A/N: Okay, so for some reason my plot bunnies like this story better than the one act I'm writing for my APO contest. So here's another catch up chapter for my lovelies. One more catch up chapter to write before I post the random ones I wrote over the summer. Then comes new material! Woot woot! Here's to hoping I can get at least one more chapter out before the weekend when I should have more time to write.
Sally, you are amazing and make me happy to write and update. Cat, I wub my plot bunny orgy buddy! Ivy, you're a dingbat roomie and shouldn't exorcist plaugh EVER again.
And now *dramatic music and drumroll* NEW CHAPTER!
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Rebecca swung open the door to the bathroom without any preamble or warnings. She was getting even more upset with each passing moment, and she had never been one to cross when upset. “IVY CATALUNA REYNOLDS! I HOPE YOU HAVE A GOOD EXPLANATION FOR STANDING MY BROTHER UP LIKE THAT!”
She walked into the bathroom and stood with her arms crossed over her chest, anyone could tell how upset she was at that moment. But then again, anyone who had seen the look on Pete’s face would have understood and agreed with her. After having seen how upset her brother was, it was no wonder that she was upset herself. As Ivy looked up to see her friend furious, she burst into tears, leaving Cat to explain everything.
“Beckanne? I think you ought to hear Ivy's end of it all ...” And thus Cat explained the entire situation, all the background, that she had (for the most part) known about before, and what small solutions that Cat and Ivy had come to before she had walked in. She relented a little, although still a bit wary just out of habit when it came to her oldest brother.
“Ivy… there's only one option for you. If you truly know Pete, you know that his pride can't suffer another blow like this. If you don't answer now, there will be no other chance. Now, this is a moment of truth, Do you want to marry Pete or not?”
Becca raised her eyebrow, waiting for an answer. After all, she wasn’t sure that Ivy would be best if she couldn’t answer automatically. But then again, she had to stop for a moment to realize that she was different from her friend, and that everyone in general was different. Cat seemed to understand the difference as well, as she unpinned her veil and walked over behind Ivy, putting the veil over Ivy’s head with an understanding smile.
“When Ryan had admitted his love for me? Okay, in big-time crowds... It was at the airport. When I had flown in, just following my move to Vegas, Ryan had mistakenly trodden upon several cheerleaders in the terminal, I guess for some sort of competition. Becca here had really been a lot of help with crowd control, as I fished through to get him out of the mob. Right as he was freed from their clutches, he kissed me in front of them. I was nervous at first, but then it just felt natural...Like Ryan had been a part of me my entire lifetime.”
Becca couldn’t help but giggle a little at the memory of their incident in the airport. Sure she had always been overprotective with her boys, but that had just been amusing to call the teenage cheerleader conference off Ryan before he seemed to spontaneously combust.
“Oh yeah, I never did let Ryan live that one down...”
“Now, the question is...Can you see yourself as Peter's bride when you look into the mirror?” As Cat asked Ivy the question, Becca’s eyes moved from Cat’s reflection to Ivy’s waiting for her friend’s response.
Although the response that Becca got from Ivy wasn’t quite what she was thinking it was going to be. Instead of an actual answer, all that Ivy did was rush out of the bathroom leaving Cat and Becca to stare at each other. Cat handed Becca the veil before turning around where Becca could re-pin it to her.
“Reby, I think we ought to hurry, I think we might miss something if we don't.”
Becca nodded and hurriedly pinned the veil back Cat before smiling and pulling her out of the bathroom. “Yes, and you shouldn't be shut in a bathroom during your own wedding reception anyways...”
They walked up to the small crowd just as Ivy spoke up to Pete. “Pete, it would give me no greater honor than to be your wife.” Just as Pete leaned over, kissing Ivy with tears in his eyes, a loud and shrill whistle came from Cat.
“Bloody Bitching if I do say so myself!” The gasp from Cat’s family was amusing enough.
“CATRIANNA MARIE!”
Ryan sneaked up behind Cat and pulled her off her feet before putting her back on the floor and kissing her quickly. “Don't worry Jacqueline, she'll be properly disciplined once we get some alone time.”
Cat’s mom again had a horrified look on her face at her son-in-law’s words. But Cat merely laughed and played it off with a smile, playfully hitting him on the head. “Shh Ryan! No telling the others our evening plans...”
Becca squeaked as someone walked up behind her and covered her eyes with their hands. She tried to pull the hands off her eyes, frowning when the culprit wouldn’t relent. As whoever held her captive pulled her back to them, she caught the scent of a particular cologne and laughed.
“Joe-Joe, let go of me. You had better be glad that I didn’t panic when you did that! Because you should know how bad I freak when someone does something stupid like that.”
