A/N: Okay, so here's probably the longest and fluffiest chapter in my story thus far. But I love it too much. I thought about breaking it up, but decided against it. So here it is in all it's fluffy goodness! *giggles*

Rebecca had finally gotten Ivy to finish with her makeup and hair ministrations and had pulled on her boots that Ivy had bought her for her last birthday, while Ivy headed downstairs herself to ‘watch the reaction’. Then she made her own way downstairs and into the living room. She smiled at the sight of Patrick in one of his suits and bolero hat tilted to the side, no doubt done by Pete. Although she blushed at the intensity of the once-over he gave her.
“Maybe we need to rethink leaving these two alone, Poison. Becca looks too hot to let her be alone with Patrick. Especially since they’re going to have the entire house to themselves, for at least tonight.”
“No, let them have their fun. Besides, we have important business in Tampa. And our flight leaves in an hour, so you still have to finish packing. I think I can make sure that your mind won’t be on your sister and what she might be doing.”
“God, don’t start that talk again. I really don’t need to think about my brother doing any sort of thing when I’m about to go eat. Which is a good excuse to leave, if you two are done trying to run us off.”
Becca shook her head as both Pete and Ivy’s teasing. She turned back to Patrick to see if he was ready to go, but blushed seeing that he seemed to still be staring at her. She walked over and waved her hand in front of his face for a moment before quickly kissing him on the cheek.
Patrick really seemed to be dazed as he jumped at the light kiss. His cheeks flamed a deep red, and Becca giggled, her own cheeks still red from the intense stare from earlier. She heard Pete and Ivy laughing from behind her, but ignored them, smiling up at Patrick.
“So, are you ready to go?”
“Um, yeah. Let’s go.” Patrick turned to Pete and Ivy for a moment. “Be careful you two. And don’t have too much fun at the expense of the others down there.”
“Aww, Stumpy, you’re taking away all of my fun. Why else would I be going except to have fun at their expense? Perhaps it’s us who should be telling you two to be careful. But god knows you two need the fun. Just please promise not to have at it in Pete’s room. I would hate to think I needed to wash everything in that pigsty.”
“That’s our cue to leave. Bye you two. Take care and get back safe. We’re leaving now.”
Becca hurriedly gave her brother a hug before leaving, her face a bright red along with Patrick’s. When they made it outside, Becca dissolved into a fit of giggles. After all, now that she wasn’t face to face, she could at least find a little humor in the entire situation. Patrick glanced over at her with a confused look on his face.
“Sorry, I just found it a little humorous. The entire situation and such. I hope you weren’t too put out by their teasing. I swear they’re even worse when together.”
“It’s perfectly alright. Besides, I’ve been friends with Pete long enough to know that’s normal for him. But you look amazing, Reby.”
“Thanks, you look nice yourself.”
Becca grinned as she noticed Patrick seem to shake off her compliment with a blush. She had long since grown accustomed to his shy acceptance of compliments and such. It often made her giggle at how modest and old-fashioned he seemed to be. But then again, she wouldn’t change him for anything. When they reached Patrick’s car, she grinned as he walked around to hold her door open for her, despite having told him on multiple occasions that she could open her own door just fine. He had always simply shrugged and replied that it was the proper thing for a guy to do, and proceeded to open her door for her anyways.

As they pulled up outside of one of the higher end restaurants, Becca turned to Patrick, a bit of disbelief on her face. There was nothing special about tonight, and yet he had went through all the trouble to set up a gorgeous night out for the two of them. She raised an eyebrow as she got out of the car, looping her arm through his.
“Patrick, what’s the occasion? This is too nice of a place for just a regular night out. You know that I would have enjoyed a simple night in with movies and pizza for ourselves.”
“Yes, but tonight is special. So I wanted to make it feel special. Why don’t you ask me again before dessert what makes tonight special and I’ll tell you then?”
Becca laughed and shook her head as Patrick seemed to want to keep a little suspense about the evening. Although she couldn’t help but wrack her mind trying to figure out why tonight would be special. It wasn’t a birthday, and not an anniversary. She couldn’t think of anything to merit such a celebration, so she would just have to wait until dessert it seemed.
“Oh alright. You can have your little secret, for now at least.”
“Good. I would hate to think that I planned all this out so perfectly only to have to reveal my secret in the parking lot. So come on, let’s eat.”
~*~
“So, now what is the secret of yours? We have dessert, so spill the secret, Patrick.”
Becca giggled as she asked him about the secret just as soon as the waiter was out of earshot after serving dessert. She had always had a bad habit of not holding with surprises, and she guessed that this was no exception.
“Which secret? I have plenty of secrets planned for tonight.”
She frowned playfully as Patrick seemed to purposely sidestep the question. Although the idea of him having several surprises planned for tonight intrigued her. And it did nothing to help the fact that she had never been particularly fond of surprises anyways.
