Yea, so i thought i had put what grade they're in somewhere in there, but i had only put that they were upperclassmen, but yea, it's their senior year. and i know, if u think about it, you'll ask how they're in the same grade because in reality kelly's about eleven months older than carrie, but this is not reality, lol, so i decided to push carrie's birthday up a year, so now she's a month older than kelly. i just figured that it wouldn't be too believable if i said she had skipped a grade. not that she's dumb, she actually seems pretty smart, she just has quite a few "moments", lol. so anyway, enojoy!

"So, you said you moved around a lot?" Carrie asked as she pulled her volkswagen out of the parking lot.
Kelly nodded, "Yea, when I was younger. Go right."
Carrie waited for the Texan to elaborate, but she didn't.
"This is my first time moving," Carrie admitted.
"Don't worry in a week or so, they'll just look at you as they do everybody else," Kelly replied. "Turn left right here."
"So, um, what's there to do around here?"
"Normal stuff. There's a movie theater and a couple bars. Um, there's a mall about twenty minutes out. You can just pull up right here."
Carrie did as she was told, slowing the car to a stop.
"I would invite you up," Kelly gave an apologetic smile. "But my mom doesn't like me having people she doesn't know over when she's not home."
"That's fine," Carrie replied. "I've got a lot of stuff I still need to unpack and whatnot."
"Ok, well, thanks for the ride," Kelly said, getting out of the car and grabbing her bag.
Carrie rolled down her window as Kelly walked in front of the car, "Do you want a ride to school tomorrow?"
"Huh? No, I'm fine," Kelly smiled. "Thanks though."
"You sure? Cause it's not out of my way at all, and I'd hate for you to have to walk. I mean, doesn't it rain over here like all the time?"
Kelly laughed, "Yea, pretty much. But don't worry about it. I would just make you late, and that's not how you want to start off at a new school."
"Kelly," Carrie looked at her sternly. "Let me drive you. It's the least I can do for you being so nice to me today when I know you seriously thought about taking that detention instead of walking with me."
"Yea," Kelly grinned. "Alright, but don't say I didn't warn you. If I'm not out here when you get here, it's 235. Just bang on the door to wake me up."
"Alright," Carrie laughed.

Kelly walked into the unlocked apartment, closing the door behind her. The little puppy she had found yesterday while walking outside came bounding out of her room.
"How did you get out?" Kelly smiled, bending down to pick it up. "Mom is gonna kill me when she finds you. She said if I bring home one more stray, she's gonna keep the dog and kick me out."
The puppy licked her nose playfully, making her laugh.
"Come on, let's get us something to eat," she said, carrying him to the small kitchen and pulling out a bowl, fixing her some cereal as she pulled out several pieces of ham for the dog. "I'll get you some dog food on the way home from work," she apologized, placing him on the chair next to her as she sat down to eat.

Carrie pulled into the driveway, stretching as she yawned. She prayed that Kelly had been right in saying that it would get easier. She grabbed her bag from the back seat as she got out of the car, making her way to the front door.
"Mom!" she called out, announcing her arrival as she walked in the front door.
"In here sweetie!"
Carrie followed the voice to the kitchen where her mom was pulling a batch of cookies out of the oven.
"You know me so well," Carrie smiled, sitting at the counter, going to grab a cookie. Her mom swatted her hand away.
"Wait till they cool off. You're gonna burn yourself."
Carrie pouted, nursing her wound.
"Oh stop," her mom laughed, pouring her daughter a glass of milk.
"How'd the job search go?"
"Good," her mom nodded. "There's a position open at the elementary school. I go in for an interview tomorrow."
"That's great," Carrie smiled. "What time does Dad get home again?"
"Oh, I'm not sure sweetie. He said he'll be pretty late tonight," she replied, placing several cookies on a plate for her. "There you go."

Kelly dragged her feet as she unlocked the door to the apartment. She had been offered an extra shift at the movie theater, so naturally she jumped on it.
"Kelly?" she heard her mom's voice as she passed the living room.
Kelly froze, "Ma'am?"
"Come see," Jeanne said patiently.
Kelly carefully made her way to where her mother was seated.
"Kelly, what is this?" her mom asked, picking up the small puppy that was sleeping next to her.
Kelly gave her best 'I-don't-know-what-you're-talking-about' face.
"Don't even try that Kelly Brianne."
"But, he was crying, and he didn't have a collar," Kelly pointed out.
"Kelly, you can't keep bringing home every stray you see," Jeanne reminded her. "They're filthy, and they carry disease."
"I gave him a bath," she pouted.
"You'll put up flyers tomorrow after school."
"Mom, I have work tomorrow," Kelly reminded her.
"Yea, well, you pulled a double shift today, so they can spare you for an hour."
Kelly frowned.
"You know I don't like you working this late on a school night," Jeanne commented, handing the puppy to Kelly. It immediately curled up in the girl's arms. "How are you doing in school? You're keeping up?"
"I'm doing fine mom," she grumbled, standing with the dog.
"You know all I have to do is ask your teachers, and they'll tell me," her mom threatened.
Kelly shook her head, "Night mom."
"Night sweetie."
"Love you."
"You too."
Kelly smiled as she walked to her small bedroom, placing the sleeping puppy on the foot of her bed as she pulled out her books that she would need to do her homework. She looked at the clock, grabbing her pajamas to sleep in, and headed to the shower. It was nearly midnight. This was why she had so much trouble waking up in the morning.
