Carrie sat on the bed as Kelly straddled her lap, kissing her softly. She wasn't sure how long they had been kissing, or when exactly they had moved from the kitchen to Kelly's bedroom, and the truth was, she could care less. Her hands were placed firmly on the bed, as she let Kelly's have free roam. Currently they were sliding up Carrie's arms, barely brushing over her skin as they moved under the short sleeves of her shirt. She kissed the Texan slowly, getting just as slow of a kiss in return. She enjoyed getting to feel the full affect of Kelly's lips against hers, making a mental note of how the shorter girl reacted when kissed softly rather than firmly or whether she preferred it when she took her bottom lip between her teeth and tugged or just nibbled on the corner of instead. What she had come to realize, however, was that it really didn't matter to the girl on her lap--as long as they were kissing, she seemed to be completely happy. "Hey," Carrie whispered as she pulled back a little.
Kelly's eyes opened to look at her.
"I love you."
Kelly took her face in her hands, holding her there as she pressed their lips together firmly.
Carrie giggled as the Texan pulled back, "So I take it you don't love me back, then?"
Kelly laughed, kissing her softly, "I love you so much."
Carrie took in a deep breath as she pressed their foreheads together.
"This feels so good," Kelly shook her head, her thumbs grazing over Carrie's cheekbones, making a path in the flour that she was still covered in.
"You feel so good."
Kelly smiled, "You're not even touching me."
"Your lips are amazing. It's funny how when you don't have your hands to distract you, the kiss itself is so much more powerful."
Kelly bit her bottom lip as she reached out, taking Carrie's hands and bring them to her waist.
"Kell..."
"It's ok," she nodded. "Just...slow, ok?"
"I wasn't lying, you know."
"I know...don't you remember how long it took me to figure out what to do with my hands?"
Carrie smiled.
"It does make the kiss more powerful...which just makes you want to touch the person even more."
"Yea..."
"It's ok to touch me," Kelly nodded. "When I said I wasn't ready, that didn't mean I wanted everything to come to a complete stop, you know? I just wanted to take a couple steps back...go slow..."
"Promise you'll tell me--"
"I'll tell you if we're going too fast."
"I just don't want to upset you and have you pull away completely," Carrie explained.
"I believe we've already determined the fact that you're not gonna let me pull away," she smiled.
"And that makes you happy?"
She shrugged, "Secure...like secure with us."
"What do you mean?"
"I know I pull away, and I know I shut down, but why would I even bother if I know you're not gonna let me?"
Carrie smiled, kissing her, "You're darn right, I'm not gonna let you."
The sound of the front door opening caused both girls to sit up straight.
"Oh shit, come on," Kelly scrambled off of her. She hurried out the room, leading the way back to the kitchen where they were met with Jeanne standing in the middle of the mess they had left.
"So..." Jeanne's eyes scanned over the small kitchen before settling on the two girls.
"We were making cookies," Kelly explained.
"I see that," Jeanne nodded. "Kelly, pick up this mess...Carrie, dear, why don't you go take a shower and get cleaned up. I'll call Jimmy and have him pick up some dinner for us on his way home."
"Yes ma'am," Kelly and Carrie replied quickly.
Jeanne laughed softly as she walked out of the kitchen, mumbling something about children.
Kelly giggled in relief.
"I'll help you clean up," Carrie offered.
"No, my mom was right. You need a shower," Kelly nodded. "You'd probably just make the mess worse with all the flour you're covered in."
"You're the one that said the whole thing," Carrie reminded.
"I take full responsibilty," she smiled at the sound of her mother's voice talking on the phone in the back bedroom. She pulled Carrie more into the kitchen so she could kiss her softly. "Thanks for all this."
"All what?"
"The cookies...the kisses...I needed an afternoon like this."
"Well, I'm glad I could help," Carrie smiled, reaching up and kissing her forehead. "I'm gonna go take a quick shower and the I'll come see if you still need help, ok?"
"Ok," Kelly gave her one more quick kiss before watching her walk out of the kitchen.

Carrie smiled as Kelly passed her the carton of Chinese food from across the table.
