Been a bit late in updating this because I've been dying from earache, and I was quite enjoying reading all the other stories on here...so anyway I got round to editing and re editing and got here in the end.

When we arrived back at my front door there was a short black figure squatting on the front porch.
“Tam!” I ran up to hug her, mostly because I knew she hated it.
“How long you been here?”
“Not long, I got you a present..” She waved a flat box wrapped in black paper in front of my face.
“Aw thanks, and look you even chose goth wrapping paper!”
“Of course!” She smiled, “ Now are you gonna let us in and tell me what’s going on..” I held open the door and let them both make themselves at home.
I ripped off the paper to reveal a plain cardboard box. It smelt like one of those insence sticks that you can’t get out of your clothes. It took me a while but after I had torn away all the sellotape and flipped open the lid I was taken back for a while.
“Tam..it’s a...”
“A Ouija board.” She answered confidently. “Go on take it out, I’ll show you how it works.”
“I don’t know..” I took out the board which had a circle of letters and a ‘yes’ and ‘no’ written in italics in the middle.
“Aren’t they dangerous?” Jaimee chipped in, arriving beside us with another bottle of wine that she had stolen from the party.
Tam rolled her eyes, “Only if you have bad intent. ..and we don’t have bad intent so it’s perfectly safe. “
“Where the hell did you get this from? “ I laid out the board and wiped the layer of dust from the top.
“A high priest...he made it whilst in trance with the higher manifestations..”
“What priest?, you don’t know any priests.”
“Well, he has a shop on ebay and...”
I exploded into laughter and fell back on the floor.
“Ebay, yeah Tam thats just soooo authentic.”
“Don’t mock it Adalie, this one’s especially for you. “
I glanced down and noticed that in the bottom corner my own name was etched in what I would call, creepy horror movie writing. I looked at Tam and then to Jaimee who was by now so drunk that her top was hanging halfway off her shoulders.
“Ok, ok . Do your voodoo shit. What do we have to do with it?”. Tam sat upright looking very serious and straightened the board, placing a wooden triangle shaped thing onto the middle.
“Right we need candles and the lights dimmed.”
Ten minutes and much falling over later, we were all sat around the table. Three candles burned around the board and the room lay in darkness. Tam sat with her eyes closed, apparently ‘tuning in’.
“So what do we do with this?” I asked spinning the triangle thing on a finger.
“Don’t do that...” Tam snatched the triangle and placed it carefully on the board over the ‘yes’. “Right, Adalie put your hand on here.”
“Ok, so I put my hand on the triangle thingy and..”
“Planchette.” Tam corrected
“Whatever..ok so what do I say?”
“ Ask if there’s anyone there.”
“I there anyone there...?” I asked in a spooky voice. Jaimee practically wet herself laughing and fell back onto the floor.
“Be serious about this.”
“Ok..Is there anybody there?” I made it sound a bit more convincing and remained still waiting for something to happen. I was just about to give up and get another drink when I felt the wood move ever so slightly under my fingers. It started buzzing ever so gently as if it was vibrating, almost like a tuning fork. I glanced up to Tam who was appeared to know what was going on.
“Told you it would work..”
“But it’s not...” suddenly the planchette moved with an almost magnetic force until it settled over the ‘yes’ .
“Shit!” Jaimee scrabbled up next to me, watching closely to see what it would do next. “Are you moving that?”
“No, I’m not...it’s weird...Tam speak to it...” I couldn’t move my hands, they felt glued to the wood even though I was starting to feel freaked out which was unusual for me. The air seemed to chill a few degrees, unless that was my imagination again.
“Are you female?” Tam asked, my hands were directed over to the ‘NO’. The wood was gliding now, as if it was hovering above the actual board.
“Woah it’s a guy!” Jaimee squeaked, “Are you hot?”
“Jaimee..that was by far the gayest question you could ever ask. As if a ghost is gonna know if it’s hot.”
“I still wanna know, it’s a fair question!” She shrugged and stared at the board, waiting for something to happen. Her curiosity was rewarded a few moments later with a very definite ‘No’.
“Damnit!”
