chapter 6
Hi, i wanna apologize for taking so long updating this story but i've been working on two stories at once, is hould be able to update faster as soon as i've gotten the last chapter of vampires out of the way!
dedicated as always to my beautiful karin who's my inspiration to keep writing!
Mige didn't think he'd ever stop grinning like an idiot. He had his perfect, beautiful boyfriend back and he couldn't be happier. The moment he got home he switched his computer on so he'd be there when Ville looged on and went and had a shower, but was suprised when he returned to his bedroom to find Ville still wasn't online.
Deciding that he must be only just getting in from school, Mige went downstairs to greet his parents and have some dinner. He chatted happily throughout the meal and his parents smiled at each other as they watched their son practically beaming with joy. He'd just finished eating and was helping his mum with the washing up when the phone rang and he ran to get it, thinking that it might be Ville.
"Hello?"
"Hello, this is Anita Valo, is that Mige?"
"Yeah this is Mige, what's up?"
"I was just wondering if Ville was at yours because he's not home yet and I asked him to be home as soon as possible tonight and I'd like to know how long he's going to be."
Mige's heart plummeted in fear but he kept his tone calm, not wanting to worry Anita until he knew what was going on. "No, he's not here, I'm not sure where he is."
"He's probably at one of his other friends houses and forgot the time, I just wish he'd let me know sometimes." She sighed good naturedly.
"I'll tell him that if I see him." Mige choked out, trying to keep the conversation upbeat.
"Thank you honey, see you soon."
As soon as she'd hung up, Mige grabbed his coat and headed for the door. He'd almost made it when his mothers voice behind him stopped him.
"Where do you think you're going?"
He turned to see his parents looking at him disapprovingly. "I just have to go out for a bit."
"I don't think so young man, I haven't seen you touch your homework yet and you have school tomorrow." His father said firmly.
"But I have to see Ville." He pleaded.
"Mikko, you can see your boyfriend tomorrow at school, right now you need to do as your father says."
Mige knew the only way he was going to be allowed to look for Ville was to tell them the truth, or at least some of it. So, taking a reassuring breath, he prepared himself for the onslaught of questions from his parents.
"I have to go. I left him at the corner of the road that he turns down to go home because he had to go straight home today, but that was Mrs Valo on the phone and he still hasn't come home yet. I think he might be hurt and I'm not gonna sit around doing nothing when I don't know if he's safe or not."
"What did Anita say when you told her that he wasn't here?"
"She just said that he was probably at one of his other friends houses but I know he's not and I'm really scared for him."
His parents exchanged a glance before turning back to him. "Ok, we'll take the car and drive the route that he takes home and see if we see anything, how about that?" Sven said reassuringly.
"Yeah that's great, thank you so much." Mige babbled nervously, pulling on his coat.
They piled into the car and and started down the road, following Mige's directions and every second that they didn't see anything, Mige got more and more worried. Just as he thought he was going to break down from the sick nervousness inside him, they drove past the park and he spotted a figure laying on the floor by the gates. It seemed his parents had spotted it too because, before he could say anything, his dad had pulled over and shut off the engine.
Mige got out of the car and raced over to him, letting out a whimper of horror as he saw the blood, wounds and still, pale body of his boyfriend. He couldn't touch him, couldn't bring himself to find out if he was dead. All he could do was stand in his mothers embrace as his father checked for a pulse.
"He can't be dead, please don't let him be dead." He muttered over and over again, as Riitta tightened her arms around him as support in case they had lost him. It seemed like forever before his dad turned back to them.
"He's still alive but barely. His pulse is very weak, we need t call an ambulance."
"Why can't we just take him in the car? It'll be quicker." Mige said desperately, not wanting to wait to be able to help.
"We can't move him in case we make him worse Mikko, you know that. The ambulance won't take long."
Mige hadn't even noticed his mother grabbing her cellphone and calling for an ambulance, he was too intently focused on Ville. Sitting down on the ground next to him, he covered his boyfriends slim body with his coat in a futile attempt to get some warmth into him. He was in such a state of shock that when he finally came out of his stupor, he found that he was already at the hospital and sitting in the waiting room with his parents and Ville's, with the doctor approaching them.
Doctor Addams, as he introduced himself, sat down in front of them and folded his hands together in a way that didn't look good to Mige's frame of mind.
