"This is the story of a girl
Who cried a river and drowned the whole world.
And while she looked so sad in photographs,
I absolutely love her when she smiles."

"They're here," Jason frowned, looking down at his phone after pulling the range rover in the air port parking lot, parking on the side of the car that Ashley had rode in which was already empty.
"Who's here?" Dr. Lansing asked.
"So what's the plan?" Carrie asked.
"Distraction?" Kelly offered hopefully.
"You want me to go in first?"
"Who's here?" Dr. Lansing asked.
"Paparazzi," Kelly replied without taking her eyes off of Carrie. "If you're willing to."
"Yea, sure," Carrie nodded.
"How do you know?" Dr. Lansing questioned.
"Ashley just texted me," Jason replied. "She went ahead of us to check."
"Alright, so Care, you're going to go in first with Dr. Lansing," Kelly said as they got out of the car. She reached back in, undoing Alex's seat belt--she was already sound asleep. She carefully lifted her out of the car, and Alex's arms instinctively went around the Texan's neck as she mumbled fussily.
"With me?" Dr. Lansing questioned. "Why with me?"
"Because the less people I have around me the better. Less of a commotion. You'll just pretend you're her assistant or something."
"Are you sure she's safe?" Dr. Lansing frowned. "I mean, I can just bring her in after you two go in there."
Kelly felt Alex's grip on her tighten, "She's perfectly safe. Even if they notice me, the paparazzi have always been good about listening to me. If I ask for some space, they'll give it. You just have to be polite, and they'll respect you. Plus Jason will be right there just to make sure."
"So, Ashley's already waiting in the terminal," Jason explained, handing out their tickets and pulling out their luggage. Jason took Kelly's small bag, and she frowned as Carrie took Alex's even smaller one. In no way was it right for her to be able to fit all of her stuff in that bag. "Carrie, y'all go ahead. Ashley said she already talked to the stewardess--"
"Flight attendant," Dr. Lansing corrected.
"--and she'll board us last," Jason finished, ignoring her. "We'll be behind y'all in a bit."
"Ok," Carrie leaned over, touching Alex's head softly, kissing her forehead as she continued to sleep soundly. She looked up, catching Kelly's eye as she smiled softly at her, giving the taller blonde a slight wink.

Carrie smiled as the flashes erupted before her. She tugged on the doctor's arm, pulling her forward, "Come on. The faster we get through the check points the better. They can't follow us to the terminal."
Dr. Lansing walked stiffly by her side while Carrie responded politely to their questions.
"Where are you headed?" a cameraman asked.
"Going on a little vacation," she replied.
"Where to?"
Carrie just smiled.
"Aw, come on Carrie, just a hint."
"Somewhere fun," she shrugged, making them laugh.

Kelly pulled her baseball cap down low as she and Jason entered the airport. She could see in the far distance where flashes were going off, and she smiled, knowing that Carrie wasn't exactly fond of the paparazzi, but was willing to put herself second to Alex.
"She's not too heavy?" Jason asked.
"She's lighter than she used to be," Kelly frowned as Alex turned her head on Kelly's shoulder, looking at Jason glossy-eyed.
"Are we there yet?"
"Nope, we didn't even get on the plane yet," he smiled, rubbing her back. "Go back to sleep."
Alex turned back, burying her face in Kelly's neck, and Kelly smiled.
"Is she going to sleep the entire time the next few days?" Jason asked curiously.
"No," Kelly shook her said. "Dr. Lopez said she'd be exhausted today because they had to run a bunch of tests on her in order to make sure she was okay to come with us. She should be better later, and even if she's not, no big. Can't hate a girl for taking a nap or two."
Jason laughed, "Guess not."
"So, which gate is it?"
"This one right up ahead...shit," he cursed as a flash erupted before them.
Kelly stumbled slightly, but kept her grip on Alex as the little spots before her faded, and she saw the lone photographer that must have stayed behind after Carrie passed through. All the others were probably somewhere comparing their shots.
Another flash went off, and Jason took a protective step forward.
"I'm sorry, but can you please stop?" Kelly asked gently, hearing Alex whimpering softly in her sleep. "She's not feeling very well, and she's trying to sleep. Please?"
"Sure," the photographer nodded quickly, completely thrown by the fact that he hadn't gotten chewed out like he normally did by celebrities. "Sorry."
"Thanks," Kelly smiled as Jason escorted her through the gate.

