Chapter 6 – My Angel In Disguise

“Morning angel” Jackie said as she walked into the room and gave Orlando a kiss on his cheek. “How are you feeling today?”

Orlando  smiled and took her hand in his. He had been in hospital for the past week now and Jackie hadn’t left him alone for more than a few hours each day to get some sleep. For that matter, neither had Viggo or Sean. They were all keeping an eye on him and helping him get back on his feet.

“I’m better” he replied “The doctor says that he may be able to discharge me today provided that I stay in bed for at least three more days and that I get physical therapy for my arm.”

“That’s great news” Jackie said as she carefully hugged him to her. “Now you just relax and we’ll get you home and in bed as soon as Doctor Parker clears you.”

“I can’t go back there Jackie” Orlando said as tears started to run down his cheeks “What if they come looking for me again?”

“Oh baby” Jackie said as she took his face in her hands and made him look her in the eyes. “Daddy and Sean are going to look after you. They are on their way as we speak to go and get your stuff. And as soon as my place is ready then you come and live with me.”

Orlando  nodded and smiled as he leaned forward and gently kissed Jackie, glad to be loved and looked after.

“Is this the place?” Viggo asked as he looked at the number on the door.

“It’s what Orlando gave us” Sean said “Only one way to find out.” He took the key from his pocket and unlocked the door. “We’re at the right place” he said and then walked into the flat with Viggo behind him.

“Where the hell have you been” a voice yelled from the kitchen “I thought …” His words froze when he saw the two men standing in the sitting room.

“So you must be Matthew” Viggo said as he looked at Orlando’s flatmate, his eyes flashing with anger.

“Who wants to know?” Matthew asked as he looked at them “And what the fuck are you doing with Orlando’s keys. I told the fucking sod to stop leaving his stuff lying around.” “What the …?”

Before he could utter another word, Sean had moved forward and pinned him against the stairs with his arm.

“Now you listen to me you stupid little fuck” Sean seethed “Orlando’s in hospital at the moment because of you and your little habit. We came to get his stuff so consider this his final notice. And if you ever came within ten feet of him I will make sure that you disappear off the face of this earth. Is that clear?”

Matthew nodded and Sean ordered him to show them to Orlando’s room and then make sure he stays the hell away from them.

Viggo walked into the room and looked around. He smiled sadly as he saw the photos of Orlando and Maude on his table. The young man has lost so much already and Viggo couldn’t stand to see him hurt any longer. “Sean” he called as he picked up the photos and placed them in a box.

“Yes love” Sean said as he came walking out of the on-suite bathroom with a toiletry bag in his hand.

“Do you think that we may be able to get Orlando another puppy when he and Jackie have settled down in the new house? I think it might help a bit with his recovery.”

“I think it’s a wonderful idea baby” Sean said as he wrapped his arms around Viggo’s waist and kissed him on the side of his head. “Now come on, we still have to finish packing up the last of Orlando’s things and then head to my house to get one of the spare rooms ready from him.”

Viggo nodded and then continued to pack up the photos, an idea forming in his head as he got a good look at some of them and realised that Orlando showed some talent behind a camera.

About three hours later they left the apartment with Orlando’s things. They decided to keep the key for in case they forgot something and either them or Orlando needed to go back to get it.

“There we go” the nurse said as she carefully undid the bandage on Orlando’s arm and removed the stitches.

He grimaced slightly but kept still, knowing that he would be able to go home as soon as she was finished and the doctor had examined him a last time.

Jackie was outside in the hallway, giving Orlando some privacy while he was being taken care of. She smiled as she saw Sean and her father walking towards her. Sean was carrying a wrapped box and Jackie wondered what was inside.

“Did you get everything?” she asked and the nodded.

“Well, we hope so” Viggo said as he gave his daughter a tight hug. “But we kept the key for if there is something that needs to be fetched that we forgot. Where’s Orlando?”

“His stitches are being removed” Jackie replied “I decided to wait out here while it’s being done. Have had my dose of blood to last me a lifetime.” Her eyes teared up slightly and Viggo hugged her to him. “I nearly lost him daddy” she said “I nearly lost a wonderful guy.”

“I know honey” Viggo said “But it’s over now and he’s safe. We’re going to take care of him and he’ll be up and about in no time.”

Jackie nodded just as the nurse came walking out of Orlando’s room.

“He’s all good to go” she said “The doctor called down and had him checked out. He just needs some help getting dressed.”

“You go help him Vig” Sean said “I’ll quickly go down and sign the necessary papers and bring the car around. You and Jackie take care of him and give him his present.”

Viggo nodded and with a kiss to Sean’s cheek, walked into the room with Jackie.

“Hello Orlando” he said and the young man smiled when he saw that Jackie was back as well.

“Hello sir” he said. He patted the bed next to him and Jackie sat down, taking his hand in hers.

“Here” Viggo said as he placed the box on Orlando’s lap “It’s a little get well present from me and Sean.”

Orlando was about to protest but a look from Viggo told him that he wanted to buy Orlando something. Orlando opened the box and gasped when he saw what it was. He placed his hands inside and lifted the contents out. “Wow” he said as he looked at the camera. “Thank you sir. But how did you know?”

“I saw the pictures in your flat and decided that you can help Jackie with her shoot. I’m eager to see the world through your point of view.”

Orlando nodded and then allowed Jackie to put it back in the box.

Viggo pulled the curtains round his bed and proceeded to help him get dressed while Jackie packed his things into his overnight bag. She also gathered the flowers and gifts and was ready to go when Viggo opened the curtains again.

Soon after the nurse entered the room with a wheelchair and they helped Orlando to sit down.

Jackie slung the bag over her shoulder and handed Orlando the gifts to keep on his lap. He nodded and then she started to push him out of the room.

“No you take care of yourself young man” the doctor and nurses said as the met them in the hall.

“I will” Orlando said “And thank you for everything.”

They all said goodbye and Jackie pushed Orlando the entrance where Sean was waiting form them.

He packed everything in the car and then helped Viggo settle Orlando in the front seat since it hurt his ribs to be squished into the back. With everything good to go, Viggo and Jackie hopped into the back seat and they drove to Sean’s house where Orlando would be staying.

“Thank you” Orlando said again before his head nodded and the drifted of to sleep.

Jackie just smiled and kissed him on the cheek, glad that he was okay and still in her life. He was her angel in disguise, that she knew.
