We arrived at the optometrist's office, around ten to 11 in the morning. It was inside a skyscraper on the 15th Floor. I checked in, and once again filled out a medical history form and soon after I was called back to an examination room. When I finally met the optometrist, his name was Dr. James McKannan and he was once again in his early-mid thirties and pretty attractive with green eyes and sandy blonde hair. I didn't know what it was with Sony finding all these young studs to handle my care, but I didn't mind. He ran the usual eye tests, asking me to see with my glasses on, then taking them off to gather how nearsighted I was, since it was obvious that I was nearsighted. He then jots everything down in my file and tests my eyes for glaucoma since it runs in the family and I was in the clear.
“Well Crystal, it looks like you'd be a great candidate for our Lasik surgery program. Let me ask Janice when my next opening is and we can get you taken care of...” James said, as he walked out of the room. I waited patiently, looking around the room to see all the fancy gadgets. He came back. “Well I got some good news, I actually had a cancellation today around 3pm, would you be willing to come back?” My brain processed what he had said with shock. Wow...today, in a few hours from now? What?
“Um, today? When's the next appointment otherwise?”
“Three weeks from now...”
“Oh, well...yeah why not. Is there anything I need to do before now and then?”
“Well I would recommend that someone spends the rest of the day with you because your eyesight won't return to normal until 24-36 hours after the surgery. We can discuss aftercare after the procedure."
"Will I be out at all during the surgery?"
"No, you'll be fully conscience throughout the surgery. You feel some burning and stinging during the procedure but other than that it's pretty painless, it's really more annoying than anything."
"Oh man, okay, well put me down doc, I'll let my image consultant know."
"Okay wonderful, well that's everything, I'll see you back here at 3pm. Remember bring someone you can trust with you." James said, extending his hand to me. I nod and go to shake James' hand.
"Thank you for everything. I'll see you here at three." I said as we parted way and I met Melody in the waiting area.
"Everything go okay?"
"Yeah, I gotta text Minho...I have surgery at 3pm."
"What? So soon? Wow...they move fast..."
"Well they had someone cancel and needed to fill the empty spot so I got wrote in."
"Well, Sony won't be able to clear a check so soon...so you'll probably have to cover the bill and I'll have Sony reimburse you." Melody said, hitting the 'up' button on the elevator.
"Where are you going now?"
"We're off to see your dietician. She's up on 18th." Melody said, as waited for the elevator. She couldn't have been more bored even if she tried. I turned to Melody, a question burning in my mind.
"Melody what's your issue with me? Your acting like you have a stick up your butt." I deadpanned, my eyes meeting hers. Her eyes widened with shock as her gaze met mine.
“I—I don't have an issue with you...what makes you say that?” Melody was so caught off guard that she didn't realize the elevator doors had opened until I stepped inside. She snapped out of it before she walked into the elevator with me.
“You've had an attitude since we left Sony. Look, I'm sorry if I offended you in any way, but I'm 27, not 7. I understand that Sony has and will be investing a lot of money into me and I've made it this far. I won't let you guys down.” Melody nodded not saying anything. We rode up to the 18th floor and the doors opened to the eighteenth floor and I stepped off when I felt fingers lace themselves around my upper arm I turned toward Melody and stopped, knowing she was the one pulling on my arm.
“I'm sorry Crystal if I came off as rude, I'm just try to makes ends meet and get things ready and make sure the right people are informed. I never meant to take that out on you, and for that I apologize.” I nod and our eyes met again.
“It's not a big deal, I just want you to cheer up, all of this is very new to me.” She gave a small smile.
“I understand. I'm sorry if I've been a complete bitch toward you, that wasn't my intention, my last client walked out of me and I'm just trying to make sure that you don't do the same.” I nod, in understanding.
“Well I'm in this for the long haul, I'm not going anywhere, believe me.” I said, as we finally walked into the dietician's office. I checked in with the receptionist and I was once again, given new client intake forms and told to fill them out.
