A few weeks had passed and the situation in dorm room 14 had only gotten worse over time. Kaoru was currently on the phone with Noriko, while Toshiya was in his room. No doubt some slut was in the room with him, doing all sorts of shit. Kaoru wasn’t really paying attention to Noriko and her exams and he chewed his bottom lip. ‘And to think that I have to be roomed with him for the rest of my school career…’
Kaoru groaned. “Honey…are you alright?” Noriko asked suddenly, on the other side of the line. Kaoru clutched the phone and plopped down on the couch.
“I’m sorry, I’ve been so tired ever since Toshiya came to live here.” He said softly, rubbing his eyes. “He’s quite the popular…slut.” He added, hearing Noriko sigh on the other side.
“I know you two don’t like each other, but to show a little respect?” She asked, “Listen. He’s not perfect, you’re not perfect. We’ve been calling for hours on end these past few days. You told me yourself that he was annoyed with that fact, cause it costs you both money, splitting the phone bill equally, and it also means you don’t have time to do the chores that are listed on the fridge. From what I’ve heard from you, it’s a real mess right now.”
Kaoru nodded. “Yeah…I know. But he’s the one driving me into doing this!” He looked up when he heard a loud bonk coming from Toshiya’s room and sighed. “Ne, love, I know what you mean. It might be better if I start my chores and some school projects now. I love you so much. If it wasn’t for you, I would’ve thrown that brat out of the window the second day.”
He could hear Noriko chuckling on the other side. “I love you too. I’ll talk to you in a few days, ne? Just…be nice to each other!” She scolded before hanging up.
When the phone call had ended, he threw the receiver somewhere on the couch and lay back. “I should clean this room, it’s a fucking mess.” He said softly to himself, his eyes getting tired. And before he knew it, he was asleep on the couch, in the middle of the extremely messy room.
***
Toshiya was sitting on his bed, against the headboard, his knees pulled up to his body. His arms circled around them, trying to be as small as he could. It was morning still, and he had just come back from a class, to get a grade on his exam. The paper lay in front of him. He was so sure that he had passed. It wasn’t that hard, or so he thought. He failed it. There was a big, fat, red F on the front. He sighed. This was the umpteenth time he failed this semester. A single tear fell down his cheek. “I’m worthless.” He whispered.
He knew he had to start acing those tests, or else he would have to take the course again…and again…and again. His tears multiplied and his shoulders began to shake. ‘Why can’t I just do the fucking stupid tests? My fashion major is doing great, but all the mandatory SHIT I have to take along with that…’ His thoughts were racing and he kicked the offending test result away, only managing to move it a few centimeters, seeing as it floated back immediately.
‘Why did they have to give me the two courses that I hate most? Math and science have NOTHING to do with fashion design.’ He now openly cried and brought his head back, resulting in slamming it against the wall. “Shit…” He cursed, his hand coming up to rub the back of his head.
He could hear the faint talking of Kaoru in the other room and he knew that the man was calling his girlfriend…again. This was the second time this –day- that he had found Kaoru talking with Noriko. It wasn’t that bad, but they decided up front to always evenly split the phone costs, both not feeling like they wanted to calculate up to the penny who deserved to pay what part of the bill. Which actually made this very, very unfair.
‘He’s a fucking asshole. He calls with his girlfriend all day long, rubs his good grades in my face. And worst of all, he’s turning this room into a fucking pigsty. The kitchen is so filthy that I don’t even want to cook in there anymore.’ He thought, getting more and more frustrated every second. ‘And to think that there’s a party tonight. Maybe I should start cleaning in a bit…’ He thought, even though it was unfair that Kaoru never cleaned.
“God, my life is a complete mess.”
***
An hour or so later, Toshiya emerged from his room and looked around. ‘God…what a fucking mess.’ He thought as he walked towards the kitchen, stepping over numerous things along the way. He eyed the person asleep on the couch and scowled. “Of course you couldn’t have had the brains to maybe start cleaning?” He muttered, ignoring him further, knowing that he had to start the cleaning now, seeing as there would be a party in here later on.
When he entered the kitchen-area, he immediately went for an apron and tied a cloth around his head. “Let’s get started here.” He thought, grabbing empty garbage-bags to start filling them up with all the junk he could find on the counter and floor…
***
“So…Die, do we have everything?” Shinya asked as they pushed an overly stuffed trolley through the store. Die looked into the cart and cocked his head. “Hmm…Maybe we need more beer? There’s not –that- much, though we do have a lot of other stuff…” He was calculating in his head as to what amount they needed for the party later on.
