"If this is a dream I'm happy you're having it with me.
I will stay and savor the way you move me.
Don't want to miss one detail,
One sweet smile from your lips."

Kelly answered one question after another with the magazine reporter. To be honest, she much preferred the radio interview, because at least with that she was able to hold a conversation. With this, it was just prewritten question...answer...pause while the reporter writes her answer down....another prewritten question...answer...and so on.
Her eyes looked up at the sound of the door opening. She smiled as Alex's head popped in.
"Hi," Alex smiled, her eyes holding their usual playfulness once more, making Kelly's heart soar.
Kelly patted the space beside her, and Alex scurried in, frowning as she reached the bed. Kelly giggled, realizing that it was much too high for her to get onto by herself. She got down, picking up Alex in her free arm as she answered another question and placed her on top of her bed before getting back on herself.
"Who's that?" Alex asked, crawling onto her lap, facing her.
Kelly brought a finger up to her lips.
Alex's eyes lit up, "Are you being famous right now?"
Kelly smiled, laughing softly as she wrapped an arm around her, squeezing her tightly as she answered another question.
"Kell, I went to check on Alex, but she's not..." Carrie's voice trailed off as she entered the room, finding Alex on Kelly's lap. She smiled.
Alex held a finger to her lips, shushing her.
"What's going on?" Carrie whispered as she walked over to the bed.
"She's being famous," Alex explained.
Carrie laughed, "Well, why don't you come with me, so she can finish up, ok?"
Alex nodded, getting up to walk over to Carrie's arms, but Kelly shook her head, motioning for Carrie to join the two of them.
Carrie raised an eyebrow, but Kelly just shook it off, patting the space right beside her. Carrie did as she was told, climbing onto the bed, sitting next to her. She smiled as Alex jumped onto her lap playfully.
"Hey you," Carrie said softly.
"Hey you," Alex replied back.
Kelly smiled, slipping her hand into Carrie's. Carrie tried not to frown as her heart tugged at the gesture. She didn't say anything, letting the Texan enjoy the moment. It wasn't that she wasn't enjoying it herself. In fact, she wanted nothing more than to have a million more of these moments, but she knew that their time with Alex was limited, and she was concerned that with Alex seeming so normal right now, that Kelly was forgetting that.
"We're going outside today," Alex informed her quietly.
"Oh yea?" Carrie smiled. "And what do you want to do outside?"
"I don't know," she shrugged. "I don't normally get to play outside. What is there to do?"
"Well, knowing Kelly, there's lots of things to do," Carrie replied, trying to not think about Alex's answer too much.
Kelly squeezed Carrie's hand as she answered one final question for the reporter before hanging up, "Of course there's lots to do."
"Like what?" Alex asked excitedly, turning to face her.

"No, life ain't always beautiful.
Tears will fall sometimes.
Life ain't always beautiful,
But it's a beautiful ride."