"Mr and Mrs Valo, would you like me to talk to you about this in private?"
"No that's fine" Anita said weakly. "They can stay, I know they're as worried as we are."
"Ok. Well the good news is that Ville will recover nicely if he rests and doesn't do anything that requires too much movement for a while but there is something that you need to know."
All four parents looked extremely worried at the doctors serious tone of voice but Mige just lowered his head in defeat, knowing that if they'd told someone straight away there was a chance that it wouldn't have happened again.
"The type of injuries your son sustained can only be caused in one way. I'm incredibly sorry to have to tell you this but it seems that your son was raped, and it looks like it wasn't the first time it had happened either. He's pretty torn up but the tears will heal fairly soon as long as he's careful."
The doctor left and everyone sat in silence until Anita couldn't hold back a sob of anguish and Mige looked up to find everyone watching him.
"What? You better not think I did it." He said horrified.
"No of course we don't Mige." Ville's dad said comfortingly. "We just need to know if you know anything."
Mige nodded silently, a couple of tears sliding down his face. "I'm so sorry. I only found out yesterday and he didn't want me to tell anyone. I shouldn't have listened to him, I should have made him tell someone."
"What happened to him? Who's been doing this to him?" Someone asked, although his eyes were so blurred with tears, he couldn't tell who it was.
"I can't tell you anything, it's not my place to tell and I don't know that much anyway. You need to talk to Ville about it." He bowed his head again and refused to speak to anyone, lost in his own little prison of grief and shame.
*******************
Ville woke to a lot of pain and a bright, sterile room that made him squint his eyes against the harsh lighting. It took him a few moments to remember where he was and a few more moments to remember WHY he was in the hospital in the first place. He automatically tried to sit up but groaned aloud as searing pain shot through him and he fell back against the pillows.
Thinking hard, he became worried when he couldn't remember how he'd gotten to the hospital and he tried desperately to remember anything after Bam had left him but it all remained a blank. Removing the tubes from his hands and ignoring the protesting beeping of the machines by his bed, Ville slowly and painfully got out of bed and put on the hospital dressing gown that was on th chair by the door.
Barely able to move, he shuffled out of the door and into the hallway hunched over almost double from the pain but determined to find out how he got there. He hadn't gone far before he heard Mige's voice calling his name in disbelief.
"Ville? What the hell are you doing out of bed? Are you insane?"
A protective arm wrapped gently around him and he looked into his boyfriends tear stained, concerned face and both their parents standing close behind him.
"I just wanted to find out how I got here." He whimpered, close to tears.
Immediately Mige's expression turned contrite. "I'm sorry kulta, I didn't mean to snap. I'm just worried you're gonna do yourself more damage walking around like this. Let's get you back into bed and I'll tell you how you got here."
Ville allowed himself to be gently guided back into his room and bed, their parents following behind them, hovering like anxious looking vultures, or at least that's what they looked like to Ville's tired, confused mind.
As he slid gingerly under the covers of the starchy hospital bed, his parents stepped forward, almost shoving Mige out the way in their haste.
"Kulta what happened?"
"The doctor told us you've been raped and that it's happened before, why didn't you tell us?"
"Who was it?"
"Why were you too scared to tell anyone?"
The questions kept coming and everyone was talking over each other in a bid to get heard making Ville feel even more disorientated than he was already.
"Why can't you all just shut up?" He exploded before he'd even realized the words had left his mouth. "I can't think straight, I don't know how I got here and I'm in a lot of pain. All of you talking and hurling questions at me isn't helping."
Glancing at each other sheepishly, the room was silenced and they all found places to sit and give Ville some much needed breathing space.
"I think you need to tell them what's been going on." Mige suggested gently. "They can help so it won't happen again."
"It's not going to happen again. He promised me it wouldn't." Ville said assuredly.
"He promised you? You're taking his word for that?" Mige asked incredulously. "He's a psycho, you can't trust him."
"He's going to go to a insitute and get help, I managed to talk to him about it all. He is sorry, he helped me get dressed and he was going to walk me home to make sure I got there safely but I told him not to."
"Will somebody please explain what's going on." Anita broke in impatiently.
"There's a boy at our school." Ville began haltingly. "He fell in love with me but because I love Mige instead of him, he got angry. He's been doing this to me since, trying to force me to love him back."
