As they all arrived back at the boys’ place around the same time, Becca led Viv into the living room where she could sit Angie down and rest a little. She sat down with Viv, smiling as she noticed Brendon and Spencer oo-ing over the baby. Those two would be the worst influential uncles out of anyone. She could just imagine them spoiling everyone’s kids beyond rotten and telling them all sorts of bad things to do and such. Becca shook her head just thinking about it.
“You know, Viv. I don’t think I would let Angie get too close to those two in particular. I think they would be the bad influence uncles. Sure the kids love them to death. But what havoc they leave behind ... I shudder just thinking about it.”
“Oh, I don’t know. Besides, maybe I can count on the good influences of you and Cat to try and help keep Angie evened out from the bad ones.”
Viv laughed before giving Becca a smile, before Becca wrapped her arms around the other girl. “Of course I’ll try to help even out the evil influence of the boys.”
“What is this I hear about evil influence of the boys?”
“Yeah. Besides, if you’re talking about us, we’re not the evil ones. We’re just misunderstood. Could such a cute person as myself really be evil?”
Becca laughed as she walked over to Brendon and Spencer as Ryan walked over and took Angie up. She would leave Ryan for a moment. So instead she merely looped her arms through both boys’ before pulling them off in the opposite direction to chat.
“Oh you both know you’re evil. Besides, cute doesn’t make any difference, Bren. It’s just the opposite, actually. The cute ones are the ones to watch out for.” Becca playfully pinched Brendon’s cheek, before turning her attention back to Ryan, watching as he held Angie with a soft smile that she hadn’t seen in some time.
“Don’t worry, Becca. He’ll be fine. I think he’s almost ready for another try with Cat. He asked me one night last week if I thought he would make a good dad. So that proves he’s thinking about it again.”
“Cat’s the same way. You can’t tell it, but I think she’s ready to pack up the sad and move on.”
Becca grinned as she glanced between the two boys. “When did you two get to be so smart? What are you trying to do, give me some decent competition for once?”
Although at the mention of Cat, Becca began to glance around the room, wondering where her friend had gotten off to. Not seeing her in the living room, Becca frowned before giving both boys a kiss on the cheek excusing herself. She was sure that they might like to have time to themselves again, and she was worried about Cat.
She headed off in the direction of the kitchen, thinking that maybe Cat had gotten hungry or went off to try and find something to gather up for everyone, but frowned when she saw that the kitchen was empty as well. So she decided to check outside, and smiled a little seeing that Cat had disappeared off to the back yard, probably to clear her mind a little or get out of the house for some fresh air. She walked over to where Cat was leaning against a tree, and frowned seeing tears in her friend’s eyes. But before she could ask, Cat seemed to tell her what was bothering her.
“My child would have been due today Becca. I sometimes wonder what it would have been like, having that special bond with my child, sort of like that connection Viv has when holding Angie...”
Becca clicked her tongue lightly reaching out for Cat. She hated seeing her friend so melancholy, especially when she had something as happy as her wedding to look forward to. “Cat, look at me. Just because you lost a child once, doesn't mean that you're going to lose one again.”
Cat sniffled and nodded. “I know Becs, I know... That's not why I'm crying.. Ryan with little Angelique... Just the way he held her like that, it's how I've imagined him holding a child of ours someday... I think we're ready to move on...” She laughed, pulling Becca into a hug. “No one can ask for a better friend than you Becca, I'm really blessed to have all of you guys in my life...”
Becca felt her own eyes water a little at the sweetness of Cat’s words. “Oh now you've got me tearing up Cat, come on let's go find a funny movie.” She gave Cat another squeeze before pulling apart and wrapping her arms with Cat’s as they walked back inside.
“Excellent idea.”
When they got back into the living room, Becca glanced through the movie selection and smiled before pulling out “Anger Management” and sticking it in. Always a good choice. Besides, she knew for a fact that there wouldn’t be any objections around, at least she hoped that Viv would agree, as she still wasn’t that familiar with the other girl’s tastes in movies.
