Chapter 5

The first thing Shinya noticed when he woke up was how bright and white everything was. It hurt to keep his eyes open so he allowed them to slide closed once more. He could hear beeps and buzzes but from what he wasn’t sure. Then the sharp smell of disinfect hit his nose. ‘Where am I? What happened?’ It was at that moment that his memories came rushing back. ‘I was raped on my way home. Then I finally made home. And Kyo came over… oh Kami, Kyo saw me. What am I going to do I should explain things to him… But I don’t want him to hate or pity me. How can I tell him without him freaking out?’ “Kyo,” Shinya half moaned he didn’t realize he had said anything out loud.

“Shinya? Are you awake? I’m right here, I told you I wasn’t going to leave you and I didn’t.” When the blonde man didn’t get a response he started to think he had dreamed his Shinya waking up. Until the drummer started trying to move. “Shinya? Please open your eyes I need to see them… I need to see you awake. On second though just stay right here I’ll go get a nurse,” Kyo ran out of the room and down the hall yelling for Tamae. When he found her he dragged her back to Shinya’s room while telling the woman what had happened.

When Tamae got to Shinya’s room she preceded to check his vital signs, first by looking at the machines, then physically. When she touched the prone man he reacted badly. First he attempted to scoot away from the touch; when he couldn’t he tried to curl up into a ball, which was difficult and painful. Tamae didn’t touch him again for fear of sending him into an even deeper panic. “Shin-chan, calm down. No one here is going to hurt you.” Kyo words had an almost immediate effect on him. He stopped moving and just lay there but when Tamae got close to him again he started to whimper.

“What’s wrong with him?” Kyo moved to the bedside, carefully he reached out to absentmindedly stroke the young man’s hair. When the drummer didn’t react he continued his actions. “Why does he react so badly to your touch?… Wait…Why isn’t he reacting to my touch?” the blond man asked when he realized just what he was doing.

“I think it might have to do with the fact he doesn’t know me, but you on the other hand are familiar and therefore safe. It’s not that uncommon in cases like this. Victims of rape by strangers tend to be wary of all strangers. The most extreme case I’ve seen the people refuse to let anyone they didn’t know around them. They would scream and cry if anyone but friends and family came anywhere near them. Then there are people who will tense up just a little… Maybe if you stay touching I can check his health without sedating him. I’m fearful to give him to much medicine, no matter how much good they do they are still drugs and he doesn’t need an addiction on top of everything else.”

“Well I can try. If you think it will help him I’ll do pretty much anything. Just tell me what to do”

“Just stay there petting him or hold his hand, you may need to talk to him. The sound of your voice had a very positive effect on him.” Tamae was able to do the rest of her checks while Kyo held Shinya’s hand and said anything he could think of.

He told Shinya how everyone was worried about him, and how practice would be withheld until he felt up to it. “And Shinya I need you to decide something. The doctor said you need to move in with someone… I volunteered to be the one. So would you rather live in my apartment or yours?” when he didn’t get an answer he looked down to notice the auburn hair man had gone to sleep. What Kyo hadn’t noticed was just how well a grip the other had him. Somehow he had turned so he could hold on to Kyo’s hand with both of his. When the vocalist tried to walk over to the door he found he couldn’t. The more the blond man struggled to get his hand back the tighter the grip got. When he looked at Tamae for help she just smiled at him and brought the chair over for him to sit down. She left the room chuckling and shaking her head and went to call the other members of the band.

GOMEN >.< That took so long and it’s short to AHHHHH… well honestly I didn’t spend the whole time writing I couldn’t. First I went to the Dallas Family Values show and before that I was at my friends house, then I went to Kattfest where they were playing again, and then I kept going over to another friend’s house. And I got to shake hands with three members of the band. Toshiya, Kaoru and Die *Die twice* Sooo yeah and then I kept getting stuck on parts. And I’m having a bit of trouble finding a computer that lets me on aff… the ones at the public library here block the site and when I’m over at my friend’s house I don’t really have time.

Toshiya was mentioned before in this story… he was in the room with Kaoru where he had a conversation with Kyo. The he said something about Shinya being able to walk through anything. He asked how Shinya could get so hurt and he punched he doctor out. See he’s in the story. I know I kinda wrote him and Kaoru out I’ll try to bring them in more… but please remember this story is mostly about Shinya and Kyo.

Thank you all for sticking with me and not hunting me down for not updating. I will try to update ASAP. Once more thank you.