"So how was school today?" Jeanne asked curiously.
"It was good," Kelly nodded.
"You had a test today, right?"
"Yes ma'am. Chemistry."
"How'd it go?"
"We'll find out in a few days."
"That doesn't sound good," Jimmy noted, taking a bite of noodles.
"I thought y'all studied?" Jeanne questioned.
Kelly looked at Carrie, hopefully.
"It was a hard test," Carrie explained. "Everybody was complaining about it at the end of class."
"Maybe he'll curve it," Kelly suggested.
"Has he curved any of the grades before?" Jeanne asked.
"No..."
She nodded, turning to Carrie, "So are you getting excited about graduation, Carrie?"
"Yes ma'am," Carrie smiled. "A little nervous too."
"Where are you planning on going to college?" Jimmy asked.
"Um, actually, I haven't decided yet," she admitted.
Kelly found herself listening intently.
"Don't you need to do that soon?" Jeanne asked.
"Well, I've already been accepted to a few...it's just a matter of choosing."
"What are the options?"
"Well, I applied to Northeastern at the beginning of senior year. That's where my old friends from Oklahoma are going, but...a lot has changed since then," she caught Kelly's eye, fighting down the blush she felt rising.
"I'm sure wherever you go, you'll do great," Jeanne nodded.
"And hey, once you finally realize that you're meant to sing, you can just stop this college charade and join me in L.A.," Kelly smiled.
"Don't go putting any of your crazy ideas into her head, Kelly Brianne," Jeanne fussed.
Carrie laughed softly, "Can't say that I wasn't already considering that as an option."
Jeanne shook her head, sighing softly.
"Think of it like this, Mom: at least that way you won't ever have to worry about me going out there all by myself because Carrie will be with me," Kelly pointed out, her smile growing at the thought of Carrie out in L.A. with her.
"I can about imagine how thrilled your mother must get when you tell her you're coming over here, Carrie, with all the ideas this one puts in your head."
Kelly choked on her water.
"I'm sure she thinks highly of me letting my daughter run off to California by herself."
"She is not the type of person whose opinion you should be worrying about," Kelly replied.
"Kelly Brianne," Jeanne scolded.
"No, she's right," Carrie replied. "My mother isn't exactly the best judge in character."
"That's no matter," Jeanne shook her head, eyeing Kelly sternly as she stared down at her plate. "I don't want to ever here you talking like that again. Especially not about your friend's mother...understand?"
"Yes ma'am," Kelly mumbled, looking through her eyelashes at Carrie, unable to hide her smile as she met her eye.
Carrie covered her mouth to stifle a giggle.
"Remind me again why I thought the two of you were mature enought to fly all the way to Alaska by yourselves," Jeanne laughed softly.
"You're letting me go to L.A. by myself," Kelly reminded.
"Yes, well, I think you're too young to be doing that as well, but there's not much I can do about it."
"I'm not a baby anymore, Mom."
"You're still my baby."
Carrie smiled, "You can think of the Alaska trip as a sort of trial run...if Kelly can go a whole three weeks without supervision and manage to not get into trouble, then you have nothing to worry about when she goes to L.A."
Kelly frowned.
"What?"
"Three weeks is a really long time."
Carrie laughed, "I'll keep you on your best behavior."
Kelly bit her tongue, looking away as she felt the tension rising.
"So you've talked to your parents about the trip, Carrie?" Jeanne asked.
"I talked to my dad," Carrie nodded. "He's ok with it and gave me permission to go...he just needs to tell my mother."
"If you need, I can talk to her for you," Jeanne offered. "You know, to let her know all the details and to assure that y'all will be taken care of...mother stuff."
"Thanks," Carrie smiled. "I actually gave my dad your number because he had some questions. Is that ok?"
"Of course," Jeanne nodded, patting her hand as she stood. "Who's ready for dessert?"
"You made dessert?" Kelly questioned.
"Cookis," Jeanne smiled. "And I managed to do it without dousing the kitchen in flour."
"Show off," Kelly laughed.