It mostly went like this. There’d be a party, and one of their little friends-group would host it and clean up afterwards, while the other would buy the necessary drinks and food. This time, it was Die’s turn to buy, but he and Shinya decided to split the cost, making it easier on both of them to be able to pay. And of course together they’d have a slightly bigger budget to spend.
Shinya chuckled and got a few bags of potato chips and threw them in the trolley. “I really think we have enough. Kaoru and Toshiya’s dorm-room isn’t that large, so we won’t let in everyone. It’s just close friends and classmates.” He noted as he started pushing the trolley towards the cash registers.
Die came up behind him and wrapped his arms around Shinya’s waist, making it impossible for the other to walk on without stumbling together. Shinya stiffened for a second, but then relaxed against the other, leaning back. “Die…what if someone sees us?” He softly whispered, feeling the red-head’s nose buried into his hair.
Die just nuzzled the other’s head and breathed in Shinya’s scent. “Hmm…People know about us, and it’s mostly students here anyway. I just felt like hugging you. I love you.” He whispered. It made Shinya practically melt on the spot and he held the other’s arms with his own, moving back against Die. “I love you too.” He replied, closing his eyes for a few moments to just revel in the other’s presence.
After a while, Die pressed a soft kiss against Shinya’s cheek and pulled back. “You know…” He started, making Shinya tilt his head sideways. “Hmm?” He answered, unsure of what the other would say.
“I’m sorta glad that Totchi entered this school. You…mostly kept to yourself, apart from us you didn’t really have any really good friends. But it seems like Toshiya has become a good friend to you.” He started, hoping Shinya wouldn’t feel offended with what he said, since that surely wasn’t what he intended by this. “And I’m glad you found such a nice friend, even though he sometimes tires you out with his endless talking.” He chuckled, grabbing Shinya’s hand and giving it a small squeeze before motioning for the cash register.
Shinya smiled and followed Die. ‘He’s so cuuuute!’ He squealed in his head, loving the way his lover could get slightly worried about him being to himself with not many friends. “Don’t worry about me, ne?” He started, “I’m glad I have a friend like Totchi, but the fact that I didn’t have much friends before he came here was completely my own choice. I guess I’m a bit of a loner, right?” He said, pressing a kiss to Die’s cheek as they stood in line for the cash-register.
***
About two hours later, Toshiya had successfully filled up three garbage bags with junk and left-over food, which…wasn’t really identifiable anymore. He had cleaned the whole kitchen-area, which was now spotless and blinking. And he had gotten out the vacuum cleaner that he hadn’t returned to Die yet.
He plugged it in and turned it on, starting to vacuum the living area thoroughly, completely ignoring Kaoru, who was still asleep on the couch. He could hear crumbs and other stuff rattle up the vacuum-cleaner and he sighed. It was way too messy in here… He didn’t, however, hear Kaoru wake up, seeing as he was way too busy with vacuuming.
Kaoru groaned and slowly opened his eyes, annoyed by whatever woke him up. He groaned and smacked his mouth a bit as he tried to focus on the noise and whatever was causing it. It took him a while to process that he was on the couch and that Toshiya was the one moving around. “Huh?” He muttered, shaking his head slightly, trying to get the drowsiness away. When he looked around the room, he was presented with Toshiya’s ass swaying around as he held the vacuum cleaner and was thoroughly vacuuming the whole room.
The boy was wearing a skirt again, and Kaoru had a hard-time not looking at it, as the cloth moved slightly every time, revealing those supple thighs. He groaned again and fell back. “Damn him and his womanly figure.” He muttered, knowing Toshiya won’t be able to hear what he said anyway.
Toshiya however did realize the other had woken up and he turned around after he tapped the power-button on the vacuum cleaner with his foot. The noise died and he smirked at Kaoru. “Hey there, sleepy-head.” He said with a smile, at least trying to be sort of nice to the other. “Did I wake you up?” He asked, pouting slightly.
Kaoru blinked. Why is he so nice? He thought, not quite getting the other’s behaviour, but not knowing, even though he was highly annoyed with the other, he should be nice as well. “Hmm yeah, but it’s OK. I fell asleep while it was actually me who should’ve been cleaning this mess.” He muttered, blushing slightly.