I pulled out my phone and and decided now would be the best time to send Minho a text telling him about my Lasik surgery.
Minho, I have lasik surgery scheduled at 3pm, Melody says she'll give me a ride back and forth but I'm going to need to help getting out of the office and up to my hotel room. According to the eye doctor I won't be able to see properly for up to a couple of days. Please talk to manager-hyung about this and see if you can get out of your schedule for tonight, if not, you could send whoever can be free, but I would prefer you. Please?
I set my phone down lap and focused on filling out the intake forms, which asked if I had allergies or if I have had allergy testing done. I filled it out listing my allergies to bee and wasp stings, and to synthetic morphine. I was nearly done filling out the forms when my phone buzzed in my lap, causing my to jump which launched the clipboard off my lap.
“Oh shit. Whoops.” I said covering my mouth as I glanced around to see everyone in the lobby avert their eyes to me as I picked up the clipboard. I glanced down at my phone to see a message from Choi Jin.
Crystal, Minho showed me your message and I have granted him permission to get out of his schedule at 2:30 so he can meet up with you. I will message Melody and get the location and details worked out through her.
“Oh cool...” I muttered to myself as I put my phone away and set out to finishing the forms. Melody also received texts as I was putting in the last little bit of information needed. I got up and returned the forms to the receptionist before taking a seat again.
“Minho's meeting us up at Dr. McKannan's office.”
“Good. I hope I can see him before I go in.”
“Oh I'm sure you will...” The door to the examination rooms opened and a nurse popped out.
“Crystal Hammock?” The nurse called out. I made eye contact with the nurse and got up. Following her behind the door. I was taken to an unconventional office. There was a large desk against one wall followed by a small kitchen with a regular sized fridge.
I sat down in a comfy chair infront of the desk and waited a few minutes before the dietitian, a pretty woman in her 40s came in carrying my file which was quite thick.
"Hi! My name is Kayleena Amado. You must be Crystal!" The dietititan said, introducing herself to me. I nod and take her outstretched hand in mine.
"Yes, I'm Crystal."
"Good, please have a seat. I just recieved your information about some surgery procedures you'll be recieving. I'm here to help you heal up as quickly as you can." She sat down in the desk in front of me and began to read carefully over my file.
"So, you'll be having quite a lot of surgery from what I'm reading here. A tummy tuck, liposuction, facial and breast implants...it'll be a long while before you feel normal again, but that's where I come in. I will make sure you get the nutrients you need in order for you to heal as quickly as possible." She paused a moment before reading over my client intake forms. "Good, you have no allergies to any food. So...let's get started shall we?" Kayleena said, as she pushed away from the desk and got up and went over to the fridge.
There, she dug out some strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, a pomagranate, a bundle of asparagus, and some broccoli. She took all this items to a blender in the corner and began pouring them in. She turned the blender on and pureed the fruit and veggies until they were a fine pulp before adding some kind of powder and some ice. She turned the blender back on for another 30 seconds before take the blender off the base and pouring the contents into a cup. She took a straw out of a nearby holder and offered it to me.
"Here. I would like you to drink all of this. This is a booster and will kick start your system into recovery mode. I'll be sending another nurse to make you meals and smoothies like this one for the next month or until you can start moving around well on your own, and when that happens I'll have my staff train you on how to cook healthy so you can continue recovering." Kayleena said, as she watching me drink the smoothie down. I had to give it to her, the smoothie was very delicious and she knew what she was doing.
"Oh that sounds amazing, this smoothie is awesome by the way." I said, taking another gulp of the smoothie through the straw.
"Thank you! I'm glad you enjoy it so much." Kayleena said, before she jotted down some notes in my files and closed it up. "Well, it was great meeting you and enjoy that smoothie...I'm sending someone over tonight around 5pm to your hotel room...will you be there?" I paused drinking more of the smoothie to answer her question.
