Celebs featured: Taylor Momsen, Tori Kelly
Taylor and Tori got together by the pool once again. The rock singer’s slender arms wrapped around Tori from behind while the two made an effort to avoid addressing the deal Captain told them about by thinking of literally any other topics to discuss. Muffins, pumpkins, wax paper, Dizzy Gillespie’s elbows - anything was preferable to thinking about the cosmic horrors with whom they might have to interact. Tori mentioned there being a new Grinch movie, Taylor of course having played Cindy Lou Who in the Ron Howard version. Though they could settle for sitting silently while Tori gently rubbed Taylor’s bare thighs, this would have to do.
“No amount of money will get me to do another damn Grinch movie,” Taylor insisted. “I didn’t care for Illumination’s last Dr. Seuss movie, so a Grinch movie isn’t going to change that.”
“What about the soundtrack? You’ve done a song for a soundtrack before.”
Tori knew Taylor didn’t want anything to do with the movie or else she would’ve done something for it already. She just wanted to keep it going so they wouldn’t have to think about Captain’s deal for as long as possible.
“Yeah, for a Tim Burton movie. Somehow I don’t think Illumination is trying to make Nightmare Before Christmas.”
“Even though it’s scored by Tyler, the Creator?”
Taylor did a double take, “For real? Why didn’t they asked you?”
In the Illumination animated movie Sing, in which Tori Kelly - a shy girl with a powerful voice who once entered a televised singing competition - played a shy girl with a powerful voice who enters a televised singing competition. It was an incredibly challenging role for Tori, to say the least. Tori also recorded two covers for the soundtrack: one was of Stevie Wonder’s Don’t You Worry Bout A Thing, while the other was the five billionth cover of Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah. Since she would no doubt return for the sequel, it would’ve made sense if Illumination asked Tori to contribute to a movie adaptation of a classic Christmas story.
Tori shrugged, “I dunno. I would’ve loved the opportunity, but I can still make a Christmas album myself.”
“Hey, speaking of Tyler, Rose is friends with him, right?”
Rose Bertram was a big 2Pac fan, which was presumably part of the reason she and Tyler were able to become friends.
Tori nodded, “Yeah?”
“And Tyler is buddies with Frank Ocean?”
Tori froze up. She loved Frank Ocean. Tori, Ella, Lili, Kacy, and Ariana would get really excited every time he had a new song out.
“Are you gonna get Frank Ocean to sing for my birthday?”
“Now, now, Tori,” Taylor massaged Tori’s upper arms. “Don’t go jumping to conclusions. Florence had a song on Gossip Girl once, but that doesn’t mean we do favors for each other.”
“Then why did you bring up Frank Ocean?”
“All the better to fuck with you, my dear.”
Tori giggled, then she yawned.
“Damn, I feel like hitting the hay now.”
“May I join you?”
Tori flashed Taylor an eager grin.
“You think I’d let you sleep in a cold bed?”
Taylor planted a kiss on Tori’s shoulder, “That’s what I love about you. Don’t forget, though - we’re watching Castlevania tomorrow night.”
Tori walked back to her room with Taylor at her side, the hand at the end of her lean arm clinging to Tori’s hip during the whole walk over.