Toshiya smiled and sat down on a chair. “Hmm…I don’t really mind. Cleaning takes my mind off other stuff.” He softly said with a sigh. This made Kaoru raise a brow. The blue-haired youth seemed kind of sad, but he didn’t want to ask any further, feeling as it was not his business to meddle.
“Tell you what…” Toshiya started, breaking the silence between them. “I’ll finish the vacuuming the living room, while you start dinner. We need to hurry up a bit, it’s now 6pm, and in about half an hour, Shinya and Die will show up with the drinks for the party, remember?” He noted as he straightened his skirt and stood up again.
“Ah…yes,” Kaoru said, almost forgetting about that party. “Would you be willing to trade? I mean, that I vacuum the rest and you make dinner? I sorta…like your cooking. And I’ll clean up the kitchen for you, as a bonus and apology for not cleaning all of this myself.” He said, a faint blush staining his cheeks again.
Toshiya blinked. He knew they were being exceptionally nice towards each other right now, without proper reason, but this was more than he expected from the other. “Ah…yes of course.” He said with a wink. “Any preferences for dinner then?”
Kaoru thought for a while as he stood up and stroke a hand through his messy hair. “Hmm…something easy and quick would be handy. Italian?” He asked hopefully. He didn’t eat it that often, mainly because he only knew how to cook ramen and rice, but he really loved Italian food.
Toshiya smiled and nodded. “Ok! I’ll start something then. I bought some pasta when I went grocery shopping last week, so it shouldn’t be a problem.” He walked into the kitchenette and immediately started rummaging through cupboards, getting the various ingredients and utensils together.
***
Not half an hour later, Kaoru and Toshiya were both sitting on the couch, enjoying their dinner. They were aimlessly watching some soap opera which they both enjoyed every once in a while, munching away on their food. “Hmm…Toshiya-kun, this tastes so good, where the hell did you learn to cook like this?!” He said, his mouth stuffed with the ‘Macaroni Salmone’ Toshiya had thrown together.
“Hmm…well…As you might know, my dad’s very rich. I spent lots of time with the staff of the kitchen in our mansion when I was younger, cause it was kinda boring on my own in such a large house.” He blushed, bowing his head down. He always felt like some rich brat when he told people about how he grew up.
“Ah…ok.” Kaoru responded, being quiet for a while. He didn’t quite know how to react to that, he had expected that it would just be a hobby. The silence between them was a bit thick now, thinking of something to say. “I…I might not know how it is to live in a mansion with staff serving you, but I know what you mean about being alone.” He then said, seeing it only fair to talk about his childhood when the other so openly confessed he used to be alone a lot.
“We lived in an average sized house, the one with a white picket fence, so to say. But both my parents worked a lot, so I spent most my time alone in my room, listening to music, doing my homework and stuff like that.” He told the other in between bites.
Toshiya lifted his head and smiled. “Yeah, that sounds like me. I’m sorry, though, if I came over as a brat, telling you about a mansion and such. Every time I have to mention my family and the way I grew up, I feel like such a rich kid.” He mumbled, finishing his plate of food.
Kaoru looked at him and tilted his head slightly to the side. “Well…you can’t help the way you grew up, right? It’s the same as growing up poor. You didn’t do that, your parents made that foundation. So even though it might sound bratty to you, to me it sounds like you were lucky, ne?” He chuckled. “At least on the money-front.” He added, “Being lonely is never fun, rich or poor.”
Before Toshiya could react in any way to Kaoru’s statement, there was a soft knock on the door. “Ah!” Toshiya said surprised as he set his empty plate down and walked towards the door.
He swung open the door and smiled at the two lovers standing there before him, a janitors cart behind them, stacked with lots and lots of alcohol. “Whoa…that sure is a –lot- of booze.” Toshiya exclaimed, quickly moving aside for the two to roll the cart in. “We asked the janitor for a cart and permission to use the service elevator. Of course he thought we wanted to move a new piece of furniture upstairs.” Die chuckled as he pushed the cart inside, several bottles clinging against each other, making soft noises.
“Where shall we put it? The janitor wanted his cart back right after, so we can’t just leave it on here.” Shinya asked, looking around for a suitable place. Toshiya came up to them and thought for a while. “It might be best to stack the crates of beer on the ground and put the bottles of liquor on the kitchen counter. What do you think, Kaoru-kun?”