“Okay, first, what’s the special occasion? It’s not a birthday or an anniversary.”
“But it is an anniversary. I have been hopelessly smitten with you for three years today. It was when you showed up outside our tour bus with your bag demanding that we take you along for a part of our tour. I remember it because you were so determined to go with us that you wouldn’t take anything but having it completely your way. I don’t know why but that day just cemented everything for me.”
Rebecca blushed furiously as Patrick told her how he had been smitten with her for years. She could still remember that day as well. She had just finished high school and was looking for a little adventure before she started college that fall. She had begged her parents to let her do something fun and outrageous, but the most they would let her do was to go out with her brother for a few weeks, and she had been worse than determined to do just that.
“That’s adorable. And to think me being a childish stubborn teenager won me such a great guy as you. If I had known that I would have just been a brat my entire life. I don’t even think I told Petey about coming with you guys before I showed up. It wasn’t flattering, believe me.”
“I thought it was very flattering. It showed your personality perfectly. Once determined and focused on something, nobody or nothing will stop you.”
“Also that I’m childish, stubborn, and entirely too spontaneous. Because if you remember all of that little tour, I had forgotten to pack most of the necessities of life and ended up having to either borrow from others on the road, or buy them at the nearest stop.”
“Yes, but it was still amusing to see you walking around in your brother’s clothes using whatever rope we had laying around as a belt, while borrowing one of my hats to keep your hair up out of the way as you insisted that you learn some technical job to help while you were out with us. Because I remember you telling everyone that you hated the special treatment you were given for being Pete’s little sister.”
“Well, I do. I still hate it. You should ask Pete what happened when he wanted to give me the director job for the ‘Golden’ video. I would have thought with that tour he would have learned his lesson with those things. But apparently he needs reminding every now and then.”
“Regardless of how you might like to think of that little tour, I still remember the first day you came and demanded we take you with us. And I’ve been smitten ever since.”
“Patrick, that’s too sweet. I don’t think I have any particular moment where I seemed to have come to my senses about you. Maybe I just always knew that you were a right sort of guy. Even with the other guys I went out with, I think I may have always known you were the right one, as none of them quite measured up.”
“Well I’m glad for that at least. Because that means I have you now. And I don’t think I want to let you get away.”
Becca blushed as they both seemed to understand each other and leaned over the table for a light kiss. As they broke apart, she blushed even more seeing their waiter standing beside the table with a bit of a smirk on his face.
“Would the signore like a wine to finish the meal? And might I ask the special occasion for signore and his lady?”
“Um, yes, I think that sounds like a good idea. And of course. It’s our anniversary. Three years I have been completely smitten by this lady.”
“Ah, amore! I shall be right back with your wine, signore. And congratulations to you both.”
Becca giggled as the waiter walked away, humming an old Italian love song. She recognized the tune, but not the words. She turned and smiled brightly at Patrick who seemed to be staring at her with a bit of a starry-eyed expression. She blushed a little and took another bite of the cheesecake they had gotten for dessert. Sometimes the intense gazes that she often caught him giving her were a little unnerving, and given the lovely evening that he had already planned out, she was a little cautious to see what else awaited her after they finished their meal.
“So, what do you have planned after the gorgeous meal?”
“Oh, I have my ideas. But I want them to be a surprise for you. I know that you hate surprises and such, but let me have this one little spot of fun, Reby. I assure you that you will enjoy these surprises.”
“If you say so.”
“Then I say so. After we finish dinner I’ll give you your next surprise.”
~*~
“Can I open my eyes now?”
Rebecca hated feeling lost and blind, as she had promised Patrick she wouldn’t peek as he led her out somewhere, having parked away from whatever their destination was and insisted on walking out with her eyes closed and covered.
“Not yet, we’re almost there.”
“This had better be an amazing surprise, Patrick. You should know how I hate to be blind and such.”
“I know, Reby. And I think this is a very good surprise. Just a few more minutes and we should be there.”
“Should? Patrick if you get me lost, I will never forgive you.”
“I won’t get you lost. Besides, you will still be with me, so it can’t be too bad.”
“You’ve been talking to Spence too much. His smug weasel-ness is rubbing off on you.”
Rebecca felt Patrick stop beside her, stopping as well to keep from getting into any trouble. She felt the hand over her eyes lift and she tentatively opened her eyes.
“Alright, you can open your eyes now.”
Whatever Becca had been suspecting was far from the sight before her. He had taken her out to the small lake in the local park, just on the side where the moonlight hit the water and turned it into a beautiful parade of colors. She had always talked about how much she loved this little lake and how it looked its best at night with the moonlight bouncing off the surface of the water. And to have Patrick remember that made her smile even brighter.
“It’s gorgeous, Patrick. And you remembered my favorite spot too. You’re too amazing.”
