Leyna’s POV
Me...Alone...With Paul. Dream come true or nightmare? Maybe a little of both. At any rate, who was I to say no? If I did it would seem suspicious, seeing as this wasn’t the first time he’s rescued me from his daughter’s shopping addiction. We finished eating fairly quickly and separated, myself and Paul heading off towards HMV and Nikki began dragging Daddy off. Poor guy, I know I hate clothes shopping with her, it can take hours and then you end up carrying some of her things as well. Now, I just had to figure out how I was going to handle being alone with Paul for however long.
“Thanks for the rescue Paul,” I thanked him, because really he had rescued me from his daughter. “Not a problem little girl, I know you hate shopping, and Nik can be a little much,” he said with a smile. I would have melted then if I hadn’t realized that he had said “little girl”. Well that’s a kicker. I gave him a small smile, trying to mask the fact that I was feeling a little hurt that he thought of me as a little girl still. We didn’t talk about anything else, this I was happy about because I was sure that if I had to talk to him I would start crying. Stupid I know, but really when your crush thinks of you as nothing but a little girl, what other reaction can a person expect?
We finally found HMV and we both went straight for the DVD section. I will admit that I was tempted to grab Blade Trinity just to bug him, but then I spotted a few movies that I had wanted for awhile. I almost squealed when I found Revenge of the Nerds, I had been looking for it for months and everywhere that I went no one had it. I was extremely happy and looked over at Paul, who was looking at what looked like a horror film, what one I couldn’t tell you. He looked over at me and smiled, and I cursed myself when I blushed.
I moved on from the DVDs to the music section, not realizing that Paul was following me. I was the type of person who listened to all music, not just one type and so when I moved on to the classical section I jumped when I felt a hand on my shoulder and Paul’s deep voice. “I didn’t think that you listened to this crap Ley.” Oh how I loved that man’s voice. “First of all Pauly, it is not crap! Its good music. And secondly, I like all music not just rock or rap and stuff.” Of course when I said this I was smiling. “Ok, ok chill. Wait...what did you call me?” he asked with an eyebrow raised. “Pauly, of course it suits you well.”
“Alright Darlin’, if you say so, but I aint no girl.” Did he just call me Darling? Oh wow, and the heart flutters more than ever. I tried really hard not to blush, but it was impossible. This got another smile out of him and he went to pay for the 3 movies he had picked out, while I put back the CD I had been looking at and then paid for my movie. “Do you mind if we stop off at the book store? I want to see if they have anything good.” I wasn’t sure how he’d take that, I was a bookworm, and well, he wasn’t. He just smiled. “Sure, I don’t mind at all.”
It didn’t take long to find a bookstore; once we found it I went looking to see if there were any new Jeanine Frost novels out. I loved that woman’s books, and I was constantly checking for new ones whenever I had a chance. I could feel Paul watching me like a hawk, and every so often he glared at the teen that was at the cash register and staring at me. He was in protective mode, well more like father mode to me because it wasn’t like he liked me or anything. There were no new novels and I sighed to myself.
“I think we can go. There’s nothing here that I don’t have by her.” He only nodded, still glaring at the boy. I had to tug on his arm to get him to move. “So, where to now?” I asked, trying to get some sort of conversation going. “We could get a drink, I noticed you didn’t have one when we ate.” I quickly agreed and we went off to find a vending machine that had bottles of pop. Sure I kept healthy, but I drank a lot of pop, it was my secret addiction. It seemed like it took us forever to find a vending machine. The mall was huge and the closest one was on the second floor.
We got our drinks and found a bench to sit on. We talked about anything and everything. From our favourite books and movies to politics. We even talked about whether I thought that I would ever start wrestling. I didn’t think that I would. I liked working backstage, it was fun and I got to hang out with a lot of really awesome people. Although, some of those people could be huge jerks and bitches at times, and when that happened it just got me mad as hell and I’d start yelling at the person. Like the week before, for example, when Big Show pissed me off enough that I screamed at him for a good 10 minutes. Paul laughed at the image of little me yelling at the huge man.
We sat there for a good hour and then decided to go and find Dad and Nikki. This of course would be a challenge, because we had to look through all the clothing stores, and let’s face it. In this mall there were about 100 or so stores, out of them there were around 70 clothing stores. Knowing Nikki, she’d have dragged Dad into as many as possible. We started off on the second level, searching all the stores that were there. Paul was getting a little annoyed when he called her cell and she didn’t answer. I even tried calling my dad and he wouldn’t answer either.
Amazingly, Paul had only been stopped a few times for autographs which had slowed him down a little but not much. Within a half hour we were done searching the second floor and had moved down to the first. Again, it took forever to search and we were just moving past Victoria’s Secret when I heard my dad’s voice. “I know I like what I see, but does your Daddy know you’re in here, Jas?” Paul and I both turned to look in the store, and my jaw dropped. There was my dad standing behind Nik, who was in some skimpy little outfit that was practically see through.
