"So, you're grounded?" Ashley asked as she poked the lasagna on her plate.
"Yea," Kelly nodded.
"What happened?"
"I skipped school yesterday."
"Why?"
"I fell asleep," she shrugged.
"Carrie didn't wake you?"
"She fell asleep too," Kelly admitted.
"Oh...yea, she wasn't here either."
"Ash..."
Ashley turned to face her.
Kelly shook her head.
"I just want things to go back to normal."
"I do too."
"Good," she smiled.
"I don't think it's that simple, though."
"Why not?"
"Ash, you've been pretty mean."
"I was being immature. I'm sorry."
"Are you going to apologize to Carrie too?"
"Sure," she forced herself to continue to smiling.
Kelly nodded, "Ok."
"So, best friends again?"
"Yea, of course," Kelly smiled, standing.
"Where are you going?"
"The bells about to ring, and I told Care I'd walk her to her next class."
"You walk her to her class?" Ashley managed to keep the edge out of her voice.
"Yea, she figured she'd want to talk about the meeting," Kelly shrugged. "See you later."
"Yea...later..." Ashley nodded.

"Young Lady," an older man at one of Kelly's tables grabbed her arm as she passed.
"Yes sir?" Kelly turned to him.
"My steak isn't cooked all the way," he complained, showing her his plate.
"You ordered it rare," Kelly reminded politely, managing to pull her arm away.
"It's still all pink in the middle," he argued.
Kelly forced a smile, "Yes sir, a rare steak is supposed to still be pink in the middle."
"This isn't what I wanted," he shook his head, pushing the plate towards her. "Take it back."
"Yes sir," Kelly nodded, taking the plate, cursing under her breath the whole way to the kitchen. "Damn wannabe cowboy...can't even handle a rare steak...all he wants is a friggin free meal..." she put the plate on the counter in the kitchen agitatedly.
The young chef looked down at her. He was easily a foot taller than her, "What's wrong with it?"
"He said it's still pink."
"The order said rare," he raised an eyebrow.
Kelly groaned, "Look I don't care if you burn the damn thing, ok? He said he doesn't want it pink."
The chef chuckled lightly, "Breathe KC...just breathe."
"He was an absolute ass, grabbing my arm as I passed, and that's the third one tonight that had me bring their meal back when there was absolutely nothing wrong with it," she fussed. "You know what that means? That means I'm not gonna make shit in tips tonight."
"It's ok," he patted her shoulder, taking the steak. "We'll take care of it. I'll bring it back to him myself."
"Thanks," Kelly offered a smile, wiping her hands on a towel before walking back out onto the floor. She plastered on a smile as she went to greet a new table. "Hey, my name is--oh thank God," she let out a sigh of relief at the sight of Carrie looking up at her from the table.
"Well, that's a pretty cool name," Carrie teased, standing.
Kelly pulled her into a hug, feeling the day's stress rolling off of her.
"You ok?" Carrie asked, rubbing her back gently before pulling away and sitting back down.
"Tonight has been horrible," she admitted.
"How much longer you have?"
"Well, I'm cut in like ten minutes, so if I'm lucky I should be outta here in half an hour."
"Mind if I wait for you here?"
"Not at all, that means they can't sit me anymore," Kelly smiled. "You want something to drink or anything?"
"A sprite?"
"Sure. You're hungry?"
"A little," she admitted.
"No problem," Kelly squeezed her hand that was resting on the table. "I'll bring you out an--"
She was cut off by the sound of something slamming onto a table. Both girls turned to see what was going on. Kelly smiled when she realized that the chef had placed a raw piece of steak on the table before the man that he just returned his meal. She couldn't help but laugh.
The man looked up at the chef in shock.
"Is there a problem with the meal that I prepared for you?" the young chef asked, folding his arms. He seemed to tower over the table.
