I'm back. Was a bit more difficult trip to visit family, which I expected anyway, but still hard nonetheless.
Now moving along with this one...
Thanks for reading.

Awakening(Pt1)
After repeated attempts to get an answer on the other end of the line and was met with hissing silence, Nick slammed the phone down, his mind racing as to what was going on there. He played over in his mind the few words that Joe said to him, “I need your he…” his voice grew distant, then the bang of the phone as it hit something. “Why would he need my help?” Nick asked himself. Joe’s soft voice filtered in his mind, something about being cold for what Sav did to him. He brought him across, no, that’s not it. Nick shook his head.
“I will not be here when he arrives.” Sav’s voice sounded far away. Nick ran his hand over his face. 'What did he mean by that? Will Sav be off somewhere, at a pub, on the beach maybe?'
“You said you would never leave me.” Joe’s voice boomed in his head, Nick could hear the unmistakable pain in those words. “What was he talking about? “I will not be here when he arrives. He will never find me again.”
Those words and Joe’s spun around in his head until the realization hit him for what they meant. Nick snatched up the phone and waited for some one to pick up.
“Tom, fuel the jet, I want to be in the air within the hour.”
“Yes sir, Mr. de Brabant.”
Nick hung up the phone and went upstairs to hurriedly pack a bag, then went to the garage, he tossed his bag in the back seat and headed for the airport. Something went terrible wrong in Melbourne and he was determined to find out.
***
Joe sat in the darkened room in a daze, still trying to come to terms about Sav and his betrayal, he didn’t bother to even get dressed and ignored the pains of hungry as they swept through him. He felt Sav probe his mind several times and tried to push him out, but couldn’t. Sav was much stronger in their bond than he was and Joe couldn’t keep him out, so he let all of what he was feeling filter through, pain, hurt, betrayal and love. Even in the views of all that happened he couldn’t deny himself that and if Sav didn’t feel the same, why did he keep coming to him through that bond.
Joe didn’t know how long he had sat there, hours, days, it didn’t matter anymore, until he heard the soft voice calling his name, urging him to bring his mind back into focus. At first he thought it was Sav, but as the fog cleared from his mind and the blurriness from his eyes he saw Nick kneeling in front of him.
Nick saw his golden eyes clear and look at him; his fangs glistened in the light of the room. Nick could sense that he hadn’t feed for some time. Pulling himself high on his knees he gently placed his hand behind Joe’s neck and slowly pulled him forward.
“I can feel your hunger Joe.” Nick said softly as he pulled his shirt collar aside. “Take from me and satisfy that thirst.”
Joe went to him with very little hesitation and sank his fangs into Nicks inviting throat. Nick had to know what was going through his mind for him to be this way, knowing that Joe would never do this if he were himself. Which he wasn’t and Nick wanted to know why, he eased is fangs into Joe’s vein and heard him moan softly as Nick pulled lightly on his blood. Everything that happened flooded his mind, he felt Joe’s despair, his overwhelming pain and deeper still, his love for Sav. Nick released him and licked the last few drops of blood from his neck and gently began to push Joe away from him. Joe removed himself from Nick and leaned back in the chair to stare at him, he didn’t even stop the tears that fell from his eyes.
“He said he would never leave me Nick,” Joe said softly. “But he did.”
“Do you know why he did?” “It was all a game to him, a challenge, he fooled us both in making us believe he cared.” ”You can’t for one minute believe that.” Nick firmly replied.
“No I heard him, he said it right to my face. He used me to get away from you. Everything he said was a lie.”
“Do you know where he is? Can you feel him?”
“He said we would be together forever.” Joe mumbled. “I believed him.”
Nick saw the emptiness fill his eyes again. He pulled Joe from the chair and held him as he swayed slightly, then led him to the bed. “We can talk later, you need to rest now.”
Joe allowed Nick to push him in the bed and felt him wipe his face dry of the tears with his thumb. Nick sat beside him until he finally fell into an exhausted sleep. Nick resigned himself to the chair to watch him, trying to make sense out of what he read in his blood and what Joe told him.

In the weeks ahead, Nick continued his search for Sav. He called in favors from the local vampire community and mortals alike, spending thousands of dollars to keep his presence there quiet. He made inquires about Blair and Dusty, very little information came back on them, they too had disappeared. Nick would sit for hours in the pub in the darkest corner so not to be noticed. He found it to be one of the more disgusting pubs he had came across and a little unnerving that Sav would frequent such a place.
In the earlier morning hours he would go back to the house to find Joe in a restless sleep or staring off in the distance. It angered Nick to no ends to see Joe withdraw into himself, knowing what a vibrant young man he was and what Sav did devastated him to the point where he didn’t care anymore. Nick took it upon himself to make sure he feed properly and rested enough.
Even had to drag him to the shower and bathe, of course Joe didn’t go quietly and protested loudly when Nick joined him in the shower and proceeded to wash ever inch of his pale skin. Turning the water off Nick got out and slipped on a terry cloth rob. Taking one of the towels and held it out to Joe, he just stood there staring at it. Nick stepped up to him and began to dry him off.
