Life Goes On(Pt48)
Evelyn lumbered outside to catch the late afternoon breeze. The sun was preparing itself for slumber, slowly dipping towards the horizon. The baby was finally taking a nap and now Evelyn could get some rest from his or her activities. Turning the corner of the house to sit in one of the chairs Phil had set up outside, Evelyn was surprised to see Olivia sitting there, her head hanging low.
Evelyn approached quietly. "Oh Olivia, I didn’t know you were out here." Olivia didn’t respond but Evelyn continued. "It’s a beautiful sunset isn’t it?"
Olivia turned her head and looked at Evelyn, her eyes red and puffy. "What’s so beautiful about sunsets, all that means is night is coming."
Evelyn looked at Olivia. 'What is wrong with her?' Joe had told Evelyn a little of the problems Sav and Olivia were experiencing. But Evelyn wasn’t blind. She didn’t need Joe’s confidence to detect something wasn’t right with Olivia, hasn't been since the guys left. Their growing friendship fell to the way side when the guys left. Olivia did however, join her and Gail on shopping ventures or dinner, but remained relatively quiet during those trips. She could understand that Olivia missed Sav, she missed Joe as well. And Gail undoubtedly missed Phil. Joe had suggested that she try to talk to Olivia, maybe it was a "female" thing and Olivia would confide in her.
Evelyn doubted it. But since this opportunity has now presented itself, she decided to give it a try. For Sav’s sake and for Joe’s sake as well.
"Olivia, before I met Joe, I might have looked at the night another way, but since I have been with him, with the light of the stars and the moon in all if's phases, well…night time has its own beauty; can’t be duplicated under the daytime sun."
Olivia looked at Evelyn hard. "Are you trying to be a poet or something?"
Evelyn looked back at her. "No, I am not trying to be anything, except maybe a friend or just a decent human being who sees another human being hurting and trying to help."
Olivia lowered her head. "You can’t help me, no one can."
"Nothing can be that bad."
Olivia raised her head again and looked Evelyn in the eyes, not bothering to try to hide the pain and misery. Evelyn felt her own heart fill. Neither woman said a word for the longest time. The sun had begun its descent below the horizon, twilight and the first stars of the evening were peeking through.
"Olivia, whatever it is, I am here for you. You have to know Sav loves you, and he is here for you as well."
"Ha! Sav…Richard…whatever you want to call him. I regret the day I met him!" Olivia spat those words.
Evelyn was shocked. "You don’t mean that. I know you don’t or else you would have left the day after he did."
Olivia broke down and cried. Evelyn sat in her chair helpless. She knew that Olivia wouldn’t want her comfort.
"No, no I didn’t mean that. I love him with all my being, but…"
"But what?"
"Good evening ladies."
Both women turned their heads at the sound of the deep male voice. Olivia’s heart was beating frantically in her chest, her face tortured.
"Hello, Nick." Evelyn said. "I didn’t know you were back."
"Yes, well I finished the business I needed to attend earlier than I anticipated." He turned his attention to Olivia. "Good evening Miss Cooper, it is very nice to see you again."
Nick held Olivia’s eyes in his. Abruptly Olivia got out of her chair and ran into the house.

"Phil, do you think you can finish your dinner before you begin dessert?" Rick asked as Phil nuzzled Gail’s neck.
"I like it like this. I can have dinner and dessert at the same time."
Rick and Kelsey watched Phil and Gail, who were sitting across from them at the dinner table.
"You know Rick, it does look rather tasty." Kelsey whispered. Rick laughed and mimicked Phil, nuzzling Kelsey’s neck.
Phil caught them and laughed. "You know Rick, I’m beginning to think you’re having a change of heart about crossing over, hmm?"
"I doubt it very much."
"Don’t knock it till you try it." Joe chimed in. "And Phil, not at the table, you have eternity to enjoy the pleasures of Gail."
Phil looked at Gail. "Do you want me to stop, baby?"
"No way."
Phil looked at Joe triumphantly, then laughed. "See, gotta give the lady what she wants."
"Not at the table." Joe said more firmly.
Phil pretended to pout and sat more in his chair.
"I do believe Phil is enjoying his life as a vampire so far." Nick commented looking around the table. "By the way, where is Miss Cooper?" he asked looked at Sav.
"Maybe she doesn’t like the company." Joe quipped.
Nick smiled. "And who’s company are you referring to Joseph?"
Joe glanced around the table, then back at Nick. "Yours."
Nick ignored his comment, but the smug smile remained. His eyes fell on Sav. "Richard, perhaps you could coax the lovely Miss Cooper to join us for dinner."