"Yeah I should be, I am getting Lasik surgery at 3pm...so hopefully they should be done within the hour."
"Oh yeah, definitely. I'll tell my collegue to take some of our eye-health supplement. It'll help speed the recovery of your cornea."
"Oh nice! Okay, well, having a nice day!"
"Oh yes, you too Crystal."
And with that, Kayleena left the office and I finished the smoothie, placing the glass in the sink. I exited the office and met up with Melody in the waiting room. Her eyes met mine and she shot up out of her chair.
"So, how'd that go?" Melody asked, as we headed out of the clinic together.
"It went very well, she made me a smoothie to 'kick-start' my recovery and discussed her game plan on from here on out to get me to eat healthy."
"Oh that's wonderful...I'm sure you'll like that."
"Yeah, I can't wait..." We waited for the elevator. "So what now?"
"You have a dermotologist appointment...he's in this building too, on the 7th floor." Melody said, as the elevator doors opened and we stepped inside.
"Oh nice." I said, as my stomach began to rumbled. "Uh, are we planning on grabbing a quick lunch or something beforehand? I'm starving."
"Yeah, I can go pick you up something, it'll have to be light though because you'll have to stop eating by tonight and take some heavy duty laxatives tonight, so don't plan on getting much sleep." I frowned somehow knowing that this was coming. Damn, this is going to be one hell of a night.
We meet with the dermatologist, who's name is Rhamy Abdullah. He's a big burly Arab man but with delicate hands and a teddy bear personality. His accent made it hard for me to understand him at times and he had to repeat himself a lot but he was very patient. He schedules me every two weeks starting on the 20th for a laser treatments for my face, arms, thighs, and stomach area, right along where the scars will be to diminish the appearance of scars. He gives me a lotion that contains fibrin that will help a lot before and during healing to help the skin reattach properly.
By the time I was finished, Melody met me in the lobby with a small chicken and spinach salad with an iced tea. I quickly demolish the salad and tea in the lobby before we head over to the Optometrist. As soon as we get to the optometrist's office, Minho's waiting for us.
"Minho!" I said, wrapping my arms around my taller boyfriend. His lips touched my cheek as he wrapped his arms around me as well.
"Hey Jagiya, I've missed you all day today. Are you having surgery?"
"Yeah, I'm supposed to have LASIK here at three. I'm really nervous, cause I don't know what to expect."
"That's normal, just take some deep breaths and you'll be fine. I'm here to help you out..." Minho said as he ushered me to a seat in the waiting room. Melody sat across from us. "The nurse said I can go back in with you but I'll be sitting outside the room and when you're finished they can come get me." I looked at him and nodded in understanding.
"Oh that's really nice. I'm sure I won't be able to see anything for a while afterwards." Minho then put an arm around me.
“Crystal, look at me...” Minho coaxed and I glanced up at him, and his eyes locked onto mine in a loving gaze. “I love you. I'll be right outside, if it becomes too much think about us. Think about music, think about other things other than what's going on right at that moment. It'll help, believe me.” I smiled at Minho as the he glanced at the desk. “You should probably check in and let them know you're here.” I nod, and get up and check in with the desk.
“Crystal?” I heard about 10 minutes later. I grab my purse and got up with Minho following me. I was ushered into a room where I would be having the surgery, the nurse asked Minho to sit in a chair right outside the room however.
After filling me on what would be happening during the procedure, while I was being prepped and my corneal measurements were read off as well as the size of my iris and all that. I was asked to tilt my head up The optometrist swapped my eyes with an antiseptic liquid which happened to numb the eyelids and under eye area. Gauze was placed over my eyes which was used to wipe the liquid off my eyes. I was given two types of drops, one to soften the cornea the other to numb my eye. I was treated twice with the numbing drops. Damn those drops stung like crazy. I was given gauze to get the excess off my eye.