Two pairs of eyes immediately sprung back and forth between Kaoru and Toshiya. ‘Since when do they even talk?’ Shinya asked himself. He immediately grabbed Die’s hand and squeezed it, showing his excitement as to how the two got along.
Kaoru stood up and thought about the situation. “Hmm, yes, lets do that. Let me help you.” He said as he started helping Toshiya unload the cart and put the various bottles on the counter.
Die and Shinya stood dumbfounded, not able to utter any word as they watched the two smile and help each other stack the bottles on the kitchen counter. “Hey…are you two just gonna stand there? Cause we could surely use some help!” Kaoru said, raising a brow at the two figures standing there.
Die shook out of his trance and released Shinya’s hand, starting to help stacking up a few crates of beer against the counter, making sure people would still be able to pass it. Shinya focused on the others again and walked over to Toshiya. “Is there anything else that needs to be stacked up here?” He asked the other, wanting to help as well.
Toshiya stood up and stretched, cracking his back. “Ouch, yeah, if you don’t mind. Over there,” He pointed next to the fridge, where two smaller crates were stacked on top of each other. “is the soda, if you’d please unload the first crate onto the counter. It should be enough for now.” He smiled.
Shinya nodded and walked over to the small crate. It held six bottles, so it wasn’t that much of work. In fact, only a minute or so later, they were done unloading the cart and Shinya and Die stood next to each other, the cart turned around to wheel it out again.
Kaoru smiled and nodded. “You’ll probably have much to do before the party, including bringing that thing back to the janitor. So I’ll leave you to it. Thanks for the help!” He said. Toshiya gave Shinya a hug and smiled. “See you at the party!” He exclaimed, helping Die and Shinya outside with the cart.
Kaoru sat down on the couch and grabbed his pack of cigarettes, which lay on the table. He carefully lit one and sat back, closing his eyes and relaxing completely. Toshiya walked in again and eyed the other, letting out a small chuckle. “Can I bum one?” He asked, looking curiously at him. Kaoru nodded without opening his eyes. He felt the couch dent where Toshiya sat down and he heard the flick of the lighter as he lit his cigarette. He could hear the other’s sigh. “I don’t think I can move another muscle for the next half an hour.” He said jokingly, kind of worn out from dragging around so many bottles.
Kaoru laughed softly and took a long drag from the cylinder in between his fingers. “Hmm, people won’t show up until eight anyway, which would be in about…and hour and 15 minutes.” He sighed, going over the check-list in his mind, hoping they didn’t forget anything in particular. He concluded they didn’t, so he relaxed again.
Toshiya sighed again. “I should go and get ready in a bit, are you going to use the shower? Cause if you do…you might want to go in there first. I’ll be taking a while.” He said, knowing he was able to take hours in the shower. And seeing as that they had fought countless times before about this subject in the past weeks, he was smart enough to avoid it tonight.
“Hmm, yeah. Thanks.” Kaoru said with a slight smile as he stood up and excused himself, pressing out the cigarette, or what was left over from it, into the ashtray.
***
The party was on at full blast and everybody seemed to be having a great time. Toshiya looked his elegant self with a leather skirt and tight-fitting, red, sleeveless shirt on. He was laughing and chatting away with various people before hopping over to his roommate. “Tell me, Kao-kao. Is there any news?” He hiccupped, giggling insanely as he sat down on the purple-headed’s lap.
Kaoru’s eyes widened in shock, but he laughed it off. “Toshiya, you sure had a lot to drink, didn’t you?” He chuckled and looked at Die and Shinya who were sitting there. Die had a giant smiled plastered on his face and Shinya chuckled behind his hand at the blue-head.
Kyo was sitting on a chair next to Kaoru and laughed at Toshiya’s antics, poking him in the side. “Hey Totch! I tried to call you this afternoon, but it seemed like you were already busy on the phone!” He said excitedly, poking the other some more, making him wriggle and move around on Kaoru’s lap, who had a hard time not letting him crash to the floor.
“Hmm…I think…” He slurred, taking a large sip from the bright-red liquor he had in his glass, “I think it was Kaoru…who was phoning his cute girlfriend.” He chuckled, turning to face Kaoru and smiling broadly at him.
That statement actually sort of fell the wrong way with the other and he huffed. “I wasn’t calling her all afternoon, so please. You’re getting kinda heavy, Toshiya. Could you sit down on the couch?” He asked politely, pretending nothing was wrong.