Becca leaned over and gave him a hug while pressing her lips gently against his. She smiled as his arms wrapped around her waist and pulled her up next to him. When they broke apart, they were both smiling. Patrick started to hum and gently pulled her into an impromptu dance. She danced along, giggling as she did. It was almost fairy tale-esque and she couldn’t help but smile.
“I’m glad you like it, Reby. I’ve planned this for a while. But to see your reaction first hand makes it even more worth while. Come on, this isn’t the only part of the surprise.”
Rebecca giggled and followed as Patrick pulled her along the edge of the lake. She was curious to find out what the next part in Patrick’s string of surprises. She had a sneaking suspicion that at least tonight’s surprises weren’t going to be the kind that she hated.
Just as they cleared a stand of trees, Becca stopped with a hand over her mouth. It was perfect. At the small gazebo, there was a telescope set up along with what looked like a radio and blanket stretched out in the grass. She could hear the faintest sounds of music as well. She turned to Patrick completely in shock.
“How?”
“Well let’s just say that I wanted to make everything perfect tonight. And I had some help from a certain friend with setting things up. You can thank Spencer for taking care of all the details here until we showed up.”
“So that’s why you slipped away after dessert. Thank you, this is gorgeous Patrick.”
“It’s nothing. Like I said, I wanted this to be perfect. You always talked about how you liked to watch the stars while thinking about the stories behind the constellations, so I brought you the stars. Now you can tell me all about the mythology behind the stars. Just like I promised you could do when you first mentioned it.”
“Patrick I can’t believe you remembered that. It had to have been at least a year ago when I said that. I really don’t deserve you.”
“On the contrary, I don’t deserve you. But of course I remembered. You looked so serene and gorgeous as you talked about how interesting your astronomy class was, with all the stories of ancient mythology and such. How could I not remember something like that?”
Rebecca laughed and shook her head, not knowing how to respond to Patrick’s sweet gesture. She didn’t know what to think from such an evening, it was all just too perfect in her eyes. She leaned her head against his shoulder with a small sigh. It was all just too perfect to be true.
“Come on, let’s go sit down. You haven’t seen the half of it.”
Patrick took her hand and led her over to the blanket that had been spread out on the ground. She walked over with a smile and sat down, thinking the night couldn’t get any better.
~*~
Rebecca turned and noticed Patrick staring at her again as she had just finished one of the various stories from mythology that she had been sharing all night. Patrick had been fascinated by them, even remembering some of the details himself and jumping in with commentary of his own. It had been perfect. She stood and walked over to the telescope that neither had used all night so far. It had always been a hobby of hers, stargazing, and she had long since memorized the constellations and their various parts.
“Here, let’s see how well this telescope works. If it’s a good enough one we might be able to see the stars up close, or at the very least see a few planets.”
Becca turned from Patrick to the telescope, setting the eyepiece dials and pointing the barrel towards where one of the more visible planets should be found. She leaned back over the eyepiece again, frowning a little as she saw something blurry in the view. She expertly turning a few knobs to clear up the view. Although there was still a ring of something on the other side of the end of the telescope. She pulled back from the telescope and saw Patrick standing near the end of the telescope.
“What are you doing over there? You can’t see anything from looking in the other end. Besides, there’s something on the glass that’s making a ring around the view.”
Patrick laughed and motioned for her to come over to the end of the telescope. She glanced down at the glass on the end of the barrel and couldn’t believe what she saw there.
“Rebecca Anne Marie Wentz, I am absolutely and madly in love with you and would be the happiest man in the world if you would agree to marry me.”
Rebecca turned to see Patrick had knelt down and instantly felt the tears well up in her eyes. It was beautiful, perfect, and everything that she had ever imagined. She nodded, for once in her life left completely speechless. Patrick stood and looked down into her eyes as if he were about to cry himself.
“Is that a yes?”
“Yes.”
Becca nodded with a small teary laugh before throwing her arms around his neck and kissing him to show just how much of a yes that was. As they pulled apart, Patrick took the ring from the end of the telescope and slid it onto her finger. Becca just stared at her hand, feeling a little alien from the entire situation. She heard Patrick laugh and looked up, smiling before kissing him again.
“Reby, you have no idea how happy you have just made me. I can’t even begin to explain it all.”
“You’re adorable when you get tongue-tied, you know that?”
She laughed before kissing him again, seemingly unable to keep herself from it. She couldn’t believe that she was now engaged. It was something completely odd and almost out of body for her. Of course she had always had the little girlish dreams of getting engaged and such, but she had never actually thought it would ever really and truly happen, or in such a perfect way. She honestly thought she would swoon from the entire situation.
“Come on, I added a few things to the basket. The night isn’t over yet. I still have plenty more surprises for you.”
Rebecca raised an eyebrow as she walked back over to the blanket and sat down, not knowing anything that could even compare with his last surprise.
