“Jade” Gerard cried in the heat of passion, “Good god”. Collapsing on top of her sticky body he refused to move, even when she groaned that he was crushing her. “Jade, we have two minutes before Maggie wakes up” he laughed, staring at the clock which showed the time of 6.45. “So come on touch me, lets go again”.
Laughing together, the hugged and kissed some more. Until they heard the familiar patter of feet running down their hallway.
”Mum I dreamt of peaches” Maggie screamed. “They all came alive and chased me and I couldn’t get away. Daddy what are you doing?”
Gerard jumped off Jade quickly, “I was just hugging mummy” he smiled, trying to control his erection as Maggie clambered upon the bed and made them both kiss her and her teddy bear good morning.

In the morning Jade took Maggie for breakfast while Gerard did several interviews for his up coming role. Photographers had followed them for the first few days, until Gerard had hired an entourage to follow them a few feet behind them, meaning all photographers were sternly told to vanish. Thanks to that after dinner they could arrive at the hotel where Gerard was doing his interview, and wait for him. Jade was wiping muck from Maggie’s face when she saw him walking down the stairs, talking to some man. Maggie yelled in joy and ran over, but he barely looked at her. Jade frowned as she watched Maggie trying to get his attention, but Gerard wasn’t focusing on her, when he finally did look down he ruffled her hair, and told her to go and sit back down. Jade thought of all the other times Gerard and Maggie had been together, him swinging her around in joy. Maybe he was tired. Her eyes met his and he smiled, and walked over to hug her. Jade inhaled his scent and felt her knees going weak, how was he so appealing?
”Hello sexy” he growled, “I’m bored of interviews now, want to go and play? Doug is taking his family to a theme park and said he will take Maggie”
”Well I would have if you hadn’t just dismissed her like that?” Jade said, pulling herself from his embrace. Gerard looked down at her and smiled, Maggie was sat exactly where Gerard pointed, and was quietly cradling her Marek dolly.
”I didn’t dismiss her, I was having a conversation, I couldn’t just ignore him and see her, but daddies here now” he smiled, kneeling beside her and lifting her to him.
Jade stared at him, bullshit she thought. But bit her tongue and walked with them to their hotel room. Though she watched him carefully she couldn’t fault him for the rest of the afternoon, he was the perfect father. She then felt guilty for suspecting he was being different towards his daughter and lavished kisses upon him, sitting in his lap.
”Mmm” Gerard moaned, “What was that for?”
”Just because, I love you” She smiled, “What time is Doug taking Maggie? I could do with us time as well” Jade hugged Gerard close to her, and smiled, he was so comfortable she could hold him forever. “Maggie mae? Do you want to go out with Uncle Doug to the park today?” she asked, praying the child world find the idea appealing.
Maggie trotted over and smiled at her parents as they hugged together on the sofa. Climbing up the arm, she pushed her way in-between them and lay against her father, with Jades arms around her. “Ok but Daddy has to stay here,” she said, waving her doll wildly and almost cracking it against Gerard’s head. “Because he is naughty”
”That’s fine” Gerard smiled, kissing her on the cheek. “Well go and get your shoes, and I will drive you there.”
As Maggie skipped into the other room, Gerard turned on Jade and pressed her hands between her legs, kissing her hard on the lips, he tasted her with his tongue and bit her bottom lip, “Run a bath” he growled, grabbing her bum firmly and squeezing it hard. AS he heard Maggie running back, he pulled her down into a hug, and kissed her neck.
”Hurry up, no stopping to talk” Jade groaned.

