Note: This chapter features a lot of Murdoc ramblings. It’s my own take on him and all this could be considered OOC. -_- Because I fail at life… Durr this whole chapter fails at life. But my muse is dying so this was the best I could do. ;__; Feel free to throw out plotline suggestions if you have any.

Chapter 5: Pain
--..--..--
Murdoc wasn’t the cold-hearted, emotionless monster that a lot of people claimed him to be. He was human and he felt sadness, despair, loneliness and pain, but just because he chose to ignore and hide those feelings didn’t make him any more or less of a man. It was just who he was. He couldn’t say his childhood was painful, but it did play a part in making him the Murdoc everyone knew. He lost his virginity at a very young age, but at the time was too ashamed to tell anyone. After then, he chose to hide everything. And it was all fine, until recently.
Murdoc was rather depressed, in secret. He was in pain. He was far past the prime of his life and the only reason girls were still after him was because he was a celebrity. When you’ve spent your life living like everyday is some wild party, eventually you get tired of it. You begin to long for something to remain constant. The band was the closest Murdoc ever had to a real family, dysfunction and all. He would never say it out loud, but it would kill him to lose them now. Russel was always on his case, and acted as though he was his father…or mother. Noodle the only female Murdoc spent time around that he didn’t want to fuck. Not because of her age, but because she was like his little sister. Though, he spent countless hours trying to corrupt her young mind (much to Russel’s dismay). He loved how innocent she was. And 2D….
The boy was getting under his skin and the bassist was trying to keep him out. In the beginning he truly hated him. But over time, he grew to tolerate him. And now…
Murdoc hated the idea of romantic relationships, and 2D didn’t change his opinion. But the bassist found himself wanting something more in the relationship he had with his band mate. He hated all that romantic cuddling and shit, but he loved feeling close to the boy. He loved it when 2D clung to him while he was moaning his name.
A soft, sleepy yawn came from his right. Both of them had just been laying there staring at wall and ceiling since their earlier encounter. It was far into the night, pretty close to morning.
2D still ached all over. Not just physically but emotionally as well. He wanted to feel close to his lover. Sure, they were laying together naked in each others arms right now, but the singer wanted to hear Murdoc say that he cared for him. Just so he wouldn’t feel like the sex slave he was.
“Tired?” Murdoc said. It was stating the obvious, but the silence was getting annoying.
“Yeah.” 2D yawned again. Murdoc leaned in and licked a long streak up the boy’s arm. 2D shivered.
“You should take the next few days off.” The bassist stated.
“Huh?” 2D was confused. “Take days off from what?”
“From fucking.” Murdoc grinned. “I’m growing bored of it and you’re losing energy and making it less fun. So go what you want for a while and maybe I’ll look you up when I get horny.” It was a lie. Murdoc in truth was worried for 2D’s emotional health, which had rapidly gone downhill even more in just a few hours.
2D’s heart sank. So there wasn’t anything more. It was just sex. He resisted the urge to cry at that moment, not feeling this betrayed since the Paula incident.
“Whatever…” Came the singer’s reply. He sat up.
“Where’re you going?” Murdoc raised an eyebrow.
“I need to go think.”
The bassist said nothing as he watched his lover exit the Winnebago. Suddenly, a phone rang and Murdoc picked it up.
"Hello?"
Morning had come and gone and it was now afternoon. 2D had been sulking in his room before he finally exited it to use the washroom. While he was washing his hands, Russel came in.
“Hey there.” 2D called. Russel glared at him. The singer blinked. “What?”
“I am very disappointed in you, man.”
“Huh?”
“I know what’s going on, D. I know that you and Muds have been screwing around.”
“Oh…” 2D lowered his head. Crap.
“Now look, it’s none of my business what goes on between you guys when the doors are closed, but, in case you didn’t know, there’s a certain girl who you’ve been neglecting.” Russel glared even harder and was standing very close to 2D, getting in his face.
“A girl?” The singer gulped.
“For god’s sakes, it’s Noodle! You’ve been hurting Noodle. She cares for you, man, and you’ve been ignoring her. I don't know what you did, but it‘s almost like you broke her heart!”
Noodle…oh no. Was it really him that caused her to be sad? But why? Why would she be sad while he was with Mur…well shit. 2D brought a palm up to slam his face against. How could he have been so stupid!
“She still waits for you on the roof every night.” Russel continued “She waits for you while you go fuck with Murdoc down in the Carpark.”
“I’m…sorry.”
“I’m not the one you should be sorry to. Now you better get this mess straightened out or else I'll have to get involved.” The drummer glared a warning at him, and then left the bathroom.
2D just stood there, staring at the ground. His heart was in so much pain. Russel knew about his ‘relationship’ with Murdoc, and Noodle probably did too. He really had been neglecting her.
Nightfall came and 2D hesitantly made his way up to the roof of Kong Studios. The stars were out and the moon seemed brighter than usual. Just as he’d hoped, Noodle was there, sitting quietly and humming to herself.
“Noodle.” 2D said softly. Noodle flinched.
“2D.” She didn’t turn to face him.
“I’m sorry that I hurt you, Hun. I…I guess I got too caught up in…everything.”
Her head turned and he could see her face. She smiled a little at him.
“No, I am the sorry one. I selfishly hoped that…perhaps…you could…uh... Because I…” She bit her lip. It was just too hard to say out loud. It was wrong for her to even like him in the first place. Did he like her back? Even just a little? She was afraid of the answers to those questions. Part of her mind would rather not know the answers, while another part was searching for them desperately. 2D sat next to her on the ground and pulled her to lean into his chest.
“I’ll always care about you, Hun. Nothing’s ever gonna change that. But…”
“But…?” Noodle raised her head to meet his eyes. He looked at her seriously and with concern.
“Why…didn’t you tell me that you liked Murdoc? I mean, it‘s just wrong! He‘s nearly four times your age!” Not to mention, 2D could never allow her to be treated the same way he was being treated.
Noodle’s eyes widened and her mouth gaped open. What…did he think she liked MURDOC? Her soul was suddenly filled with rage. Why? Even she didn’t know. It just made her so mad.
“BAKA!” She choked, stood up then left, cursing at him in Japanese. Was he really that dense? How could he even get the idea that she liked that…that…disgusting man! That vile monster that was doing bad things to her poor 2D…
“Wha…ah…Noodle wait!” 2D called out. He didn’t understand why it was making her this upset. He ran as fast as his thin legs could take him. He caught up to her just before she was able to close the door. He held it open with his weak strength.
He looked at her. She was frowning at him but her eyes looked as though she was waiting for him to say something.
“What did I do wrong?”
The door was promptly slammed in his face.