The chair was laid flat and I was wheeled over to the machine with the laser. Small sheets of plastic were laid over my eyes. There was a special clamp that hooked my upper eyelid and lower eyelid away from each other and held them there, plastic was meant to prevent the clamps from cutting into my skin. I couldn't blink and I immediately noticed my eye was getting dry, regardless of having the numbing drops.
“Okay Crystal, I'm going to irrigate your eye and were going to get started okay?”
“Okay.” I said not really able to nod my had or anything. Next came the part I was nervous about, the cutting of corneal flap. A metal contraption with a hole large enough to fit around my iris was placed over my right eye before the doctor held the contraption on my eye and at that point in time I was feeling a lot of pressure on my eye. He spun a blade around the edge of the hole before taking the contraption off my eye. He then irrigated my eye again which felt really good before taking a needle and opening the now clear corneal flap of my eye. At this point I lost my vision to see clearly and I couldn't see anything.
“Okay Crystal your going to receiving treatment now, so look where the bright light is and we can get this over with in two shakes of a lambs tail.”
“Okay.” I said, as I looked where the lights were at and I could hear the laser begin burning the tissue. The smell was something like burned hair, it kind of put me off a bit, but I did was I supposed to do and I glanced where the lights appeared in front of me. My eye was getting so dry, I thought it would be reduced to sand any second. Before I couldn't stand it anymore, my eye was irrigated once again before my flap was placed back and I could see again. With a sponge swap the flap was placed flush against my eye. Granted not as clearly as before, my vision was still really blurry.
It was the same procedure with my left eye. It was a little shorter since my left eye was my dominant eye and didn't need as much work.
As soon as we were finished. I was given special eye drops to keep my eye wet, eye patches to wear for the first couple of nights along with antibiotic eye drops that I was supposed to take several times a day until the bottle was empty. According to the doctor the surgery was a success.
“I'll set you up a follow up appointment for the 20th ...you're having surgery tomorrow, is that right?”
“Yeah, I'm supposed to get chin implants and all that...” I trailed off, a sudden spur of nervousness stir within me.
“I see...well you'll need to have them put this on before they put you under. Your flaps are still very vulnerable to be dislocated so if they're working on your face they'll need to take special care around your eyes.” James said handing me a specially made eye mask. “I'll fax over some after care instructions to Ian and his nurses and send you with a copy. I may pop by after you get out of surgery to take a look at your eyes and see how they're healing.”
“You know Ian?” I asked, taking the sack that one of James' nurses handed to me that contained all of my items including my purse.
“Yeah, the man's a surgical genius. He did wonderful things with my wife after her accident last year. You're in the best hands my dear, trust me. I'll let your boyfriend know you're ready to go...”
“Wait, before you leave, how long is my vision expected to stay blurry like this?” My vision was really blurry. It was as if I had the worst case of nearsightedness ever. I couldn't make out anything really.
“I'd give it a good day, it should clear up hopefully within 48 hours. You will see fluctuations from time to time, but if you experience sudden blurriness and worsening vision call me immediately. My home and cell phone number are on your aftercare paperwork. Call me if anything happens.” I nod as a nurse came to my side and helped me out of the chair while another nurse went to get Minho. I saw the figure of Minho appear in front of me.
“Minho?”
“How'd everything go?”
“Everything went well, she was a champ. The doctor will pay her a visit tomorrow to see how everything's going. You'll make sure she gets back to her place safe right?” The nurse teased, and Minho laughed.
“Yeah I'll make sure she gets there. She's good to go?”
“She's good to go. It was pleasure working on you Crystal.”
“Thank you guys!” I said as Minho wrapped an arm around me and helped me out of the office. “Wait, Minho....I gotta pay the bill...”
“I took care of it already.”
“Minho...no....”
“Crystal, it's fine. I don't mind.”
“Okay, fine, how much did it cost you, I'll pay you back.”
“Don't worry about it, and you don't have to pay me back.”
“Minho. I can't let you do that.”
“Crystal I'm your boyfriend, I love you and I want to do this for you. Stop arguing with me.”