Just as Becca was settling down in one of the armchairs, she smiled brightly at Patrick’s appearance. She stood and greeted him with a kiss, before joining him in the chair, leaving the couch to Brendon, Spencer, and Viviana. She giggled as she sat down half in his lap and half sitting beside him. But either way, she snuggled up close to him as he wrapped an arm around her shoulders.
“Beckanne, what's wrong?” Patrick whispered after noticing the tears still in her eyes from earlier.
She shrugged with a small smile. She nodded off to where Cat lay with her head in Ryan’s lap as they had sprawled out on the floor during the movie, hands tightly clasped together. “Look at that love, it's so pure and unconditional... I like to think that we're like that too.” She returned the smile he gave her, feeling the familiar safety with his arms around her.
She then nodded over towards where Brendon and Spencer sat at the end of the couch, covered in a blanket while Brendon stretched his legs out over Spencer’s lap as he always did with everyone. Although she knew there was more behind that than just Brendon being himself. She lowered her voice even more, leaning her head against Patrick’s shoulder. “They are probably holding hands under the cover... Bren and Spence, but shhh, let them reveal it, okay?”
Becca managed to keep from giggling, although seeing the grin on Patrick’s face made it harder to do so. “Somehow I knew this was going to happen all along.” He gave her a light squeeze before kissing her on the top of the head as she snuggled up to him again.
“I know, and I’m glad for them. Spence gave me such a worry when I thought he was upset over us, so I’m glad that he can have the chance to be as in love with someone as I am with you.”
“I love you too, Reby. I’m happy for Spencer too. Although I have to say, I kind of expected it out of him. After all, what sane guy would let you get away without a fight?”
Becca giggled and shook her head, trying to hide the blush on her cheeks. She laid her head back on Patrick’s shoulder with a bright smile watching the movie and just in general loving the night.
“OH MY GOD! I LOVE THIS PART!”
Becca jumped as Brendon squealed at a particular part in the movie. It had been a long day and she had almost fallen asleep, in the comfortable embrace. But now she was awake for a little while longer. She glanced up at the screen and giggled as she noticed what part Brendon had been so excited over. Her grin grew wider when Brendon turned to Patrick with an almost pleading grin.
“Hey Patrick, sing with me!”
Patrick chuckled as he heard Becca’s muffled giggle against his shoulder. Although he couldn’t help but smile, as he had always found the part amusing as well. And so soon enough the two vocalists joined in with the raucous singing.
“I feel pretty
Oh so pretty
I feel pretty and witty and gay
And I pity
Any girl who isn't me today
I feel charming
Oh so charming
It's alarming how charming I feel
And so pretty
That I hardly can believe I'm real
See the pretty girl in that mirror there?
Who can that attractive girl be?
Such a pretty face
Such a pretty dress
Such a pretty smile
Such a pretty me!
I feel stunning
And entrancing
Feel like running
And dancing for joy
For I'm loved
By a pretty wonderful boy!”
Becca gave Patrick a smirk as he finished up the song, having found it amusing to hear the two boys singing along with the movie. With Brendon’s case, there were plenty of things that she guessed he would agree with in the song, that might seem odd. But for Patrick, unless he was hiding something, it was amusing.
Patrick raised an eyebrow at Becca’s smirk. “So you thought that was pretty funny, huh?” Becca could only nod, giggling too much for words. Although she instantly regretted it as Patrick wrapped both arms around her tickling her in the side with a playful evil laugh.
“Okay, okay. I give up! Ah, Patrick!” Becca squealed and tried to squirm away from Patrick’s attack, causing everyone to look over to find out what the noise had been about, no one noticing the small kiss shared by the two boys on the couch.
Patrick laughed and caved, calling a truce with a kiss, everyone calming back down and getting back to watching the movie. Although Becca still continued to giggle for a few minutes after, causing Patrick to playfully give her a threatening squeeze. But the calm was broken soon enough by Cat’s cell phone ringing. Becca tried to keep her insatiable curiosity at bay, but knew that soon enough she would ask the inevitable question.