“Why do you bother Nick?” Joe asked softly.
“Bother with what?”
“Me.”
Nick glanced up at him. “Because there is a beautiful woman and two children that need you. If this is what it takes to keep you from going deeper into despair, then so be it.”
“He’s not coming back, we both know that.”
“Don’t under estimate his love for you.”
“If he did me, he wouldn’t have done this.”
“Tell me something,” Nick started as he moved around to dry Joe’s back. “Who did you meet at the crossroads?”
“What does that have to do with anything?”
“Who was there?”
Joe sighed heavily. “Steve.”
“Your former guitarist and close friend…correct?”
”Yes.”
“What did he say to you?” Nick had moved back in front of him and held his gaze.
“He said a lot of things.”
“About Richard?”
Joe was thoughtful for a moment before he answered. “That he loved me, and if I didn’t go back, a lot of people would be devastated, mostly Sav.”
“Would Steve lie to you?”
“No.” Joe said and looked away. “But he could have told me that this was going to happen or I wouldn't have made the decision I did.”
“The ones you meet there are not allowed to speak of the future.”
“How do you know that?”
“I’ve been there myself and asked that same question. I’ve talked too many who have been there. Some asked what the future held for them and were told that it is whatever you make of it.”
“That doesn’t make sense, if they know what it is why not tell them?”
“If that were to happen, then the person that has to make the choice would come back for all the wrong reasons or come back and try to change things that are destine to happen. Would you have come back to this life if you knew what Sav was going to do?”
“No, it would have saved me a lot of pain and heartache if I knew.”
“And that would have caused all those ones close to you tremendous grief. Is that what you would have wanted?”
“No.” Joe replied softly and looked at the floor.
“So by coming back you didn’t just do it for Sav, but for everyone else too.”
“It still doesn’t explain why he did it.”
"These things happen for a reason Joe, no one can explain them or what motivations the person has for doing them.”
Joe thought about what Nick was saying to him and still couldn’t understand what drove Sav to do this, even if it was because of Nick, it still gave him no comfort. "I..I guess I didn't come back just for Sav. I do love Rebecca and my children enough, but...but it was mostly for Sav."
Nick smiled at him, "I know you did, you don't have to explain it to me. He pulled the terry cloth robe over Joe's shoulder's so he could tie it, then glanced up to see his eyes glowing a deep yellow. “Are you hungry?” he asked softly.
“Yes.”
Nick pulled his own rob aside and bared his throat. “Take it, let it sooth your pain.”
“Nothing can do that but Sav coming back to me.” Joe told him.
Nick moved closer to him and pulled is head to his throat; seconds later he felt Joe ease his fangs in and pull his blood from him. Nick let him take what he needed and fought back his own desire to take his again. When Joe pulled away from him, he looked a little embarrassed for doing it. Nick gave him a slight smile and led him to his bedroom, gently pushing him down on the bed. “Sleep now, the sun has been up for hours.” He left Joe hours later deep in slumber and crawled into his own bed across the hall. Thoughts of finding Sav danced in his dreams and bridging the gap between them all.
**** "Here you go, one heavily mixed blood wine.” Blair said and handed it to Sav. “Thanks.” Sav replied, taking it from him.
Blair studied his profile a moment. “What’s troubling you?”
“Nothing.”
“Something has been bothering you for weeks. Would you like to tell me about it?”
“There is nothing to tell and nothing bothering me.”
Blair let the silence stretch until he couldn't keep the question he wanted to ask at bay any longer, “It’s him isn’t it?”
“No!” Sav shot back quickly.
“You’re having second thoughts about what you did?”
“No…I…” Sav looked away from him and sighted heavily. “…..threw away a nineteen year friendship and the life I loved because of Nick.”
“And a man you love.” Blair put in. Sav shot a glance at him and quickly looked away. “Yes.” his voice was just above a whisper.
“Then why did you do it?” “You know why Blair, to get away from Nick and he’s abuse. He was suffocating me and I was tired of it.” “But you said it had been better between you two lately.”
”It wouldn’t have lasted. Once Joe and I got home, he would have done ever…thing…t..” Sav’s voice trailed off as he stared at Blair.
“What is it, you looked frightened?”
“It…it’s Joe…oh man I have to go.” Sav abruptly shoved his glass to Blair.
“You can’t go there. You know Nick has been staying with him.”
“I have too.”
“You can’t, it might be a trap. Do you really want to go back to that life after you worked so hard to get away from it?” “I don't care if it is a trap, but I have to go, I have to get too Joe.” Blair grabbed his arm and Sav yanked it away. “Let go of me."
“Rick don’t do this.” Blair said softly.
Sav looked at him and then up at the approaching sunrise. Without another thought to the rapidly rising sun, he leaped into the air heading toward his house on the beach.
