“This time it’s not MY fault!” Hayden pointed an accusing finger at Natalie as George yelled ‘CUT’ yet again.
Everyone laughed at Hayden’s remark, and even George started to chuckle as Natalie’s face reddened. They had been working on this kissing scene over and over because Hayden kept messing up and doing a good job of making it look like he wasn’t meaning to do it. But, he allowed a tiny smirk; he did mean to do it. That way he got to keep pressing his lips to hers. On the first take he’d felt her shiver and it was just too irresistible to let it only happen once. So, he kept messing up, flubbing a line or moving his head the wrong way so that he blocked her face in the camera. After twenty minutes of kissing, Hayden figured he’d better not push George any further and attempted to get the take right.
Then Natalie flubbed. Hayden turned a curious eye on her and surveyed her red face. She tried to shrug at him in her innocence but only turned redder. Had she done it on purpose?
“Ok, let’s do it one more time,” George sighed, but gave Rick a dubious glance. Somehow he had the feeling more was going on here than what appeared.
As they came in for the kiss, Hayden and Natalie locked meaningful stares, eyes closing just before their lips met and clung. The inevitable shiver wracked Natalie’s spine again as Hayden’s lips caressed hers, his tongue touching her bottom lip in such a way that it couldn’t be seen even on camera. With every ounce of strength she possessed she kept herself from wrapping her arms around his neck and pulling his tongue into her mouth.
“And…” George got ready to yell ‘cut.’
“Ah –choo!!!” Natalie’s head reared back from Hayden’s as she sneezed.
“Cut!” George called, shaking his head. “Natalie…”
“I’m sorry, George,” Natalie apologized, sneezing again for effect.
“Well, if it’s not one, it’s the other,” Rick laughed, knowing their breakneck pace of filming was slowing down for the day, but couldn’t help but see the humor in it.
“One more time,” George smiled, unable to find any reason to lecture them when they seemed to be having so much fun kissing each other.
Stepping to their marks, Hayden and Natalie waited and faced one another for their call to action. Hayden quirked a quick grin at her and Natalie winked slyly back, halting his heart a moment. On action, they moved closer, Hayden’s lips claiming hers a little more forcefully than before, daring Natalie to pull away. Natalie held on, keeping her lips sealed to his, allowing him to caress his mouth along hers before holding the kiss steady.
“And…. cut!” George called triumphantly. The crew clapped enthusiastically at the end of the scene, but quickly deteriorated into catcalls and whistles as Hayden refused to release Natalie and bent her backward continuing the kiss. Sweeping his tongue discreetly into her mouth and withdrawing back into his. Rick raised stunned eyebrows at Hayden’s forwardness. George grinned at the spectacle and caught the crew’s attention.
“On the count of three everyone,” George commanded. “One, two, three…”
“CUT!!!!!”
Hayden jerked his mouth from Natalie’s and gave her a smug grin before setting her upright and bowing to the crew. As he walked off the set, everyone broke into cheers and poor Natalie stared at Hayden’s retreating back, her mouth hanging open but a feverish twinkle in her eyes. She knew exactly what that gesture meant. Storage closet. Now.