Joe nearly choked on his blood wine. Hearing Nick refer to Sav by his given name only meant trouble. "Don’t start tonight Nick."
Sav wanted to know the same thing. 'Where was Olivia?' Draining his glass of the wine, he stood up from the table. "Yes Nicholas, don’t start tonight. If you’ll excuse me." he informed them, then left the dining room.

Sav stood outside of Olivia’s door. He sighed. ‘I have to get to the bottom of this. I have to know what the hell is wrong? What is going on?’ Sav knocked lightly on the door before opening it. Olivia was sitting on the bed. He was shocked to see her wearing a tank top and jeans. Usually she was in her ever-present terry cloth robe when ever she was in her room. But as usual, her head was hung low. It pained Sav to see her like this, but his desire for her never waned.
"Olivia."
She didn’t acknowledge his presence. Sav walked over to the bed and stopped in front of her. Slowly he put his hand under her chin to raise her head. Olivia turned her head and moved to get off the bed, but Sav wasn’t going to let her get away tonight. They had to talk, had to find a way back. Sav grabbed her, forcing her to stand in front of him. Olivia tried to pull away, but Sav held her tightly.
"Olivia, please talk to me." Sav pleaded. "That’s all I want to do, is talk to you and find out what is going on."
Olivia didn’t raise her head to look at him. She shook her head. Sav pulled her closer to him. He felt her flinch and try to pull away, but he wasn’t letting go tonight.
"What have I done to you, to make you want to run from me, shudder, almost in disgust, when I touch you? Please tell me."
Olivia heard the pain and pleading in Sav’s voice. "You did nothing."
"I love you. I wouldn’t have invited you into my home, my life with Joe. If I didn’t think you and I had a future. You believe that don’t you?"
Olivia nodded her head, but didn't looking at him. Sav pulled her closer, she held her body rigid, but Sav continued to close the gap between them until her body was resting against his. ‘Goodness she felt so good.’ Sav thought. It didn’t matter that her body remained rigid against his. It was the closeness that Sav was savoring. Involuntarily, his fangs were beginning to twitch in his gums. Sav lightly kissed her forehead.
"Please don’t…"
Sav cut off her words, engulfing her mouth with his. He felt her resistance, trying to pull away from him, but tonight he wasn’t going to release her. Holding her steady in his arms, his tongue probed deeper into her rigid mouth, demanding her sweetness give itself to him. His fangs dropped as his desire, held at bay for so long for her, began to overtake him. Olivia’s lips released their rigidity and she returned Sav’s passion with her own.
Sav felt the change in Olivia and his kiss became more intense, more demanding. His hands slowly lifted her tank top, his fingers lightly trailing Olivia’s warm curves, the flesh that has eluded him for weeks.
Olivia’s mind begged her to pull away from him, the man she loved with her whole heart, but her body, tormented by conflicting wants and needs, wanted him, to prove to him her love was real, but she couldn’t…she….
Sav felt the change occurring in her again, but he had come too far tonight to let her fear push him, or them apart tonight. Releasing her lips, his tongue blazed a trail of desire towards her inviting neck.
"I’ve needed you so much." Sav lightly brushed his fangs across the hollow of her neck. Olivia’s body was on fire, her mind in prison.
"Please don’t, please, no…" Olivia’s pleas were silenced as Sav’s fangs sank gently into her warm flesh. He tenderly sucked her blood at first, but the initial sweetness overwhelmed him and his tugs became more demanding.
Olivia moaned and it was music to Sav’s ears, a soft growl mixed with hers. His hands roamed over her breasts, her nipples coming alive in his hands. She had to get him to stop before he took to much, found out her deep, hidden secret, "Please, Rick no…"
But Sav couldn’t hear, his only sense at work was that of taste, the taste of her blood, after so long, filling his tongue’s receptors. Its initial sweetness, as sweet, maybe more so, than he remembered. He tasted her love for him, her desire for him, the dimming fire in her soul….hurt…pain...disgust.
Sav's brows knitted together in confusion. ‘This is not right, her blood tastes different now…almost...’ Sav need to know more. He sank his fangs deeper, pulling her deepest thoughts and secrets to the surface. He would find the answer’s there. The blood that poured over his tongue held a deeper pain… sorrow…humiliation... Sav stopped pulling the blood from her, keeping his teeth buried deep. He felt Olivia pushing against his shoulder, heard her pleas to stop. But he couldn't, he needed to know what she wouldn't tell him. A hard pull, blood rushed in his mouth, more hurt, sadness, anguish, the taste of something else …of someone else...another hard pull was all he could risk taking from her…someone…someone...rang in his mind…rape...Olivia's muffled scream reverberated in Sav’s mind...someone dark...more pain...someone… NICK!!!
