A/N: I actually managed to get this chapter out sooner then expected...I though it was going to take me at least another couple of days.
Big, big thanks to:
xDizzyx - Thanks bunches and bunches for reviewing :D. I tried to flesh all the character out more like you suggested...but i don't really think I did that great of a job at it...but I will try again next chapter! :)
broken dolls - Thanks for your review. I'm actually contemplating about having a scene where Kim smack Kyo :P. I actually imagine Kim being about 5'0" or 5'1", because I want to make her about two inches shorter then Kyo and most of my sources say Kyo is about 5'2" or 5'3". But I suppose that could be wrong...I did try to make the chappies longer :D
Anyone who is taking the time to read this.
Chapter 4:
“Ohhhh. Oh, man…” I whimpered, slowly and carefully lying down on the hotel bed with Kaoru’s help. “It’s gonna be hurting like hell tomorrow.”
“Still think that beer drinking contest with Die was a good idea?” my older step-brother asked me dryly.
“No. You told me so,” I groaned, slowly rolling onto my side.
Kaoru chuckled at what I had just said (more like moaned).
“I really couldn’t have said that any better.”
I lightly growled and proceeded to bury my face into the somewhat stiff pillow that the hotel provided for its guests.
After the concert, Shinya had quickly dropped his dog off at his hotel room, and we had all gone to a club.
Me and Die had been drinking beer and somehow managed to end up in a contest of who could drink the most beer.
Kyo had placed his bet on Die (shocker) and Toshiya had placed his bet on me. Kaoru and Shinya had decided to stay out of it. Although, Kaoru did comment that he didn’t think that it was such a great idea and that we were both probably going to be in tons of pain tomorrow.
We still had our drinking contest anyway.
In the end, neither of us won. We both just ended up painfully drunk (literally).
I really hate it when Kaoru’s right (which happens more often then it should), but at least he’s nice enough to hold my hair back when I puke. I have to give him some points for that one.
I closed my eyes and fell into a much less painful state.
Then was dragged back into the old painful one, courtesy of a certain purple-haired man.
When he first tried shaking me, I wrinkled my nose, buried my face further into the pillow, and took a pathetically sluggish swipe at his hand.
My older step-brother in turn, ripped the blankets off of me, causing me to curl into a tiny ball.
Seeing that I still wasn’t planning on moving anytime soon, Kaoru decided that pouring glass of water (really, really cold water) on my head would get me moving…needless to say it worked.
It also got plenty of swear words, rather inappropriate name calling, and dirty looks directed at him.
I climbed off the bed and slowly hobbled towards the bathroom, carelessly grabbing some clothes on the way.
I had the mother of all hangovers; pounding head, fuzzy tongue, the works.
I lethargically undressed, climbed into the shower, and turned the water on as hot as I could stand it.
Zombie like, I pulled on the clothes I had randomly grabbed on my trek to the bathroom.
After pulling on the ancient jeans that had both knees ripped out and the red top, I left the bathroom.
I didn’t bother with mascara or anything.
Either way, I already knew I was going to look like hell.
Once again, I pulled my hair back. I didn’t even want to begin to imagine how it must have looked at the moment.
I glanced at my read shirt again and eccentrically thought of how it matched Die’s hair…I tend to have bizarre thoughts during hangovers.
Kaoru handed me a few bags to carry (light ones…thank God).
As we congregated into the hallway I noticed that Die wasn’t looking too great (but as far as I was able to tell, he looked better then me).
While climbing up the steps on the bus, I had one of my typical clumsy moments and tripped.
Toshiya, deciding to be helpful, pulled me (dragged me) up the steps.
I dropped into the first seat that came into my vision.
Lucky me (I swear I must have the worst luck ever…or someone may be out to get me), that particular seat happened to be next to Kyo.
Life really wasn’t fair.
If anyone had any worries about us sitting next to each other, they didn’t share their concern.
Kyo took one look at me and said “You look like shit.”
If I wasn’t so hung over at the moment, I may have created something of a scene. Instead, I settled for dryly pointing out “Most people don’t look too glamorous during hangovers.”
The blonde snorted at that.
Suddenly Kaoru appeared with a steamy foam cup of tea.
“Chamomile,” he said, handing it to me. “You’re going to need it.”
I had no idea where he got it, but at the current moment, I really didn’t give a damn. As usual, he was right; I was going to need it.
I would have preferred coffee, but beggars really can’t be choosers. Besides, caffeine sometimes did strange things to me (it doesn’t happen very often…I don’t have that many issues…).
I noticed that Kaoru had also given some tea to Die.
I took a sip of it and almost immediately spit it back out. It was ridiculously hot.
Kyo snickered at my antics. I simply shot him a dirty look. The pounding in my head overwhelmed my desire for a snappy comeback.
Grimacing, I touched a free hand to one of my temples. Kyo glanced at me and began to dig through a bag that had been sitting by his feet.
I tried the tea again; it was drinkable now.
Kyo nudged my arm. He was holding two white pills in his hand.
“Tylenol. I always keep some with me. My body usually takes more abuse then it can handle during shows,” he explained to me.
