Kelly stroked Carrie's cheek softly after climbing over the girl so she could lay next to her. She smiled as the other blonde drew in a slow, relaxed breath in her sleep. She trailed her thumb across Carrie's cheekbone before leaning in and brushing their lips together. She pulled back, watching the taller girl's eyes blink open.
"Mmm...hi," Carrie smiled sleepily.
"Hi," Kelly giggled at the tiredness in her eyes. "So I'm totally starting to understand why you loved waking me up so much..."
"Yea?" Carrie snuggled into her pillow.
Kelly nodded, kissing her again.
Carrie reached out, wrapping an arm around her, and pulled her closer, "You know...when we have our own apartment, we'll be able to wake each other up every day and not have to worry about who can walk in on us..."
Kelly grinned, scooting even closer, "That sounds nice."
"Very," Carrie agreed. "So..."
"So..." Kelly repeated, her eyes dancing in amusement as they looked into Carrie's.
"Last day of school."
"I know."
"Sad?"
"Not in the least bit," she shook her head.
"Excited?"
"Definitely...I just feel like everything's about to happen, you know? It's like ever since I decided I didn't want to go to college and wanted to go to L.A. instead, I just couldn't wait to be able to go and get out of here. I have never been so excited for anything in my entire life...well...until I met you," she smiled sweetly.
Carrie laughed softly, "Dork."
"No, I meant it. You just...it's like..." Kelly struggled for the right words.
Carrie placed her fingers on her lips when she opened her mouth to try again, "I know."
Kelly kissed her finger tips softly.
"Can I ask you something?" Carrie asked, running a hand through the shorter girl's hair.
"Of course."
"Hypothetically...and this is purely hypothetical because you know I have all the faith and belief in you in the world...but hypothetically, did you ever think about what you would do if you didn't make it?"
"Make what?"
"Make it as a singer."
"I already am a singer."
Carrie smiled, "I meant like as a major artist with a record deal and stuff."
"No," Kelly shook her head.
"No?"
"Why have a backup plan when I know I'm going to make it?"
"I wish I had your confidence," Carrie confessed, her eyes moving across the Texan's face.
"I wish you did too," Kelly admitted. "You deserve to know how great you are...but that's ok because until you realize that, I'll just continue on reminding you constantly."
Carrie smiled as Kelly tilted her head, kissing her softly, "I love you."
"I love you too," she kissed the tip of her nose with a loud smack, making her laugh.

"Where's Mary?" Kelly asked curiously as Lyndsey joined her and Carrie at her locker.
"Fixing her mascara in the bathroom--she cried the whole way here," Lyndsey smiled.
Kelly laughed, shaking her head as she shoved the books she had to turn in into her booksack.
"I'm sure you, on the other hand, probably celebrated the whole way here," Lyndsey teased.
"I'm doing my best to contain my excitement to an appropriate level," Kelly grinned.
"You've been dying to get out of this place for so long..."
"There's just so much I wanna do," she shrugged.
"And you're gonna do it all," Lyndsey nodded surely, squeezing her shoulder.
Kelly leaned into her as her arm wrapped around both her shoulders.
"How much longer do we have you for?"
"A few months."
She frowned.
"I'm gonna come back," Kelly assured.
"You better."
"You know Texas is always gonna be home to me."
"I just don't want all the money and the fame and the big cities to change you," she admitted.
"Like y'all would let it change me," Kelly replied.
Carrie smiled, watching the two friends.
"True," Lyndsey nodded. "There would be a major smack down going on if you ever forgot who you really are."
"I'm pretty sure it'd be impossible for me to ever forget or even try to hide how much of a dork I am."
Lyndsey laughed, "Also true...just making sure you're aware."
"And don't worry, Care's gonna look out for me out there," Kelly smiled at the Oklahoma native.
"So you decided to go?" Lyndsey grinned.
"What have I got to lose, right?" Carrie shrugged.
"Exactly," Lyndsey nodded. "Man, I'm so pumped for you guys..."
"Well, no need to be pumped yet. Like I said, we aren't gonna be leaving for at least another couple months," Kelly reminded. "I need to get some more money saved up so we can get a place over there to stay."
"Hey, if you need any help..." her voice trailed off at the look in her eye. "Stubborn."
"Y'all gotta let me stand on my own some time."
"You gotta learn that as your best friends it is our right to help you out whenever we see fit some time."
"I'm fine," Kelly assured. "Plus, since Carrie's coming, that cuts all my bills in half."
Lyndsey narrowed her eyes at her.
"You know I'm not going to change my mind."
"Stubborn."
"Like you'd have me any other way."
Lyndsey smiled, wrapping both arms around her and pulling her into a hug.
Kelly looked over her shoulder, giggling at Mary who had paused mid-stride at the sight of them as she walked out of the bathroom. She could see her eyes starting to well up, and she laughed, waving her over. "Come on you nerd."
Lyndsey chuckled as they pulled Mary into the hug as well.
Kelly turned back, grabbing Carrie's hand and pulling her to them.
"You're in this too, girlie," Lyndsey nodded as Carrie was enveloped in the group hug.
Kelly squeezed Carrie's hand as she watched her girlfriend's eyes watering as well.
"I'm gonna miss y'all," Carrie sniffed.
"Aw..." Mary wrapped her arms tighter around the group.
"For the last time, we're not leaving for a few months," Kelly rolled her eyes as she stood trapped in the middle of the hug, holding on to Carrie's hand tightly.

