The next afternoon the group found themselves at a local Burger King, having craved French fries. Alexis smiled as she wolfed her food down and settled herself next to Tre inside Burger King. She was done before everyone else and went up for another order. They had a couple hours to kill until they had to be back for sound check.
She went up to the counter and ordered, getting her food almost instantly. She smiled and stopped as she turned around, finding a sight that no one wanted to see.
Jake and the girl he had been with were sitting in a booth a couple away from Alexis and the others, practically having sex with clothes on. He was all over her and she all over him. Alexis felt her eyes well up as she sauntered back to her booth. ‘How could he do this to me?’ She thought, completely forgetting they were no longer together. She felt her sadness evaporate with the high temperature of her rage. She felt as though she had been taken from a bucket of ice water and was thrown into the depths of hell.
“Guys, check out the whore that Jake is with. She looked all cracked out.” She muttered darkly to the other three. They turned around and Billie and Mike snickered, agreeing. Tre stayed silent. He knew that look all to well. ‘Look at that guy she’s with. He looks to be about fifty.’ He remembered saying after his divorce and seeing his ex-wife with her new pimp.
“Totally. Was he experienced? Cause he don’t look like it!” Billie said rather loudly.
“Not at all! My mom can kiss better than him!” She insulted. ‘I feel better…’ She sighed mentally and looked over to Tre. He looked down. “What’s wrong, crazy-face?”
“Nothing… just thinking.” He said. Billie dropped his fry that he was about to devour and Mike stopped sucking on his straw as he looked up at Tre. His straw was still in his mouth when he spoke.
“You think?” He asked, bewildered.
“Very funny, Pritchard.” Tre said darkly and got up, storming out of the restaurant. Alexis followed after him and caught him in the parking lot.
“Hey! Stop! Tre!” She said, grabbing his shoulder. He spun on his heel, giving her a death glare.
“How can you get jealous over him and his new girlfriend? He CHEATED on you!” He said, practically screaming.
Alexis had never known this man to have anger issues. Of all the things Billie and Mike had attested, they had sworn up and down that Tre was an easy going guy, not quick to anger. This side of him was nothing short of mad. Though she knew why he was mad, only one questioned from her to him remained.
“Why do you care?” She asked, stepping forward. Her voice was drippy and held the sound that one gets when they had a cold. The result being a stuffy nose.
Tre turned around slowly, a sorry look on his face at her tone. “I don’t know.”
She couldn’t help it if seeing her ex with his new girl made her jealous. It was like taking a baby’s toy. If he didn’t want it before, he would want it once you grabbed it. He only wanted what he couldn’t have. Tre turned back around and walked over to the car and leaned on it. Alexis followed, but stood. She hoped he wouldn’t still be mad at her after this. They stayed in silence.
Billie and Mike came out a few minutes later, a down look on their faces. They all got in the car and drove to the venue and not a sound was made until they got to sound check. Alexis sat in the front row watching Tre as he kept up the façade on stage, even though there were no crowds. Once they were done, however, he quit smiling.
The whole time Alexis watched him, the more she figured things out about Jake. She didn’t love him. It was just a feeling of greed. He didn’t love her. It was just a feeling of lust, no matter how much he wanted to deny that. She had zoned out so bad she didn’t notice that The Thrashers had taken their spots and the blonde girl, presumably Tara, came over to sit next to her.
“Hey, I‘m Tara Foley. Alexis, right?” She asked innocently. Alexis nodded, smiling slightly. “I’m sorry. I didn’t know he had had a girlfriend.”
“It’s okay. You actually did me a favor. Now if you will excuse me, I have to go find Tre…” She said politely. It really wasn’t Tara’s fault. She nodded and Alexis ran off to find the others. She came to the group room and heard Mike’s voice, so decided to listen in.
“She’s so confused, don’t get mad at her… She just needs to figure some things out.” He said. She smiled, knowing they were talking about her. “I mean, remember when you heard Claudia was divorcing you, and you saw her with that David guy? You went ballistic. Imagine how she must feel, Tre.”
“Yeah, dude. We’ve known her, what? Like 3 days. That’s it. Do you really want to get all crazy with this girl? Besides, she‘s a minor.” Billie asked. There was a silence, and Alexis decided on this to be the best time to come in.
Luckily she was a good actress, and put on a tired face. “Hey guys.” She yawned, stretching. “I just met Tara.”
“Oh, is she nice?” Asked Mike. She nodded.
“Very. She apologized and everything. I overreacted as well. I mean, it’s only a greed thing I have going on there.” She said, they all nodded. She sat next to Tre and stifled another yawn.
“Don’t get tired now! You’ll miss our show!” It was like night and day, Tre was. He had suddenly piped up after being so melancholy for the most part of the day. She giggled and leaned into his shoulder.
“Oh shit!” Billie said suddenly, glancing at his watch. “I have to call Adrienne.” He stood up and ran out of the room. Mike looked around nervously.
“I have to go… er… do something.” He said, much like a cartoon. He left quickly and Alexis looked over to Tre.
“So…” He said awkwardly. She giggled and leaned in, pressing her lips to his. He was shocked to say the least, and then the door opened.
“Oh my God! I’m so sorry!” Jake. He looked as though he had gotten something to cry about.

Pshuu! That was long, guys! *wipes forehead* I love putting the lyrics in like that.. it's fun. And having American Idiot being a concept album, it's easy to put a different story to it, in a different song order. You like it? Do you not like it? Please REVIEW!!