Carrie smiled as she laid down next to Kelly who was sound asleep on her stomach. She raised a tentative hand, placing it lightly on her bare back. She leaned to her, pressing their lips together softly before pulling back to watch her wake up.
Kelly gave a slow smile as her eyes blinked open, "Hey..."
"Hey," she rubbed her back. "I wanted to kiss you goodnight last night, but your mom was in the living room the whole time...that's all I've been thinking about since I left."
"So if that was my goodnight kiss, where's my goodmorning kiss?"
Carrie giggled, pressing their lips together in another kiss, "How's that?"
"Prety damn good," Kelly nodded, scooting closer.
Carrie wrapped an arm around her, kissing her forehead.
"Care?"
"Yea?"
"Did you mean it last night when you said you had been thinking about coming out to L.A. with me?"
"Yea, and the more I think about it, the more sense it starts to make," she admitted.
"Yea?"
She nodded, "If I want to be a singer, what's the point of me going to college? What are they going to teach me, that I won't learn better with hands on experience?"
Kelly smiled, "You want to be a singer?"
"I've always thought about it...just didn't think I could do it."
"You can," she quickly replied.
Carrie smiled, kissing her softly, "Plus, how am I supposed to be with you when I'm in a different state than you?"
Kelly's eyes lit up as she wrapped her arms around Carrie's neck, hugging her tightly.
Carrie laughed, her heart speeding up as she hugged her back, nothing but bare skin against her arms. She tilted her head down, kissing the texan's shoulder.
Kelly blushed lightly as she pulled back just enough to be able to look at her, "Sorry."
"I'm not complaining," Carrie replied, forcing her eyes to stay on the shorter girl's face.
"Yea, but I say I want to go slow, and then I just throw myself at you, half nekked."
Carrie giggled.
"Yes, I said nekked," Kelly laughed.
"And besides, I like a half naked you in my arms...I like the way it feels."
"I'm not making it harder for you?"
"You are," Carrie allowed. "But the way it feels is definitely worth it."
"You haven't looked down yet."
"I don't have permission to yet...do I?"
Kelly blushed again.
Carrie kissed her gently, "Didn't think so, and that's ok. I'm perfectly happy with just holding you. I was perfectly happy with just holding you when you were clothed."
"No you're not. You want to have sex."
"Yes, I do...but that doesn't mean that I wouldn't gladly just hold you for the rest of eternity if that was all I was allowed to do."
Kelly smiled, kissing her, "I love you."
"I love you too," she returned her smile.
"And I...I want to sleep with you too...I do, I just..."
"I know," Carrie assured. "It's ok. We'll get back to that point, I know that. My only concern is you--that you're happy and content and safe--that's it. Plus, I mean..."
Kelly stroked her cheek at the hint of nerves in Carrie's voice.
"Each day, I love you more and more, and I know that's really corny and I know--" she stopped when Kelly placed a finger over her lips.
"It's not corny," she assured. "I know exactly what you mean."
Carrie took a calming breath, "If I love you more today than I did yesterday, then I can't even begin to imagine how much I'm going to love you when we finally get to that point when we're ready, and it's just gonna be that much more special."
Kelly wrapped her arms around her neck tighter, pulling her close as she kissed her firmly.
Carrie held her against her as they broke the kiss, both breathing slightly heavier than normal. She rested their foreheads together, "You should probably get ready for school."
"I can't just go like this?"
"No," Carrie replied quickly.
"Is that a hint of jealousy?"
"Yes," Carrie nodded surely. "I'm the only one that gets to see you like this."
"Even if you aren't actually seeing me?"
"Yes. It's the thought that counts."
Kelly smiled, kissing her cheek as she hugged her again, pressing their cheeks together lightly, "Don't worry. You are the only person in the world I want to be like this with."
"Yea, that totally earns you an extra five minutes of cuddling. Who cares if we're late to school?"
Kelly giggled, "Have I mentioned lately that I love you?"
Carrie laughed, kissing her shoulder again, "Yes, but every time you say it, my stomach gets all butterfly-ey, so mention it away."
"Ok, well, I love you, I love you, I love you," Kelly repeated, pulling back to be able to place kisses all over her face.