Gerard had never driven so fast during rush hour in the afternoon. Half of him torn with hanging around and saying thank you to Doug for taking Maggie for the day, the other half just wanting to go home and pleasure Jade. Dropping Maggie and her bags off he thanked Doug, who had insisted Maggie stay over since they would be driving home late anyway; it barely seemed worth taking her to a hotel. Gerard stared at Maggie who barely looked at him as she jumped around with Doug’s two little girls.
”Oi Maggie mae, I’m leaving now” Gerard whined, holding his arms out, “Don’t you want to say goodbye to me?”
Maggie stomped over and stared at him, “Will you say hello to me?”
Gerard smiled, again bowled over by her intelligence he pulled her close and kissed her neck, “I’m sorry sweetheart. I love you”
”What time will you get me?” she asked, hugging him hard.
”Ill collect you myself tomorrow at 2”
”You promise?”
”I promise promise, and you know what that means” he smiled.
”You can’t break a double promise” she whispered, kissing his cheek, then waving him goodbye as he climbed into his car. Gerard could see Marek sitting where Maggie was and held him out the window to Maggie’s arms.
”Look after me!” he laughed, as Maggie hugged her doll.
Gerard pulled out of the drive and called Jade, “Hello?” he voice breathed through the car, making his stomach flutter.
“Jade do me a favour, go to the wardrobe.”
”Ok hang on” she laughed, walking over and opening it.
”Ok root around at the bottom, there’s a box”
Jade lifted the box and placed it on the bed, “Ok I’ve got it”
”Ok wear it” he laughed, hanging up on her. Jade dropped the phone and carefully opened the box, screaming in joy as she picked up the finest lingerie she had ever seen. Beautiful cream silk, and a small note.

”To Jade.
This will be perfect for your complexion and for my erection.
See I’m a poet.
Love you lots, see you in five.
Gerard”

Jade heard the door opening, and Gerard footsteps in the hallway, running as fast as she could, she locked herself in the bathroom and pulled on her new outfit. The bath was ready, but she didn’t think they would be in the tub for a while yet. Fixing her hair she looked at herself in the mirror. Hearing his steps in the bedroom, she smiled and opened the door.
”Gerard” she soothed, flicking one leg out of the door, and then turning to show him the full effect of his latest offerings. The waiter stared back at her, clutching his trolley with food upon it. His eyes travelled up and down her body, and she screamed and ran back into the bathroom. Locking the door she sat on the floor half laughing, half ashamed. Hearing a second set of footsteps and a joker laugh she knew Gerard was home, and the poor boy was probably apologising.
”Oh Jade” Gerard cried, half laughing, as the boy left the room, “Jadey I want my..ohh food”
Jade popped out of the bathroom, and watched him eating a slice of orange. Gerard spun round and took her in. “Christ, that’s the best thing I ever bought” he sighed. Reaching out to hold her, she pulled back and walked away from him.
”Yeah the waiter thought so too” she stared at him daring him to laugh, and flew at him when he did. Gerard collapsed backwards on the bed, with Jade on op of him.
”I’m sorry Jade, but its funny. Think of all the time Jake spotted me completely bollock naked, you laughed then. No don’t tickle I’m sorry” Jade kissed him hard and decided a fitting punishment for him.
”Ok then” she laughed, walking to the wardrobe. Gerard threw off his coat and shoes, jumping backwards on the bed; he looked up to see her pulling on some jeans and a top.
”Jade what are you doing?” he whined, That’s not right, its not right at all, clothes off please”
”We are going to dinner” Jade laughed.
“Jade no, I refuse,” he pouted, folding his arms and staring at her. “I don’t want to”
”Bloody hell you look just like Maggie, and do you know what I do to there when she throws a tantrum, a slap on the leg and to her bed”
”Please take me to bed” he laughed, climbing to his feet and walking to her.
”Get away from me” she screamed as he threw her against the wall, “No, we must go to dinner” she laughed as his hands flew up her top and fondled her. Eventually she gave up and slid her hand down his trousers. Gerard licked and bit her neck, pushing himself against her hand, lifting her hand out; she jumped up and threw her legs around him. Gerard grabbed her bum, and walked kissing her to the bed, throwing her down and ripping off his t-shirt; he ran his hands back up her top once more and pulled it over her head. Jade threw her legs around him as he kissed her again, while fumbling with her lingerie. Giving up he trailed his hands down to her waist and trailed his fingers along her waist in a line just above her pubes. Jade tingled and waited, eventually after his teasing her flipped the button on her jeans and pulled them off her, Jade reached out to do the same. Gerard stood and looked at her, dressed up as she pictured her and waiting for him. Leaning down upon her he sighed and kissed her head.
”I love you Jade”
”Do you? Are you happy Gerard?”
“Of course why wouldn’t I be?” he asked, trailing his hand up her body, but Jade stopped him.
”I mean it Gerard, things have changed, and you have to admit that. We don’t see as much of each other anymore, now we have Maggie there’s precious time we can have sex. We are living in a hotel..”
”Jade why are you bringing this all up?”
”Because its there, we have changed, and no amount of lingerie or romantic gestures can fix it unless we talk it through”
”Ok yes things that changed, a lot. Not for the worse though, we have had to learn to adapt. We have adapted. Are you not happy?”
”No” she said, looking him in the eye, “I’m not. I wanted you as my husband, not a man I see to have sex with” Jade pushed him off her and walked to the bathroom. Tears stung her eyes, but she carried on walking anyway. Throwing off her underwear she dipped her body into the bath and lay thinking about everything and nothing.