"Now, this is cool," Carrie nodded at the go carts Jason had pulled out.
He grinned, "Wait until you see the track we built."
"Oh...my God," Carrie giggled, looking up as Kelly walked out the front door of the house, holding onto Alex's hand as the she wobbled beside her. She had on a bicycle helmet, and elbow and knee pads that seemingly made it impossible for the poor girl to bend any of her joints. "Kell...seriously?"
"What?" Kelly asked. "I wanted to make sure she was safe."
"You rode one of these for the first time when you were four," Jason pointed out. "You didn't have any of that on...and you were the one driving it. You turned out ok."
"Well..." Carrie laughed.
"Shut up," Kelly smiled, pushing her playfully as they reached them.
"Do I really have to wear this?" Alex asked.
"Yes," Kelly replied, kneeling down so that they were eye level.
"But nobody else is."
"Kelly, seriously," Jason laughed.
Kelly frowned, "How about just the helmet, ok?"
Alex narrowed her eyes before she held out her hand, "Deal."
"Deal," Kelly laughed, helping her slide off the protective gear. "How's that?"
"I can move!"
Carrie and Jason laughed as Kelly's phone started to ring. She pulled it out, frowning and pressing the ignore button.
"Who's that?" Carrie asked, curiously.
"The big man."
Alex's eyes got wide, "You just hung up on God?"
Kelly grinned, not finding it possible for anyone to be more loveable than the small girl was, "No, I didn't hang up on God, silly. Although, I'm sure he thinks of himself as God."
"Clive," Carrie rolled her eyes.
"Probably one of his little ass-kissers," Kelly nodded. "That's the second time they called, and I told them that I wasn't available at all this week, so don't even bother calling. They listen so well."
"It's that golden ear," Carrie shook her head. "I think he needs a new hearing-aid for it."
Kelly laughed, clapping her hands together, "Well, forget them, right? Who needs stinky old Clive?"
"Not me," Alex shook her head surely.
"That's right," Kelly nodded, hitting their fists together. "Let's get rolling."
"I get to ride with you?"
"Well, duh," she smiled. "Which one you want?"
"The green one," Alex replied, pointing to the green go-cart.
"Ah, good choice," Jason nodded, tossing Kelly the keys for it as she climbed in. He then picked up Alex, carefully placing her on her lap. "You got her?"
"Yea," Kelly nodded, placing the seat belt over both of their waists.
"Not too fast, ok?" Jason said, eyeing them carefully, making sure they were secure. "Not used to riding doubles with someone so small--she's not weighted down by much, you know--so I'm not sure how it's gonna do."
"Don't worry I'll be careful," Kelly replied, watching as Carrie got situated in the one next to her with a huge smile. "Having fun?"
"This is awesome," Carrie nodded, running her hands over the steering wheel. "Can we go?"
"Let's go," Jason nodded, climbing into the third go-cart.
Kelly started hers up, placing her left arm around Alex for good measure, "You ready?"
"Heck yea!" she cheered, holding onto her arm.
Kelly laughed, pressing the gas, sending them forward. She felt Alex's grip on her tighten at first, but slowly start to relax, "You ok?!"
Alex just nodded, a huge grin on her face.
"You want to go on the track?!"
"Yea!"
Kelly smiled, following the path to the go-cart track they had made. It was a dirt track with hills and curves that they used to race on. She pulled onto the track, speeding up a bit over the steadier ground, hitting a muddy patch that was still there from the last rain, splashing Alex.
"Hey!" she fussed.
"Sorry!" Kelly laughed.
"That was on purpose!"
"No," she shook her head as they hit a curve and she ran the tiny vehicle on the inside of it where the water always settled, spraying mud everywhere. "That was!"
"Hey!" she heard a familiar voice on the side of them call out. She turned to find Carrie riding along side them. "Looks like you need a new driver, Alex!"
"I bet we can beat you!" Alex replied.
"You wanna race?!"
Kelly glanced at the child on her lap nervously, but Carrie nodded in silent assurance that she would hold back.
"Yea!" Alex called out.
"Three laps!" Kelly told Carrie. "Loser has to clean the go-carts!"
"Deal!" Carrie nodded, pressing the gas a little harder, but not pushing it so that Kelly wouldn't have to go too fast with Alex riding with her.
"Cheater!" she heard Alex from behind.
"If you ain't cheating, you ain't trying!" Carrie yelled over her shoulder.
Kelly laughed, pressing her gas a little more, tightening her grip on Alex, "Let's go munchkin!"
Inch by inch, they had managed to catch up with Carrie by the second lap.
"Did you miss us?!" Kelly laughed.
Carrie looked to the side, surprised to see them there, "Not really!"
"Eat our dust!" Alex called out.
Carrie couldn't help but smile at the huge grin that was plastered on her face. She looked like she was having the time of her life. She could see Kelly slowly pulling ahead, and she narrowed her eyes, sticking out her tongue at Alex before refocusing on the track.
"Help me out Alex!" Kelly said.
"Really?!"
"Yea! Grab the wheel!"
Alex took hold of the wheel in both hands, her face set in determination as they raced down the last straightaway. Kelly kept her hand on the bottom of the wheel for safety, but for the most part let Alex drive. They crossed the finish line seconds before Carrie, and Alex threw her hands up in victory. Kelly grabbed the wheel, slowing the go-cart to a stop. She undid the seatbelt as Alex jumped out, taking off her helmet.
"We won!" she cheered, jumping into Kelly's arms.
"Heck yea we won!" Kelly smiled, spinning her around as Carrie pulled up beside them, getting out as well.
"Not fair," Carrie shook her head.
"Nobody likes a poor sport," Alex replied, her face glowing.
Carrie laughed, "Alright, alright, y'all beat me. Whooptie do."
"Haha," Kelly smiled, hitting her fist with Alex's. "Score."
"You gotta clean the go-carts," Alex reminded Carrie, pointing to their green one which was nearly solid brown from all the mud.
"I think you two need more cleaning than they do," Carrie smiled at their mud-stained faces.
"Don't be jealous because you don't look super cool like us," Kelly grinned.
"Totally," Alex nodded in her arms.
Jason laughed as he pulled his cart up to the three of them, "So what's the verdict?"
"Carrie lost!" Alex cheered.
"Yea," Kelly nodded. "How about we head back so we can clean up and get some lunch. How's that sound?"
"Hamburgers?" Alex asked.
"Whatever you want," Kelly nodded, placing her on the ground. "Now put your helmet back on so we can ride back."
Alex quickly did as she was told, hurrying back onto Kelly's lap as they settled in once more.