Their parents sat silent, sickened that someone like that was roaming around the school free, while Ville was laying in a hospital bed.
"We need to call the police." Ville's father said decisively, getting out of his chair.
"NO." Ville shouted. He tried to sit up but Mige clung to him, trying to keep him still to stop him from hurting himself. "No, I don't want you to do that. He promised he'd get help and I believe him. It's all very well you lot sitting there and judging my decision and telling me not to believe him but don't you think that, out of all of us, I know him better than anyone?"
Kari had sat back down at the insistance of Anita who was getting worried at her sons distress. "We know that darling but we're just worried that he won't, we only want to protect you."
"Then just trust my decision for now and if he doesn't do as he promised, then you can call the police, it's not like I want this to happen to me again, I just don't want him imprisoned, he's too young, he can change I believe he can."
Nobody wanted to let it go, it was obvious. They all wanted to fight, to hunt Bam down and make him spend the rest of his life behind bars for what he'd done but, to Ville's relief, everyone reluctantly agreed to his request, although Mige took a long time to mumble out the agreement he was waiting for.
"You still haven't told me how I got here. The only thing I remember is getting to the gates of the park, then everything's a blank."
"Your mum called my house and said you hadn't come home so me, mum and dad came out to look for you because I thought something might be wrong." Mige explained, stroking Ville's soft hair. "You really scared us all."
"I'm sorry." Ville said sleepily. "I didn't mean to."
Any response Mige would have given was cut off by a nurse entering the room.
"I'm sorry but you all need to leave please. Mr Valo needs to get some sleep and he's already had enough excitement for one day."
Reluctantly, they all got up and left the room, hugging Ville goodbye as they left.
************
Ville was in hospital for a few days, before he was able to go home. He was steadily getting better but was still too hurt to go to school so Mige always made sure to go round Ville's classes every day and pick up his classwork so he wouldn't fall behind.
The school had been told that Ville had been in an accident so they very obliging with giving the homework to Mige but thankfully, in respect for Ville and his family, they never asked questions.
Getting all Ville's work ment that Mige always left school later than everyone else, not that he minded missing all the walking cliche's as they left the school grounds.
He walked over to his car, his pride and joy despite the fact that it was ancient and full of holes and rust, putting the school books on his back seat. He was about to get into the drivers seat when he spotted someone else emerging from the schools front doors. Bam.
Mige knew he should just drive away, forget about it and instead go to see his boyfriend, but he couldn't. Blood boiling with rage, he slammed the car door shut and stormed over to the unsuspecting boy, grabbing his arm and throwing him against the nearest wall.
"What the fuck are you doing here you bastard? You should be locked up in an institute somewhere, or at least that's what you told Ville." He growled.
Bam looked back at him, fear, loathing and something indescribable in his eyes. "He told you everything then." He stated calmly.
"Of course he did, even if he didn't it would be kind of hard to hide it now don't you think? Especially considering you put him in hospital."
"What?" Bam gasped. "I didn't hurt him that badly."
"Like hell you didn't. You tore him up so bad inside that he was in hospital for a week and he's still in too much pain to come to school. I hope your happy with yourself." Mige was having a hard time controlling himself. He wanted to shout and hurt Bam badly enough that he'd know the level of pain he put Ville through but he knew by doing that he'd draw attention to exactly what happened to him and he couldn't do that.
"I never meant to hurt him that badly. I'm doing as he asked though, I've found an institute. That's why I'm here, I came to tell them I'm dropping out of school. I'm going to be staying at St James's mental institute until I recover, can you tell him I'm sorry?"
"No. You don't have any right to be asking favours of me and I'd never tell him that because he's a sweet trusting person and I don't want him to think that maybe there's a person under the monster because I know that there's not. You're a disgusting, evil sadistic monster through and through."
Mige suddenly heard the sound of footsteps coming in their direction and turned to leave. The anger burning inside him wouldn't go away with some form of relief though, so turning back to the skater, Mige pulled his arm back and let his fist fly, all his anger, frustration and dispair making his punch twice as powerful. He felt the delicate bones in Bam's nose crunch under his fist and he knew that it was broken if not completely shattered and it brought a grim smile to his face.
Leaving Bam on the floor, cradling his bleeding, broken nose, he turned away again continuing on his way to his car and ignoring Bam's whimpers of pain.