Gerard sat on the bed a while longer, leaving her to gather her thoughts. True things had changed, he loved them both to pieces but the spontaneity of their relationship was gone now they had Maggie. Life had changed, and they had grown, that was true, but he didn’t want to lose her. Not again. Running his fingers through his hair he walked into the bathroom, she was in the bath, a tear had escaped down her face minutes before, he could see the trail of water from her eye to her cheek. It glistened in the light.
”Jade. What can I do?” he asked timidly, walking toward her and dipping his hand in the water.
”Stop changing” she whispered, “Stop leaving me, and you aren’t about to do either of those things.”
”I’ll do anything for you, you know that”
”Gerard I want some time away”
”Jade one minute you want to see me more and now you want me to leave?”
”I’m not sure what I want” Jade spoke, staring into the water and refusing to meet his eyes.
”Well I will tell you what I want” he said, stepping into the bath and pulling her toward him, she resisted and tried to pull away at first, but he held her tight until she lost her will power and succumbed to his hug. “I want you, I want me and you to be as happy as we were. I thought you were happy”
”Well your blind then” she raged, staring up at his face. In the light his face was beautiful, Jade thought, his face was always beautiful.
”Jade don’t do this, I love you”
”I love you too, and because of that, at time I hate you. I love you so damn much yet I’m terrified of you, you’re the only one who can hurt me like this”
Gerard leaned over and kissed her. Jade stepped from the bath and got dressed, packing a bag she ignored his eyes as she took what her and Maggie needed.
”Gerard I’m going home, I need to go home.”
”No” he cried, “We are going to Paris next week, then you can go home, you promised”
”You promised we would always be happy” she cried, grabbing hold of her bag. “I’m going to get my daughter and then we are going home. Enjoy your career”
Gerard felt his heart drop as she slammed the door shut and left the building. What did this mean? Had he been spending too much time away from hoe? Had he been neglecting his wife and daughter?
”Jade” he cried, running into the hallway, grabbing a towel as he did. Jade pressed the button on the lift and turned to face him. “Please Jade don’t leave me, I need you”
”You will be fine” she said, smiling at him, taking him in one last time. “I love you Gerard”
Gerard stared at her as the doors closed, and felt his life ebbing away. Running for the stairs, he ran as fast as he could down all 7 flights, reaching the bottom just as the lift did, as the door opened he pushed her back inside and pressed the button
!No your not leaving me. You’re my wife, I need you”
”Gerard get off me” she pushed at him, but eventually ended up in his arms once more, crying softly against his chest.
”Don’t leave me Jade, not now. Why are you doing this?”
”I’m tired of it. I’m tired of woman wanting you, beautiful woman who want you. I’m tired of bringing up Maggie alone; I’m tired of wondering what you are up to on the other side of the world from me. I’m sick of it all”
”You knew what my life was like Jade”
”I thought I could deal. I cant, I cant do it. I want a husband who works 9 to 5, I want a man who will always be there, not a relationship with a phone”
Gerard broke down in her arms and hugged her tight, “I’m sorry I cant be what you want.”
Hearing him cry broke Jades heart, and she kissed him on the neck, “Let me go Gerard”
”I wont” he sobbed.
”If you love me you will let me go, I need time away from being your wife”
Gerard met her eyes, but her face went blurry as they filled with tears once more, he dropped his arms and stepped out onto his floor. Jade watched him turn and begin to walk back to the room, spinning one last time he watched her press the lift button, and descend floors away from him about to be thousands of miles away from him. In his heart he knew distance was nothing, right now they had never been further apart.
