Chapter 6
“And what? You think that will mean anything to him? You think he’s going to suddenly realize he loves you? That just because you say something everything will be fine?” Shinya’s words rang in the vocalist’s head as he walked up the stairs to Kaoru’s apartment.
“What the fuck has gotten into Shinya? One moment I can talk to him about anything and the next thing I know, he’s talking to me like I’m a little kid!” Kyo stated as he turned the corner. “It doesn’t matter. I’m still going to tell Kaoru--”
“Tell me what?” The blonde was caught off guard when he saw the purple haired guitarist standing outside. The vocalist stood there a moment, dumbstruck. He hadn’t expected Kaoru to be outside, let alone within earshot of what he was saying. “Don’t just stand there… say something. What were you going to tell me?” Kaoru said as he threw an arm around the shorter man’s shoulders. Something about him seemed different. The harsh tone that was usually carried in his voice was gone, replaced with curiosity. This put Kyo into a tight position because now he -had- to say something.
“Um…” Kyo lowered his eyes and focused on the ground as Kaoru opened the door to his home and took them into the living room. Kyo sat down on the couch, and Kaoru sat next to him, staring intently. It made the younger somewhat nervous to be watched so closely by one of his best friends. “I’ve been wanting to tell you something for a while now.”
“Okay. What is it?” the guitarist leaned back so he was more comfortable, but didn’t take his gaze from Kyo’s face.
The vocalist sighed, somewhat lost for exactly what to say. “I… I… Iloveyou…” He said it so fast and so quietly that Kaoru hadn’t caught what he had said. He sat back up and put his head so that he would be able to at least hear what Kyo said, if indeed he said it the same way, and then he could decipher it from there.
“What was that? You said it so quickly and I could barely hear you.” Kyo looked at him for a moment, and then resorted to looking at the floor again.
“I- Iloveyou.” once again, the words came out as one, but this time, Kaoru caught them, and knew exactly what he meant.
The older man sat looking at Kyo for a moment, the blonde refusing to see his face.
“No you don’t.” the harsh quality of Kaoru’s voice was back. Kyo looked up into his face to see that it was contorted into something which resembled disgust.
“Yes, I do. I lov--” Kyo was cut short when he found one hand on his throat and another over his mouth.
“No, you don’t. Don’t ever think otherwise. Why? Because it’s disgusting. More so, I don’t love you. If that doesn’t open your eyes, then maybe this will.” at that, Kaoru kissed Kyo hard. So hard that the vocalist was fighting to break away, only to find that the back of the couch wouldn’t allow it. Kaoru pulled back, leaving Kyo panting under the guitarist‘s hand. “If you ever try anything like that again, I’ll make you wish you -had- died a couple months ago. Don’t be so disillusioned as to think we could be together. You belong to someone else. I think you know who I’m talking about.” Kyo’s eyes filled with tears and he fought to get up. To get away from Kaoru. To be alone. Kaoru released the blonde, and the younger man ran out the door, not wanting another minute in the presence of the guitarist.
Kyo ran from the building. Past his own apartment. Past his friends’ apartments. And into the park. By the time he reach a place to stop, his chest, legs, and throat were in more pain than his heart. Kyo sat down on the grass, and cried for nearly two hours. Finally, when he was so cold that his entire body had become numb, he went back to his home, and crawled into bed. He knew he would have to be at practice the next day, or Kaoru would come looking for him. And that was something he really didn’t want to deal with.

When Toshiya got to his apartment, he found that all the lights were out. ‘Die must already be asleep.’ He thought sadly, opening the door quietly so as not to wake his friend.
He carefully shut the door, took off his shoes and started for his room. As he walked past the couch, he noticed that Die was sitting there, still awake.
Toshiya sat on the couch next to Die. He was unsure about if he could do anything at all. He knew that if someone made Die angry, he usually stayed angry for a LONG while. Die acted as though he didn’t notice Toshiya sit down beside him, which made the bassist a little sad.
After careful consideration, Toshiya snuggled up to Die and rested his head on the other man’s shoulder. Once again, Die acted like he didn’t notice, even though it was tearing him up inside to see Toshiya so hurt by his reaction...or lack there of.
“Die? Why won’t you forgive me?” Toshiya spoke quietly, afraid that if he spoke too loudly, Die would hear the hurt in his voice.
“Who said I wouldn’t forgive you?” Die said in an indifferent tone.
“Die... You know I love you, right?” as he said this, a tear fell down Toshiya’s cheek and hit Die’s chest, causing the red head to begin to feel really bad.
Die had finally had enough. He grabbed the bassist by the shoulders and quickly got out from between him and the couch, pinning him to the furniture. Toshiya looked at the guitarist, horrified and unable to move. Die’s face softened at the sight of another tear on his band mate’s face. Gently, he wiped it away, then he lowered his head down to the still tense bassist. His eyes slowly closed as his lips touched Toshiya’s.