“You truly are too good to me.” I said, looking up at him. Not that I could see his face or anything, but I knew it was him even if he was too blurry to see, his deep voice was very soothing to hear.
“I love you, I have to be good to you. You're good to me too you know. Should we get you back to your room?”
“That sounds amazing. I just want to rest a little bit.”
“Yeah that sounds good too.” I said as Minho opened the door for me and we met up with Melody again. We exited the building, Minho helping me every step of the way. My depth perception was off I noticed too. I went to grab the door handle to let myself out only to completely miss it and Minho's grip tightened on me preventing me from falling. Melody also grabbed me.
“Holy Shit. She can't really see can she?”
“Crystal, let me help you. I don't want you getting hurt.” Minho scolded before opening the door. “She can't see very well. She can see colors, and can make vague shapes but everything is super blurry and distorted. Her depth perception will get better. It could be like this for the next day or so...at least that's what the nurse told me.”
“I can't stay with her unfortunately. I got my own family I gotta get back to.” Melody said as she opened the back door to the SUV and Minho helped me find the handle and helped me into SUV.
“I'll stay with her until she regains her sight. I may have to call off tomorrow.”
“I hope you don't have to. You guys are also on a tight schedule as well. Now is not the time to be missing days.” Melody scolded Minho. It made me sick to my stomach to hear her go after my boyfriend like that. Melody got into the SUV next. Minho shut my door and walked around the door.
“Melody why don't you worry about yourself. Minho's a grown man, he's also a hard worker, he'll do what he needs to do. We're not children.” I said, annoyed once again. Melody let out a heavy breath and didn't respond to me. Minho got into the SUV and we were off.
We arrive at the Hotel and Minho once again escorts me up to my room. He walks me to the bedroom and lays me down on the bed and helped me take my shoes off before grabbing the remote off the dresser and handing it to me. I turned the TV on and grabbed my bag off the floor next to my bed and put my eye drops in my eyes. Minho watched me, grabbing some Kleenex in the bathroom and handing it to me.
“Thank you babe.” I said grabbing the kleenex and blotting my eyes. Minho laid next to me and cuddled me while we watched episodes of House. There was a knock at the door and I got up to get it but Minho pulled me back to the bed and said he would get it. I knew it was the nurse sent to by the nutritionist.
The woman comes into the bedroom, following Minho carrying a few bags in her hands.
“Hello Crystal. I'm Marissa, I'm Kayleena's nurse. Let me go and set these in your kitchen, is it okay if I use your kitchen to make you a shake?”
“Oh yeah, sure.”
“Wonderful, I'll be back in a minute.” Marissa said disappearing I heard her look through the drawers in the kitchen. I hear the blender go off and Minho asks if she needs help with anything. I hear her refuse his offer of help and she comes in with another smoothie. This one tasted like chocolate.
“This has easily digestible proteins, I also added some supplements to help aid the healing of your eyes. It should be pretty filling though. If you do need something more, drink only water. Also...” She placed a couple of small bottles on the side table. I recognized them as magnesium citrate, a saline laxative I used from time to time to rid myself of constipation that plague me at times.
“I need you to drink both of these bottles exactly a half hour from the time that you finish that shake. I left you a couple of more bottles in the fridge, just in case these two haven't done the trick.” I looked at the two bottles on the table and nodded. “Have you taken these before?”
“Yeah, a few times...you know, to regulate myself. I'm going to be miserable tonight.”
“Yeah, unfortunately, they need a clear gut for surgery.” I nodded once again and down the rest of my shake and gave the glass back to Marissa. “Okay, I'll stick around until you drink those two drinks then I'll leave you two alone to rest.”
I watched House with Minho while Marissa cleaned up the kitchen, and before I knew it, it was time to take the laxative. I downed the two bottles of berry flavored fizzy drink before discarding the empty bottles in the nearby garbage receptacle. Marissa bid her goodbyes and left us alone.