Toshiya pouted and poked Kaoru in the nose. “Mou, Kaoru, how are you ever going to find a cute boyfriend if you can’t even keep him on your lap for longer than two minutes?” He stood up and walked over to Kyo. “Can I sit on you?” He asked with a pout and faked watery eyes.
Kaoru had pretended not to hear that comment and brushed it off as some drunken boy’s ramble. He, however, watched the display next to him as Toshiya planted himself on Kyo’s lap, laying his face on the blonde’s shoulder, nuzzling his neck. “Hmm…I forgot how great you smell, Kyo.” He said softly to him, knowing nobody else had heard him.
Kyo chuckled and held on to Toshiya. Even though they weren’t attracted to each other in that way, and the making out had been a mistake, they still liked to fool around. And the fooling part was just what they did. Kaoru was angrily watching them. What the hell do they think they’re doing?!?! He raged on in his mind, not being able to stand the two being so damn mushy and sticky. He coughed and turned to Die and Shinya. “So, tell me something, anything that will actually distract me from those two. That’s just horrible.” He said casually, making Die and Shinya blankly stare at him and sweatdrop.
***
About an hour later, Toshiya was dancing somewhere in the crowd, most likely attracting lots of guys. Kyo had left him there for a while as he needed something to drink. When he was actually at the kitchen-counter, pouring a bit of coke into a plastic cup, his eye fell one something, or rather, someone.
There was a boy standing near a plant in the corner, looking rather lost at the audience. He had longish brown hair, a well-built body and an extremely cute face. And at the moment he was just staring at the small mass of people dancing. Kyo couldn’t help but grin wickedly as he poured in another cup with something to drink. However, the second cup contained alcohol. He’s mine. He thought and he made his way towards the boy standing there.
“Hey there. I couldn’t help but notice you, and you seem rather lost. Would you like something to drink?” He asked suave, holding out the cup towards the other, who could only blink and look at the blonde haired boy with a frown. “Hai.” Was the only thing that actually came out as the boy took the cup, taking a small sip from it. Then he continued watching the crowd. Kyo frowned. This was certainly one weird guy. Normally he’d just have to say that and he had made his catch, making sure to get a good lay for the night. But this guy…didn’t even properly introduce himself. Hell, he didn’t even tell him to get lost!
“So…” Kyo continued, not willing to give up until he was actually –told- to get lost. “I can’t say I have seen you before on campus. Are you new?”
The other looked at the blonde again with a questioning face. He was quiet for a while, seemingly in thought. “Jal morugessumnida.” He then said with a smile. Kyo paled. What the hell?
He did recognize the language though and he now got why the hell the guy didn’t respond like a normal guy would. “You’re Korean!” he exclaimed, pointing at him. That made the brown-haired boy look at him with a face of understanding. Apparantly he had understood what he said. “Hai!” He said again.
Kyo’s eyes began to sparkle as he looked the other up and down. He had run into a bout of good luck! The boy was perfect. From the way his clothes ran snug around his body to the way he licked those wonderfully full, pouty lips every once in a while. He wasn’t sure what to say to the other, because he wasn’t sure how much he understood of the Japanese language. He must be some sort of an exchange student… He wondered.
“Watashi wa JaeJoong desu.” Kyo looked up and smiled at the boy and his extremely thick accent of the sentence, that seemed way too rehearsed.
“Annyong ha shimnikka.” Kyo started, still remembering the Korean word for ‘hello’. “Watashi wa Kyo desu.” He said slowly, pronunciation every syllable, like he was talking to a deaf person. The exchange-student’s face immediately lightened, smiling at the other’s attempt to communicate.
Kyo knew that he couldn’t let go of this fine of a catch. Such innocence to take advantage of! He thought happily, grabbing JaeJoong’s wrist. “Come with me.” He said slowly, accentuating with his hands towards the door. “It’s way too crowdy in here and I want to get to know you better, ne?” He said, pretending like the other had a clue on what he was talking about.
The brown-haired boy seemed sort of surprised and blinked. “Uhh….Hai! Watashi wa JaeJoong!” He then said again with a bright smile, completely in the dark as to what he was getting himself into. “Oh yeah, little boy, I’m going to have so much fun with you!” He said, giving him a bright smile again, completely not matching what he just said. But it didn’t matter anyway, seeing as the Korean guy didn’t even have the slightest hint as to what the blonde was saying.
Kyo chuckled evilly inside his head. Oh yeah, this would certainly be entertaining.