Kelly looked up as Mary joined her, Carrie, and Lyndsey at the table. "What's up?" she asked, noticing the look on her face.
"Ashley wants to sit with us," Lyndsey replied, studying her closely.
"Ashley can sit wherever she wants to," Kelly shrugged, trying to be nonchalant about it.
"It's just that it's the last day of school, you know? And we've shared a table for how long now?"
"I said she can sit wherever she wants to...it's a free country."
"Are you going to leave if she sits with us?" Lyndsey asked.
"Is she gonna be rude to Carrie?" Kelly countered.
"Baby," Carrie whispered softly, leaning close to her ear. "She used to be your best friend..."
"I don't care."
"Kell..."
"Care, have you forgotten all the things she's done?" Kelly turned to look at her. "Have you forgotten the things she's said?"
"Of course not, but it is the last day of school, and this is the last chance for y'all to eat together like this."
"I said it was fine."
"You're tense," Carrie pointed out gently.
Kelly took a deep breath, trying to relax, "If you're ok with it, then I'm ok with it."
Carrie smiled, squeezing her knee under the table.
Lyndsey turned to a different table, waving Ashley over.
"Hey guys," Ashley greeted cautiously.
"Hey," Mary and Lyndsey replied.
Kelly nodded politely before turning back to her lunch.

"That wasn't so bad," Carrie commented as she hopped onto the bathroom counter. "I thought she was quite civil to you."
"She didn't talk to me," Kelly pointed out, fixing the out of order sign on the outside of the door before closing it and locking it.
"Because you didn't even look at her."
"She didn't look at you."
"Yes she did, you were just too busy glaring down at your plate to notice the death stares," Carrie smiled as Kelly walked to her.
"Death stares," Kelly frowned, standing before her.
"Nothing I couldn't handle," Carrie shrugged. "I'm pretty tough despite all the pink."
Kelly laughed softly as she reached up on her toes to kiss her, "I'm sorry about the death stares."
"It's ok," Carrie whispered against her lips.
"If I had noticed--" she was cut off by a kiss.
"It doesn't matter," Carrie assured.
"You know...I would do anything for you."
"I know," Carrie smiled, cradling her cheek.
"You...you mean everything to me. As long as you're happy, nothing else matters."
"Baby..." Carrie cooed, pressing their lips together sweetly.
"I love you so much," Kelly mumbled into the kiss, stepping to her.
"I love you too," Carrie replied, her hand tangling in the shorter girl's hair, deepening the kiss as she pulled her closer.

"I can't believe it's over," Carrie noted as they walked slowly to her car after the final bell had rung.
"I can't believe we made out in an out of order bathroom," Kelly giggled. "I feel like I need a shower."
"Ooo, can I join?" Carrie asked, linking their arms together.
"You know, one day I'm gonna say yes to that, and then what are you gonna do?"
"Die of happiness...after I rock your world, of course."
Kelly laughed, "You're all talk."
"Oh yea?"
"Yea."
"Try me."
Kelly raised an eyebrow at her.
"I mean it. What time is your mom getting back today?"
"Not till late, but come on, Care. We promised, remember? No sex under her roof."
"So?"
"Were you not the one a few days ago begging me to not make you break your promise to my mother?"
"Yea, but that's only because I didn't want you at my place either."
"So you only keep promises when they're beneficial to you?" Kelly teased as they reached the car.
"When it involves you with no clothes on, yes, yes I do."
"Care..." Kelly shook her head.
"Baby..." Carrie pouted, stepping closer to her.
"Care, we're in public," Kelly reminded, glancing around.
"You can't tell me that earlier didn't make you want to do it even more?"
"Of course it made me want to do it even more, all I have to do is think of you and I want to do it even more."
"Then what's the problem?"
"We made a promise."
"Fine, we'll go somewhere's else. We'll just drive somewhere."
"You want to do it in your car?" Kelly asked incredulously.
"What's so wrong about that? People do it in cars all the time."
"First off, it's a bug, Care--there's no room."
"There's plenty of room."
"And second, don't you want it to be special?"
"The first time wasn't special enough?"
Kelly's mouth opened in shock, "Are you serious?"
Carrie winced, "I didn't mean it like that...I just meant...ugh..."
Kelly sighed, leaning back against the car.
"I just meant that not every time is going to be like that, you know? Of course it's going to be special, because it's with you, but it's not always gonna be so...so..."
"I know that," Kelly nodded.
"I'm sorry," Carrie shook her head, wrapping her arms around her and laying her head on her shoulder.
"It's ok," Kelly hugged her back. "I'm sorry for being so defensive."
"And I know that just because we had sex once doesn't mean we're gonna be having it twenty-four-seven now. You know that I know that, right?"
"I know," Kelly assured, rubbing her back.
"Good, because it's true. I don't think that, I just..." she took a deep breath, holding her tighter. "I wanna be with you."
"I wanna be with you too," Kelly replied, feeling her blood rush. "It just may take a couple more times to get you know...I don't know...comfortable with it?"
Carrie straightened up just enough to be able to look at her.
"Is that ok?"
"Practice makes perfect," Carrie smiled.
Kelly giggled, her hand pausing on Carrie's lower back, "Everything's been so great so far, you know? Why rush things now?"
"You're right," Carrie nodded.
"And I mean...once we're comfortable...sex twenty-four-seven...that may not be such a bad thing," Kelly grinned, blushing slightly.
Carrie beamed, "I knew I loved you for a reason."