Over the next half an hour we all relaxed more, asking plenty of bizarre questions and only really getting yes and no answers. I was starting to wish that it had only been me moving it myself because I honestly hadn’t a clue how this was happening. Tam, who in the past had apparently been quite an expert in the art of Ouija, had been trying to get who ever it was to spell out some words.
“We need a name, or a place?” She frowned. “Do you want me to take over?”
I nodded, thinking that she had been talking to me, but the board had other ideas. The planchette whizzed over to a very definite ‘No’.
“Shit..”
“He likes you Adalie!”
“I don’t want him to like me, my arms starting to ache...um look whoever you are, I think Tam should take over now because my...” I hadn’t time to go any further as my hands were pushed one way and the other, alternating from the yes to the no and then spinning around the letters in no particular order. Jaimee shrieked and ran off to the corner and I felt Tam’s hands on my arms helping me to keep the planchette on the board.
“What the fuck is going on...Tam do something!”
“I don’t know, this has never happened before.” She stuttered, gripping my arms as it continued to speed up.
“I think we might have a strong one here.”
“Tell it to go...just get rid of it!” I shouted, starting to panic. This had started off as a game and now it was getting all too weird. By the time the last word had left my lips I felt a huge burst of energy flash from the my hands and the planchette flew out from my fingers, and smashing into the wall. Holding up my hands I only had a few seconds to see the red marks that had burnt into my palms before the candles were suddenly and definitely blown out. Jaimee gave out a shriek from the kitchen and as I looked up, there was a loud bang as the electrics blew from the hallway.
“Are you ok Ade?” I heard Tam whispering from next to me.
“Why are you whispering?”
“I don’t know, I was checking that you weren’t possessed or anything.”
“Possessed, you mean there was a chance that any of us could get possessed and you never thought it was a good idea to mention this!”
“It’s never happened to me so far!”
“Yeah well lucky for you it hasn’t happened this time!” I snapped, feeling my way through the darkness and grabbing a torch from the table. I shoved it in Tam’s direction.
“Hold this..”
“Why?”
“Because I have to change this damn fuse wire otherwise we stay in darkness till the morning.”

Things calmed down after that. Jaimee was so freaked out that she called a cab even though she only lived at the end of the street. Just in case some evil spirit jumped out on her from behind a hedge, I could see her point but I wasn’t going to admit it. Tam spent an hour checking the room with her dowsing rods which looked pretty pointless to me, and then left armed with the Ouija board because, as I tried to explain. It was a nice thought but there was no way I was having that thing in my house after all that. I got to bed around three a.m which wasn’t unusual for me.
I threw on an old tshirt and tried to get some sleep, hoping that my insomnia wasn’t going to piss me off in degrees tonight. I wondered if the party was still going on at my mother’s house, I wondered if they even cared that I had walked out. In the end what did it matter, I would wake up the same person and there was no way that things were going to be any different.Sleep overcame me like a warm haze, taking me away from my destructive mind for a few hours.
The first thing I felt was the sense of waking, ever so slowly and uncontrolled. The air felt thick and the smell of damp soil filled the room. The sensation of someone on the bed above me, over me, crushing me with their weight, paralysing me with fear and the terror of reality. My mouth unable to move and even if I could, I would not have been able to scream. Right now breathing was enough of a problem. I tried to push up against it but my arms wouldn’t move. Cold hands around my throat, squeezing with a strength far beyond my own. I managed to move my arm as if in slow motion. It was almost like my whole body was numb and useless. I found myself half trying to push the person off of me and half trying to prise those cold lifeless hands from my throat.
This was it, I could see myself dying here, alone, all the things that I wanted to achieve left to rot. The hands loosened slightly, enough to let me gasp in a deep breath and scream.
“Get the fuck off!” Before pushing it back and sitting up panting, my own hands holding onto my throat and trying to get my breath back. My eyes and mind telling me to go back to sleep but I could tell that as I was pulled back into unconsciousness then I would lose that small bit of control that I had. I shut my eyes, it’s not real, it’s not real...and flicked on the bedside light. Gulping down a glass of water I could still feel the pressure, still there almost, as i swallowed. I dropped the glass completely a moment later when I noticed that there was someone else in the room with me.