Toshiya was in shock. This was far from what he had expected from his friend, and roommate, and yet...it made him happy. Slowly, his body began to relax. Before he could stop himself, he began to return Die’s kiss. Die hadn’t been expecting this, but wasn’t going to complain as their tongues began to play with each other and explore the other’s mouth. Die slowly pulled back and stared at Toshiya, who’s eyes were now closed. He opened his eyes and looked up at Die.
“Why did you stop?” Die slowly shook his head, and began to lift the bassist to his feet.
“Come on.” Holding on to Toshiya’s hand, he led him down the hall and into his bedroom, not even bothering to turn on a light. Through the window, the moonlight gave an exceptional glow to the bassist’s already beautiful face that Die found even harder to resist.
Die pulled Toshiya close to his body and began to gently kiss his neck. Toshiya could only let out a small whimper as his heart began to beat faster, causing his temperature to rise.
“Totchi...” Die said, between kisses. It took everything Toshiya had to give the other man a sign that he had heard. Die stopped again and sat the bassist on the edge of his bed, and he kneeled on the floor in front of him. “I love you. I always have...ever since I first met you. All these years, I have been waiting for the moment that I would be able to tell you, and now it is here. I hope... I hope you are not upset that I waited so long. I should have said something sooner, but--” he was cut off by the younger man pressing his own lips to Die’s. It was Die’s turn to be momentarily shocked. Die returned the kiss, having come back to reality. This time, it was Toshiya who stopped.
“What’s wrong?” Die was starting to get somewhat confused. Just a moment ago, he was ready, but now he seemed to be scared to go on. “Did I say something wrong?” That was the only thing Die could think was the reason for Toshiya’s behavior.
“No, it’s just.... I... I don’t want....” the bassist paused for a moment, trying to think of the best way to say what he was thinking...or really, fearing. “I just don’t want to be hurt....” another tear slid it’s way down Toshiya’s face, and Die wiped it away, shaking his head in disbelief at what he had just heard.
“I don’t want to hurt you, either. We don’t have to do this. I will not ask you to do anything you don’t want to do, okay?” Toshiya smiled slightly and nodded. “But, regardless of what happens tonight, will... you... be my... boy.. boyfriend?” As Die asked the question, he found himself looking down at the floor, too scared to see what Toshiya’s reaction would be. When he didn’t receive an answer, Die looked up to find a very confused Toshiya.
“Were you trying to ask me...or the floor? Personally, I would love to be your boyfriend, but I’m not so sure the floor feels the same way.” Toshiya showed his big smile, in turn making Die smile.
Die reached up and kissed Toshiya again, this time pushing the bassist back and further onto the bed. Die’s hands shook as he began to unbutton Toshiya’s shirt, but his mouth never left the other’s.
Growing a little impatient, Toshiya broke away and pulled the half buttoned shirt over his head, then proceeded to remove Die’s shirt in the same manner. Die was suddenly very glad there was no light, because he felt like his face matched the red of his hair at that point.
“Are you sure you are okay with this?” Die wanted to be sure that he wasn’t pressuring the bassist into anything he didn’t want to do.
“Yes.” As he answered, Toshiya wrapped his bare arms around Die’s naked back and pulled the guitarist down on top of him before kissing him once again. Goose bumps shot down his back as Die felt Toshiya’s shaking hands begin to work at unfastening the guitarist’s pants. Die shivered slightly before going down to kiss Toshiya’s chest.
His mouth covered Toshiya’s right nipple and he gently sucked on it for a moment, before biting it slightly a couple of times, then he went to the left and did the same to that nipple, kissing the pale soft skin on the way. Toshiya slipped his hands into Die’s unbuttoned pants and began to caress him. When Toshiya first made contact with Die, the guitarist bit a little harder than he meant to on the other’s nipple causing the bassist to let out a whimper.
“I’m sorry.” Die whispered, pulling back to see the bassist’s face.
“It’s okay.” the younger man stated, his hands returning to Die’s back to pull him down once again, but the guitarist didn’t move.
“No.. I’m sorry… I can’t.” the red head lowered his eyes shamefully. “Not yet.”
“Oh. That’s okay.” Toshiya said, sitting up before giving Die one more kiss. Die watched silently as the bassist got up and put on his shirt, then walked to the door.
“Totchi?” the blue haired man stopped, his hand hovering over the door knob.
“Yeah?”
“Will you sleep… in here?” the guitarist asked, not wanting to spend another minute alone. Toshiya turned to face him. “Please?”
The bassist nodded, smiling and crawled back into the bed. Die soon joined him under the covers, his arm wrapped around his waist.
“Good night.”
“Aishiteru.” as the guitarist said this, he felt Toshiya grow momentarily tense.
“Aishiteru, Daisuke.”