"I--I--"
The chef leaned down, lowering his voice, "I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't waste a perfectly good steak--this is Texas, people get arrested for things like that--and I'd also appreciate it if you would show a little bit of respect to my waitresses. If I hear that you laid a hand on one of them again, I swear this will be a much less calm conversation..." he stood up straight. "Enjoy your meal, sir."
Kelly smiled as the chef walked to her, giving her shoulder a gentle squeeze in passing.
"What was that about?" Carrie asked, giggling.
"The guy was being a butthead. And the chef, Justin, he was friends with my brother when they were younger. He moved here when he got a job as head chef here a couple years ago. He's the one that got me this job, actually. It's nice having him around...he reminds me a lot of Jason."
"Jason's your brother, right?"
"Yea," Kelly nodded. "I don't get to see him a lot, so it's cool having a somewhat brother type person around."
Carrie smiled, "Especially to deal with butthead customers?"
"Definitely," Kelly laughed. She gave Carrie's hand that she was still holding another squeeze. "I'm gonna go get that sprite for you, and I'll bring you out an appetizer, ok?"
"Sounds perfect," Carrie agreed.

"Would it be ok if I said I was nervous?" Kelly asked as she sat on the floor, leaning back against her bed, her legs stretched out.
"Of course," Carrie reached out from where she sat beside her, facing her, brushing Kelly's hair off her shoulder.
Kelly swallowed hard, "Would it be ok if I said I haven't been able to think of anything else but this since we talked about it?"
Carrie leaned forward, kissing her softly.
Kelly gave a small smile, "So how do we do this?"
Carrie took the hair tie from around her wrist and used it to pull her hair up, "We're gonna keep this simple."
"Ok," she nodded, listening intently, her eyes now glued to the other girl's exposed neck.
Carrie smiled, leaning forward and kissing her again.
Kelly felt herself relaxing.
Carrie's smile softened, "It's perfectly ok to be nervous."
"How do we keep this simple?"
"Well, the majority of time, not always, but usually, you don't kiss someone on the neck like right of the bat."
"No?"
"No, you usually start elsewhere, and let things build up," she explained, her heart already beating faster than normal as she looked into the shorter girl's eyes. "But, every now and then, you might go straight there, whether you're just being playful or...and for the sake of this, we'll just keep it simple and go straight there that way you don't have to worry about the build up or anything, and just focus on the task at hand."
Kelly smiled.
"What?"
"You talk about it like it's some scientific procedure or something."
"Sorry," she laughed softly. "Guess, maybe, I'm a little nervous too."
"You?"
"I haven't done this in a while."
"Yea, but a while for you is a few months, a while for me is nearly eighteen years," Kelly pointed out. "You so have the upper hand."
Carrie nodded, bringing a hand up to cradle her cheek.
Kelly turned her face, kissing her palm lightly.
"You're getting good at that," Carrie smiled. "You know: reacting."
"You were right," she shrugged. "It helps if you relax, and just let it happen naturally."
"Ok, you're ready?"
Kelly nodded, watching as Carrie straddled her lap. She rested her hands on the Oklahoma native's thighs.
Carrie swallowed hard, "Jus-just remember...let it come naturally."
Kelly nodded again as she leaned forward, watching as Carrie tilted her head to the side for her. She pressed her lips against her neck.
Carrie bit her bottom lip.
Kelly pulled back, looking at her nervously, "How's that?"
Carrie swore her heart melted as she looked into her eyes, "You're not relaxed, are you?"
"How can you tell?"
"Well, first, you're way too worried about what I think."
"Isn't it important what the other person thinks?"
"Yes, but you shouldn't let that thought scare you off."
Kelly nodded.
"And also, when we talk about body kisses, it's usually not just one and you're done."
Kelly's brows furrowed.
"I'm sure you've watched movies with this stuff, right?" Carrie asked, keeping her voice gentle.
"Well, yea, but..."
"But what?"