My guts beginning to rumble and cramp, Minho placed the special mask over my eyes and I fell asleep in Minho's embrace. Seems that I had just gotten to sleep when I shot up out of bed and screamed that I had to shit. Minho scrambled with me into the bathroom. After relieving myself, I put the mask back on and fell back asleep only to get back up again. By the third time of getting up, both of us were tired of it already. My vision was getting a bit better though. I had managed about 6 hours of sleep by the time 5am rolled around. Minho had set an alarm for me and it went off, and he groaned.
“Jagiya, get up....”
“I don...wanna...” I mumbled. I felt him leave the bed and go into the bathroom. It sounded like he was drawing a bath for me.
“You have to jagiya, you have surgery today...” I pulled the pillow over my head. I didn't want to go. I wanted to stay healthy and pain-free. I heard him come back into the bedroom, the water still running in the bathroom.
“No...” I felt a hand encompass my ankle as I was pulled out of the safe refuge of the bed. I gently pulled the eyemask off my face and glared at Minho who was surprisingly much more clear to see than the day before. “Minho!” He laugh at me as he glanced down before putting me over his shoulder.
“Come on Jagiya, time to get up, I got a bath going for us. I'll help you bathe...”
“For us?”
“Yes, for us. How are your eyes?” Minho asked, setting me down in the bathroom.
“I can see better actually...” I said my eyes meeting his. Thing were still a little blurry but I got my depth perception back. I peeled my shirt over my head while Minho's hands closed on the clasps that held my bra together. He unclasped me and smoothed the straps of the bra down my arms his eyes watching the skin and my breasts now exposed to the open air.
“Really, it's not as blurry?” Minho asked, his eyes meeting mine.
“Well it's still a little bit but I can see much better than I could yesterday...you can still take a bath with me if you want...” Minho smiled but didn't say anything as his hands closed around my pants and undies and pulled them down to the floor. I stepped out of the heap of my clothing on the floor as Minho began stripping himself down. I turned the water off and stepped into the tub. Minho wasn't far behind me and was soon in the tub as well. Minho helped me bathe, and he washed my hair carefully, being vigilant in not getting water in my eyes.
Somewhere along the way our lips met in a kiss and we both got carried away in the kiss. The thrill of feeling our naked bodies together sent chills down my spine and before I knew it, I was taking Minho's hardness inside me. My movement on him were slow and teasing but my need for release grew. Soon the water was sloshing all around with every movement of my hips. Minho's hands were all over me, pulled at hair, grasping my breasts and my ass...our lips never left each others. That kiss ignited our carnal appetite and it caused our sexual encounter to be intense as our orgasms washed over the both of us simultaneously. Moaning into each others mouths we rode the wave and eventually came down off of our high.
“Fuck...” Minho said, exhausted as he clutched me tightly to him. “I...I love you...” He said before taking my lips in a kiss.
“Mmm...I love you...” I said, pulled myself off of him but he grabbed my upper arms and pulled me against him again and laid kisses upon my forehead and wrapped his arm around in me in embrace. We stayed in the tub together until the water began to get cold before getting out. We dried ourselves off and I got into yet another pair of sweats and a baby t-shirt there was a knock on the door. I glanced at Minho...it was only a little after six, surely that couldn't be my ride already. I quickly dressed before getting the door. Standing there was Key, looking as fabulous as ever.
“Good Morning! Minho here?” Key said letting himself in.
“Um...yeah...just let yourself in I guess.” Key let out a laugh as Minho came out of my bedroom.
“Hey Kibum. Are they expecting me downstairs?” Key nodded.
“Yep Frog-boy...”
“Huh?” I asked my glance switching between Key and Minho. “I'm confused.”
“I'm coming with you today for your surgery, Minho promised manager-hyung yesterday that he would be at practice.”
“Oh okay.” I said, slightly saddened by the fact that Minho wasn't going to be there with me. With that Minho grabbed his things and walked past me pausing to give me a chaste kiss on the lips.
