Chapter Seven

A loud banging woke Orlando from his slumber. It was someone pounding on the door to his cabin. Ophelia opened her eyes and looked at him. "Bloom, wake up. You missed breakfast and if you want to make your plane in Wolfbank, you'll haul ass out of bed. Van's leaving in 15 minutes." Reilly shouted through the door. Orlando sat up

"Shit, we slept in." He said to Ophelia, who was climbing out of bed and looking for her clothes.

"Yeah, I'm glad I packed everything last night. But I need a shower before I get on that plane." She said pulling on her pants. They could hear Reilly pounding on Ophelia's door now.

"Get up Brooks." He was calling. She pulled on her shirt, tucking her bra into her jeans pocket. Orlando pulled his eyes away from her body and said

"I wanted to talk before we left this morning."

"We can talk on the plane. I really need a shower. See you in 12 minutes." She said over her shoulder as she left the cabin. Orlando started throwing his stuff into his bag.

"Shit, I should have done this last night." He muttered. After he had quickly packed everything up he jumped under the water for about two minutes, dried off, brushed his teeth and got dressed. Everyone, including Ophelia, was already waiting by the van. He gave Helen a hug and told her he would see her next summer if he was free. Then he climbed in next to Ophelia and waited for Reilly to start the van.

"I had a blast Joe, I will definately be back next summer. This was the best. Thanks." Ophelia said shaking Joe's hand. Orlando shook Joe's hand too and followed Ophelia onto the small plane.

Once the plane taxi'd and took off, Orlando tried to speak to Ophelia, without the others hearing.

"So, do you have to go right back to work tomorrow?" He asked not knowing where to start.

"Yeah, so much for resting on my vacation." She laughed. "What about you? Right back to filming?" She asked him.

"No, I'm free for about another month. But I do have to read a couple of scripts. So are you going to give me your phone number?" He asked the last question in what he hoped was a casual way.

"How about my e-mail adress?" She teased, knowing he detested the internet and didn't own a computer.

"Aww, come on Brooks, wouldn't you rather hear my voice that see some misspelled words on a computer screen?" Her heart took a little tumble. Was he really interested in her number or was he just trying to be polite, after last night.

"Of course you can have my number. But don't call collect. I am way too cheap to accept the charges." She teased writing her number down on a peice of paper from her pack.

"Do you want mine?" He asked.

"Sure." She handed him another scrap of paper. He wrote "Lando" and his phone numbers.

"That's my apartment in L.A. and my cell number. Call me anytime." He sounded sincere, did he really want to continue their friendship. "So tell me about Toronto and your life." He said after they had tucked away their papers.

"What's to tell? I work at a small but busy salon in downtown Toronto, my parents live close by. My sister lives in Ottawa and I share an apartment with my best friend, Jan, who is getting married Sept. 6th. And then I'll be living alone in my apartment."

"Are you in the wedding?" He asked.

"Yep, Maid of Honor. At least she picked out a decent dress. But I don't have a date so maybe I can pick up the DJ or a waiter." She laughed. He suddenly felt like punching the unknown, unseen DJ.

"Don't you just hate weddings?" She asked.

"No, I actually love them." He smiled.

"Free booze?"

"But of couse." He answered and they laughed.

The plane was landing and their time together was almost over. "Are you catching another plane right away?" She asked him.

"I have a 4 hour wait." He told her.

"Do you want me to wait with you? I'm catching a cab back home. So I can do that at any time." She offered, not quite ready to say good-bye to him.

"I'd love that." He whispered. So together they walked to the terminal he would catch his flight home to L.A. The sat in restaurant, near where he would need to board. They didn't really talk much, just held hands and occasionally made a remark. They called his flight and they walked over to the boarding gate.

"So I'll call you. Okay?" He said. She nodded and was surprised she was holding back tears. He pulled her into his embraced and kissed her. Just a soft, quick one, but still full of passion and feeling. When he lifted his head he looked into her wet eyes. She's crying? He thought to himself. He smiled at her and said "I'll see you soon." Then he picked up his pack and headed for the gate. She watched his back, did he just say see you soon? What did he mean by that?

"Bye Lando." She called out. He handed his boarding pass to the flight attendant and turned to look at Ophelia.

"Bye Ophelia." She watched his plane take off through the window and then walked out to find a cab.

She held back her tears untill she walked into her apartment and saw Jan sitting on the couch with Jack.

"Hey welcome home." Jan said jumping up. Seeing the tears she hugged Ophelia. "Whats wrong sweetie?" She asked.

"My heart hurts." Ophelia said as she cried harder.