“It’s alright, love. Just let me know if there’s anything I can do for you. ... What is it, Ivy? If I can help, I will.”
Ah ha! It was Ivy on the phone. Although that brought about the question of what Ivy would be calling Cat about tonight, and to have Cat offering her help. Cat turned to Becca after a moment, a bit of a confused look on her face.
“Um, Becca, Ivy said to ask you what you would think of having a baby around the Wentz house? ...”
Becca raised an eyebrow at Cat, thoroughly confused about Ivy’s question. Unless ... Surely Ivy wasn’t pregnant along with April? Becca noticed similarly confused expressions on the others around the room.
“Becca, as well as myself, want to know why you would ask such a question? Actually, I think we all do. ... Seriously, Ivy? I mean, no joke? You and Pete? This is great! How long?”
Becca’s mouth dropped open. At these implications, it sounded like Pete and Ivy were going to have a baby. I mean, sure they had certainly been going at it like rabbits, but to be pregnant? Oh god, what was her mom going to say? Becca stood and motioned for Cat to give her the phone, before sitting back down in Patrick’s lap.
“Ivy Cataluna Reynolds, I swear that if you don’t tell me what Cat’s going on about, I’ll come over there and kill you myself!”
“Now you wouldn’t want to do that, Becca. If you did that you’d kill your future niece or nephew.”
Becca almost dropped the phone at Ivy’s admission. So she was pregnant then. Patrick noticed the state of shock and playfully reached up and moved his hand in front of her eyes, causing her to jump a bit, earning a chuckle from him.
“You’re pregnant? Ivy, that’s … well we all knew that you two were like rabbits so this was bound to happen, but I figured it would be just a little while longer.”
“What was this I hear about us being like rabbits? Maybe. From the noise I’m hearing in the background, I’m guessing everyone is pleased. That’s good because we’re having a party, tonight. It’ll be a welcome home party for Mom and a celebration for us. Everyone there had better be here, alright?”
Becca shook her head hearing her brother’s voice on the phone. At the mention of their mom coming home and throwing a party, Becca bit her lower lip. She didn’t know how that would work out. After all, she wasn’t even sure that their mom would be particularly thrilled about the news, given her normal rules on couples. But she didn’t want to rain on her brother’s good mood.
“Petey, we’re all ecstatic and would be honored to come to a celebration party tonight. I was wondering when you’d give me a niece or nephew. I just never figured it would also be Ivy’s kid. We’ll see you later. Love you two.”
“We love you too, Becs.”
Becca laughed at both of their voices before closing Cat’s cell phone and handing it back to her. She shook her head before sitting back against Patrick, smiling as he wrapped his arms around her waist. She didn’t know what was going to happen with the party and all the revelations and such, but she knew that if she did head back to her house, then she wouldn’t be able to get much sleep, as Ivy and Pete would no doubt keep her up all night.
“My place is always open to you, Becca.”
She turned and gave Patrick a quick kiss. “How did you know what I was thinking?” It was a little weird that he seemed to know that she was thinking on what to do about the party and such.
“You had your thinking about how best to go about not hurting someone’s feelings look on your face. So having overheard about Pete and Ivy throwing a party tonight, and noticing that you were falling asleep earlier, plus the look said that you weren’t looking forward to the party.”
Becca nodded and curled back up against Patrick, closing her eyes lightly at the comforting feeling. “You’re too great, Patrick. How about we finish up the night here and decide what next, okay?”
“Whatever you decide, Beckanne, and you know that.”
She nodded with a smile before leaning up to leave a light kiss on his lips before laying her head back on his shoulder, turning her attention back to the movie that had been forgotten by everyone for a while at Ivy’s revelation. As Patrick shifted just slightly to where they could both stretch out in the chair, Becca felt her eyelids start to droop again, along with a light kiss on the top of the head.
