"It may be his soul was bigger than a body's oughta be,
Singin' songs and bringin' laughter to the likes of you and me.
Cause the world he saw was sadder than the one he hoped to find,
But it wasn't near as lonesome as the one he left behind."

"It's beautiful," Carrie breathed as she stepped out of the limo. It was dark outside, and the lights that were glowing around the outskirts of the house lit it up enchantingly. "Hey Alex--"
"She's sleeping," Kelly whispered, climbing out behind her, Alex in her arms.
"She's missing it," Jason pointed out.
"Let her sleep," Kelly said, kissing the top of her head. "It's been a long day."
"This place is amazing, Kell," Carrie smiled.
"You haven't seen the inside yet," Kelly laughed softly, following Jason to the front door. "Come on."
Carrie grabbed her and Alex's bags, following Kelly into the house and into a spare bedroom. Carrie carefully dropped the bags, hurrying over to pull back the covers as Kelly carefully laid Alex down. She smiled sadly down at her.
"You're doing a great thing," Carrie said, placing a gentle hand on her arm.
"You don't think the doctor was right?" she asked softly, turning to look at her, her eyes shining.
"No Kell," Carrie sighed, reaching up to brush a tear from the shorter girls' cheek. "Trust me. This is perfect. Alex is already having a blast. That's all that matters."
Kelly took a deep breath, nodding for Carrie to follow her. Carrie picked up her bag, following her to the room right across from the one they were in. It was much bigger with a king size bed in the middle of it. There were lyrics scribbled in white all over the light blue walls. Some, she recognized as Kelly's, others from some of the Texan's favorite songs. Some, she hadn't even heard before, and she figured they must be from songs Kelly had never released.
"This is cool," Carrie smiled.
"Care?" Kelly said cautiously, leaning back against the bed.
"Yea?" Carrie asked, walking to her.
"It's been a long day...well, it's been a long week, and it's been kinda rough too," she swallowed hard.
"Yea," Carrie agreed, wiping another tear that had managed to escape from the hazel eyes gazing back at her.
"Well, I was just thinking, I mean, it's up to you..."
"Kell?"
"Will you stay with me tonight?" Kelly whispered.
"You think that's a good idea?" Carrie asked carefully.
Kelly looked at her confusedly.
Carrie sighed, knowing that Kelly had completely shut that night out of her mind for the time being, "I mean, is that what you really want?"
"Yes," she nodded, biting her bottom lip, her voice shaking. "I just...please?"
"Of course," Carrie wrapped her in a hug at the sight of more tears forming. "I missed you," she admitted in her ear. She felt Kelly's body tremble slightly as her warm tears hit her shoulder.
"Come on," Carrie said gently, turning off the lights and helping her into the bed, climbing in right beside her. She reached out, wrapping her arms around the shorter girl, pulling her to her closely. She frowned at the feeling of Kelly's face buried into her neck without any fresh tears. "Are you ok?"
"I'm fine now," she sniffed.
"Kell," Carrie frowned. "You've got to let it out sometime. If you need to cry your eyes out, that's what I'm here for."
"I'm fine. I just...can you hold me? Like you used to?" Kelly asked, pulling back, her voice small. "Remember?"
Carrie nodded, swallowing the lump that was rising as she turned onto her back, pulling Kelly back to her as she hugged her protectively, "Everything's going to be fine."
"Don't lie."
Carrie closed her eyes tightly as she turned, kissing her temple, thinking of what would help to ease her mind, "I'm here now, ok? I'm not gonna leave you...I promise."
She felt Kelly's grip on her tighten, and Carrie pulled her completely on top of her, their legs tangling as Kelly practically shook with the effort of holding back her tears.
Carrie kissed her forehead, whispering against her skin, "I've got you."

She didn't cry anymore that night. She was far too stubborn to. She sighed as she finally made it to the bottom of the stairs. She leaned against the wall for balance, her ankles started to wobble in the heels she was wearing. She made a mental note to definitely use the elevator on her way back up, whenever that would be.