“I'm sorry I can't be there Jagiya but you'll be in my thoughts and I'll make sure to ask about updates.”
“Okay, I love you.” I said, giving Minho one last hug before he left my apartment. Meanwhile Key grabbed my bag out of the closet.
“Crystal, come and pack your bag...”
“Okay, what should I take?”
“Probably something really comfortable and loose, you'll be sore for the next week...some kind of entertainment, now would be a good time to download some game apps on your phone...music...you should have a tv in there. Take your laptop, you can surf the web...”
“Okay...jeez, one thing at a time.” I said smiling at to myself at his eagerness. I grabbed a pair of undies and an extra bra but Key came up behind me, placing his hands on either side of me. “Put the bra back. You won't be able to wear one for a while.”
“How do you know that?” I said turning around and my eyes met his. His face turned red as he took a step back.
“Honey I have friends in the industry. I know a thing or two about plastic surgery.” Key said, as he stepped forward again. He was about 7 inches away from me. I shrugged.
“Okay, I'll bring just a pair of underwear then.” I said turning and closing my drawer again and tossing the pair in my bag before grabbing my light blue sweat suit from the closet and packing. “So, who got surgery?” I asked grabbing a pair of 'fat jeans' and a loose t-shirt and packing it. I also unhooked my new Macbook and packed it as well. I made sure I had my toiletries from the bathroom.
“Ah, if I told you, it would make it awkward if you were ever to meet them in person, which could very well happen. I don't want to upset them either, I promised I wouldn't tell another soul.” Key said hesitatingly.
“Okay, I can see that. Do a lot of people confide in you Key?” I said packing just a few other items before closing up my bag and Key grabbed my bag while I grabbed my purse and cellphone. I turned off all the lights and made sure I had my keys to my room before walking out with Key.
“Yeah, they do.” Key said as he pressed the down button on the elevator.
“Well I'm really scared right now. I'm really scared I'll go down and not wake up.” I confessed as we entered the elevator. “I'm taking a really big risk. I trust the doctor and everything, but you know, things happen.” Key placed my bag down down and slink and arm around my waist.
“Hey, I'll make sure nothing happens to you. You'll make it through Crystal, I promise.” I gave Key a hug staying there for a good moment before pull away from him.
“Thanks.” I said before the elevator doors open. Key, grabbing my bag waved for me to go first. I was famished, but I couldn't eat anything and my guts were still in knots from the laxative and now, nerves. We got into the SUV and I went to checked my facebook, I had over 500 new friend invites from people I didn't know. I thought it was weird so I went to check my instagram and saw the pictures Key put up of us with the caption of “having fun with a friend” and there were thousands of comments. A third of them asking Key who I was, a third of them saying we look so happy together, while the other third weren't very nice. Key must have followed my instagram because I had well over 1000 new people following my instagram. Shit. I guess I knew what Key meant when he said social media would become the pinnacle of my life. It was also a good thing I put my phone silent as well. Having all those friend invites would've drove me nuts.
Meanwhile I had managed to add a picture of my meal and a picture of Key's meal and a picture of Key trying on some sunglasses. On the comments there were a lot of people asking how I knew Key and where we were.
I could do all this shit later when I was recovering. My facebook account was connected to my instagram, I would need to disconnect it from my facebook from my instagram. I didn't need 150 people whom I didn't know, knowing my inner thoughts and what not. I let out a breath and sat back in the seat, running a hand through my hair.
“People attacking your instagram yet?”Key asked raising his eyebrow at me.
“Yeah, why did you add me?” I asking looking back at him.
“You're our leader and even though word of it hasn't gotten out yet, we need to start introducing you to the fans early. That way when the announcement does get made, the fans won't be that surprised. I'm convincing Jinki and Jonghyun to get instagram accounts so we can get you more exposure.”
“What should I do on my account then?” I asked, looking for his guidance.