Joe merely smirked at Becca, moving his hands from her eyes. He looked entirely too smug for his own good, in her opinion. She lightly hit him on the shoulder, before laughing. She could never really stay angry with him, but sometimes she might have liked to.
“Come on, Becca, time for food.” Joe threw his arms around her waist with a laugh. “I have kidnapped you, my prisoner. Now, what shall I do with thee?”
Becca laughed as Joe acted the part of the evil overlord. She really did love her friends, and didn’t know what she would really do without them. Probably go insane, she supposed.
“Release the beautiful maiden at once, evil one. Or I shall be forced to duel you ... to the death!” Patrick stepped up beside Becca, playfully acting like the hero in all the melodramatic stories. It was certainly amusing to say the least. Although Becca’s stomach seemed to have other ideas, as it suddenly started to grumble at the aroma of the food that the caterers had started to bring in for the meal.
“The lady is hungry. Shall we differ our battling for another time after the lady has satisfied her stomach?” Joe still held his arms around Becca’s waist, grinning mischievously.
“Yes, yes, my mortal enemy. Let us not discomfort our lady in this. Consider our battle differed until the lady has taken sustenance. Let us shake on it and be done with it.” Patrick held out his hand and shook with Joe before pulling Becca from Joe’s embrace and leading her off towards the table where hey were sitting for the small meal.
“Alright single men line up! It's that time where I throw the bride's garter!” Ryan shouted as they finished eating.
Spencer was one of the first to hop up, but not in the same way, as he began herding the others up. “Single men, over here!”
Although no matter how hard they might have tried to avoid it, William made certain that no one eligible could escape, as he smirked in the direction of Brendon and Spencer, who were both trying to escape. “That means ALL single guys...”
After the mad scramble of either trying to catch or avoid catching the garter was cleared, William was the lucky (or unlucky) winner of the garment. “ALRIGHT BILL!” Pete jokingly called after the moment.
Then it was, of course, Becca’s turn to do her little bit of duty as to the bouquet toss as well. “Unmarried girls, you know where to go!” Becca joined in the crowd, a little leery of the entire situation, but knowing that it was tradition, and she couldn’t pass it up on Cat’s wedding.
“Brendon! You should be in this crowd!” Becca laughed at Ivy’s joking comment, and again at Brendon’s reaction as he playfully stuck his tongue out at her with a grin.
“Thanks, but no thanks. I'm already spoken for.”
And soon enough the bouquet was tossed, and Becca ended up on the floor as Viv accidentally (we hope) pushed her out of the way ending up on the floor in pursuit of the bouquet. Becca of course wasn’t upset, rather laughed at her friend’s zeal in trying to catch the bouquet. That certainly meant something, didn’t it?
“Holy cow Viv! Maul them all why don't you!” Patrick held out his hand to help Becca up, pulling her into his arms with a grin and kiss. “You don’t have to worry about catching any bouquet for me. I’m already yours.”
Becca giggled before leaning up to kiss him again. “Don’t you forget it, either.”
“Vittoria mio corre! Victory is mine!” Viv called out, holding the prized bouquet up in the air dramatically. Although the main event was when William waltzed over and dipped her in a passionate kiss. It seemed the suspicions of all their friends were true.
“I guess this is where we announce that as of yesterday, we're officially a couple.” Viv smiled before going back to another kiss with William, enjoying the applause their announcement seemed to have garnered.
Becca grinned before leaning her head against Patrick’s shoulder. “It’s about time those two came to their senses, isn’t it? I think everyone’s been plotting their relationship for some time now.
Soon enough the reception turned back to normal for wedding receptions, and the newlyweds made their grand exit, a smirk on the groom’s face that caused all their friends to giggle a little knowing what it meant. After all, one would have to be a little simple to not understand Ryan’s thoughts at that moment.
Not long after the newlyweds left, the remainder of the crowd thinned drastically. Pete and Ivy had left before the newlyweds had, mentioning something about Ivy feeling a little sick again, although several of the others didn’t quite buy that story. Jon and Mickey had disappeared sometime after Ryan and Cat had left. Bill and Viv had to make an early night as Angie started to get cranky. And Brendon and Spencer had spent most of the evening in hiding with each other, as they still didn’t quite want too many people to know about their hidden relationship.
So this left mainly Patrick and Becca, still enjoying the night and the atmosphere. Becca loved the way the room felt with all the love and affection still in the air from the reception. Patrick loved the way she looked so happy and at peace. And they both were a little caught up in the idea that they would be having their own wedding next.
Patrick walked up behind Becca as she was standing in the middle of the empty dance floor humming to herself, as the DJ had left a few hours ago. He wrapped his arms around her waist with a contented smile. “Are you ready to call it a night, Doodle?”
Becca smiled and nodded as she took a last glance around the room before heading out of the room hand in hand with Patrick. “Ready for anything.”
