Part V
Be With Me Please I Beseech You
Tyson and Piper had now been ‘officially’ together for a month. They were still touring and enjoying every second together. Things were yet to get complex as Nick had predicted but still he knew that it was only a matter of time before Tyson pushed things too far, too fast as he always did. They were all now sitting at a table in the Hard Rock Café in Las Vegas, chatting about the show they had just performed.
“I still can’t believe I like fully tripped on the chord. That was so embarrassing!” Piper commented on the show. Isaac piped up.
“Yeah, thank God you didn’t land on my drum set.” That comment received him a punch in the arm from Joey.
“But you covered well, that’s what counts.” Tyson replied, sticking up for his girl.
“Yeah, at least you didn’t roll on the stage like Ty on Hard Rock Live.” Nick said smiling. Tyson threw a napkin at him.
“Hey, I didn’t expect the fans to try and rip my shirt off! They were like fucking animals.” Piper couldn’t help but laugh. Tyson turned to her. “And what do you think you’re laughing at?” She looked up into his blue eyes.
“I so have that show on type, and if I would have been there in the front when you reached out; let’s just say that shirt would now be part of my collection.” Nick, Mike, and Chris burst out laughing. Isaac and Joey were rather bewildered.
“Well, you are more then welcome to rip my shirt off any time you like.” Tyson said leaning in to kiss her.
“I might have to take you up on that offer.” She stated pressing her lips to his. Random napkins flew at the two of them from across the table.
“What the…” Tyson said coming up for air.
“No love making at the table!” Nick and Mike said in unison. The night was definitely an interesting one.
The tour was slowly nearing an end. They only had a few more shows to play, the last one being in Stillwater, Oklahoma at the university. Piper and Tyson were in one of the two dressing rooms in the back. They were now in Phoenix, Arizona. Tyson was on top of Piper on the floor and The Starting Line could be heard blasting from the small radio in the room. He pulled back from their lip-lock, desperate for air.
“We’re gonna get caught.” Piper said smiling at Tyson. He smiled back.
“Pipes, that’s what makes this all so much fun.” She smiled to herself at his nickname for her. He was trying to undo her bra. Suddenly the door swung open.
“Guys show starts…” Nick stopped. “Man! Come on! In the fucking dressing room!” Piper quickly grabbed her shirt and threw it on. Tyson sat.
“Man, don’t you know how to knock?” Tyson was furious.
“Dude, it’s my dressing room too! Had I of known you two were gonna…” He shook his head.
“Get out.” Tyson said standing and pushing Nick out of the room. Nick didn’t leave with out some minor objections. Piper stood.
“Ty, I think we should probably head out.” He looked down at her.
“But, Pipes…” she placed her finger on his lips.
“After the show.” Was all she said and then proceeded to walk out of the room, stopping only to kiss Tyson lightly on the cheek.
After the show Piper and Tyson were laying in the bed of the hotel room they had gotten for the night. Piper was sporting nothing but one of Tyson’s T-shirts and a pair of panties as he laid his head on her stomach with his arms around her waist. She had propped herself half way sitting and was running her fingers gingerly through his hair. He looked up into her big brown eyes.
“Pipes, you know the tour’s almost over, and…” He paused, thinking of what to say next.
“And? Ty just spit it out.” She said gently smiling.
“I want you to come and live with me in Stillwater.” He had spat it out. Her smile faded.
“Ty, geez, you don’t think it’s a little early for us to just move in together. I mean it’s one thing to spend a few nights together but living together is a big step.” Tyson’s expressions hardened.
“If you don’t want to just say so. Don’t drag on.” He snapped.
“It’s not that I don’t want to, it’s just, I don’t know if I’m ready for that. Luke and I didn’t even live together. We dated for like three years.” She stated.
“Well, we’re different. Look, just think about it.” He pulled himself up so that his lips met hers and gently kissed her. “I’m gonna go and take a shower.” With that he got out of bed and headed for the bathroom.
The next day Piper walked on to the Rejects’ bus to find Nick. Tyson had gone to some magazine interview. She wanted to talk to Nick about what Tyson had asked her. She walked onto the bus to find Nick sitting on the couch strumming away on his guitar. He looked up when he saw her.
“Piper, hey, what’s up?” He asked motioning for her to take a seat next to him on the couch.
“Well, I was wondering if you’d go out to lunch with me. Ty’s out at some interview thing and I gotta talk to some one about what happened last night. I figure you’re the one who knows him best, so you up for it?” She asked shyly.
“Yeah, sure.” With that they headed off to a local restaurant. Upon getting there they were seated and ordered their food. Nick turned his gaze to Piper. “So, what’d you want to talk about?” He asked.
“Well, Ty asked me to live with him in Stillwater.” She stated causing Nick to spew out his sip of beer.
“He what!?” Nick was genuinely shocked.
“He asked me to move in with him. I didn’t know what to say. Now I know he’s mad at me and…” Tears were now welling in her eyes.
“Piper, come on now. Don’t cry. He’s not mad. He’s moving too damn fast for his own good.” He smiled at her.
“Yeah, you’re right.” She smiled.