"Do you think he will call?" Jan asked. She could hardley believe that Ophelia had met, shared a tent with and had sex with Orlando Bloom.

"I don't know. It seemed like he would. But he is an actor. He could have been lying. I just don't want to get my hopes up." But she already had. The phone had rung three times since she had gotten home this afternoon. Each time it did, her heart stopped beating for a second. It hadn't been him though. When she thought rationally, she knew it was way too soon for him to be calling, his plane probably hadn't even landed yet. Plus he must have loads of phone messages and mail to sort through, he was a very important person.

"Are you sure you will be alright? I can try to change this appointment." Jan asked her rubbing her back.

"Yeah I'll be fine. Besides, this is you appointment with the priest, you can't cancel it. You are getting married in less than a month. You had better keep that appointment, if you want Father Ramsey to marry you." Jan laughed

"You're right. I'll be back soon and we'll order pizza and eat ice cream and say all kinds of mean things about Orlando Bloom. Okay?"

"Okay. Have fun." Ophelia said. Once they had left she picked up her bag, inside she found a pair of Orlando's boxers and one of his t-shirts.

"How'd I get these?" Then she realized she was missing a t-shirt of hers, that was the same dark blue.

"Oh, I must have grabbed his and he has mine." Smiling she held it to her nose. It smelt like him, a mixture of sweat, campfire, and his deodorant. Laying down on her bed she held the t-shirt next to her chest and drifted off to sleep.

"Yeah Elijah, it was great. Too bad you missed it." Orlando was talking to Elijah on the phone, while he unpacked his bag, throwing the dirty clothes into the laundry hamper.

"So what was it like?" Elijah asked him.

"Well, sleeping on a hard ground, paddling for hour in the hot sun, carring 40 lbs packs long distances and eating fish every night, it was fucking great." He said smiling as he remembered it.

"Yeah sounds great. Anything memorable happen?" Lij asked.

"Well the first night out we stopped at this high cliff, about 30 feet high and me and Brooks jumped about 4 or 5 times. It was awesome. Oh and another time me and Brooks were fighting and we accidentally tipped our canoe. I was so mad at the time, but it actually was pretty funny. Brooks called me a tosser." Olando was laughing.

"Who's Brooks and why were you fighting with him?" Lij asked, feeling a little jealous that Orlando had met an obviously good friend on the trip.

"Brooks was my teammate, we had to share a canoe and a tent. And he is a she, Ophelia Brooks." Elijah smiled when he heard the way Orlando had said her name. It was the way he talked about bungee jumping or sky diving. He likes this chick a lot.

"A she? Was she hot? Did you get lucky?" Lij asked.

"She's beautiful and don't you talk about her like that. She's not some slutty groupie. She has class." Lij chuckled, Orlando has it bad. Just then Orlando found her t-shirt mixed in with his stuff. It was the t-shirt she had been wearing when they had tipped over.

"So where does this Ophelia live?" Elijah asked.

"Toronto. Listen I gotta go. I'll talk to you later." Orlando said. He had the sudden urge to talk to her.

"So when are you going to see her next? You should go to the film festival?" Lij said not paying attention to Orlando's attempt at hanging up.

"I don't know when I can see her again. What festival?" Olando asked. Why couldn't Lij get off the phone?

"The Toronto Film Festival. I've been a couple of times. Didn't you say your new movie is showing there?" Orlando thought about that. He had done a small role in an independant film, it was more of a cameo than a role, but it was showing there.

"Well, I suppose I could fly up there for that. Good publicity for the movie."

Lij was laughing. "Okay lover boy I'll talk to you later. Say hello to her from me." Orlando smiled, while he thought about seeing her again. He dug out the scrap of paper and dialed her number. It was ringing. He was about to hang up when the answering machine picked up.

"Hi this is Jan and Ophelia, we can't take your call so leave a message at the beep." It wasn't Ophelia's voice, so he assumed that was Jan.

"Uhm Hi Ophelia. Its me Orlando. I guess you aren't home. I found your t-shirt with my stuff. I just thought I'd let you know where it was. Uhm.. my friend Elijah says hi. So, I guess I'll try to call you later. And Ophelia, I lo...."

"Hello? Lando? Are you there?" He smiled when he heard her voice. She had been sleeping.

"Yes I'm still here. Did I wake you? Sorry." He felt so happy to be talking to her. Shit Orlando you just left her 6 hours ago.

"Yeah, I was sleeping but its okay. What were you saying when I picked up?" She was biting her lip, it had sounded like he was saying I love you, but she was worried he was going to hang up so she had picked up the phone without waiting to hear.

"What was I saying?" He hesitated. "I miss you Brooks."