"Hey," Carrie stood from her seat as Kelly, Alex, and Jason joined them. "How'd it go?"
"It was fine. Just one guy, but he stopped when I asked."
"Good," Carrie smiled watching as Kelly shifted from foot to foot. "Is she heavy? You want to sit?"
"No, I just have to pee," she admitted.
"Well go," Carrie laughed.
Kelly looked at the sleeping child in her arms.
"Kell," Carrie sighed, holding her arms out. "Come on. I got her. Trust me?"
Kelly eyed her nervously, but carefully handed Alex over to her, "I'll be right back."
Carrie rolled her eyes as she sat back down in the chair. She felt Alex stirring in her arms, and she smiled as her big green eyes stared up at her, "Mornin' munchkin."
"Where's Kelly?"
"In the bathroom," she replied. "How you feeling?"
Alex just nodded, sitting up on her lap.
"You've ever flown before?"
"No," she admitted.
"You nervous?"
Alex gave a small laugh.
Carrie raised an eyebrow, "It's ok to be nervous you know."
"I'm not nervous."
"Everyone gets nervous sometimes."
"Kelly doesn't."
Carrie frowned, "I'm sure she does."
Alex shook her head, "No she doesn't. She's like superwoman. She's not even nervous about what the doctors said about me."
"She told you that?"
Alex shrugged, "I can tell."
"You know, I didn't fly for the first time until I was 21," Carrie said, changing the subject.
"You're old."
"I am not old," Carrie laughed.
Alex wrinkled her eyebrows as she looked at Carrie thoughtfully.
"What?"
"Were you nervous?"
"Like crazy," Carrie nodded.
Kelly paused as she walked up behind them, watching the two interacting with a smile.
"I'm not nervous," Alex said firmly, crossing her arms.
"You sure?"
"Yep."
"Not even a little?"
Alex's arms fell, "Maybe just a little...but don't tell Kelly. I want her to think that I'm strong like her."
"Your secret's safe with me," Carrie smiled.
"Hey you two," Kelly greeted, sitting in the chair next to Carrie, laughing as Alex climbed over the seat onto her lap. She wrapped her arms around her, squeezing her gently. "What are you guys talking about?"
Alex looked at Carrie nervously.
"Oh, you know," Carrie shrugged. "How much fun we're going to have at your place."
"You want to have fun?" Kelly asked, turning to Alex.
She nodded with a smile.
"Really?" Kelly asked, tickling her sides. "Cause I didn't hear you."
"Yes," Alex laughed.
"Nope, still didn't hear anything," Kelly grinned, continuing to tickle her. "What about you Care?"
"Not a thing," she shook her head.
"Yes!" Alex exclaimed, earning several looks from the people around them.
Kelly and Carrie giggled.
"Ok, ok," Kelly smiled. "I heard you the first time."
Alex glared at her, but Kelly poked her stomach making her smile.
"You know," Dr. Lansing frowned from the row of seats that were facing them. "You shouldn't be so rough with her and get her so excited."
Kelly frowned, looking at Alex, "You ok?"
"No, I think you broke me."
Ashley snorted with laughter from the side of the doctor, and Kelly bit down on her bottom lip to keep from doing the same.
"She definitely spends too much time with you," Carrie chuckled.
"Is that even possible?" Kelly asked.
"Never!" Alex cheered, raising a tiny fist in the air.
"Never!" Kelly agreed, blowing a raspberry on her cheek. She raised an eyebrow at Carrie.
"Never," the country singer agreed, earning a genuine smile from the Texan.

"So, where you want to sit?" Kelly asked as Alex pulled her down the aisle of the plane. There were only a couple other passengers in first class, giving them the illusion of privacy. "Look, these are our rows. Which chair you want?"
"One by you," Alex replied, holding her hand tightly.
"Alright, you want aisle or window."
"What about that one?" Alex said, pointing to the middle aisle of three seats.
"Ok," Kelly nodded. "Which one?"
"The one in the middle."
"Alright, here we go munchkin," Kelly smiled, lifting her into her seat, and sitting in the one next to her.
"Where's Carrie?"
"I'm not sure," Kelly frowned, looking around. She thought the country singer had been right behind them. "You want her to sit on the other side of you?"
"Yea, she told me she's scared of flying, so I promised to hold her hand."
"I'm here," Carrie smiled, sitting on the opposite side of Alex.
"Got lost?" Kelly laughed.
"No, my damn phone rang, and I had to remind my manager that I was taking the week off."
Kelly raised an eyebrow, looking down at the small child between them who's hand was over her mouth.
"What?"
"Kelly said we're not supposed to say damn," Alex replied.
"Shoot, I didn't even realize," Carrie laughed. "Wait...you just said it."
"Said what?"
"Damn."
"Aww," Alex put her hand over her mouth again, and Kelly laughed loudly.
"That has to be something you taught her," Carrie shook her head, smiling.
"Kid's a genius," Kelly shrugged, winking at Alex who beamed. "Let's get you all buckled up crazy," she smiled, leaning over and fixing Alex's seat belt. "Is that too tight, or it's ok?"
"It's ok," Alex nodded.
"Good."
"What's it for?"
"You know, it's just like riding in a car. You always have to buckle up to keep safe."
"Keep safe from what?"
Carrie caught her eye over Alex's head, and she shook her head.
"Um...you know...from the cookie monster, duh."
"Why would the cookie monster be on a plane?"
"To steal your cookies, duh."
"I don't have any cookies, duh."
Carrie couldn't help but laugh, and Kelly just smiled, reaching into her small carry on bag, showing Alex a small container of chocolate chip cookies she had snuck on.
"Shoot," Alex folded her arms. "See if I ever fly with you again, bringing the cookie monster on the plane and stuff."
Kelly raised an eyebrow, "So does that mean you don't want one later? Cause, I mean, I'm sure Carrie and I can easily eat all of these ourselves."
"Definitely," Carrie nodded.
Alex's eyes got wide, "Well...I guess we can work something out."
"That's what I thought," Kelly nodded, putting the cookies up as the flight attendant walked down the aisle, checking to make sure everybody was situated before take off.