“Do you know whether or not you’re gonna move in with him?” Nick asked.
“No, I just think that it’s going way to fast. I mean it’s one thing to sleep together, but an entirely different thing to live together.” He let out a slight chuckle.
“There’s really not that big of a difference. I mean you two spend pretty much every waking second together. And you sleep together, so you have to ask yourself what really is the big difference.” Piper thought a second.
“Yeah, you’re right. Thanks Nick.” She stated as the waiter showed up with their food. “I think I’ll take him up on his offer.” They both smiled and began to eat.
Meanwhile Tyson sat in a room with a reporter. She kept asking him questions about his relationship with Piper. On the phone, when this reporter had called to schedule an interview, she had just said she wanted to talk with him about the tour. In actuality, she, like all the other reporters in the nation, wanted to know more about his relationship.
“How long have the two of you been together?” She asked. Tyson had to think hard about that one.
“A little over a month.” He stated as she wrote down his words.
“Have you written her a song yet?” Tyson smiled.
“Yeah, but it won’t be released for a while. Nick’s got to do all that music theory geeky shit to it.” Again she wrote down what he had to say.
“So, tell me if the rumors are true. Is Piper McCoy going to live with you in Stillwater? I’m sure your fans are dying to know.” Tyson tensed. How the fuck did they find out about that? He thought trying to quickly think of an answer.
“I asked her, yes, but she hasn’t answered me yet. Moving in together is kinda a big step, and we haven’t been together that long. I’m giving her time to make up her mind.” She frowned, obviously not getting the answer that she wanted.
“Well thanks for the interview. Our times up.” She stuck her hand out and Tyson shook it, fully ready to get the hell away from her and her questions. He had always hated interviews.
Piper and Nick were running over one of her songs that Joey had helped write. Nick was helping her pick up the tempo, as it was dragging behind. They were sitting on the ground outside of the bus when Tyson returned from his interview. Nick saw him, but he motioned for Nick not to let on that he was standing there. He wanted to surprise Piper. She had her back to him and was singing while Nick played guitar.
“Need a little salvation, need relief from all of this frustration, sick and tired of all these accusations over you, need a little motivation, need to refocus my concentration, need to loose my inspiration, for you. ‘Cuz you stole my heart, the moment I saw your face, I got swept away when I looked in your eyes, and soon I was flying high up in the sky, then suddenly you let go, and I came crashing down.” Tyson sat down next to her, being as he was so stunned by her lyrics to do much else. “Ty, hey. How’d the interview go?” She asked throwing her arms around his neck. He kissed her quickly before answering.
“It was all right. All the questions were about us, though.” She smiled. “So what are y’all doing?” He asked, having heard her singing an unfamiliar song. Nick decided to answer since Piper was unable to find her choice of words.
“Piper and Joey wrote this song about her getting the hell over Luke and moving on, and wanted some input, so she asked me.” He replied.
“Well, that’s cool, but why didn’t you ask me?” Tyson sounded genuinely hurt and wore an expression of a small boy who had just lost his dog.
“Ty, Nick’s just helping me jazz it up a bit. Joey already had the basic chords written.” She stated though she could tell he was still upset.
“Oh.” He paused. “I’ll leave you guys to finish up.” He said with a half-hearted smile before giving her a quick kiss and heading on the bus. Piper turned to Nick once Tyson was on the bus.
“You think guys go through PMS?” She asked him. He laughed at her comment. “Ty’s more of a drama queen then I am sometimes.” She sighed.
“Nah, he’s just a little hyper sensitive after interviews. Always has been. You wanna keep going or go check on your favorite drama queen?” He asked smiling.
“Yeah, sure might as well.” She replied, slightly hurt over Tyson’s reaction. So they continued to work through her song, even though Piper’s thoughts were no longer focused.
Later after finishing the song, Nick and Piper walked onto the bus. Nick walked to the back room and Piper sat next to Tyson on the couch, making sure to make it evident that she was there. Tyson didn’t even acknowledge her.
“Hey.” She said, still trying to get his attention.
“Hey.” He still didn’t look at her.
“Ty, don’t tell me you’re still upset?” This made Tyson turn his gaze to her.
“Pipes, I’m not upset. I’m just tired I guess.” He stated putting his arm around her. Piper knew it was something else and took a while to think about what it might be. She figured it was something said at the interview.
“What did that women ask you? ‘Cuz whatever it was you’re still totally wigging about it.” He smiled; they really did have a special connection in his eyes.
“She asked if we were gonna live together.” Piper looked up into his eyes. She was right after all.
“Is that all? I hope you told her yes.” It took a minute for what she had said to register. His eyes lit up when he realized what she meant.
“You really want to?” He asked, a little overly excited, like a child on Christmas morn.
“I’m totally stoked. I can’t wait to get to Stillwater.” She replied smiling. Tyson hugged her extra tight.
“You’re gonna love it there. It’s real peaceful except for the college parties, but other then that you’re gonna love it.” He was even more stoked then she was. So thus, they were on their way to living with one another in beautiful, peaceful, Stillwater, Oklahoma.
