‘You lied to me’ Gerard raged, Jade had wanted to be alone, so she went to have a bath. Gerard stood in the garden shouting at the sky, he had no clue why, but he needed to shout at something. ‘Can you hear?’ he shouted, ‘You said she wouldn’t remember anything, you said it was our day.’ Gerard fell to his knees exhausted, staring over the edge of the swimming pool, he saw a figure emerge behind him. The figure shook its head, Gerard spun round but no one was there.
’I didn’t expect this’ the voice appeared once more in his ears. Gerard stood to his feet and looked around, ‘I didn’t expect she would recall, you have to understand Gerard. Jade is dead, long dead. In order to give her back to you for a day I blocked her memory, her life was hidden from her. Somehow you broke through it though’
’How could I have done that?’
‘You have a rare love, it seems while you consummated that, you broke my bind and now she remembers everything. Every fight you ever had, every laugh you ever shared. She knows she died, she knows you died, the question now is, Can she deal with this information? Many people wouldn’t want to see their life spanned out ahead of them.’
’What if she cant deal with it?’
’She will die, again. There is only so much information a person can take, imagine waking up one morning with your life ahead of you, then suddenly its already lived’
’Gerard who are you talking to?’ Jade asked, stepping from the living room and out into the garden. Gerard turned to face her, ‘Are you ok?’
’Yeah, my headache has gone. I was confused, I am sorry. I suppose this must be strange for you too. I just…if I am dead, and clearly I am because I have watched my life with you in my mind. Why am I here?’
’Because I brought you here. I had a chance to wish for something, anything I wanted. I wanted a day with you’ he sighed, ‘you weren’t supposed to remember anything it was just meant to be our day’

Gerard shook his head, ‘I don’t know. I haven’t a clue what will happen to us then’
’How long do we have?’ she asked, tears flooding her eyes.
Gerard looked at his watch, it was 3.30. ‘We have until 9. About 5 hours or so’
’No,’ Jade cried, hugging him tightly, ‘Its not long enough, that’s not fair. What if this is it, our last day ever. What if there is no afterlife Gerard? What if we lose each other forever’ she wept bitterly clinging to him. Gerard held her back, tears springing into his eyes, ‘there has to be a place for us after death Jade, there has to be. I cant lose you, even in death’
Jade wiped her tears, ‘Look at us’ she laughed, ‘We have hours yet.’ She smiled kissing him. ‘Lets have fun, what shall we do with our last hours?’
’I could eat’ he smiled, ‘Lets go to deters. Have a nice fat steak, then we can drink some wine, then come back here?’
’Yeah, we can come back, eat ice cream, have a bath!’ she smiled, jumping up and pulling him by the hand, ‘What shall we wear?’

Sitting in the restaurant, they had their legs interloped under the table, Gerard was smoking and laughing as Jade told him about a TV show she had caught a few days earlier. It was about their lives as a couple, they were mentioned and a few clips of each of them show. ‘They said we were a new hot couple that wouldn’t last’ she laughed. ‘I mean honestly, we lasted until the end didn’t we?’ she giggled, ‘Til death do us part’
’Longer actually’ Gerard nodded, ‘Look at us now, dead and loving it’

While cutting into her own steak, ‘At least I don’t have to worry about calories this time’ she laughed while chewing.

Jade laughed, ‘Come on’ she cried, pulling him into the bushes, popping out the other side they stood by the lake for a while. Jade stood and hugged him, ‘How many times have we been at this spot and said we loved each other?’
’I love you’ he smiled, kissing her neck from behind, Jade shivered and wrapped his arms around her body tightly. Gerard glanced at his watch, it was 5pm. Sighing he held her tighter. ‘Lets go home’ she whispered.

Once home, they lay on the sofa. Gerard flicked on the television and stroked Jades face, she was lying on his chest, relaxed and comfortable. ‘Where shall we die?’ she asked. Gerard was stunned that the question could be asked so calmly. ‘I don’t know’ he replied, ‘where do you want to say goodbye?’
’In bed,’ she smiled, ‘Its not goodbye, I will find you. Even if I have to trawl through hell to find you, which I most certainly will have to, what with your sin record.’
’The devil and I have an agreement, he scratches my back I scratch his’ Gerard jokes, ‘fiery guy, he has a temper’
’I know a guy like that’
’I hope you don’t mean me you wench’ Gerard roared at her, half laughing as she rolled her eyes. ‘Jade, fetch me ice cream’
‘you get it. Its in the freezer 3rds shelf down, proceed’ she instructed, worming behind him and shoving him off the sofa, Gerard fought back, scrabbling to stay on the cushion he wrapped his legs and arms around her, together they fell and landed hard on the floor knocking the coffee table over.
Jade jumped up outraged, ‘I love that table’
’Well I hated it’ Gerard laughed, spreading his legs out and booting it further across the room, folding his arms behind his head he lay and watched her. Jade smiled, walking over to his DVD collection lifting a Japanese ornament from the side, she raised it high and smashed it by his feet.
’Jade, that cost 50 pounds’ Gerard cried, lifting the shattered pieces.

’Right’ Gerard cried, rising to his feet he ran into the hallway. Jade knew what he was doing and screamed, ‘Don’t you dare, you bastard, please no.’ she heard a smash and knew her tiny china pixies and fairies had been demolished, reaching for the side she picked up his favourite star bucks coffee cup and hurled it at the wall, not realising coffee was in there, which flew everywhere. Gerard walked in and found his shirt was soaked; laughing hard together they kissed deeply. Gerard lifted her up and carried her back to the kitchen.
’I love chaos’ she smiled, ‘But I did love those pixies more’ she fumed flicking him hard on the head as he placed her on the side. Gerard grabbed her nipple and pulled it, laughing at her cry of pain. Walking to the freezer he picked out the mint choc chip tub and grabbed a spoon. Opening the lid he scooped a spoonful and lifted it to her mouth. Jade smiled and took a tiny bit from the edge of the spoon.

Jade stuck her finger in the tub and licked it clean, then grabbed another bit. Entering the bathroom he looked around for her, throwing some bubble bath into the vat, he lit a few candles and flicked off the light. Standing there he watched the steam rise, and smiled as he felt so=mall hands encircle his waist. Turning to face her he smiled, she looked beautiful in the candlelight; she had changed into a small white negligee.
