A short time later everyone had gathered in one of the larger dressing areas to make room for everyone to be at the meeting. the walls of this room were the same dull grey with various posters of music and sporting events taped up. there was a small ugly overstuffed couch and several metal folding chairs had been brought in. Till introduced Lynn to the others and she blushed her way through all of the introductions. It was one thing to admire them when they were onstage, it was quite another to be face to face with them all.
Flake and Oliver especially intimidated her because of their great height but Oliver had made her feel more at ease with his gentle smile and quiet unassuming demeanor. Paul was simply a short bundle of happy energy, he always seemed to be laughing and smiling at something, he was a very easy person to like. Schnyder was off to the side sitting already tapping out a nervous staccato rhythm with his drumsticks and Richard stood off to the other side like a silent sentinel, Paul shot his normally smiling brother several questioning looks but Richard continued to frown for now caught up in his own thoughts.
Lynn was currently curled up next to Till on an the overstuffed couch, at least she was finally starting to feel comfortable with being with Till, her instincts and knowledge of Carpathian relationships helped her accept him sooner than she thought she would. It had helped that she really had loved him before even knowing he was her lifemate, listening to his music and watching the videos and concerts over and over.
There was a light knock on the door and it opened revealing a tall man with dark hair, darker eyes, old eyes that had seen too much violence in their lifetime. He held himself with an air of old world elegance and a warrior's confidence that only a lifetime of battle could give a man. He would be a formidable opponent on the field of battle and an excellent man to have at your back in a fight.
Before anyone else could react Lynn practically bounced off the couch an exuberant ball of happy energy and went strait to the stranger, almost tackling him with a huge hug. The stranger looked very relieved to see her as well, his relief was written all over his face as he hugged her to him.
"Daddy" She shouted as she hugged him. He caught her up in a big hug, then set her away from him to make sure she was really ok, looking her over from head to toe. Till still sat on the couch deathly still, trying to make his mind behave itself. to not go and retrieve her, the urge to protect her from someone unknown to him was strong, and getting stronger. This was her father and he would let her have her happy reunion, even if it killed him. He had a feeling it would only get worse the closer they became, he wasn't sure he would even be comfortable with the others touching her and they were his brothers, at least not until he had made her his completely only time would tell.
"you worried me sick when we found you had gone anyway." Falcon said, scolding her. "I told you it was dangerous to go, you know i had my reasons." Lynn's ability to communicate telepathically was not as strong as it should be, and falcon had been unable to contact her over so vast a distance. It wasn't until she had connected to Till that he had been able to hear or sense her at all. He had found her simply by heading to the concert where he knew she had wanted to go. It wasn't as if she had made a great effort to hide what she wanted to do from them or where she wanted to go.
Lynn hung her head down looking at the floor, blushing slightly, "i know, but i just couldn't let the opportunity pass, something was just drawing me here. I had to come it was like a compulsion, i had to see them live in person." She turned to look at Till as he sat there on the couch, deathly silent and completely still, and so very handsome. He was still trying to keep his cool dispute his strong urges otherwise. Richard sensing Tills distress, and internal struggle growled low in his throat.
"I am glad you are safe." falcon said, easily taking in the situation from his centuries of existence. "He needs you with him for now, go back to him you know what to do." He turned her around and pushed her back towards where Till and the others sat. She went back quietly and curled up on the couch next to him once again leaning into his warmth, feeling slightly tired now that all the excitement and worry was over.
Falcon stood there for a moment, taking them all in. He had heard stories of them through Lynn and her love of the band and their music. He had just never imagined that they were anything other than mere ordinary humans. All together they appeared to be a very mismatch group of men and no one would ever expect them to be anything other than what they appeared to be.
"I am Falcon, Lynn's adopted father. I am sure you have many questions for me." He leaned against the closed door in a very relaxed manner his arms crossed over his chest and waited. There was a stillness about him and power clung to him like a second skin. This man would be deadly efficient and without mercy in a battle.
"how do we know this isn't some vampire bullshit trick." Richard spoke up, worried for his friend. They had run into all manner of vampires, and disposed of them all, but none of them had ever heard of Carpathian before. He wanted till to be happy and was glad he was back to his old self, but was worried it was some kind of a trick and knew the others would think the same thing.
Falcon chuckled "Because, she can't ever turn vampire. She is the light to his darkness, she anchorshim and keeps him from turning, just as my Sarah does for me. When he binds her to him there will never be a chance for him to turn either." He patiently explained.
Richard looked at Lynn, curled into tills side seeming to hide next to him. She looked so small and fragile, exhaustion stamped into her features. It seemed incredible to him that one woman could be so important, she held their future in her hands and didn't even seem to know it. He watched as she fought to stay awake, a battle she was apparently loosing much to his amusement.
"What do you mean, bind her to me" Till spoke up this time, clearly confused. The thought that he could have turned into that which they had fought and killed had never occurred to him. The sudden thought that he could have turned on his family distressed him greatly and he frowned. He couldn't imagine any of the others being strong enough to contain him had he actually turned.
"the ritual words all Carpathian males are born knowing, they are imprinted at birth. When we find our lifemates we recite the words and bind her to us, it is the human equivalant of being married but so much more. You recite the words and exchange blood and physically join." Falcon looked a bit uncomfortable when he said the last and quickly hurried on explaining. "There will never be one without the other, one lifemate rarely survives the passing of the other." Falcon explained. "One mate will usually choose to follow the other into death rather than live without them. Carpathian lifemates are like two haves of the same whole, she completes you, and anchors you to the light."