“Thanks,” I said, grabbing the pills from his hand. I popped them in my mouth, took a sip of tea, and swallowed them.
Within a half-hour, my head didn’t feel like someone had cracked it with a hammer, and I was in much less pain.
“Better?” Kyo asked.
“Much.” I replied.
I was somewhat curious; Kyo was never this…nice (for lack of a better word) to me.
Maybe hell had just frozen over…
Oh well, I didn’t really feel like pondering that theory for very long.
Feeling tired again, I decided I may as well take a nap.
Kyo was already long gone in la la land…he always did love sleeping.
I leaned back in the seat, closed my eyes, and was out like a light.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
I woke up about an hour later to find my head resting on Kyo’s shoulder.
I groggily blinked a couple of times before I realized exactly what I was doing.
When I did, my eyes widened like twice their normal size, quickly lifted his head off of my shoulder, and thanked whatever gods there were that Kyo was still solidly knocked out.
I looked around at everyone else.
Toshiya was messing around with a laptop. Die was knocked out like Kyo (but I think it was the hangover that had Die out cold). Shinya was reading a book. Kaoru was simply staring out the window.
I rubbed the side of my face. It felt warm. There was probably a red mark on it from where I had been sleeping on Kyo’s shoulder.
I couldn’t help but think how surprisingly soft that shoulder had been…like I said before, I have really strange thoughts during hangovers.
I looked at Toshiya who was still screwing around with the laptop.
“Can I use that when you’re done?” I asked him.
He looked up at me and nodded.
About fifteen minutes later, Toshiya shoved the laptop in my direction.
I logged onto my e-mail. It had been a while since I last checked it.
There was a bunch of spam, an e-mail from my closest friend back in America, Lynn, an e-mail from…from…from ALEX!
What the hell?!?!?! Was me slapping him and throwing a glass of water in his face not good enough of a hint?!?!?!?!
Shaking my head, I clicked the e-mail from Lynn first, and read:
Hey Kim,
How are you doing?!?!?!?! I miss you so much!!!!!!
I’m sad that you went all the way back to Japan.
Please tell me it wasn’t because of Alex.
He is sooooo not worth all of that.
So…how are you and Kyo getting along?
Have you made out with him yet? :P
Let me know what’s going on with you (or else :D)
- Lynn
I almost choked on my own spit when I read the part about Kyo.
I glanced at him again. Still asleep. Good.
I pressed the reply button and typed:
Lynn,
I’m fine.
No I didn’t leave because of Alex…not entirely anyway.
I was just starting to get tired of Chicago.
Not to mention I was having some trouble holding down a steady enough job.
Besides, it’s great to see Kaoru and everybody again.
Me and Kyo haven’t attempted to murder each other yet, so I guess we’re getting along somewhat ok.
And NO we have not been having a secret romance.
And NO I DO NOT have some secret unknown attraction to him.
I miss you too…e-mail me back soon.
- Kim
Shaking my head about Lyn’s presumptions about me and Kyo, I cautiously clicked on the e-mail from Alex.
I almost wanted to throw the computer out the window as I began to read it.
Baby,
How many times do I have to apologize?
I made a huge mistake, I know.
I don’t know what I was thinking at the time.
I need you.
Please come back to Chicago.
I want to settle down with you and finally be happy.
I love you and really miss you.
Love,
Alex
Nearly shaking in anger, I viciously clicked on the reply button and angrily began to type:
First of all, don’t call me baby.
I didn’t like being called it when we were dating.
I sure as hell hate it now.
Yes, you did make a huge mistake.
You knew exactly what you were thinking.
You were thinking that you could get lucky with that stupid blonde bitch and that I’d never find out about it.
But I did find out.
I’m done with you.
FOR GOOD.
Save all your pathetic apologies.
I really don’t give a damn about them or you anymore.
Don’t try contacting me again.
- Kim
I pressed ‘send’ then shut the laptop off, closed the lid and shoved it back at Toshiya.
“Are you okay?” he asked me, taking the laptop.
“Fine,” I said, pressing my lips together.
He didn’t believe me. I didn’t care. He didn’t pursue the subject. I thought that he made a wise choice.
I saw Kaoru staring at me with a piercing look. He was going to force it all out of me later…one way or another.
Kyo had woken up by now.
I swear to whatever god there is; one snarky comment and I was going to throw a hissy fit. I really was.
Kyo looked at Kaoru, and then looked back at me. I just stared straight ahead.
I knew Kaoru still had that ‘I’m going to burn holes through you until you spit it all out’ look that he was currently giving me.
I knew that Kyo knew something was up, but he didn’t say anything.
It’s good to know that most of Dir En Grey’s members could make good choices.
A/N: Well there's the fourth chapter...it took me about a week to do this. Originally this chapter was about half of the length it currently is, but my muse decided to give me a good smack to force me to make it longer and better :D
And to anyone who was offended by the blonde comment in Kim's letter to Alex: I don't have anything against blondes. I don't have the whole syreotype of "All blondes are air heads" or anything...I'm actually blonde myself.
I'll try to update soon...maybe my very reliable muse will give me a few good knocks on the head to force an update out of me :P
