Surprise Visit
Ch 4
At closing, we all walked outside. Johnny made sure that everyone made it home in one piece. He got cabs for everyone. He was also given many kisses and hugs. Orlando and I stayed towards the back holding each other in the cold. I was glad that we stopped in the closet. I did want him but my feelings ran too deep. I cuddled into his arm which made me feel safe and secure. “Thanks guys…we had fun. Kitty Kat, how are you getting home?” I looked at Orlando and smiled. He replied. “I will make sure she gets home. Have a great weekend everyone.” The cabs drove away with my friends grinning ear to ear.
Orlando hugged me closer to his chest. Johnny got into a cab so he could return to the hotel. “Well my sweets… time for the old man to go to sleep. Have fun! Remember, OB, plane at 9a.” I grimaced at that thought of him leaving tomorrow. Orlando and I waved at the cab pulling away. “Are you cold, love?” I rubbed my arms in response. “Here, take my jacket.” Orlando put the jacket over my shoulders. I took a deep breath. It was a mixture of smells … alcohol, cigarettes, and him. I looked at his loving eyes. “Where to, Orli?” I felt his body tense a little at the question when I did not answer immediately. “I better get you home, love.” I sighed as my heart broke in a million pieces. Before I could say anything in response the cab pulled up to the curb. Orlando opened the door and helped me in. He climbed in after me and put his strong arm around me. I knew I had him for about fifteen more minutes and then he would be gone. I laid my head back on his shoulder and closed my eyes. I was determined to make the fifteen minutes last. The alcohol must have taken over because I felt my body fall deep asleep in a matter of minutes.
I did feel the cab jolt to a stop. I started to wake as I felt a pair of strong hands surrounding my body. I cuddled in closer to Orlando who carried me carefully and quietly. I then felt the softness of a bed. I tried to open my eyes but the Tequila was too powerful to overcome. I felt Orlando take my shoes off and then crawl into bed with me. The huge comforter was pulled over us. Orlando’s arms hugged me closer to his chest. He kissed my ear lightly and whispered something intelligible. I then heard the Tequila take over his body also.
The sun was so bright that it burned my eyes. I stretched my tired body under the warm comforter. After rubbing my eyes, I remembered last night Orlando was with me. I knew we went to sleep together but now the bed was cold. I looked around the room to find that I was in a hotel room, his probably. The problem was that he wasn’t to be found. I listened for any sound in the room. Nothing. I started to get up out of the large comfortable bed. On the pillow next to me was a note and a rose. I picked up and smelled the white rose. It was so perfect. I picked up the note. When I opened it I saw it was from Orlando. I could not help the smile that invaded my face.
“Sorry for not taking you home. You looked so peaceful and I could not stop myself from cuddling with you all night. I did not want to wake you this morning, so make yourself at home. You said last night that ‘we only have one night.’ I hope that is not true. I hope to spend more time getting know you IN PERSON. See you very soon, love.” I felt my heart beat harder than ever. Did we have a future? I wasn’t sure but it would be fun finding out. I then heard a knock on the door. I grabbed a blanket and wrapped around my cold body. I opened the door to a bellhop standing there. “I was told to deliver this to you this morning, Miss.” The young man handed me a white envelope. I thanked him and closed the door. I then opened the envelope. Inside was another note from Orlando, “Very soon!” I smiled and opened the remaining envelope. Inside was a plane ticket to the Caribbean.