"I don't know what I'm doing," she replied, her voice showing a hint of frustration. "I've never done this before. I don't know how many times I'm supposed to kiss you. I have nothing to base it off of. I don't know how it's supposed to feel or how I'm supposed to feel or how you're supposed to feel...I just...I don't know."
Carrie smiled softly, "And it's perfectly ok that you don't know. That's why we're doing this, remember? So you can learn. Don't be afraid to ask or to mess up, ok? I am not judging you at all."
"Ok," she whispered.
"How about...how about we come at this differently?"
"Differently how?"
"Like, I kiss you. You just said you're not sure how it's supposed to feel, so maybe this way you can get more comfortable with it, without you actually having to do anything."
"Ok," she nodded.
Carrie smiled, leaning forward and kissing her lips softly. She pulled back slowly, "I need you to stay perfectly still."
Kelly nodded again.
Carrie took a deep breath. She knew the only way she would be able to remain levelheaded through this was to have the other girl move as little as possible. She leaned forward once more, placing a gentle kiss on the edge of her jawline. Her fingers traced to just under Kelly's chin where she pushed carefully, tilting her head upward. Her lips grazed the Texan's neck. She felt her head spin as she kissed her again. Her lips made a slow deliberate path to the base of Kelly's neck.
Carrie felt Kelly's hands smoothing up her thighs. She took a shaky breath as she leaned a little more into her, her hands resting on the bed behind Kelly. She could hear Kelly's breath quickening as her teeth grazed the side of her neck. Kelly's arms wrapped around her, pulling her flush against her. Carrie's heart quickened as she pushed against the shorter girl, her fists now clenched against the comforter of her bed.
Kelly's breath caught in her throat as Carrie's lips parted. A soft whimper escaped as Carrie sucked gently on the soft spot beneath her ear. Her hands clung to the taller girl's hips, pulling her as close as she could.
Carrie's lips were moving quickly now, her teeth and tongue grazing over her skin. She could feel Kelly's pulse raising as her lips pressed against the side of her throat. Her skin was soft, and she could feel the moan she elicited vibrating against her lips. She leaned as far forward as she could, pressing Kelly against the bed behind her. Her knuckles had to be white, her hands were gripping onto the comforter so tightly to keep from going anywheres else.
Kelly's hands reached up, cupping Carrie's face and pulling her up. She pressed their lips together firmly, tugging on Carrie's bottom lip with her teeth before kissing her heatedly. She felt the other blonde's tongue in her mouth, and she grew dizzy. She held her face firmly in her hands, their kissing becoming slightly desperate. She felt what could best be described as Carrie sucking on her tongue, and she swore she was going to pass out.
Carrie broke the kiss roughly, kissing along Kelly's jawline. Kelly's hands fell back to her hips, tugging at her, trying to fulfill the need she felt to get the other girl closer. Carrie took the Texan's earlobe between her teeth, sucking. Kelly gasped, her hands tugging at Carrie's shirt. Carrie kissed her way back, their lips crashing together. She reached up, taking Kelly's chin in her hands, holding her there as she pulled away quickly. Kelly's eyes shot open at the lack of contact.
Carrie's jaw was set as she struggled to control her breathing. Kelly's eyes were visibly darker, and she silently cursed at herself for taking advantage of her like that, "I...I'm sorry."
"Huh?" Kelly struggled to focus on something other than the way she could still feel Carrie's lips against her skin.
"I--I got carried away," Carrie explained. "I'm sorry."
"Why'd you stop?"
"I just..." Carrie shook her head, looking at her worriedly. She could feel her eyes starting to burn.
"Care..." Kelly reached out, pulling her into a hug.
Carrie buried her face in Kelly's neck, her eyes closing as the other girl held her closely, "I stopped now because I wouldn't have been able to stop a minute from now."
"I don't...I don't understand," Kelly shook her head, wrapping her arms tighter around her.
"I know and that's what scares me."
"Me not understanding?"
"If I let myself relax with you, what's going to stop us?"