Till nodded thoughtfully, "i keep hearing these words in my head since i saw her in the parking lot, they didn't make sense, but they do now." He looked thoughtful for a moment "Why have we only seen vampires, why haven't we heard of Carpathian?"
"We we're up until a short time ago under attack by not just so called vampire hunters but by a now dead wizard. The Carpathian race is dying out, we are in danger of becoming extinct. Lifemates are far and few between, our males can sometimes go hundred, even thousands of years without finding their true lifemate. Our females are precious and guarded like the true treasures they are."
Richard spoke up then "Thousands, you just said thousands of years. Till is going to live thousands of years." His voice broke a little at the end and there was a sadness in his eyes as he looked at his friend.
"don't look so sad brothers, we have no idea how long the rest of you will live. All of you have slowed your aging the more we all shift to our wolf forms." Till tried to reassurehim, they were the only family he had the thought of loosing any of them was unbearable.
"i know this may not be the best solution but you could all be converted to Carpathian, similar to what was done to Till." Falcon suggested quietly "it would not be easy for any of you, but if it makes you feel better know that you wouldn't loose your wolf selves, Till is not unique in his situation."
Till nodded thoughtfully, "it never occurred to me that such a thing could be done, i thought i was a freak, a product of modern science. It is something that can be saved for a later date, after we have settled the matter at hand."
"Seems you have already started to settle things just fine." falcon said, giving the new couple a smile. "She seems to be very comfortable with you all." Pointing out that along the way Lynn had fallen asleep on them. She was curled into Tills side, sleeping quietly, blissfully unaware of anyone, or anything around her, there was a small peaceful smile on her face.
Till took a moment to look down at Lynn, sleeping peacefully at his side. "Why is she weak, she seems to tire so easily?" He asked worried that he could loose her if her health was in danger.
"she refuses to sleep in the healing earth, going to ground and sleeping the true Carpathian sleep the way she must while the sun is high, her health suffers for this." he explained carefully. "i usually have to force her into going to ground to sleep the way she must."
"you sleep in the earth, underground? i have never had to do that." Till sounded concerned.
"It could have to do with your dual nature, perhaps with enough blood exchanges she may not need it either, three full exchanges is usually sufficient." Falcon speculated. "Manilito still sleeps in the healing earth but it could be habit now, i do not know, i do know that sunlight does not appear to effect him as much anymore?"
"I will keep a close eye on her then until we know for sure" Till told him remembering the trouble some of the others had with their first transformations. The wolf selves appeared spontaneously and often were confused and disoriented at first, causing trouble and sometimes damage.
"I must take my leave of you all, i do not like being away from Sarah and the other children too long" Falcon said eager to return home now that he knew Lynn would be safe. "i will let the prince know of your existence, not just to meet you but to let others know of your existenceshould you need any assistance. Simply use the common path the way i did with Lynn earlier, someone should answer you."
"yes, we would like to meet others, perhaps work out future plans for retirement. We can not continue with our careers indefinitely without arousing suspicion. Till said thinking to the future. It was a nice thought that they would accept them without question and offer assistance if needed without even knowing them. "We still have plenty of years left" Richard complained his handsome face frowning. He enjoyed creating music and the attention he gained from it. He had no plans to slow down anytime soon.
"Years yes," Till said "Decades, or centuries, No" he reminded him gently.
Falcon said his goodbye's with a promise to keep in touch should they need it, and slipped out the door back into the nite leaving them to their thoughts.
Paul looked at the tiny woman curled into Tills side, she was small and looked very delicate tucked into his side. he was amazed that such a tiny woman could hold so much in her hands, she held the future of not just the band but of the whole pack in her hands. "so" he said "shes our new sister?" he said.
"shes so small" Oliver said looking concerned "we will have to be careful around her" thinking they would not be able to rough house around her as much as they did with each other for fear of hurting her. He had the feeling if she got hurt Till would have a fit and someone would meet with an unpleasant end.
"shes small but she will get stronger the longer i feed her." Till said "she should become as i am soon." Thinking on what falcon had said about the blood exchanges. "already she seems stronger, shes simply worn out from all the excitement and healing her injury earlier."
Ollie nodded and smiled thinking he liked the idea of having a sister, maybe she would play video games with him, if not maybe he could teach her how to play?
"i always wanted a sister" Paul said, he sounded happy to have her there, but there was a sad glint to his eyes as he said it, as if reliving some long buried memory he would rather forget.
"come, lets get her back to the hotel so she can sleep in a proper bed" Till said gathering her into his arms and heading to the door. They got into the limo leaving the crew to pack and gather the equipment and costumes for the next venue they would be headed to in a few days. They all had houses here in Berlin but chose to meet at the hotel so they could be together to start the new tour.
He gave them all last minute orders to gather her things from the room at the hostel, plucking the location from her memories. He carried her into his suite and into the bedroom shutting the door behind him and laying down with her to get some much need sleep.
Again Falcon and Sara are borrowed from Mrs. Feehan, They really are very good books and you should read them. You can preview first chapters on her website.
Thanks for reading and i will work on getting five up soon, any spelling and grammar mistakes are mine, again if you have questions or comments let me know. Hope this chapter makes the Carpathian aspect of the story clearer.
Edit: i fixed the breaks... i hate it when it deletes my breaks :{
