area to keep the mosquitoes from biting us. We had to sleep very close together and have woken up with Christian's arms around me and I never said anything about it. We were just glad to have the mosquito net for nighttime. Christian had gotten quite good at hunting and catching things. We both get the fruit and I've been working on little inventions to help in making it more comfortable to live on the island but we don't complain, since a nice breeze always makes it seem less hot. Christian just shakes his head and smiles, he teases me a little bit by mentioning on what a big movie buff I am and how it has helped us everyday. I just roll my eyes and we end up laughing a lot. That night as I lay on the sleeping mat, the mosquito net fastened around our sleeping area. I was lying on my back looking at the ceiling of the house. I was thinking about my family and I wonder if they know I’m already missing them. We've been on the island for about three weeks and I wondered if anybody was already looking for us. I mean I miss my family, the computer and lots of other things I took for granted I guess. I wondered about other things, but I kept those thoughts to myself. I would be too embarrassed if Christian found out about it. I finally closed my eyes and listened to Christian's breathing. I drift off to sleep. While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
