Chapter 4
She was running down a darkened hallway. Slowly she turned her head as she ran onward knowing he was behind her. Panting she turned forward.
"You can run but you can't hide my love," his voice cut through the air in a haunting tone. She continued running, her breath was starting to leave her. She couldn't hear him but she knew he was around somewhere. "You can't escape me," he voice taunted the air surrounding her. Suddenly she stopped, slamming into his muscular body. She looked up at him slowly, searching for her answers.
"Why?" she asked as he brought a hand to her neck cupping it. She closed her eyes, relishing in his touch. "Why are you tormenting me?" He crooked his neck to the side and grinned.
"Don't you see?" he asked. "You are destined to be mine," he said in his deep and heavy Finnish accent.
"What if I don't want to be?" she asked.
"Then you'll die trying to escape," he said as she pulled away from his embrace. He knew she would react this way so he moved in closer, wrapping his arms around her slender waist. "Don't fight it my love. This is your destiny and you can't escape the feelings I have for you," he said softly nuzzling her neck, showing her affection but also showing that she was his possession.
"But that doesn't explain why you choose me," she said pulling herself away from him.
"You don't remember do you?" he asked brushing a hand on her cheek. She gave him a quizzical look and he smiled warmly. "Soon," he whispered. "Everything you lost will come back to you…" his voice trailed as he faded in mist.
She sat up in her bed panting rapidly. Clutching a hand to her chest she continued breathing heavily. His words rang through her mind as she was desperate to know what she didn't remember.
Shaking her head she told herself it was just a stupid dream. Removing the covers from her body she swung her legs around and stepped out of the warmth of her bed. Walking over to her window she noticed it was slightly open. I don't remember opening my window, she thought as she closed it. She stopped short as she noticed the single black rose sitting on the ceil. Picking it up she looked out the window in both directions. Seeing nothing unusual she sighed and went over to her closet to find something to wear.
She didn't notice a black feather lying on the foot of her bed.

"What the…" an innocent man screamed out as a darkened figure grabbed the poor man's neck, his eyes glowing red. Sensing someone approaching them he growled, letting go of the defenseless man quickly disappearing into the night.
Walking down the dock he wondered why she didn't remember. The dreams he had been sending her at night was suppose to awaken her memory but seemed as though she was blocking him out.
"Why must you always be here when I want to be alone?" he heard her voice sound from behind him. He smiled.
"What are you doing up this late my lady?" he asked as she walked up to his side. Gently touching his shoulder, she looked out into the ocean.
"Why do I keep dreaming of you?" she asked.
"You dream of me?" he asked, trying to play dumb. He turned to face her. "What do you dream of?"
"Nothing…just dreams," she replied.
"Good?" he asked. She shrugged.
"Scary," she responded flatly. She turned her head and looked back out into the ocean.
"I won't press you anymore," he said and draped his arms over the railing. They stood in silence just staring out beyond the horizon until she broke the silence.
"Why am I dreaming of you?" she demanded angrily. She began pacing the length of the dock.
"Calm down," he said and grabbed her arm. She looked at his hand on her wrist and looked up at him. Looking into his eyes she began to find her answers.
~Flashback~
She giggled as her friends dragged her into the strip club. Stepping into the darkened club she was nearly blinded by the strobe lights and deafened by the loud music. Girls were dancing on the stage in from of them and some were walking around in next to nothing acting as waitresses.
Passing a couple of men sitting at a round table near theirs, she laughed herself into oblivion as she sat down in a plush seat at their table. A friend handed her another drink and began toasting her.
"To a wonderful friend, a beautiful soul, and to a girl who's going to make a remarkable wife tomorrow," her friend, Melanie said raising her glass and clicking it with everyone at the table. The girls all hollered loudly. Taking a sip of her drink she caught sight of a young man sitting with his friends at the table next to theirs. He stood out like a sore thumb to her, and she saw him casually glance in her direction then quickly turn his head back to the young woman dancing in front of him. This continued a few more times and finally getting courage she got up.
"Excuse me. I'll be right back guys," she said and walked away from her table, purposely walking up towards his. Weaving through the crowds of people she passed his table, eyeing her mystery man in the process.
Walking towards the bathroom she stopped and waited hoping this guy would follow her. Her heart leapt in her throat when she saw him coming towards her.
"You're getting married?" he asked as he came up beside her. She nodded.
"Yes," she replied softly.
"You love him right?" he asked as she frowned. "You're not sure are you?" She looked down to the floor. Putting a finger under her chin he lifted her face to meet his. "Destiny is a strange thing. You can't fight it no matter how hard you try," he said. "Come with me," he beckoned.
She followed – all the way to his home.
~End Flashback~
"It's you," Ella said and backed away from him. He stepped forward. "Don't," she said and backed away from him. He reached out to her. "I said DON'T!" she screamed. "My life ended because of you," she said finally remembering every detail about that night.
"It was your destiny my love."
"Stop saying that! Lauri…I'm in control of my destiny not you," she said shrilly. He grinned evilly.
"You've been denying yourself for so long my love," Lauri taunted. "You are the one that my soul craves, the one I'm meant to become one with," he said. "Your touch, your kiss, your embrace – it is my essence. You have been my destiny as I have been yours." She began running from him. "You'll never escape me!" he screamed after her as she left the dock leaving him standing there alone; his cloak flowing in the breeze.
Pulling out his smokes he smiled to himself. She remembered now and he knew she felt their connection, their bond that night. He just needed to make her realize how much they meant to each other now.
