Cara woke up and rolled over with a groan. She had a pounding headache and didn’t know why. Normally if she were to go to bed with a headache, it would be gone by morning, so this was a bit confusing. She absently pushed the hair back out of her face before rummaging around on her desk and finding a hair band to pull it back into a loose ponytail to keep from aggravating her headache even more. After taking a few moments to distinguish where she was and such, she went to the door and opened it, jumping backwards as Frank fell backwards into the doorway, his head hitting the floor with a thud.
Frank woke up with a crash and for a second forgot where he was and what had happened. Although when he opened his eyes and saw Cara standing over him looking both worried and highly upset, he remembered. “Cara, listen to me, I didn’t do that because I’m some weird sort of freak or such, I was just worried about you. After you ran off last night, I could tell something was wrong, and so I gave you your distance. But when I was going to bed myself, I could hear you mumbling and crying in your sleep.” Frank stood and walked the few steps between them and ran his hand along the side of her face. “You don’t know how hard it was for me to sit outside your door and hear you crying and not rush in here and pull you into my arms to comfort you. But I wanted to respect your privacy and space. Penguin, are you okay?”
The look of worry and sadness in Frank’s eyes melted Cara’s heart even more and she laid her head against his chest, Frank’s arms automatically wrapping around her. It was a bittersweet moment for him because he couldn’t help himself in wanting more than just friendship with Cara, but at the same time, he knew it was unrealistic to expect anything more than friendship. The feel of holding Cara in his arms just felt right to him and the scent of her shampoo was almost intoxicating. He knew that given the fact that they were both standing in their pajamas, which was never much of clothing in the first place, that one of them would need to break the embrace before things got embarrassing for him.
“Frankie, I’m sorry. I don’t know what was wrong with me last night. I could have sworn that I was hearing my mother’s voice and some of the things she was saying ... I don’t want to even think about them again. Are you upset with me?” Cara looked up into Frank’s eyes, pleading that she hadn’t upset him last night. Although of course she knew that if Frank was upset with her, he would simply pretend it was nothing, but she had always been able to see the truth in him, particularly when arguing.
The urge to kiss Cara was so strong that Frank found himself actually leaning his head down towards hers, catching himself only inches from her lips. He just lingered there for a moment, unsure of what to do now that he had come so close to possibly starting another fight with Cara over the relationship issue. “Never, Cara.” Frank whispered the reassurance before he found himself kissing Cara, pulling her even closer to him.
Cara’s arms instinctively went around Frank’s neck as she returned the kiss, throwing her rule of being impartial with her roommates out of the window for the time being. She had known that things with Frank were different, but she had also known that Mikey would be hurt if she showed feelings for another guy as he thought himself to be her personal protector. So she had made her rule to stay neutral with her roommates. But this seemed to merit a bend in the rule. It was just a kiss, right?
But soon enough, Cara could tell that it wasn’t just a kiss. Frank’s hands moved up to cup her face as he pulled back, putting a bit of space between them, a pink blush tinting his cheeks. “Oh my god, Cara, I’m so sorry. I don’t know what made me do that. God, I don’t know if it was even me that did that.” Frank turned pacing as he rambled on and on apologizing multiple times. Cara moved and caught him with just the lightest touch on his arm, frowning slightly at the look on his face.
“Frankie, stop it. Besides, you have nothing to apologize for. I’ve known that was bound to happen since I moved in.” Cara shook her head with a laugh at the look of stunned shock on Frank’s face at the admittance. She took his hands and put them around her waist and stepped closer to him, trying not to acknowledge the bulge in Frank’s boxers. “Anyways, I never said it was unwanted attention.” With that, Cara slid her arms up Frank’s bare chest and around his neck, pulling him down and kissing him on the lips.
