The three days I spent in Vancouver were more than wonderful. We had one of those experiences where if you think back on it, you just blush. I was blushing every five minutes. Now back at home, I was finally getting the hang of this taking care of twins thing and no one had to come over to assist me. Besides I had about worked Angie and Mia to death. I went to work on reading the seventy scripts Vin had let pile up since I had been gone. It was a mess and it was up to me to make sense of it all. Things were running smoothly and every night I looked forward to talking to my honey. Mark and Miri were growing quickly. Miri weighed in at eleven pounds on her their last check up. Her little fat legs were covered with rolls and she looked so much like her Daddy. I kept cute little bows and berets in her curly, sandy brown hair. Her big brother on the other hand was fifteen pounds and looked like a little sumo wrestler. He could barely hold up his fat little head. He had a triple chin and his eyes looked liked they closed when he showed his toothless smile.
We spent several days by the pool. I even had them scheduled for swimming lessons in their fourth month and I was very excited. We would sometimes, go to the park with Mia and her baby, Michael. Michael was almost two years old but you would have sworn he was twenty. He would tell the babies, "No" if he thought they were doing something they shouldn’t be. He tried picking Marky up and needless to say they both took a tumble. Michael cried to hold them and if Mia held them, he cried more. He didn't want the twins having his Mommy but he didn’t much mind taking their Mommy from them, he followed me around all day. He always reminded me of Shennett, he couldn't pronounce my name either. He choose to call me "Reshia."
After a month back home, I was running myself into the ground. Taking care of Mark, Miri and getting anything else done was an up at dawn, no sleep until after 2 a.m. hardship tour of duty. I had so much going on I hardly had time to write, hell I didn’t have time to realize I was coming down with something. It started out with a cough and before I knew it I was out of commission. I had a fever of 103 when Angie finally held me down long enough to get my temperature and it was all down hill form there. When a doctor was called in I found out I had the flu and I was severely dehydrated. I was immediately quarantined. I didn't mind, of course I didn't want my Mark and Miri to get the flu but you would have thought I was that little monkey from Outbreak or something. I had a full staff of friends at my house 24/7.
Seven days of rest and I was sick of it already. I was sneaking down to the kitchen for snacks in the middle of the night and when I was supposed to take that nasty cough syrup I wouldn't. I was a self healer and knew with enough fluids I would be just fine. I had never been a big fan of cold medicine. Hell, it didn’t cure a thing anyway. Every time I got caught sneaking out, I would get a good tongue lashing from the hubby but I didn’t care. At least it broke the monotony. I spent the first half of my day talking on the phone and the other sneaking down to the kitchen. I know I had to have gained twenty pounds in that week alone. I was bored and boredom gives you an insatiable appetite. When I was all better, I had a photographer come over and photograph the babies. I had them each take a picture in a costume. Mark was a little lion and of course my Miri was a ballerina. We had so much fun playing dress up. I had pictures of them taken in several different outfits.
Now four months in age Mark and Miri are doing all kinds of things, playing peek-a-boo, rolling over and saying dada. They seemed to even talk to onotheother. They started their swimming lessons and my babies took to the water like fish. They loved it. By now we had visited their Daddy in Vancouver several times. I was overly thrilled when I learned Vin would be returning home shortly, for a few days to attend an awards ceremony, then he would go back for a week or so. After that he would be home with us for a good while. I ‘d smile and blush at the mere thought of it. I stopped breast-feeding Mark and Miri and put them on formula, after my bout with the flu. I hated to do it but this way they ate less often and slept longer. I had been wavering between being sick and well since I'd had the flu and I needed the rest.
“Three weeks.” I thought as I brushed my hair back into a pony tail.
It’s 10 a. m., the twins and I are getting dressed for Sunday brunch with the gals. Angie, Mia and Dragon who had left Vancouver after breaking her ankle trying to hold off a mob of fans. It had become a regular Sunday event for us but this morning I was feeling a little queasy. I had been pushing myself and I should taken more time off after the flu. Leaning over the sink I splash cold water on my face, I hoped it would help my nausea. Stepping into the closet I pull on a pair of jeans, a tank top and one of Vin basketball jerseys. Once I was done it was down the hall to the babies. Mia had already arrived and was powdering and diapering when I went in. Michael lay flat in the floor having a temper tantrum. Once they are dressed we all head down for brunch.
Angie arrived next and she screamed as I opened the door.
“I have news.” She said hugging me tightly.
She held up her hand and showed me the glistening rock on her finger.
“I’ m getting married.” She screamed and this time I screamed too.
“Congratulations. It’s about time, Corey got off his rump and made an honest woman of you.” I said laughing.
“We are going to have so much fun planning this wedding.” I put my arm around her shoulders and we walked out to the pool. She was bubbling happy and I was more then happy for her.
Later on that night I called Chereese, to find out how she was doing. I hoped she would come out soon. I missed her.
“Hello.” She answered.
“Hey lady.” I said.
“Hey how are you?” She asked.
“I am doing just fine. How are y
“Good. How are those little ones? I have been waiting on my pictures.”
“And I have been wondering when they are going to stop crying long enough to take a picture.” I say with a laugh. “But other then that, they are good. How’s Shennett?”
“Just fine. She started school in September, you know?”
“Yes, how’s that going?”
“Mrs. Mouth All Mighty thinks she’s supposed to talk all the way through class.” We both laugh. “So when are you sending my pictures. I know that Mark’s getting hella big.”
“Most definitely. He weights fifteen pounds. Pictures, you need to bring your behind to LA. My babies and I aren’t going to wait forever.”
“Fifteen pounds! He must have a big head like his Daddy.” She laughs again. “Come to LA, don’t threaten me with a good time. Will you be home tomorrow?” She asks jokingly.
“I’ m here everyday. Are you serious because I would love to see you?”
“As much as I wish I could , I have to check in with work first.”
“Well, come as soon as you can. Don’t worry about a thing, whatever you need I will be sure you have it.”
“How about a million dollars?” She asked.
“A million dollars? What in the hell kind of plan are you catching? It better be covered in diamonds.” I say as we laugh together.
