A/N: Okay, thank you all for your love and support while I had a bit of a time away due to family emergency. You guys are amazing and I love you all. Special love to Sally Skel, girlie, you had me near tears with your sweetness. You're amazing.
And now for happier notes, I am proud to say that after discussion (and a 3 hour plot bunny massive orgy with Cat) I can announce that this never ending fic is going to become a never ending series. *big fanfare music* Yes, you read correct, a SERIES. This includes Emo_Koala's "The Wonders of Fate" fic as well. We are just too in love with our characters and these stories to drop them after some of the loose ends are tied up. So we have decided to make this into a series. Hope you guys enjoy that! The series will include things such as pregnancies, surprises, babies, and the always present feel-good fluffiness that you guys have come to expect and love, I'm sure. But keep on the look out for the closing of this story and the next fic in the series!
But we can't start a new fic until we finish out this one, so here's a new chapter for my darlings! *hugs* Enjoy!

Rebecca pulled up outside of the restaurant that she and her dad always came to for their meetings. She had called him about meeting up for their weekly daddy-daughter lunches that she had missed during the chaos surrounding the trial and such. She had just gotten things settled with that and had called her dad at work to ask if he would care to meet up for lunch again before she had another round of wedding shopping with Cat.
Also she guessed that it would be a good time to tell him about her engagement. Patrick had told her that he had asked her mom and Pete for permission before he proposed, but she didn’t know if he had asked her dad as well. So, being a bit of a daddy’s girl, Becca was looking forward to telling her dad her good news. Becca hopped out of her car and walked into the small corner bistro and smiled as she saw her dad already waiting at one of the tables. She rushed over with a bright smile and wrapped her arms around her dad’s neck as he stood to give her a hug.
“Hey, Beckanne. How’s my baby girl doing? You staying out of trouble? What am I saying, of course you are. I should be asking is Peter staying out of trouble.”
Becca laughed and shook her head. She knew that her dad often teased her brother about being such a troublemaker. “You know Petey, Dad. His middle name is trouble. How have you been doing? I hate that I had to cancel the past few weeks, but I’m sure you heard about all the trash with the trial results and everything.”
The elder Wentz nodded with a sad smile. He had heard about Becca’s friend losing her baby, and had been understanding and ever supportive of his little girl. It made him proud to know that she had turned out to be such an upstanding young lady. Although he had noticed a glitter of a ring on her left hand and had already peaked his curiosity, as there was no doubt where Becca got her own from.
“I’m glad to hear she’s better though. Such a terrible thing to happen to someone so young. But speaking of young, is that a ring on your left hand, Beckanne?”
Becca laughed at her dad’s curiosity, knowing full well that she had inherited that particular personality trait from him. She blushed as she nodded. Well at least that answered the fact that either Patrick hadn’t spoken with her dad, or her dad was trying to pull a prank on her.
“Yes, Daddy. Patrick and I are engaged. I hope you’ll approve of him. He even went out of his way to ask Mom and Petey for their permission. I hope you’re not offended.”
Becca’s dad chuckled at her nervous ramblings. After all, what she didn’t know was that Patrick had asked him about proposing a long time ago. But he merely smiled and nodded. He liked Patrick, and thought he was a good guy for his daughter. After all, he wouldn’t have given his blessing to anyone he didn’t think was good enough for his baby girl, and there were high standards to live up to. But with Patrick, he had to admit that Becca did a good job. He liked the younger guy, and knew by the way he had spoken with him that he would take care of his baby girl.
“Beckanne, calm down. Don’t worry. Besides, your young man asked me several weeks ago about proposing. Patrick’s a good guy. So you don’t have to worry about me approving of him. Have you started the planning yet?”
Rebecca laughed and shook her head. She had gotten that question from a few people already. Even after having just been engaged for a few days. “No planning yet. We’re both working on Cat and Ryan’s wedding right now. Then I guess we’ll start with planning ours. I think we’re talking about late October or at least early November. I’m sure that when we start for sure planning, you’ll know all about it.”
Becca’s dad smiled and nodded wisely, knowing that at least his daughter had a good head on her shoulders. He was sure that things with her wedding would be perfect, after all, she was his little princess, and from what he had heard from Patrick, that was just how she would be treated, as royalty. Rebecca noticed a glimmer of something wet in her dad’s eyes and covered her mouth with a hand.
“Daddy, are you going to cry?”
“Just an occupational hazard with being a dad. My little girl has grown up and is getting married. You are still going to finish school, right? I know that Patrick would take care of you and everything, but I know how much you love school and classes. I wouldn’t want you to have any regrets.”
Becca sniffled a little herself at the sight of tears in her dad’s eyes. She reached across the table and took her dad’s hands in her own with a smile. “Daddy, it’s okay. And yes, I’m still going to finish up school. I only have a year left, so it’s not going to be terribly trying. We will probably even put off too much of a honeymoon until a break in school. Besides, Patrick wouldn’t hear of me dropping out with only a year left, even if I wanted to. I’m really glad you like him. You know I couldn’t intentionally hurt you.”
“Of course, my Beckanne. But don’t worry about your weepy father. I seem to have taken a little of your girlish nature for a moment. Now, how about next week we try to get Patrick to join us, if we can work it out? I think it would be fun to sit and chat over a meal with my future son. Well, more than I’ve already talked with him over the years.”
“That sounds like a great idea, Dad. The band is on a break for a little while before they start back on their next set of promotional things. There’s not a tour for a few months at least. So I don’t think Patrick should have too much to juggle around for lunch.”
“Good. Now I have just one question, and you can call me an old fool too attached to his baby girl. But at least please answer me honestly. It’s nothing personal or any attempted attacks on you or Patrick. Just let me ask. Do you really love him? And I mean, really love him.”
Becca blushed as her dad asked her if she loved Patrick. She honestly hadn’t thought about the question. It had just fell into place, and she supposed that it had happened in such a general and slow way, that she hadn’t really realized that small revelation too much. After all, she had always been attached to Patrick, the feelings just growing over the years. She felt a few tears in her eyes as she seemed to suddenly realize that she did really and truly love Patrick with all her heart. It was a little disconcerting as she had never dealt with the same revelation. But she nodded in response to her dad’s question.
“Yeah, I do. It’s crazy, it all just sorta came together so slowly and naturally. I guess I never really had a moment to realize how in love with him I am. God, I don’t know if I’ve even told him that I love him. Not the best of things to be saying when engaged, huh?”
Becca laughed as she saw her dad choke up a little before covering her hands with his own much larger ones. With that answer, he knew that everything would be fine for his little girl. He had been able to tell from the first moment he had talked with Patrick about his daughter how much the young man was in love with her. And now he had the reassurances that she was just as much in love with Patrick as he was. He nodded before reaching for the bill, having to head back to work soon.
“Good. That’s all I needed to know. I’m so happy for you, Beckanne, and I know that you two will be hopelessly happy together. But now I have to get back to work, baby. Call me to let me know about lunch with you and Patrick next time, okay?”
Becca nodded and watched as her dad walked over and paid the bill before leaving the bistro. She saw him wipe his eyes when he thought she couldn’t see, and she had to wipe a few tears from her own eyes. She finished up the sandwich before her and left, quickly calling Patrick to tell him about the lunch, and to make sure she told him that she loved him.
