A/N: Okay my lovelies, so terribly sorry that the updates are barely creeping by, I promise I will try to get the updates up quicker if I can get my plot bunnies back. There have been troubles at home, so I haven't been having any muse. Here's to hoping that the muse comes back soon enough. (Also I only have like 37 days until I get back to school, so updates might hit a bump or speed up then too.) Well, here's the next much anticipated chapter. *hugs*

Rebecca had let Patrick push her downstairs and into the living room, where she curled up on the couch, hugging her knees to her chest, only to lean her head against his chest as he sat down beside her, wrapping his arms around her lightly. She felt like she had wasted all the tears she had earlier, but felt herself crying again at his kindness. He had already known about the problems that the article mentioned, but now it was out for the world to know putting them both in the spotlight for the time being, and yet he seemed to be accepting of it, and she couldn’t help but feel even more grateful for that.
“Rebecca, are you alright?”
She looked up to see her mother standing in the doorway, holding a tray with hot tea and a few pastries on it, a tired look of worry on her face. Rebecca nodded and managed a small smile as her mother brought the tray into the room and placed it on the small table in front of the couch, pouring a cup of tea for her and holding it out with a small smile.
“It’s the jasmine tea that you love so much. What’s wrong, dear? Peter won’t tell me anything, he just keeps muttering about having a meeting with the other boys that he works with and something about a large scandal.”
Rebecca took the cup of tea that her mom held out to her and smiled as the older woman poured another cup for Patrick with a small smile. Although when she mentioned the scandal, Becca thought she would burst into tears again. She felt Patrick lay his hand lightly on her leg and took a deep breath.
“Mom, the scandal was about me. Someone found out a lot of nasty things from my past. And they posted them online. It was a nasty article aimed at making me look terrible in the public eye. Almost like the things that people have done to Petey.”
“Oh, Rebecca, I’m sorry. Do you want me to call your father from work?”
“No thanks, Mom. I think I’ll just sit here for a bit. I have company enough right now. Spencer and Ryan are supposed to be dropping by soon as well.”
“Alright, dear. Just let me know if you need anything, okay?”
Rebecca nodded as her mom turned and walked back out of the room. She turned and curled up closer to Patrick after putting the cup of tea back on the table, untouched. She didn’t feel like having the tea right now, she felt like crawling into a hole and hibernating until all mention of scandals and Aiden were wiped from the earth.
The sudden noise of the dogs going crazy let her know that there was someone new here, the doorbell following not too long afterwards proved it. She watched as Pete went to answer the door and heard the muffled conversation before she saw Spencer peek around the edge of the doorway before walking into the room and over to where she was sitting. She could tell by the expression on his face that he was beyond worried for her, as he looked like he was about to cry any moment now as well.
“Hey, partner. How are you holding up?”
Rebecca laughed a little before moving to throw her arms around Spencer’s neck, hugging him tightly and getting the reassurance that can only come from a best friend. She left a light kiss on his cheek as she pulled back.
“I’m alive. Trying not to think about it though. Come on and sit down. You shouldn’t be running around after being so sick anyways.”
She pulled him over to the couch with her, sitting down between two of the most important people to her. Taking both their hands she curled up between them and laid her head lightly on Patrick’s shoulder. She closed her eyes for a moment, just letting herself feel safe knowing that the boys would never let anything hurt her that they could prevent. Soon enough the strain of the scandal and the fatigue along with having drained almost all of her emotions took its toll and she fell asleep, safe between her boyfriend and best friend.

Rebecca opened her eyes and found herself curled up with only Spencer, who had wrapped his arms around her protectively, and glanced around confusedly. Spencer put a hand on her shoulder with a small grin.
“It’s okay, Becca. Patrick went to help Pete and Ryan with some stuff for the rebuttal, so I told him I would watch you. How are you feeling now?”
“Like I’m wishing I could say it was all a nightmare. But since you mentioned a rebuttal, I know it’s still the horrid truth.”
“It will all work out. Besides, you have three very determined guys working their hardest at getting everything fixed back for you. They won’t stop until it’s fixed. I know Ry’s stubbornness.”
Rebecca giggled and nodded before picking up the cup of tea she had set on the table unwanted before, and frowned a little seeing that it was now cold. She ran a hand through her hair and sighed. She stood slowly and smiled at the worried look on Spencer’s face.
“I’m just going to go grab a quick shower. I think I could use the hot water right now. I’ll be right back.”
She smiled as Spencer nodded and turned heading up the stairs to her room to grab a pair of loose jeans and one of her oversized band t-shirts along with undergarments before she walked over to the bathroom.
Rebecca let the warmth of the water seep into her bones even before getting into the shower, wrapping her arms around herself as she stood in the middle of the small bathroom. She stepped into the water and let it wash over her, and silently began to cry again. After a moment, she managed to calm herself and finish the actual shower before stepping out and drying her hair and getting dressed. She gathered her other clothes and the towel she had used and carried them back to her room and sat down to run the brush through her hair, letting the soothing motion calm her even more.
Finally when she couldn’t spend any more time trying to keep from thinking about the disaster she knew was awaiting her, Rebecca slowly went back downstairs and heading to the living room, smiling as she noticed a small gathering in the room. She walked over and gave Ryan a light kiss on the cheek for his reassuring smile before settling on the couch again, snuggling back between Patrick and Spencer, a bit confused and yet reassured by the large number of people in the room.
“Hey, Joe-Joe. Sorry you had to come for such a horrible time.”
“Don’t worry about it, Becca. Besides, what more fun could I have than figuring up some way to get back at some pompous and self-righteous newspaper wannabe. Coming up with plots at a moment’s notice is my specialty, remember?”
Rebecca smiled and leaned her head on Patrick’s shoulder, as Joe started to list out the various ideas that he had for ways to get back at the people who had slandered her. She knew that if anyone of her friends could come up with a plan to get everything as close to normal as before, it would be Joe.