"Stop us from what?"
Carrie sighed, wrapping her arms around her neck, snuggling further into her.
"Care, I seriously don't get what you're talking about. I mean, do you not want to do this anymore?"
"No, I want to."
"Then what's with all the talk about stopping?"
Carrie closed her eyes tightly.
"Care, please, I just want to know what has you so upset," Kelly rubbed her back soothingly.
"I like kissing you," she admitted in a whisper.
"I like kissing you too," Kelly replied, confused.
"You don't ever think about that?"
"What's there to think about?"
Carrie felt herself calming as Kelly stopped rubbing her back and wrapped her arms back around her.
"Maybe you need to take your own advice and stop thinking," Kelly said softly. "Why can't you just enjoy something without worrying about everything else?"
Carrie's lips brushed against her neck, her eyes closing lightly as Kelly started to hum softly, allowing her to relax.

Kelly's eyes opened at the feeling of something soft pressing lightly against her lips. She smiled at the sight of Carrie pulling away after the gentle kiss, "Mornin'."
"Morning," Carrie smiled.
"Why are you waking me up so early?"
"It's not that early, and I just heard your mom leave."
"Mk?" she snuggled into her.
"I need to get you into the bathroom without her seeing."
"Bathroom?"
"You have make up, right?"
Kelly nodded, "Yea, somewhere in there."
"Ok, come on, let's get you up," Carrie sat up, trying to pull her with her. "Baby, come on. Help me out, here."
"I don't wanna wake up," she mumbled, her eyes still closed as she sat up.
"That's fine. You can sleep. Just walk with me to the bathroom."
Kelly frowned, allowing Carrie to pull her out of bed. She drug her feet as Carrie guided her to the bathroom.
Carrie helped the shorter girl onto the bathroom counter before she turned back, closing the door. She laughed softly as Kelly rubbed her eyes, yawning cutely.
"So what's all this about?"
"Just covering my tracks so to speak," Carrie replied, digging in the cabinet, pulling out a tube of foundation.
Kelly looked at her, confused.
Carrie pointed to the mirror behind her.
Kelly turned, raising an eyebrow as she looked at her reflection, "Is that a bruise?"
"The proper term is a hickey."
"I have a hickey?" Kelly looked at her, smiling.
"Are you excited?" Carrie laughed softly.
"I've never had a hickey before," she shrugged.
Carrie shook her head, "Well, you do now. Now chin up."
"Are you gonna give me another one?"
"No," Carrie laughed. "I'm gonna cover up the one you already have. You are a serious dork when you're tired, you know that?"
Kelly shrugged.
"Ok, chin up."
Kelly tilted her head back, "So why do you have to cover it up?"
"I don't think your mom will be too thrilled about you having a hickey to begin with, not too mention if she thought about the fact that you didn't have one before you went into your room with me last night, but you have one when you came out of the room this morning."
"You think my mom will know what a hickey is?"
"It wasn't invented yesterday, you know," Carrie giggled, as she began to cover up the mark. "I'm sure your mom had plenty of hickeys in her day."
"Ok, ew, that's just gross."
"It's true."
"Well, I'm sure your mom did too."
"Nah, my mom's too much of a prude for that," Carrie smiled.
"She has three kids. She's not that much of a prude."
"Yea, but my dad's gay, so as far as I'm concerned, we're all adopted."
"Or dropped off by aliens," Kelly teased.
"Well, whichever," Carrie laughed. "I sleep better not having to think about my parents having sex. I mean, I feel sorry for you."
"For me?"
"You realize your mom and Jimmy totally do it all the time, right?"
"They do not," Kelly made a face, looking down at her.
"They do too. I mean, they've only been married a few years, right? They're totally still newly weds. They probably go at it every night."
"They do not," she protested.
"How would you know? You sleep so hard, you'd never hear them," Carrie pointed out.
Kelly felt her stomach turn, "New subject...new subject..."
