and, 70032, thanks so much for commenting, it means a lot. and violence, lol, i was a total band geek too. i was actually in our high school's marching band for five years, but i didn't do it my senior year. (lol, no, i wasn't in high school for like six years, i was just asked to join my seventh grade year.)

Carrie honked the horn as she waited outside the apartment building, waiting for the bubbly Texan. She heard someone shout an obscenity at her, and she lowered in her seat, hiding herself from view. She glanced at her the clock on her dashboard and frowned, deciding that she should probably go wake the girl up.
Carrie slipped out of her car, finding her way to the stairs and up to the second floor. She eventually located number 235, and she knocked on the door loudly.
She waited a few minutes and didn't get an answer. She knocked again, this time calling out, "Kelly!"
The door opened quickly, and Carrie walked in to find Kelly walking away from her in a pair of boxer shorts, pulling a tank top over her head.
Carrie looked away, closing the door behind her.
"What time is it?" she heard Kelly's voice, and she followed it into the small kitchen where Kelly was standing, drinking a glass of orange juice. She was once again barefoot, and her hair was all over the place.
"Seven," Carrie replied.
"We don't have to be there for another thirty minutes," Kelly pointed out. "I could've slept for another fifteen easy."
"I wasn't waiting until we were already late to wake you," Carrie said.
Kelly shrugged, setting the glass in the sink and walking away. Carrie followed her down the narrow hall and into her room. She noticed Kelly's bed wasn't made, yet it didn't quite look slept in either. Then she turned to the desk in the corner to find pages of notes and math homework splayed out all over the place.
"You sleep at your desk often?" Carrie asked, watching as Kelly gathered her stuff, shoving it into her booksack messily.
"Late night," Kelly replied as Carrie went to sit on the foot of the bed. "Careful."
Carrie raised an eyebrow, but turned to find a small puppy laying where she was about to sit, "Aw...What's his name?"
"I don't know," Kelly shrugged. "Found him like two days ago. My mom said I have to find his owner, though."
"Aw, but he's so cute," Carrie smiled, scratching behind his ears. "He's ok staying here by himself all day?"
"Yea, I put down a couple puppy pads in the bathroom. He knows how to use them, so he must belong to somebody," Kelly said, looking at him sadly. She shook the emotion off before rummaging through her closet. "Um, do you mind, you know, covering your eyes for a bit?" Kelly asked over her shoulder.
"Oh, yea, sorry," Carrie replied, placing a hand over her eyes, allowing Kelly to change in privacy.
"Alright," Kelly announced a couple minutes later.
Carrie put her hand down to find Kelly slipping on a pair of Converse and grabbing her book sack. "Just let me brush my teeth real quick, and we can go, ok?"
Carrie nodded, getting up as Kelly walked out of the room. She made her way back down the hall, past the kitchen and into the living room. The apartment wasn't much to look at, but with all the pictures that lined the walls and tables and such, it was definitely homey.
"Let's go," Kelly smiled, walking out of the bathroom as she pulled her hair up.
Carrie returned it, following Kelly out the door and down the steps, "Shouldn't you lock your door?"
"Not really," Kelly shook her head. "One time I locked myself out and had to wait outside for like four hours before my mom got home. Thankfully I didn't have to work that day. Besides, you saw it, there's not much someone would want to take anyway."
"I thought it was nice," Carrie commented, unlocking her car door.
Kelly shrugged, "To me...it's home. To outsiders...it's trash. It's okay, I know that."
Carrie was caught off guard by her bluntness, and wasn't sure what to say.
"So, you were able to finish unpacking last night?" Kelly asked, smiling once more.
"Um, yea," Carrie nodded, surprised at the sudden change of pace. "All settled in."
"Good, cause I wanted to ask you a favor."
"Wow, known me for an entire day, and you're already asking for favors?" Carrie teased.
Kelly laughed, "Let's just say I move fast."
Carrie laughed with her, "Alright, what do you need?"
"I promised my mom I'd put up some flyers about the dog after school today, and if I do it by myself, I'll never be done in time for work, so..."
"I'll help," Carrie smiled.
"You rock."

"Wow," Ashley grinned as Kelly and Carrie walked up to her. "Look who actually decided to wake up before school started."
"It's her fault," Kelly grumbled, motioning to Carrie.
"You managed to get her up?" Ashley asked, raising an eyebrow.
Carrie shrugged, "I'm just talented I guess."
Kelly laughed, glad to see Carrie finally starting to relax around her friends. The girl definitely seemed like someone that would fit in well with them.
"Talked to Jebbie last night," Kelly commented.
"You worked another double?" Ashley asked.
"Yea," she shrugged. "And she wanted to know if we wanted to have another girl's night this weekend."
"Heck yea," Ashley nodded. "I'll tell Mary and them."
"Cool," Kelly nodded. "Y'all ready to go to English?"
+++++++++++
"So, you know where you're going?" Kelly asked, sneaking up behind Carrie as they walked out of first period.
"Um, yea," she nodded, unsurely.
"Right or left?" Kelly smiled.
"Left?"
"Right. Well, left is wrong, right is right," she laughed. "Come on, I'll walk with you."
"Sorry."
"It's fine," she assured her. "It's a big school. When they opened it my sophomore year, I felt so lost the first couple weeks. I didn't even know which way was up."
Carrie laughed.
"So, um, about this weekend," Kelly said, readjusting her bookbag. "It's just gonna be a couple of us, you know hanging out and goofing off, nothing special really. But do you think you'd want to come? I think you'd really get along with the rest of my friends."
"Ok," Carrie smiled. "Sure. Sounds fun."
"Good," Kelly smiled back, stopping in front of a door. "Here ya go. I'll be here when you get out."
"You don't have to do that."
Kelly raised an eyebrow.
"I'll see you in an hour," she nodded.
"That's what I thought," Kelly laughed.