Frank thought he had gone insane, or was still dreaming, when he heard Cara’s words. His jaw dropped just a fraction when she pulled him to her, barely able to recover to return the kiss. He could feel himself getting even more antsy, but didn’t want to just throw her down and go at it like wild animals, despite the growing demands of his body for just that sort of a thing. “Cara, are you absolutely sure about this, because I would love to say that I’ll stop for you if you have second thoughts. But honestly I want you so bad that I’m running a serious risk of rape charges.”
Cara’s laughter sent goosebumps over his skin. “Frankie, just shut the fuck up with your complicated words.” Cara pulled him roughly to her again, this time her tongue dueling with his own. A moment later, she lost her breath as Frank threw her back on her bed, almost instantly joining her just mere inches over her. His hands quickly found the waistband of her underwear and made easy work of them before starting up on the tank top that she was wearing. His hands skimmed over her body, almost not even touching her skin, teasing her with his own slowness.
She huffed in exasperation before reaching up to yank the boxers he was wearing down, leaving them both naked as the day they were born. Frank was instantly on top of her, his mouth clamped down on her own, barely breaking for air. Cara’s hands roamed down his back and found their way down to his manhood and as soon as she skimmed her fingers over him, Frank shivered with a small groan of pleasure. Cara’s lips spread to a taunting smirk before repeating the process with a similar reaction.
“Damnit Cara, you’re playing with fire and about to get burned.” Frank’s voice had dropped an octave and was raspy and thick. His face was even more flushed than before, and he kissed Cara deeply in attempts to make her forget herself. But she merely continued her teasing assault with a smug grin on her face whenever they broke the kiss to breathe.
Frank grabbed Cara’s arms and pinned them up above her head easily with one hand, the other skimming over her skin and resting on the mountain of curls with a hint of danger and revenge in his eyes. If she hadn’t known Frank for years, Cara might have been frightened by that look. Frank teasingly moved his fingers over her opening with a devilish grin on his face. “Burning time, darling. Revenge is sweet, don’t you think? Now I’m going to have a little fun with you.”
Cara suddenly felt the pressure pushing up against her, and bit her bottom lip, waiting for the pain that she had known would come with it. But perhaps that small pain would be better than the insane crazy feeling that made her like she would explode from the inside out. She didn’t know what to expect but the sharp rush of pain through her insides took her breath and she had to bite down on her bottom lip to keep from screaming. She opened her eyes, and saw Frank staring down at her with a look that scared her. His eyes were more yellow than green, more animal than human, and quite frankly they scared the shit out of her. “Frankie?”
Frank leaned down and kissed her, not giving her any more room for objections. As he kissed her, he slowly started a rhythm with his hips that very quickly sped up to an almost painful bombardment. It seemed like the pain of the initial impact was being repeated every thrust, and yet Cara quickly found herself clawing at Frank’s back, on the verge of what she was positive was insanity.
“WHAT IN THE HELL IS GOING ON?!”
Frank almost didn’t hear the roared question from the door, which neither of them had realized was still open, but growled and turned to see a highly upset Mikey staring at them from the doorway. He didn’t bother covering himself or Cara, or even to pull himself to at least some shred of semblance of decency, but just lay there glaring daggers at Mikey. “Well it would obviously seem like we’re having sex. Why? Have you never seen it? I don’t mind the audience, but I don’t know if Cara would like to have an audience while she finishes up her first time.”
All color drained from Mikey’s face, and Cara felt bad for him. She had suspected that her friend might have some feelings for her, but his reaction more than proved it. She ran a hand over her face and sighed putting her hand over Frank’s mouth. “Shut up, asshole. Mikey ... well, I don’t know what to say ...”
Mikey threw his hands up in the air, very obviously still highly upset over the entire situation. “Don’t say anything, Cara. But I just thought you might like to know that your friend from high school, Ray, is downstairs in the living room right now. He said something about wanting to check on you before he had some out of town business trip. He also mentioned something about your date this weekend. My God, Cara, you’re turning out to be worse than Liberty!” Mikey spun around and Cara could hear him stomping down the stairs and out the front door with a loud slam before hearing the sound of his car starting and peeling out of the driveway.
