I think that nothing can fly with this broken wing…

Benji’s Pov
I stand downstairs for a few moments longer, my lips still tingling from my encounter with Billy. Dropping my shirt, I rush upstairs after him. I follow the sound of his sobs and find him sitting in the living room staring at the empty t.v. screen, tears running down his cheeks.
“I’m so, so…sorry…I…I thought…that I was ready.” It hurts so much seeing his tears, knowing that I was the source of his pain. I turn and grab my keys and jacket. I head out of that palace of torment and get into my car, slamming the door. I light a cigarette and start the car.
Pulling out of the driveway, I take one last look up to the house. I see his pale tear streaked face in the window and it makes the urge to get away even stronger. I speed out onto the street, trying to get farther from that pool of endless despair.
The first raindrops start to fall a few moments away from the house. I roll down the window to let the smoke out. I have no idea where I’m going, I just know that I had to get away.
The rain starts to fall harder and I’m forced to turn on the wipers. I feel the car start to hydroplane and I make the mistake of trying to correct the steering. I lose control of the car and watch horrified as it heads toward a tree.
‘Oh God, I’m gonna die.’ The car slams into the tree, throwing me into the steering wheel as the windshield shatters, sending glass into my unprotected flesh. The pain is unbearable and I can feel my consciousness starting to fade.
I think about Billy’s smiling face as I slip into the comfortable darkness.