“Post your day to day activities, get us in your shots, the fan girls will relate to you a lot better since you're well...you know, female. Just don't post anything about plastic surgery. It's frowned upon.”
“I realize that Key.” I said, pressing the power button on my phone while my heart was racing. All this was becoming real to me.
We arrived at the clinic and I check in and I am taken back. Key is allowed to come with me. Dr. Casey comes in dressed to the nines in his surgical garb. With a black washable marker he marks where he is making his incisions. Key watched giving me reassuring smiles every once in a while. At 7am on the dot, I was taken to a smaller operating room where I was told to lay down on stretcher. Key was asked to go to a special waiting room in the recovery section of the clinic I was hooked up with an IV that I was told would be used to administer the anesthesia. My face was prepped for surgery, with a finger monitor, a couple of chest pads to monitor my oxygen levels and heart rate and a blood pressure cuff to monitor my blood pressure every five minutes. Special googles, similar to the ones you wore in a tanning bed except without the small holes, were placed over my eyes. A mask was placed over my nose and mouth. I knew I was going to go down. I felt the medication make its way up my arm.
"Okay Crystal, just breathe deep and count back from 10...and before you know it, you'll be waking up in recovery."
10...9...8...7......6........
'.....Lights out......'.
"When will she be awake?"
"The anesthesia should wear off soon..." I heard...if I'm hearing then...my eyes fluttered open. The first thing I saw was this beautiful cherub of a man on my left side there was a light behind his head and he looked heavenly. He was wearing a white shirt. I smiled up him.
"Hi...am I in heaven? You look like an angel." The man busted out laughing and played with my hair.
"I think the anesthesia made you loopy. No Crystal, I'm not an angel, I'm Kibum, Key..."
"From SHINee! Really? Ommigod I love SHINee..." Key then turned to a nearby nurse a look of disbelief froze on his beautiful features.
"Hey um, she's awake...is this normal?"
"Oh yeah, she'll be out of it for a bit. Hey Crystal! Your surgery went very well...we'll get you wheeled in your room here soon."
"Surgery? So this isn't heaven?"
"No Crystal, this isn't heaven."
"Oh." I touched my face to find bandages. "What happened to my face?"
"You'll see honey. Are you tired?" Key said, smiling down angelicly down at me. Our eyes met and I studied his features. God, this man was so unbelievably attractive right now. Then I shook my head, trying to remember that I had just had plastic surgery.
"No. I just woke up." My stomach gurgled and I realized that I was hungry. "I'm hungry though."
"Well, just stay here I'll see if I can get you something okay?" Key said leaving the recovery area to track down my nurse, but he didn't have to search far though, Dr. Casey and my nurse was right around the corner.
"Hey Crystal, I see you're awake, everything went beautifully...would you like to see your new face?"
"Um...sure."
"Okay good, Sadie will help you with your bandages. Mr. Kim, if you would hold the mirror until she's ready that would be most helpful. Now, you may see some extra incisions. The truth is that we actually took some lipid tissue from your cheeks and forehead and did a slight face lift and that is why your face is beginning to swell. I wanted to bring out your high cheekbones. Your facial structure is very beautiful and I wanted to accentuate it even more. I also did the partial facelift to get rid of the laugh lines were you developing." By now the bandages were off my face. Key gasped and murmured an 'Oh my God'. The doctor held his hand out to recieve the mirror from Key and I was looking at myself for the first time since the surgery.
"Holy shit." I looked pretty mangled and I was just starting to swell, but still very different. The pain was just starting to kick in now that I was looking at myself for the first time.
"Your chin though, is strong and prominent.” He was right. There was a strong jawline underneath all the swelling. It was lowered where my jaw met my ears and an implant was in place to give me that coveted V-line. My nose was the only thing that looked the same.
“I look like a completely different person.”
“You’re an improved version of yourself.” The nurse said, looking at me. This was just phase two of my metamorphosis. Phase three was coming soon.