Cara turned her attention back to Frank, who was staring down at her with a look that she couldn’t quite place, but it was still a little creepy to see his normally teasing eyes looking so hazy. She leaned up and kissed him, before quickly pulling back with a hand on his chest in warning. “Rain check, Frankie. Let me go see what Ray is here for. ... And how the bastard even got my address.”
Frank seemed to pause for a moment before finally pulling himself away from Cara and letting her get up out of the bed, although now with a small throbbing in the pits of her abdomen and thighs. She grabbed a pair of jeans and t-shirt before heading to the bathroom for a quick shower but not before she stopped at the top of the stairs. “I’ll be down in a minute, Ray.”
Cara heard Ray’s muffled response from the living room, but wasn’t really in much of a mood to care at the moment. She hopped in the shower and made quick work of cleaning herself off and pulled on the jeans and t-shirt after drying herself and headed downstairs, coming face to face with what looked like a staring contest between two lions. Great, just what she needed, from being stuck between a rock and a hard place to being thrown into the lions’ den without a safety net. She gave Ray a smile, and turned to Frank who seemed to be trying to kill Ray with a mere glance. “So, what brings you to West Cran, and how the fuck did you know where I live?” Cara crossed her arms across her chest as she asked Ray the question that had pestered her throughout her shower.
“Oh, hey, Cara. Um, I hope I wasn’t interrupting. ... I was just passing through on the way to a business conference down in Harkings and I thought I would stop for a visit. ... Janie told me your address. ... It’s a nice place you have here.” Ray was nearly squirming at the seeming interrogation. He had already survived one today when he had dropped by to see Janie to ask about Cara, and he wasn’t fond of being interrogated like a crime suspect.
At Ray’s answer as to how he knew where she lived, Cara stomped a foot with a curse. “Damnit Janie, interfering little bitch child.” Ray gasped as he heard the curses about Cara’s sister. After all, before they had always been on fairly decent terms with each other. Cara recognized the look of shock on Ray’s face as she said that, and pointed to him with a frown. “Don’t you say a word, Raymond.”
The use of his full first name was obviously a sign that things were in hot water, and so Ray merely shook his head and stayed his distance from both Cara, who seemed about ready to kill everyone, and Frank, who looked as if he merely wanted to kill Ray in several horrible and excruciatingly slow manners. “Um, I think I’ve inadvertedly picked a bad time, so I think I’ll just go and maybe try to drop by another time, this time with a call beforehand. Bye, Cara.” Ray walked over and gave her a one-armed hug and left a kiss on her forehead before leaving himself.
Cara turned her attention back to Frank who was over in one of the corners, looking both shocked and disappointed mixed with a lot of angry. She sighed, wondering if guys could have PMS, because these last three were certainly pushing the envelop towards the ‘yes’ answer. “What, Frankie?”
Frank shook his head and started off towards the kitchen. But before he could walk past Cara, she grabbed his arm, and within the blink of an eye, she found herself lying on her back on the floor, glad there was carpeting thick enough in the living room that the impact only left a small throb in her head. Frank was crouched over top of her, his face mere inches from her own.
“I warned you that I was close to rape charges, Cara. Our lovesick roommate and some asshole high school ex are not going to stop me. So you should probably get out of those jeans before I take them off forever.” Frank quickly pulled off his own pants that he had slid on while Ray was there.
Cara, despite knowing that curiosity killed the cat, was still a little curious as to the entire action of sex, so she was a little loathe to disagree with one of her only friends that she would actually think about having sex with. She pulled her jeans off and did the same with her shirt, now once again lying naked with Frank. As soon as she was finished pulling off her clothes, Cara grabbed Frank around the neck and pulled him down to her, stopping just a hairsbreath from his lips. “No interruptions this time, because if someone does, it will be their worst nightmare.”
Frank didn’t waste any time in getting back to what they had been in the process of doing before they had been interrupted first with Mikey’s outburst. “Such a smart girl.” And with that, Frank slammed into her again, restarting the fast and frantic pace.
